Up for Debate: The final debate

Monday, October 22, 2012 at 10:26pm

In the final presidential debate of this election, the candidates appeared a bit more civilized but throw no-less pointed barbs at each other. What's you reaction on how each one did? Who came out on top? What were the highlights?

What this viewer saw was a Challenger that appeared and spoke more
Presidential than did the sitting President who argued and acted as petty
as the man-child the nation has observed for 4 years. Of course, I would
expect the NBC network and Loner to disagree with me on this.

By: yogiman on 10/23/12 at 5:31

But the poll taken right after the debate showed Mitt Romney coming out on top 70 to 30%.
Obama still caught in too many lies.

By: BenDover on 10/23/12 at 5:51

Mitt crushed another stereotype. This time the warmonger that the Obama administration has been trying so hard to cast Romney as was refuted.

By: yogiman on 10/23/12 at 6:16

We have only two weeks before getting Obama out of office. Let's just hope Congress doesn't allow him to place us under martial law to avoid being replaced in office.

By: Captain Nemo on 10/23/12 at 6:22

He NCP poll taken this morning shows that the right and fringe right all agree the President Obama has the clear winner. The whine is rising has the morning continues.

By: bfra on 10/23/12 at 6:24

The biased bunch jumped on here early! Let's hope Romney doesn't accidently get elected, with his lack of geography knowledge, he might declare war on our own allies. If the first 3 had paid attention, their man is totally dumb as far as Presidential needs go.

By: Rasputin72 on 10/23/12 at 6:25

I still see Obama as a clear winner based on there are more people who struggle financially than there are people who live the good life in the United States.

There are just not many opportunities for people with bad genetics, poor education and an affinity for tattoos and dope.

By: bfra on 10/23/12 at 6:25

Nemo - We must have seen the same polls. Don't know what the biased bunch saw.

By: Loner on 10/23/12 at 6:28

Good morning, Nashville.

No doubt about it, President Obama handily won the last debate...FOX's faux news notwithstanding.

Romney is a pretty good con man, however....he sucked in the gullible....he looked convincing, as he claimed that he was a peace candidate...but we all know the truth....Sheldon Adelson hosted a huge fund-raiser for Bishop Romney when Romney visited Israel this year.....Romney is actually on a short lease, his master is the Prime minister of the Jewish state....and Israel will always be at war with its neighbors and Israel will forever hold the West responsible for the Holocaust.....meting out death and revenge are the central motivators and mechanics of Israeli foreign policy....they still seethe with anger; but instead of directing their hate at the Germans, they direct their contempt and wrath at the Palestinian Arabs.

Romney is a combination of Tricky Dick Nixon and smooth-talking Ronald Reagan....except that Romney was a draft-dodger during wartime....Mitt is a man who protested against the anti-war protesters.....a war profiteer....both Nixon and Reagan did something for the war effort, besides cashing in....the Romney family has never included anyone who was a veteran of the US armed forces....they are a cultish clan of war-mongering chickenshits.

Here is another poll that agrees with our NCP whiners.

Are the public libraries open this early in the morning in Nashville? Rasputin has had his morning gin and he's now online.....still trying to convince the board that he is some sort of wealthy entrepreneur....a tycoon....a bon vivante....a jet-setter....a connoisseur of fine foods and beverages.....a card-carrying member of the "productive class".

The Thurston Howell III rant is getting a little old, Rasp.....do you have more than one issue on your radar screen, or are you simply obsessed with class warfare?

BTW, how's that "simple six" running these days? Try adding some STP oil treatment...it will cut down on the oil-burning...and it will noticeably decrease the amount of blue smoke emanating from your tail pipe.

Tell me, bfra, where did your beloved boy Barry get his presidential knowledge from when he never had a job before he usurped that office? That is, except being an "organizer".

After all, Romney has at least run a state as their governor.

By: Captain Nemo on 10/23/12 at 7:02

Loner, it is the Monks only argument . He knows that the GOP/Tea Party and all of the others of his philosophy have used the same old decayed post, for 4 yrs now. This is the only squabble that is left for him to stand out among the other trolls.

Since there are more people without jobs now than there was when Barry took office, are they going to vote for him to keep them out of work?

Yeah, that's the Rasp's Schtick, Cap'n Nemo....not so much a comedian....more like a clown...red rubber nose, huge shoes, outlandish costume.....makes the kids cry....that sort of a clown.

It's good to have a favorite candidate, Loner, but if I was running for that office, damned if I'd want the communist dictators in all of the communist nations backing me. At least not until I had enough suckers to vote me back in to set up my dictatorship takeover.

By: Kosh III on 10/23/12 at 7:17

I listened to it on the radio.

I was amazed that Romney thought Iran's access to the sea was thru Syria and Lebanon. Has he never heard of the Persian Gulf? The Indian Ocean?

He seemed to stutter and stumble a lot, esp. when the President called him a liar.

But I will admit, I am no fan of Romney nor his party of bayonet-toting Fascists.

" communist dictators"
Check your facts: Romney is the one who prefers China and Vietnam--that's why he ships jobs to these countries.

Sounds like Rasp has been suspended from the downtown library again.
Rasp's last suspension was for excessive flatulence.
I hope they didn't catch him watching porn again, that's a month suspension.

By: Captain Nemo on 10/23/12 at 7:26

He did stutter and stumble a lot, Kosh. He looks as if he was a deer in the headlights.

Ben pipes in with a diversion post. LOL

By: Loner on 10/23/12 at 7:26

Here's the GOP strategy in a nutshell: The De-demonization of Bishop Willard Romney.

The concerted goal of the Romney campaign, their super PACs, the right-wing media and the right-wing blogosphere is clear and simple; they are now concentrating on showing the "nice guy" aspect of their war-mongering candidate.

Sadly, there are millions of gullible voters in the swing states and those folks will call the shots....those of us who live in the solidly colored red or blue states can only hope and pray that Romney's scam fails in those pivotal swing states.

The EC exists to preserve state's rights, not the rights of the individual American voter; one might have thought that the US Civil War would have delegitimized the state's rights argument, once and for all.....sadly, this dangerous anachronism still exists.

The EC has always been a very effective mechanism for promoting voter apathy and generalized functional voter suppression. Both major parties, the campaign donors and the major media prefer this status quo...it makes their lives a lot easier, safer and more profitable than would be the case if the EC were gone or de-fanged.

Sheriff Roy caught his idiot son picking his nose and then licking his finger. “Damn idiot,” he said.

By: slacker on 10/23/12 at 7:30

Mitt did ok. He went Hippocratic oath on em'.. do no harm, don't screw this lead up.
I'm a pacifist that loves teachers, I''l get your lazy arse a job.
Vote ''Mittens''

By: bfra on 10/23/12 at 7:30

Maybe Romney's handler, Sheldon Adison, told him not to act like the snob he really is because he is turning voters off. Somebody made him act more subdued in this debate. Not his usual MO.

By: BenDover on 10/23/12 at 7:33

I think the biggest flub of the night was Obama saying that Romney wanted to dismantle the U.S. auto industry when what Romney had called for was for the crisis to be handled through Chapter 11 reorganization.

By: Captain Nemo on 10/23/12 at 7:34

lol slacker

You have a point bfra, but I think world new is something he does not understands.

By: Loner on 10/23/12 at 7:35

I went to the link that Ben provided..."the right news" is certainly an honest descriptor.
The author zeroed in on the "overflowing toilet" comment...using potty humor is always an effective way to martial the right-wingers and stir their juices....studies show that most most righties were never toilet-trained properly.....they remain anal retentive.....still fascinated by "poop".

By: yogiman on 10/23/12 at 7:37

Damn, Koss III,

I thought Barry felt he was looking in a mirror when he call Romney a liar.

By: BenDover on 10/23/12 at 7:37

The best jab was Romney saying about Putin:

“I’m I’m certainly not going to say to him, ‘I’ll give you more flexibility after the election.’ After the election he’ll get more backbone,” ... ”I don’t have rose colored glasses with Russia or Mr. Putin and say to him I’ll give you more flexibility after the election.”

Romney did say to "Let Detroit go bankrupt"

A managed dismantling of the companies is what Obama did annd it is what the "capitalist" executives of Chrysler and GM wanted.

And it worked because private capital was NON-EXISTENT at the time because of the Bush Recession led by Paulsen and other Wall Street crooks.

By: Kosh III on 10/23/12 at 7:42

Newsflash Ben
The Soviet Union and communism have been gone for 20+ years. Stop demonizing Russia--the Cold War is over and we won.

By: BenDover on 10/23/12 at 7:44

Chapter 11 is a managed reorganization under the law Kosh.

What Obama did was throw out all the secured interest by the bond holders and gave controlling interest of the company to the labor unions.

By: Captain Nemo on 10/23/12 at 7:44

The NCP poll numbers keep rising in favor of Obama as the right and fringe right keep spining thier post.

By: slacker on 10/23/12 at 7:45

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/23/12 at 7:45

I wonder if Mitt could see Russia from there.

No toilet jokes please!

By: yogiman on 10/23/12 at 7:49

Naw, dumba$$,

He told me to stop picking my nose and eating it. Then he ask me who in the hell taught me how to do that; that damn dumb fool they call Captain dumbo?

And when I told him yes, he said, "I thought so, he's the dumbest damn kid I've ever known.

By: bfra on 10/23/12 at 7:49

Blanket - Ben can probably see Russia from his condo or at least say he does if it would help Romney.

By: slacker on 10/23/12 at 7:51

Come to think of it, Russia might have already given them a nuke.
The plot thickens.
