Does Jon Huntsman's announcement to get out of the race for the GOP nomination surprise you at all? How does the pack stack up now?

Didn't really know anything about the guy except he was another Mormon.
All I care about is how did the Packers look so bad last night? 15-1 during the regular season and looked worse than the Titans when it really counted.

By: bfra on 1/16/12 at 7:29

If the packer's QB had any help, they could have won that game! Brady blew Tebow clear out of the park & broke the TD record for TDS in 1st half!

By: dargent7 on 1/16/12 at 7:32

The Packers did receive help from an outside source. No, not Tebow's Jesus but the officials. They HAD to be paid off.

By: bfra on 1/16/12 at 7:52

d7 - IMO, not in the game I watched.

By: Loner on 1/16/12 at 8:05

Good morning, Nashville!

Huntsman dropped out? Greenbay dropping balls was more newsworthy, than Huntsman drooping his pursuit of the presidency.

The GOP base could not hack it...two cult members running as GOP contenders was too much for the Judeo-Christian theocrats....it's bad enough with Mitt being the front-runner. The "Christians" are disgruntled....they want a bona fide born-again in the WH, not some "cultist".

The born-again bomb-agains have buggered the Republican Party...live by the creed, die by the creed.

Obama exposure #11- "Green" Energy Crisis
A "green" energy crisis is coming under "President" Obama. A crisis that is necessary to justify the "green" takeover of the nation's energy system. Sounds crazy? Wait, you'll see.

While the Americans are watching football, our little buddies in Palestine are planning for more holy war. Obama wrings his impotent hands and tells Panetta to prepare for Iranian retaliation against US forces when out-of-control Israel strikes the Persians.....all those billions of US dollars in military and economic aid to Israel and still, we are absolutely powerless to reign in our Middle East attack dog?

Obama is a total phony...the Nobel Peace Prize has been denigrated and soiled....he is being carried along by events...like a cork floating on a raging river....he is being swept up by events and is powerless to do anything about it.....this is not the hope & change that he promised us....this is gross incompetence at the highest levels.

I suspect that we will be involved with a shooting war with Iran by November of this year....that's Obama's best shot at getting re-elected and he knows it.....he's gonna pull a Junior Bush on us and start a war, in order to stay in power. The new boss is the same as the old boss.

By: yogiman on 1/16/12 at 8:24

Huntsman was not well known nationally and the point he had taken an ambassadorship under Barack Obama wasn't good for him.

He was finished before he started.

By: bfra on 1/16/12 at 8:25

Loner, you are going a little overboard, IMO, just because Obama won't legalize pot.

By: dargent7 on 1/16/12 at 8:31

bF: I never knew you were legally blind.

By: bfra on 1/16/12 at 8:33

d7 - Last exam, still 20-20!

By: yogiman on 1/16/12 at 8:33

Well, Loner, it looks like you might be waking up a little bit. It'll be good when you get your eyes wide open.

Question: Why will the US be in war with Iran because Iran is in war with Israel? What will be the reason? To win re-election? I doubt it. Too many people have learned of his inadequacy by understanding his outrageous expenditures on his gold games and vacations when the nation is almost bankrupt.

By: govskeptic on 1/16/12 at 8:37

Jon Huntsman and wife had dinner the night before his announcement with
"Conservative" Senator Lamar Alexander and wife, and then appeared in a
plaid shirt a day or so later to show that he too was a down to earth
true "Conservative"! Even with our own Ingram's Group advising the campaign
the only support they received was from the press and democrats.

By: global_citizen on 1/16/12 at 8:41

Huntsman was far too sane and logical to get any real traction with today's Republicans.

By: joe41 on 1/16/12 at 9:00

Huntsman was the only candidate that I was interested in as the rest (besides Romney) are too extreme or flaky. Sorry to see him quit the race.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/16/12 at 9:33

I thought Huntsman was the better of the candidates; therefore he could never be the man for the far right-wing of the GOP.They would never vote for a man of reason.

Green Bay was good, but not good enough. Next Year!!lol

By: Captain Nemo on 1/16/12 at 9:37

I suppose the next question is Ginrich, Perry and Sontorum team players and drop out of the race.

By: BenDover on 1/16/12 at 10:03

Jon who?

By: Loner on 1/16/12 at 10:05

Obama is a reneger...not just on Cannabis reform....Israel still crafts US foreign policy and it still takes about 750 million dollars to win the presidency....only now, the unregulated super Pacs can augment the money spent by the the political parties...super PACs will certainly outspend the major political parties in this election.

Obama's USSC appointments suck...he added a third Jew and a sixth Roman Catholic to the nine member court....devout Catholics and devout Jews are closet theocrats...some are well out of the closet. This is not hope & change...this is a slide into Judeo-Christian theocracy.

By: dargent7 on 1/16/12 at 10:05

Huntsman was far too sane..."
He lived in Utah as a Mormon.
No coffee, tea, alcohol, cigarettes, porno, MA or X -Rated movies.
Have to sex standing up, with the lights OFF.
Thery're one notch below the Amish and Hare Krishnas in asterity.
They believe mankind can BECOME God, not just "Godlike".
Their founder, Joseph Smith, Jr. saw BOTH God and Jesus in a wilderness.
Pat Robertson, oral Roberts, Jerry Falwell, Jim Bakker all talked to the Lord.
Even GW Bush "walked with Jesus".
This religion component in America is asinine.

By: govskeptic on 1/16/12 at 10:11

Jon did have the best looking wife of the lot and spoke the best Chinese!

By: Loner on 1/16/12 at 10:30

Gingrich's wife, Caligula, frightens me.

Santorum's wife makes me nauseous.

Romney's wife does neither.

Obama's wife is OK....but alas, her hubby is full-o-shit.

Ron Paul's wife looks like yer typical sweet granny figure, IMO.

Now, if the candidates could just parade their dogs about, so we could judge them too....their cats too....we have the right to know and certainly the need to know....First Dog and First Cat are items of interest for many Americans.

And the candidate's choice of underwear...this too is a significant factor.....oy!

So, did the Lord abandon Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos? Some say the Pats made a deal with Satan...did you notice that the Pat's coach had his hoodie up all game? Covering the devil's horns?

By: Loner on 1/16/12 at 11:09

Tebow is golden, Captain...he will make millions just from the Christian endorsements etc.

Focus on the Family ran a 30-second ad during the game...little kids reciting John 3:16....brainwashing on display? If we saw little Iranian kids reciting verses from the Koran in a 30-second spot, we'd accuse them of child abuse.

These American kids are scared of going to Hell? Shame on Tebow and Focus on the Family....they are child abusers, IMO.

I read an article this weekend that said that 54% of Republicans actually said they believed that God helped Tebow win the Steelers game. Maybe there's some kind of hidden message in the game stats that would explain why God abandoned Tebow in his moment of need in the Pats game. Or it could be (now I know this is a stretch here) that the Broncos just weren't up to the job, barely sliding by a wounded Steelers team, and the Pats just effectively kicked their collective asses.

By: bfra on 1/16/12 at 11:18

IMO, people that are sincerely religious, do not wear their religion like a badge.

By: Loner on 1/16/12 at 11:44

Welcome to the forum, Nom Faux...cool username, IMO.

I am surprised that only 54% of the Republicans believed in Divine Intervention on Tim Tebow's behalf....maybe the secular wing of the GOP is starting to flap?

If there is a secular wing in the GOP-TP, it is probably pulling for Mitt Romney at this point...or Ron Paul, for the more daring.

RP is getting an endorsement from state Sen, Tom Davis, in SC...he's the fiscal conservative guy with political clout in SC.

If RP goes rogue, all bets are off...he would draw from the center as well as from the left and right periphery - the so-called, "extremist" folks who agree on policy, for different reasons.

IMO, RP, as a Libertarian choice, could net more than 20% of the popular vote, perhaps even more...with zero electoral votes. This would draw attention as to why we need to scrap, or reform the EC altogether.

In that three-way scenario, RP's ideas and views would have to be addressed by the wounded, less than legit winner.

Ron Paul is the only guy out there who is aware of the problematic nature of the US-Israel special relationship. He's the only non-theocrat in the GOP field.

The Israelis hate and fear Ron Paul....need I say more?

Loner, I'm not sure that the "non-theocrat" moniker is legit for Paul given that he's more than willing to allow the government to interfere with a woman's right to abortion.

By: Loner on 1/16/12 at 12:23

Brrrrk, Ron Paul is a pediatrican/gyno medical doctor....he may base his stand on non-religious beliefs....I don't really know.

I'd like to ask all the right-to-life candidates why they support Israel 100% of the time, but say nothing about Israel's state-run abortion mills....50,000 abortions annually in a nation of 6 million is pretty high; yet these theocrats say nothing about it....high hypocrisy.

Google: Friends of Israel Efrat for details.

Is a Jewish fetus worth less than an American fetus, Mr. President Wannabe? Right to exist for the Jewish State, but not the Jewish fetus? Israeli women have a right to choose, but US women have no such right? US foreign aid funds Israeli abortion mills?

Please explain these double standards, Mssrs. Santorum, Romney, Gingrich and Perry?

Ron Paul is the only guy out there who would pull US aid to Israel...is Ron Paul, the reputed "anti-Semite", the actual savior of the Israeli fetus?

Abortion is murder, any way you look at it. In the earlier days before abortion (murder) got so popular as it is today women had the baby when they got "knocked up" even by rape. I have known women who hated the man who raped them but still had the baby for the baby's life. I always wondered how they could love that baby, but I guess it was because they thought it wasn't the baby's fault.

I have always wondered why they weren't tested and given a "pill" no later than the day an abortion. Why wait until they think they are pregnant then take a test to make sure?

In your opinion. And making it illegal here will only mean that it isn't available as an option for the poor. The wealthy will still take their little "vacations" and come back all fresh and revived.

I don't know if you are a he or a she, but I do know what sex education was when I was a child. Has it changed that much since you came on this earth? As children, we were taught how not to get pregnant.

So, which type of family feels its okay to kill their unwanted baby by a "screw up" because of a few minutes of "pleasure"?

Abortion is murder, regardless of the wealth of your family.

Have your socialist fun, Loner, then read what Dr. Thomas Sowell had to say about it when you come home.

"The current Occupy Wall Street movement is the best illustration of what President
Barack Obama's America looks like. It is an America where the lawless, unaccomplished, ignorant and incompetent rule. It is an America where those who have sacrificed nothing ;pillage and destroy the lives of those who have sacrificed greatly.

"It is an America where history is rewritten to honor dictators, murderers and thieves. It is an America where violence, racism, hatred, class warfare and murder are all promoted as acceptable means of overturning the American civil society.

"It is an America where humans have been degraded to the level of animals" defecating in public, having sex in public, devoid of basis hygiene. It is an America where the basic tenets of a civil society, including faith, family, a free press and individual rights, have been rejected. It is an America where our founding documents have been shredded and, with them, every person's guaranteed liberties.

"It is an America where, ultimately, great suffering will come to the American people, but the rulers like Obama, Michelle Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Joe Biden, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakahn, liberal college professor, union bosses and other loyal liberal/Communist Party members will live in opulent splendor.

"It is the America that Obama and the Democratic Party have created with the willing assistance of the American media, Hollywood, unions, universities, the Communist Party of America, the Black Panthers and numerous anti-American foreign entities.

"Barack Obama has brought more destruction upon this country in four years than any other event in the history of our nation, but it is just the beginning of what he and his comrads are capable of.

"The Occupy Wall Street movement is just another srtep in their plan for the annihilation of America.

"Socialism, in general, has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it."

- Thomas Sowell

If you don't know who Dr. Sowell is, look him up.

I have been accused as a racist because Barack Obama is black and I have tried to offer nothing but evidence on who Barack Obama is. Nothing could be further from the truth. If I have ever mentioned his race in any ofmy statements, name one.

But you have proven yourselves to be racists because you voted for him simply because his was the"first black President" of the USA. That is racist ignorance.

Another little "fairy tale" for y'all. Its about the three who brought down Wall Street. Aren't they the once that created the Occupy Wall Street gangs? They were the Fannie Mae executives. Let's look at them:

Franklin Raines: He was a Chairman and CEO at Fannie Mae. Raines was forced to retire from his position with Fannie Mae when auditing discovered severe irregularities in Fannie Mae's accounting activities. Raines left with a "golden parachute" valued at $240 Million in benefits. The government filed suit against Raines when the depth of the accounting scandal became clear.

Tim Howard: He was the Chief Financial Officer of Fannie Mae. He was a strong internal proponent of using accounting strategies that would ensure a "stable pattern or earnings" at Fannie Mae. Investigations by federal regulators and the company's board of directors since concluded that management did manipulate 1998 earnings to trigger bonuses. Raines and Howard resigned under pressure in late 2004. Howard's "Golden parachute" was estimated at $20 Million.

Jim Johnson: He was a former executive at Lehman brothers and who was later forced from his position as Fannie Mae CEO. Investigator found that Fannie Mae had hidden a substantial amount of Johnson's 1008 compensation from the public, reporting that is was between $6 million and $7 million when, in fact, it was $21 million. Johnson is currently under investigation for taking illegal loans from Countrywide while serving as CEO of Fannie Mae. Johnson's "Golden parachute" was estimated at $28 million.

So, where are they now?

Franklin Raines works for the Obama campaign as his Chief Economic Advisor.

Tim Howard is a Chief Economic Advisor to Obama under Franklin Raines.

Jim Johnson was hired as a Senior Obama Finance Advisor and was selected to run Obama's Vice Presidential Search committee.

Doesn't that make you sick to your stomach? If it doesn't, you must be an Obama hopeful.

By: dargent7 on 1/16/12 at 3:25

Abortion is murder?
So, then, a woman has a miscarage and loses the "baby" at even 3 months, what is that?
When a child is born,''stillborn", premature, and dies, what is that?
God's killing off the human race?
The problem systemic with Republicans, either all white men or frigid repressed women, is that they deny girls/ teens/ young adults all the necessary teachings to PRE-vent a pregnancy. Contraception, birth control, condoms, sex education, morning after pills, RU-486....
Then you have serially pregnant fools like Sarah Palin get banged up at 43, with already 4 kids, and is told the "baby" has Down Syndrome, and she brings it full term. She was rich and could afford the care.
Tebow's mother got very lucky. She's one in a million, not the norm.
50% of pregnant women should NEVER carry their pregnancies to full term.
Rich, white, black, Asian, Latino. Especially if you're indigent, unemployable, uneducated, on drugs, homeless. Don't burden society and ruin another life.

I little more "fun" for you, brrrrk.

On Saturday, July 24, 2010, the town of Prescott Valley, AZ hosted a freedom Rally. Quang Nguyen was asked to speak on his experience of coming to America and what it means. He spoke the following in dedication to all Vietnam veterans (see if it means anything to you).

"35 years ago, if you were to tell me that I am going to stand up here speaking to a couple thousand patriots in English, I'd laugh at you. Man! Evey morning I wake up thanking God for putting me and my family in the greatest country on earth.

"I just want you all to know that the American dream does exist and I am living the American dream. I was asked to speak to you about my experience as a first generation Vietnamese-American, but I'd rather speak to you as an American.

"If you've noticed, I'm not white and I feel pretty comfortable with my people.

"I am a proud US citizen and here is my proof. It took me 8 years to get it, waiting in endless lines, but I got it, and I am very proud of it.

"I still remember the images of the Tet offensive in 1968. I was six years old. Now you might want to question how a 6-year old boy could remember anything. Trust me, those images can never be erased. I can't even imagine what it was like for young American soldiers, 10,000 miles away from home, fighting on my behalf.

"35 years ago, I left South Vietnam of political asylum. The war had ended. At the age of 13, I left with the understanding that I may or may not ever get to see my siblings or parents again. I was one of the first lucky 100,00 Vietnamese allowed to come to the US. Somehow, my family and I were reunited 5 months later, amazingly, in California. It was a miracle from God.

"If you haven't heard lately that this is the greatest country on earth, I am telling you that right now. It was the freedom and the opportunities p;resented to me that put me here with all of you tonight I also remember the barriers that I had to overcome every step of the way. My high school counselor told me that I cannot make it to college due to my poor communication skills. I proved him wrong. I finished college. You see, all you have to do is to give this little boy and opportunity and encourage him to take and run with it. Well, I took the opportunity and here I am.

"This person standing tonight in front of you could not exist under socialist/communist environment. By the way, if you think socialism is the way to go, I am sure may people here will chip in to get you a one way ticket out of here. And if yo don't know it, the only difference between socialism and communism is an AK-47 aimed at your head. That was my experience.

"In 1982, I stood with a thousand new immigrants, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and listening to the National Anthem for the first time as an American. To this day, I can't remember anything sweeter and more patriotic that that moment in my life.

"Fast forwarding, somehow, I finished high school, finish college and like any other goofballs 21 year old kid, I was having a great time with my life. I had a nice job and a nice apartment in southern California. In some way and somehow, I had forgotten how I got here and why I was here.

"One day I was at a gas station. I saw a veteran pumping gas on the other side of the island. I don't know what made me do it, but I walked over and asked him if he had served in Vietnam. He smiled and said yes. I shook and held his hand. The grown man began to well up. I walked away as fast as I could and at that very moment, I was emotionally rocked. This was a profound moment in y life, I knew something had to change in my life. It was time for me to learn how to be a good citizen. It was time for me to give back.

"You see, America is not just a placed on the map, it isn't just a physical location. It is an ideal, a concept. And if you are an American, you must understand the concept, you must accept this concept, and most importantly, you have to fight and defend this concept. This is about Freedom and not free stuff. And this is why I am standing up here.

"Brothers and sisters, to be a real American, the very least you must do it to learn English and understand it will. In my humble opinion, you cannot be a faithful patriotic citizen if you can't speak the language of the country you live in. Take 46-page document. I learned of the 500,000 Americans who fought for this little boy. I learned of the 58,000 names scribed on the black wall at the Vietnam Memorial. You are my heroes. You are my founders.

"At this time, I would like to ask all the Vietnam veterans to lease stand. I thank you for my life. I thank you for you sacrifices, and I thank you for giving me the freedom and liberty I have today. I now ask all veterans, firefighters and police officers to please stand. On behalf of all first generation immigrants, I thank you for your services and may god bless you all.

Note that he referred to himself as an American, not Vietnamese-American. Wouldn't it be great if we were all known only as Americans?

I understand, you may have been drinking a little too much thanking Dr. King in his efforts of equalization, dargent7, but a miscarriage has no similarities to abortion.

A miscarriage is just that, a miscarriage caused from one fault or another, but it is not murder.

Let me give you a simple example: Let's say you are drunk and stumbling down the road. You trip and fall and the way you land you break your damn fool neck and get killed.

That, dagent7, ain't murder. That's drinking too much like a damn fool.

If you think that all babies should be born, take a look in places where these non-viable babies are kept alive at our expense. When a doctor says that a baby is not viable, take his word. So many lives have been ruined because they let their religion take over common sense. Even right-wing christans take their little darlings to have abortions, and they hope that no one knows about it because it is so hush-hush.

By: yogiman on 1/16/12 at 7:30

Obviously, we're all different, pswindle. Thank God.I have never known a man who would be willing to let their baby be "eliminated" because of a physical, or mental, cause. Family love is a part of human nature.

But... I reckon there's a few exceptions.

When you are being led away, remember, we told you so!

P.S. D7, there is a big difference between a person's body naturally having a miscarriage and a doctor (or other) going in, on purpose and killing a child in the womb. If you think abortion is OK, why didn't you get your mom to abort YOU? Abortion is murder. Killing an unborn child while the mother is carrying it, is murder. Ask that Scott guy from California who killed his wife and child. So many of them, I can't remember which one he was. Was it Scott Peterson?
