Up for Debate: Haslam avoids deposition

Friday, February 8, 2013 at 12:39am

Do you think Gov. Bill Haslam should be deposed in the Occupy Nashville suit? What do you make of the Attorney General's contradicting what Haslam said about their policy discussion regarding the arrests of protesters?

I think Governor Haslam would be highly amusing while being deposed.

I'm sure there would be some hilarious gaffes and yet another nationwide story to rival the promise of Klansmen to march in Memphis protesting the renaming of Confederate named parks.

Let him speak.

We all need a good laugh.

By: yogiman on 2/8/13 at 5:36

Doesn't the governor have legal advisers? Could it possibly be Gov. Haslam has some advisers that would like to see him our of office? This is a "wait and see" situation. It should be interesting as to who wins.

By: Loner on 2/8/13 at 7:07

Good morning, Nashville.

The governor panicked when the Occupy Nashville protesters exercised their constitutional rights...he hastily sent in the cavalry.....it was massive overkill....Haslam is a cowardly figure...he freaked out.

There were more undercover cops at the demonstration than demonstrators.....when it comes to cracking down on the "dirty hippies", the "cash-strapped" TN government has unlimited funds and resources. Now, legal costs are sucking cash out of the state treasury, to cover Haslam's sorry @ss.

Haslam is an inept, if not corrupt politician....throw the bum out.

By: Rasputin72 on 2/8/13 at 7:47

LONER.....Given a choice, I would throw you out and keep Haslam.

By: treehugger7 on 2/8/13 at 8:07

Given a choice, Rasp, I would throw you out and keep Loner and Haslam!

By: bfra on 2/8/13 at 8:17

treehugger7 = I would definitely keep Loner over Raspy. Haslam, I am not so sure! Raspy IMO, has already been thrown out, he just hasn't realized it yet.:-)

By: Rasputin72 on 2/8/13 at 8:35

Being an arrogant elitist I would expect 80% of the rabble would gladly throw me out and keep LONER.

Fortunately Ikeep my distance from rabble like you.

By: bfra on 2/8/13 at 8:46

Raspy - So you admit, at least 80% are upstanding citizens that don't go along with your pitiful few.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/8/13 at 9:36

Rasputin has 1% of yogi’s mental ability and yogi only has half a brain and that is nothing but crap.

By: yogiman on 2/8/13 at 10:19

Frankly, dumba$$,

Half of the brain I still have is far superior to that little pod you was born with.

By: yogiman on 2/8/13 at 10:23

You know, dumba$$,

If you had a brain to fit even 1 tenth of your ego you wouldn't know what to do with it.

I feel sorry for what your parents got for a son.

By: bfra on 2/8/13 at 10:53

yogi, when you was born, you parents probably thought you was some kind of insect, so they beat you on the head everyday, thus the idiotic creature now.

By: yogiman on 2/8/13 at 12:17

No, bfra, my dad whipped me on my a$$... almost every day. I usually had to stand up several hours after he "whupped" me.

There seems to be something that makes the lives of you and your "equals" on this site different than mine. And our characteristic differences are enormous. I prefer mine.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/8/13 at 1:16

That explains a thing or two.

By: dargent7 on 2/8/13 at 1:36

So, "yogi" got a "good ass whoopin'".
See parents at Walmart smackin' their kids?
It's embarrassing. See wild animals slap their offspring? Ever?
Dr. Spock is turning over in his grave.
So is Charles Manson's mother.

By: yogiman on 2/8/13 at 2:02

Apparently don't know what this world was like in it's history, dargent7. Maybe you'll mature someday. I sure hope so.

By: bfra on 2/8/13 at 2:36

By: yogiman on 2/8/13 at 2:02
Apparently don't know what this world was like in it's history, dargent7. Maybe you'll mature someday. I sure hope so.
That's a dumb statement for you to make. 80+ ancient years old & you haven't matured yet. Do you still suck a teat?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/8/13 at 2:51

bfra, I think his dad whacked him upside the head one too many times.

By: yogiman on 2/8/13 at 3:01

Yeah, bfra. I still love them. Do you have one you're offering?

By: bfra on 2/8/13 at 3:18

yogi - Try 1 of your sows, more your type. Plus, the pigs probably will overlook your smell.

By: yogiman on 2/8/13 at 4:31

Well, since you came up with the suggestion I thought you was making an offer. I imagine my sows would probably be better tasting.

By: bfra on 2/8/13 at 4:46

That couldn't be true, because your mini mind doesn't think!

By: Loner on 2/9/13 at 7:09

Yogi shares a telling anecdote: "...my dad whipped me on my a$$... almost every day. I usually had to stand up several hours after he "whupped" me."

Yogi's dad, if the story is true, was a sadistic A-hole....Yogi got his genes and his A-hole training from his dad....if Yogi has kids, chances are that they too are of the same ilk....Yogi's dad was probably beaten by his dad too....this sort of child abuse is trans-generational and this kind of regular abuse thrives in isolation....in the privacy of the home...or the woodshed...basement dungeon or what have you.

Maybe we should be kinder to this victim of regular childhood beatings? yogi's hate for Obama could be displaced hate for his cruel father?

By: bfra on 2/9/13 at 7:31

Loner - Problem being, the ole boy lies so much, one can't believe anything he puts on this board.

By: Ask01 on 2/9/13 at 8:22

Loner, I believe your theory explains perfectly the attitude of our lead troll and several others of the ilk.

As far as being kinder, anyone who grew up in the South during a certain period was indoctrinated, to some degree at least, with the concept of blind respect for authority.

This idea of meekly knuckling under to authority of any sort created a chain reaction. Those abused by authority, to find a release for anger and frustration, had to impose their authority on anyone unfortunate enough to be subservient to them.

Many people overcame those dire times and resolved not to perpetuate the cycle of abuse.

That said, the troll in question has had, if his biography is true (snort, LOL) some exposure to a broader world, but seemingly refused to learn. In fact, if the account of being a prison guard, (a job I consider indicative of stunted social growth, low self esteem manifesting inferiority complexes, and sadistic tendencies) is true, the job, hardly honorable in decent society, allowed him to feel artificially superior to people who would have ripped his lungs out had they not been caged.

So, no. Extra consideration is not appropriate as the opportunity to shuffle off the oppressive ignorant mantle he wears so proudly was refused.

Even though too many in the South are forever mired in an imaginary society created by early sitcoms, significant numbers have removed the blinders and shackles to embrace a larger community.

The archaic and provencial attitudes are dying, rather rapidly, in fact, but there are still enough coonskin cap wearing rubes scattered in isolated enclaves to serve as a millstone to the rest of the region.

The upside is many of their offspring are much more educated and open minded. As soon as the oldsters die off, the South will begin to slowly crawl out of the cesspool created by the neandrthal element.

By: bfra on 2/9/13 at 8:29

Ask01 - I agree 100% & how I hope your last paragraph is true!

By: yogiman on 2/9/13 at 9:03

If I was as brilliant as you and your "slick six" buddies think you are, I would think I knew everything you did plus what I already know. But as it is, I know more about many things than all of you combined.

You have stated you graduated from high school in 1961. Hell, kid, I had served 7 years in the Navy when you was still a kid in grade school. If you wasn't too stupid back then you may have made it to the 6th grade when I was discharged. And yea, I was supposed to serve only 3 years but Harry Truman got us in that Korean conflict and I had to stay in service. Aerographer's Mates were hard to find back then.

In the time period of my childhood we children were taught the meaning of respect. We grew up differently than you and your "buddies" on this site. We were taught to say 'yes sir' and 'no sir' or 'yes ma'am' or 'no ma'am' when we spoke to someone 3 years older then we. Maybe you all should take a class of ethics.

And whip our a$$ back then? Hell yes! And the children of my childhood period were much different than the children of your time period. I imagine we were taught more about respect and obedience.

And consider the fact our teachers could whip our a$$ or send up to the principles office if we deserved a harder whipping. You didn't want your parent to find out about it or you got a harder shipping at home for embarrassing your parent because you got a whipping in school.

And we sure didn't need armed guards in our schools back then. But now?, the times they are a' changing.

And yes, I have kids. They are in their 50s now and I'll bet my kids are different from yours in ethics. They never hang up the phone when I talk to them without saying 'I love you, daddy'. What does your kid/s say; 'bye daddy': or 'bye momma' to the others on this site? Or maybe they're so sophisticated they say Father or Mother. I like being the plain old daddy.

By: yogiman on 2/9/13 at 9:21

As an old man, I'll give you a little advice, young man. If you live in a time when jobs are hard to fine and you need one, you'll take any damn job you can find, unless you want to put your hand out for welfare.

And for a little more information on working in prison: You will learn a hell of a lot that might surprise you unless you're already as smart as you think you are. Working in a prison isn't just being a guard, you have to control the prisoners by out thinking them, and believe me, most of them aren't a bunch of dummies. Especially in a federal prison.

It boils down to your having to out think a man and they don't have anything to do but "figure you out".

But then, that's where I got my "nickname;" yogiman. As one of the inmates told me; they couldn't figure me out. They never knew where I would be when I was on duty. By my way of control I earned their respect and they 'stood by my side' if I got into a "situation".

And you all can't figure me out here either, can you? I laugh like hell at some of the remarks you idiots make when you comment about something when you can't possibly have an idea about what you're saying.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/9/13 at 9:31

yogi if you had any smarts about you would be ashamed of just how stupid you are.

By: bfra on 2/9/13 at 9:35

My goodness! Reading yogi's comments, HE has got himself blown up bigger than a "BLIMP"! Sorry yogi, you can't fool people that read your BS junk.

By: yogiman on 2/9/13 at 9:38

I'm not surprised on your agreement with Ask01, bfra, since he's exploiting his ignorance on the issues compared to you and your "buddies".

But one little issue you "brilliant folks" should understand. OK, I know you can't, so let me explain. I grew up in a different USA compared to yours. And the children of today are growing up in a nation different than the one you egotistical incipient pompous a$$es have grown up in. They will soon take over with their superior attitudes like you have from your ancestors.

By: yogiman on 2/9/13 at 9:42

Then don't read it, bfra. I enjoy reading your "crap". And the others, too. I usually get a good laugh out of it.

I'm ashamed to say it, because you shouldn't laugh at idiots remarks when they obviously don't know what they are posting.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/9/13 at 8:38

We laugh at everything you post yogi.

By: Ask01 on 2/10/13 at 10:48

Good morning Captain Nemo.

I laugh at him even without read his pointless comments.

By: yogiman on 2/10/13 at 8:44

I just wondering, Ask01,

How are you all going to feel when your man is brought to the forefront?

Will you enjoy going down and watching him walk into your favorite prison's doors?

I'm gonna laugh like hell.

By: pswindle on 2/10/13 at 11:00

What are you saying? Haslam could not do a sit down deposition unless he was sitting on Ron and Beth's lap with them telling him everything to say and think.

By: gdiafante on 2/11/13 at 6:51

I grew up in a different USA compared to yours. And the children of today are growing up in a nation different than the one you egotistical incipient pompous a$$es have grown up in. They will soon take over with their superior attitudes like you have from your ancestors.

Yes you did. So did I. So does everyone. Do you know why? Because things change. If you truly desire life as it was 60 years ago, get Neflix and start watching old movies. That's as close as you're going to get.

And a little FYI, don't confuse being self-aware with being a pompous ass. From my perspective, your constant whining about things going back to a time that doesn't exist, not to mention conspiracy theories, show you to be aloof, whiney, paranoid, intellectually archaic and a bit delusional.

By: yogiman on 2/11/13 at 7:36

Ah, but I like my USA better than yours. The people were so much better then. We didn't have the crimes being committed back then.

And why has it changed so much? Because the government took control over the citizens and began making them subjects.

By: gdiafante on 2/11/13 at 7:39

You're USA doesn't exist anymore, yogi. It's a dream of a bygone era. And, you're ignoring one key thing that was (supposedly) a trademark of that bygone era...personal responsibility. Blaming a half-cocked the government made us do it conspiracy is laughable.

Stop blaming the government just because the rest of us have evolved.

By: gdiafante on 2/11/13 at 7:47

And really, let's look at "your" USA...Jim Crow, misogyny, political blacklisting...yeah, what a time.

Let's put women in dresses, get the color out of the neighborhood and have a nice little BBQ in Levittown...that's not the USA, it never was...it's a myth.

By: Loner on 2/11/13 at 7:52

Ignoring the troll...hoping that a new City Voices section comes up for Monday, Feb.11, 2013...this board is stale....and steenking of troll droppings....we need a new litter box!

By: Captain Nemo on 2/11/13 at 7:56

Just wondering old fool, how are you going to feel when nothing you have said come true.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/11/13 at 7:59

By: yogiman on 1/26/13 at 3:13
dumba$$, you couldn't even pass a spelling test, let alone a test of intelligence.
Want to try one? Check on google or bing and take a test.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/26/13 at 3:33
I took the test yogi and a made a 100.

By: yogiman on 1/26/13 at 7:30
I feel so humiliated, dumba$$, to get beat by an idiot as ignorant as you.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/26/13 at 9:53
That makes you the dumbest dumb ass…yogi.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/11/13 at 8:01

Loner if they don’t change the litter box, then we should do as my cats do and think outside the box. lol

By: bfra on 2/11/13 at 8:05

Nemo - Nothing the old fool has predicted in 4+ years has come true!

By: Captain Nemo on 2/11/13 at 8:25

He is too stupid to know that he is stupid.

By: yogiman on 2/11/13 at 8:54

Just the opposite of how you're going to feel when I'm proven to be right, dumba$$.

How about using your 'brilliance' and explain to me what Obama meant when he said "I'm so proud to COME BACK HOME and see all you people are here." That occurred on August 26, 2006 when he 'went home' to campaign for his cousin Raila Odinga running as presidential contender.

A US senator should not go to a [foreign] nation and politic for anyone..., even a cousin.

By: yogiman on 2/11/13 at 9:11

It has taken time for the USA I grew up in to become the USA you kids are living in. It's called politics, kids. You may even continue to love it when it becomes communist.

By: pepawjoe on 2/11/13 at 9:19

HeyTn Voters. Haslam did what MOST Politicans "DO ANYWAY". He BOUGHT THIS STATE", PERIOD!"
He's isolated Himself from the People of Tn. He's paying MORE to "HIS" appointees, but "ISN'T GETTING MORE" for those Individuals. Making huge MISTAKES that is a Burden to Tn TaxPayers.

By: gdiafante on 2/11/13 at 10:11

Here's an idea, yogi...prove it now. Enough with your cryptic you'll find out hyperbole. Time to put up or shut that hole of yours.

Go on...we'll wait...we've already been waiting four years...lol
