It's 6:45. Where's everybody?

Good morning, Nashville!

I am here, Darge, still in Albany...as for the debate topic...I would not vote for the guy who was appointed by Metro last November...Metro is corrupt, so their choice for this position is probably also corrupt.

Nashville has a serious "old boy" problem....the old mob's boys are running the show. The instant, unopposed, 28 million-dollar award to Bud Adams this week, with no debate or discussion, is proof positive of the mob-friendly mentality on the Metro Council.

Another example of Metro-based corruption is your taxi permit system...one guy owns 3 of the 5 working taxi companies in Nashville...and he keeps competition out, by way of friends on the Metro Council. That's corruption, baby.

Examples of shady dealings abound.

Nashville has fundamental flaws in its system of governance...special interests dominate the agenda; the old boy network keeps the reformists out of power.

I understand that a certain Pizza-Pie tycoon is now looking for a government job....Herman Cain would make a perfect General Sessions Judge....of courser, he would be fondling his pepperoni under his judicial robes....women could enter his chambers, and enter a plea deal....Sperman Cain - a perfect adjunct to your present judicial system.

By: govskeptic on 12/9/11 at 8:26

I would suggest whichever candidate is the most "Judge Judy" like in
personality, temperament, and philosophy!

By: dargent7 on 12/9/11 at 8:35

gov: That would be Trump.
90% of his Presidency would concern itself with telling everyone how rich and famous he is at every opportunity.

By: Loner on 12/9/11 at 8:42

The CIA screwed up, again....a state-of-the-art recon drone - a radar-evading stealth aircraft - has been captured by the Iranians, apparently intact. No self-destruct device? WTF? How could that happen?

The Iranians claimed to have over-ridden the control signals...the US denies that. We seem to underestimate the Iranians...let us hope that we stop doing that, before we get involved with another expensive and deadly regional holy war, at Israel's behest.

If and when the IDF strikes Iranian targets, we can expect to see fuel prices double overnight...the stalled recovery will become a full scale recession...or worse. Maybe that is the GOP-Israeli master plan. The Israeli economy was not affected much by the 2008 meltdown....the Israelis can afford to pay more for the fuel....we cannot.

I can definitely believe that Republican lawmakers would conspire with the Israelis, to instigate an unpopular war, so as to remove Pres. Obama from power....the Israelis and the Republicans hate Obama's guts. The US Congress is filled with de facto Israeli agents...with very few exceptions, they all take Israeli Lobby cash....and follow orders from Tel Aviv....Helen Thomas spoke the truth.

gov - I would say Judge Joe Brown, he takes no BS from anyone.

By: dargent7 on 12/9/11 at 8:55

I like the gal on "People's Court". Very pretty. Smart-ass, too, in a playful way.
Aside from plaintiffs go missing after the trial, she's quite good.

That Philadelphia judge, Mark A. Ciavarella Jr, who sent all those kids to the private prison, in exchange for kickbacks, would fit right in as General Sessions judge for Metro, Nashville....of course, he'll be in a "country club prison" for about 28 years...but when he gets out, Metro can send him a job application.

Sorry to be correcting anyone but it's not Newt Gingrich, it's New Gingrich!

Looks like the hair spray debates will feature Newt and Santorum, moderated by the Cosmic Comb Over. The RNC Chairman has dissed the event. Rush Limbaugh still likes the idea. Hopefully, men with fire extinguishers will be standing by in the studio...one tiny spark in that hair spray enriched atmosphere could set off a deadly conflagration.

The event will be sponsored by Aqua-Net Hairspray and Viagra.

WTF? Double postings now? Gotta be an NCP glitch....I'm completely innocent!

Newt Gingrich, New Gingrich it is still the same old Ginrich.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/9/11 at 9:40

Double the message, Loner ;-)

By: dargent7 on 12/9/11 at 9:46

The big topic over at USA Today is the VT shooting.
Half want to arm all college students with 9mm hand guns.
It's amazing to me how the first reaction to a shooting is, "See, we all need to be armed at all times, in all places".

By: yogiman on 12/9/11 at 9:47

Loner,

I'll agree, Nashville "seems" to have an "in house" government. I don't really know because I haven't lived there in over half a century.

But with your "residential" knowledge maybe you should move down and take it over. You wouldn't have to throw your brain over the fence as far.

Just teach Metro's officials how they run New York. I'm sure it'll be better or worse.

By: Loner on 12/9/11 at 9:47

Yeah, Cap'n, double your pleasure...double your fun....like Double Mint Gum.

Where are you getting those Newt quotes?

By: dargent7 on 12/9/11 at 9:49

L'ner: On YouTube there all these clips of Spanish tv station's women anchors, weather girls, reporters, etc.
All have 36DD's and have plunging necklines to show 'em off. Short skirts, too.
After watching 20 seconds of the clips, I didn't need my daily Viagra.
So different here in America.

By: Loner on 12/9/11 at 9:52

The facts speak for themselves, Yogi...I stand by my 7:16 post....Metro has a serious corruption problem....some folks are committing felonies as we speak...like Judge Ciavarella, they never expect to be caught....in their arrogance, they get sloppy in covering their tracks.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/9/11 at 9:53

It seems to me that the shooter wanted to kill the armed cop, in the first place. Then he took is on life a few moments later.

It just goes to prove what I have said before; if someone wants to kill you they will do it at their connivance and on matter how armed you are.

By: yogiman on 12/9/11 at 9:55

dargent7,

I believe statistics show there is less crime in areas where the criminal knows their "victim" might be armed. Every criminal hesitates committing a crime until they're sure their opponent is not armed.

When you give up your 2nd Amendment rights you are giving the government the power to take over all of your Constitutional rights. You become a puppet.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/9/11 at 9:56

You will love this one Loner.

“This is one of the great tragedies of the Bush administration. The more successful they’ve been at intercepting and stopping bad guys, the less proof there is that we’re in danger…. It’s almost like they should every once in a while have allowed an attack to get through just to remind us.”
~Newt Gingrich, at a book talk in Huntington, NY, April 2008, saying that Republicans should allow terrorist attacks on American soil to remind us of the dangers in the world.

By: yogiman on 12/9/11 at 9:58

For such pleasure, you could always move further south, darrgent7. Weather announcements are good, ain't they? You could see them closer further south.

By: Loner on 12/9/11 at 9:58

Darge, I watch the Sabato Gigante show on Saturday nights...it's like a throw-back to the Ed Sullivan show...only with lots of T&A....they host a weekly beauty contest on that show...Caliente!

One can see the residual effects of Puritanism in the US, when one compares and contrasts English-language vs Spanish-language television. No pixelation on the thonged buttocks.....ARF! ARF!

By: Loner on 12/9/11 at 10:05

Cap'n Nemo, Newt believes that the Israelis are our Divinely sanctioned overlords...anything that the US can do to advance apartheid Zionism in Palestine is fine with the Newtster.

The Israelis share Newt's views vis-a-vis terrorism; without a regular and reliable boogey man, the alarm bells tend to get ignored....You gotta produce a real wolf, once in a while, if you are going to cry "WOLF!!" everyday....Newt understands and concurs with the Israeli motivations and rationalizations....he's a Gentile Zionist....he would be the Israeli PM's US vassal.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/9/11 at 10:19

Not one of the Freshman Republicans that road the wave on Newts GOP Revolution has endorsed him for President.

Yeah, the person shot was armed AND trained. It didn't help, it probably won't help for anyone else.

Canada, with it's extreme restrictions on guns is SUCH a wild west type place with soooooooooo much violent gun crimes. Like Detroit (sorry Darge) on steroids.

By: Kosh III on 12/9/11 at 11:03

As to the topic, Jameson did a good job on the Council so keep him.

By: BenDover on 12/9/11 at 12:11

The VT thing sounds really fishy. The guy walks up and shoots the cop... then flees 1/2 mile or so on foot while changing his clothes... then shoots himself?

There's more to this story.

By: dargent7 on 12/9/11 at 1:00

"May a weird Holy man have unprotected sex with your sister".

By: dargent7 on 12/9/11 at 1:03

Police involved shootings where a cop is killed is never, "fishy".
From what I read, it was a traffic stop and the guy shot him in the face.
Sadly, it happens to cops all across America. Especially "domestic violence" calls.

By: yogiman on 12/9/11 at 1:44

The civilization of today should warm all cops when they are on a call they should be prepared for immediate reaction.

We have too many civilians who aren't civilized.

By: yogiman on 12/9/11 at 1:45

Wrong key, meant warn all cops.

It was a 3rd party who shot the cop not the guy the cop stopped. Then he changed clothes and then he shot himself. Strange.
