As always, all answers were purely political.

By: dargent7 on 1/17/12 at 5:04

Watched it for 10 minutes.
Huntsman was the only semi-unscathed one who's gone.
Perry is a wimpy joke.
Paul is too extreme and too old.
I wouldn't trust Gingrich, if I gave him a $5 to get me a coffee would bring me back any change.
Romney is pandering and flipfloping to gain these crazy "Evangelicals".
"Abortion is murder"..."No restructions on gun ownership", "Secure our borders"...."Strike Iran, then Syria"....
Romney could very well beat Obama. It will be a squeaker.

Good morning, Nashville!

"What were the highlights, and lowlights, of Monday's debate in South Carolina?"

I dunno...is anybody still watching those poor excuses for debates?

The electoral process is just theater...the special interest groups run the show....I'm not a big fan of commercial-filled, orchestrated entertainment of this type.

It makes no difference if a Democrat or a Republican gets elected to the presidency...they follow orders, read from a script, go where they are told to go and mainly pose for pictures etc. The War Super Lobby is in full control...the Commander-In-Chief is their top employee.

This will become even more true in the future, as the USSC's Citizens United decision eliminates the last vestiges of decency, legitimacy and honesty in our electoral system.

If you want to know who will win the presidency in November, read the Israeli newspapers; they are way ahead of the game...they select our leaders for us....isn't that special?

By: Loner on 1/17/12 at 6:26

"Abortion is murder"...except when the Israelis perform 50,000 of them in state-sponsored Israeli abortion mills....on the US dime.

Israeli women have the right to choose, but gentile women have no such right, according to the GOP hopefuls....the American fetus has a right to life....Israeli fetuses apparently do not.

The state of Israel has a God-Given right to exist...the Israeli fetus does not?

Somebody needs to quiz those GOP A-holes on that bit of high hypocrisy.

By: dargent7 on 1/17/12 at 6:58

The major problem (among a laundry list of denying everyday people "rights"), is they will outlaw abortion.
Santorum is especially vocal in his stand: "Even when the mother's life is at risk".
So, these rich, white men, force the teen, usually black or Latino, to have a child even in rape cases.
So, she does. Goes on unemployment and they want to restrict that to 40 weeks.
Then, they want to cut her off from welfare and Foodstamps. What's she to do?
Just like GW Bush & Co. with Iraq. They possess neither the intelligence or moral compassion to realize America can never take over a Muslim country.
Whether it's Shiite or Sunni, or Bath, Americans in politics are too dumb to think things thru beyond the barrel of a gun.

By: Loner on 1/17/12 at 7:13

Gingrich accuses Obama of being the "food stamp president"...in other words, Obama is the N-gger president...that's red meat in the former confederacy...Newt knows how to play the race card...he's a pro.

Still, I get no response on the Israeli abortion mills hypocrisy...any GOP types here want to explain the Republican - Tea Party's double standard for Jewish women as opposed to gentile women? Sounds like Jewish supremacy advocated by the goyim....what gives?

By: treehugger7 on 1/17/12 at 7:14

If men could get pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament. Bumper sticker from the 70's, still true today.

By: govskeptic on 1/17/12 at 7:17

As one who watched the debates and has less interest in the constant
Israel debate than a few, this was the best debate of the 15 or 16 thus far.
3,000 in attendance and certainly more rowdy than others. Unfortunately,
most of the same subjects covered, but without as many attempts at
getting "gotta you" moments for the Re-election committee to use!

Winner, like it or not, was Newt with answer to question about getting
black youth back into the work force. Received standing ovation from
a large majority of the crowd! Perry didn't do very well. Mitt, did a good
job especially on explaining Bain Capital and how these investments
firms work. So, if you didn't watch it, or hate white men, or those that
still want to talk about Bush-Cheny and not about 2012 and the current
conditions then complaining amongst yourselves will be fun!

By: Loner on 1/17/12 at 7:20

Amen, Treehugger...it would be considered a virtue, for a man to undergo an abortion...no doubt bout that. Some day, one of these holymen is going to get pregnant up the colon...then we shall see how the national holymen handle that one....given enough time...it's gotta happen sooner or later.

By: Loner on 1/17/12 at 7:22

Gov...you need meds? Can't follow your train of thought...please clarify...thanks.

By: yogiman on 1/17/12 at 7:35

Loner,

Pregnancy in women is the same all over the world. Except for those that get it through injection, they all get pregnant in the same way. And men are all part of the game.

It's just too often they have the attitude "if you knock them up, you just knock them out"... by aborting the baby that had nothing to do with it. They surely didn't have the choice to created by people who didn't want them to begin with enough to kill them.

After all, all they wanted was to just have a little fun, wasn't it?

If you don't want to get pregnant there, is so many simple inexpensive ways to avoid it before you have your "fun". Does taking such simple actions really spoil your fun?

By: Loner on 1/17/12 at 7:36

Newt thinks of pregnant black women as containers of "Janitor in a Drum"?

Newt did not suggest teaching young black men to shine shoes, as in the past..he has improved, now it's the "Janitorial Professions Solution" to black unemployment...for Newt and the GOP, that's "progress".

"Hey boy, mop the floors...then shine my shoes." That's Newt!

By: dargent7 on 1/17/12 at 7:42

Newt's biggest pandering sell-out platform is to deny Foodstamps and UN-employment benefits. Put major restrictions on them once he denies an abortion. He's a throwback to the 50's as far as ideology, human, and women's rights.

By: yogiman on 1/17/12 at 7:45

Obama exposure #12

Barack Obama is the most liberal person in office since Franklin Delano Roosevelt and will continue to aggressively expand federal control of the economy from financial management to personal energy use.

By: Loner on 1/17/12 at 7:46

And Newt's wife, Caligula, she looks like an abortion in high heels...that could explain Newt's position?

When the campaigns go South, they really go South.....appealing to the mouth-breathing bottom-feeders....using the Jesus thing to cover the hate.

By: treehugger7 on 1/17/12 at 7:54

Love your humor, Loner!

By: yogiman on 1/17/12 at 8:01

Sorry, treehugger7,

That remark isn't humor. Its absurd to make such a comment about another man's wife when you would knowingly find fault with someone making such a remark about your own wife... especially if you loved her.

By: Loner on 1/17/12 at 8:06

Thanks, Hugger..I'm a little fired up this morning...several of my posts were deleted on an NPR site...and Haaretz won't post my comments this morning....for similar reasons...the Helen Thomas effect.

By: Kosh III on 1/17/12 at 8:09

Yawn.....Fascists all look the same.

By: govskeptic on 1/17/12 at 8:53

Sorry Loner on that clarifying thingy, maybe you're just trying to run too
many postings on too many publication for that Helen Thomas minded
thinker to absorb. One point very well made last evening by Ron
Paul was the difference in Military spending and Defense spending.
His point being he would cut the Defense spending, yet still maintain
adequate funding for strong military spending! Also well received.

By: yogiman on 1/17/12 at 9:09

Well... it looks like 'Obama' is only the second felon to sit in the Oval Office, although he wasn't a pardoned felon. Number 1? Bill Clinton.

Facts:

Bill Clinton registered for the draft on September 8, 1964, accepting all contractual conditions of registering for the draft. His draft number was 326-46-228

He classified 2-S on November 20, 1968

He was reclassified 1-A on March 20, 1968

He was ordered to report for induction on July 28, 1969 He refused to report and was inducted into the military.

Bill Clinton was reclassified 1-D after enlisting in the United States Army Reserve on August 7, 1969, under the authority of Col. E. Holmes. Clinton singed the enlistment papers and took the oath of enlistment.

He failed to report to his duty station at the University of Arkansas ROTC, September 1969.

He was reclassified 1-A on October 30, 1969 as his enlistment with Army Reserve was revoked by Colonel Holmes, and Clinton, now AWOL and subject to arrest under Public Law 90-40 (2) (a). Registrants who have failed to report remain liable for induction.

Clinton's birth date lottery number was 311, drawn December 1, 1969, but anyone who had already been ordered to report for induction was INELIGIBLE.

Clinton ran for congress in 1974 while a fugitive from justice under Public Law 90-40.

He also ran for Arkansas Attorney General in 1976 while a fugitive from justice.

On January 21, 1977, Bill Clinton received a pardon from President Jimmy Carter making Bill Clinton to be the first pardoned federal felon to serve as president of the United States.

(these facts come from Freedom of Information requests, public laws and various books that have been published. And none of these facts have been denied by Clinton)

But wait, there's more... after I feed my dogs and have my second cup of coffee.

By: yogiman on 1/17/12 at 9:32

govskeptic,

I fully agree with Ron Paul on the military issue.

There used to be State Guard units to defend their home states. I know because I was a member at the age of 13 (I know, I lied about my age to join). There was also a National Guard to protect the nation from attacks.

As I recall, the State Guards were 'wiped out' because of Gov. Wallace using Alabama's unit against Dr. King.

Why is the National Guard now being used in foreign nations that haven't set foot on our land? When did it start?

Wasn't Bill Clinton in office reducing our "debt" by reducing the armed services?

By: Loner on 1/17/12 at 9:34

Yeah, Gov...I could be over-taxing my capacities this morning.

Can you summarize the difference between Military spending and Defense spending, Gov, as Ron Paul sees it?

By: Loner on 1/17/12 at 9:40

How about that Italian cruise ship disaster...death toll at 11...seems the captain disobeyed the rules and came too close to shore...then he left the ship before the evacuation was completed and refused to go back when the Italian Coast Guard requested that he do so....Chicken of the Sea?

Some Dutch outfit is going to try to save/salvage the wreck....talk about a tough job....good luck!

By: BenDover on 1/17/12 at 9:53

Newt clobbered it last night. He may make a horse race out of it yet.

By: yogiman on 1/17/12 at 9:54

More about felon in office Bill Clinton:

After the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished. How many were found?

After the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 5 U.S. Military personnel, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished. How many were found?

After the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19 and injured 200 U.S. Military personnel, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished. How many were found?

After the 1998 bombing of the U.S. Embassies in Africa which killed 224 and injured 5,000, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished. How many were found?

After the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole which killed 17 and injured 39 U.S. Sailors, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished. How many were found?

Maybe if Clinton had kept those promises an estimated 3,000 people in New York and Washington,DC who are now dead would still be alive today.

This is about this: It is a strange turn of events that Hillary Clinton got $8 million for her forthcoming memoirs and Bill got about $12 million for his memoirs, yet to be written.

And this is for two people who spent 8 years being unable to recall anything about past events... while under oath!

Its amazing how your memory works, isn't it?

By: yogiman on 1/17/12 at 10:03

Loner,

A slight explanation on the Military and Defense services. The Department of Defense was formed to determine ways to defend our nation in case we came under attack.

The Military was formed to defend our nation overseas when necessary. We had a National Guard to respond to and attack at home.

We now have much fewer military personnel and more national guardsmen, thus we have moved our national defense overseas.

Did you see Rick Santorum outfox Romney on the voting issue.... how funny (and sad) is that?

The troll is not providing a source for the BS; here is one of many sites that are spreading the manure:

Did any of y'all get the letter of solicitation I received Saturday from Barry? Damn, he addressed me as Dear Mr. Wade. He 'don't' know me, does he?

If you read that solicitation word for word, it tells you a lot about his goal in office.

And no, I didn't send him any money on his behalf.

One has to wonder, if Republicans like Santorum had their way and all forms of contraception becomes illegal, does that mean that vasectomies will become illegal and have to be performed in back alleys with coat hangers? Oh, the horror!!!!! :-)

Good Morning gang!

Hope all is well.

As for the Debates -- don't watch em - same lines of horse sh!# repeated over and over by those whose loyalty will change to the highest bidder.

On a side note, I would like to withdraw any support I had for the Occupy movement...was walking to the Y downtown yesterday and passed the camp...just to see some a hole peeing on the wall. Apparently it's a homeless camp now.

Big ole thank you to Gov. Haslam for screwing the pooch on that one....

By: pswindle on 1/17/12 at 10:24

The GOP debates have become an embarrassment, silly and it shows how unsuited they are to be president.

By: Loner on 1/17/12 at 10:35

Hey Jvh2b...it's bee a while since you last posted here. I agree Haslam panicked...sent in nearly 100 uniformed troopers (and several under-cover cops) to squash the movement, at the outset. The plan backfired...like a lot of Tea Bagger ideas....they are counterproductive....I believe that your (pastor wannabe) Governor's ideas are counterproductive to the goal of advancing the prestige, wealth and appeal of the Volunteer State....guy's a throwback...a Mayor Daley-1968 type....IMHO.

By: Loner on 1/17/12 at 10:38

Pswindle is right, the GOP debates have become a silly spectacle. Overexposure of the candidates...too long and drawn out....the GOP Convention isn't until September, and already folks are sick of looking at these guys in suits...it's human nature..we tend to burn out easily these days.

By: jvh2b on 1/17/12 at 10:42

Yeah had the holidays, then a trip to Vegas for New Years (THAT was fun) then catching back up at work, thus the gap.

Glad to be back.

By: Loner on 1/17/12 at 10:44

Wait until the GOP Super PACs start slicing and dicing President Obama...I pity the voters in the handful of "battleground states"....those poor devils will be exposed to the most expensive, most vicious display of political hate-messages in the history of mankind.

Maybe the Electoral College is a good thing after all....only a small fraction of the country is actually being courted and "seduced" by the major parties and their supporters....we have Democracy Lite, not the full-strength stuff...maybe that's a blessing in disguise....we could not handle the full-strength stuff.

By: Loner on 1/17/12 at 10:48

Welcome back...we do not always agree on issues, but I respect your ability to express your views in a cogent and fair manner.

I feel that way about Ben Dover as well...we often disagree, but we remain friends.

By: Loner on 1/17/12 at 10:49

10:48 post was directed at Jvh2b...and Ben, of course.

By: dargent7 on 1/17/12 at 10:51

I just cannot envision the USA gaining any ground, moving forward, with Obama in the W.H. in 2012. Want 2013-2017 another re-play of the last 3 years?
Bless his black ass, but 55% of America hates him. He did his best given what he had to play with. In Vegas, it's all arithmetic. Some bluffing, but the cards laid on the table says it all. In the end.
He'll never get anything accomplished if elected the next 4 years. I don't want 4 more years of this stalemate, mumbo-jumbo, bullsh***..
All the GOP will say is, We told you so" if Obama is re-elected.
For 4 years.
Give it to Romney so we can all say, "See, ass-hol**, it ain't that easy".

By: jvh2b on 1/17/12 at 11:00

I just can't do that darg.

Yes there are issues w/ Obama...but at least he's coming around on some of his campain promises...if not a bit late.

As usual, it's down to the lesser of two evils...and I'm forced to agree w/ Loner on them both being in Israel's pocket.

If we are danged if we do and danged if we don't, at least we aren't going regressive by driving back human rights 50 years.

Even if we are in jail w/o hope of trial....

By: yogiman on 1/17/12 at 11:12

Thank you for recognizing my intelligence, brrrrk.

By: BenDover on 1/17/12 at 11:29

It's only been one year of stalemate, darge... his first two years were a free-for-all. It's no so much obstructionists as it is a huge hang-over from ugly two-year leftist Obama-Pelosi-Reid syzygy. Out of that was birthed Obamacare, Dodd Frank, $750,000,000,000 in pissed-away stimulus dollars, and ritual burning of the $500,000,000,000 of TARP repayments at the stake for the glory of Obama.

If you want to talk obstructionists then let's bring up all the Dems who won't let us return to a status quo of deficit spending in the mere hundreds of billions. Nope... big government got a taste of that $1,500,000,000,000 a year deficit spending; and it tastes good!

By: Loner on 1/17/12 at 11:29

Darge, I feel your pain...what can we do?

You may be right, if Romney gets in, we on the left can start the carping and haranguing, instead of doing the defending and apologizing. they'll have the ball...we will try to strip it...to use an NFL analogy.

Sadly, it won't make any difference who gets in, when it comes to the really big issues. We are going to go to war with Iran, no matter who wins in November...if we aren't already in a war with them by that time. My crystal balls are clear on that.

Obama will be forced to support the Israelis, if and when they attack...but Romney would not need to be forced into submission to the Israeli PM...Romney would be a willing vassal....if Romney looks like he might win, the Israelis may hold off on their strike on Iran, until after he is sworn in...Jan. 2013....after that, it's Armageddon dead ahead.

The Israelis will decide this issue for us...we should remain calm....we are in Good Hands...the Divine Intervention thing is on our side....Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition:
