Up for Debate: Humane Society takes on walking horse abuse

Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 10:48pm

What do you make of the Humane Society of the United States' graphic undercover video (which can be found on YouTube)? Pepsi pulled its sponsorship of the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration over the release of the video. Reports of abuse have been around for years. Do you think authorities will ever crack down on the practice?

yogi, I think they used the same poison the Borgias used, very sneaky.
Only detectable by Nick on CSI.

Met him at CPAC a few weeks before he died... called him the conservative Honey Badger (intended in the most complimentary way). He didn't get it. Nice guy... didn't take any sh*t though.

slacker,

For some reasons, the cause of deaths seem to often come up different that the cause of an actual death. It's often considered a convenience to their political opponent.

slacker - That would work, if the budweiser comes with it.

Speaking of horses and budweiser, I saw two big trailers pulling the Clydesdales last week coming off I24 and cutting down Hobson Pike; probably on the way to I40. It brought tears to my eyes. Those horses are magnificant.

I wish Obama would just simply go up in a poof of smoke - you know - like a geni who came out of the lamp and then just went back in. But that's wishful thinking. He and Karl Dean belong together. Who wants to take bets that Karl's next campaign is for the Governor of TN seat?

No Sidney, Karl will take over Coopers seat. Coop. will want to run for Alexanders senate seat. Deans campaign slogan will be: Happy bicycle trails, and more taxes for all.

slacker,

Alexander isn't running this time. Bob Corker is in the race. I believe Alexander has 4 more years.

Since they were both "in the deal" to get Obama elected, they both need to go. Why congress has let Obama get away with the treasonous laws he has pulled is disgusting.

His latest crime is he and Holder filing a suit against Arizona for enforcing national immigration laws in the Mexican government's benefit and the drug cartels.

By: slacker on 5/18/12 at 7:24

Dean also has 4 more years as mayor.

I may hit Cooper as a challenger from the Democrat primary side next cycle. The libs in our district will go for an immigration reform, gay marriage supporting, police state hating fiscal conservative. Plus... I'll learn to dress snappy and speak with a slow southern accent.

Dean can drop out of the Mayor's seat if he thinks he can win and decides to run. And he can stay in his Mayor's seat until after the election so he can be paid to run for a higher office.

I saw one headline that Shelbyville is shocked by the video. Why? All anyone has to do is visit any of the stables where horses are kept after showing. Of course a lot of stables will not let just anyone in that area. Wonder why? You will see horses with open oozing sores from the soring methods, they can hardly stand and constantly shifting. trying to ease the pain. Anyone responsible for this abuse should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!

Saturday morning check-in......

I agree, Bfra, those who deliberately injure horse's hooves, using chemicals to burn the hooves, so that the horses walk in a peculiar manner, ought to have their own feet immersed in caustic chemicals, so that oozing sores result...then we shoot a video of these sick bastards walking around on their bleeding feet...naked....while a gathered crowd judges them on "style" points.

That would be poetic justice...as it is...they'll maybe pay a fine and then continue with the practice....give it a while and the outrage will subside.

This happens around this time every year before the celebration. There are some, very sincere in wanting this stopped, but there is money behind the ones that don't. As in every other situation, MONEY talks! Sad but true.

Nemo - Guess you will attend the Star Trek convention at Opryland convention center. If you google Deal Chicken, there is a 50% off ticket offer.

bfra,

One of the few things I would agree with you on. Any one who would deliberately cause pain by a deliberate treatment to an animal shows how juvenile the adults are.

I also rarely agree with Loner but I would fully agree with him in bringing them to court for prosecution.

“proof of smoke” I think the old girl was trying to say a buff of smoke. I wonder what she was smoking.

Sorry, nimrod, you can have a poof, puff or fluff, but no buff.
