Pretty simple- Trauger knows the law, Haslam does not.

By: yogiman on 6/13/13 at 5:43

The right to free speech must prevail in the USA. The protestors should act as good citizens until the government begins a 'takeover' process... then raise hell in their objection.

By: Loner on 6/13/13 at 5:44

Billy Haslam panicked and called in the state police, SWAT teams etc....the frightened little man over-reacted....the judge's ruling is spot on.

Instead of worrying about a few "hippies" camped out on the state capital's campus, Haslam ought to be sweating bullets about the ongoing criminal investigation of his family's truck-stop empire.....Billy kept those holdings out of a blind trust...now, we know why....he's a friggin' thief.

By: yogiman on 6/13/13 at 6:10

It's easy to accuse, Loner, but your should be ready to prove.

What do you think of our Airmen being order not to read any negative reports on Barry? I haven't read where that order has been issued to the other services... yet.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/13/13 at 6:12

I am expecting a deluge from the right to be calling the judge an “Actives Judge”.

Such a sad start

2 killed, several injured in crash along I-24E in Rutherford County

By: Blanketnazi2 on 6/13/13 at 6:46

I saw that on the news this morning, Nemo. That is sad.

OK - easy to accuse, yogi, but you should have proof. What a hypocrite.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/13/13 at 7:02

Oh, that is different Blanket.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 6/13/13 at 7:02

What a topsy-turvy week. First we have yogi agreeing with the ACLU and now this:

It’s time for churches to reject tax exempt status completely; freedom is more important than government financial favors.

— Gov. Mike Huckabee (@GovMikeHuckabee) June 11, 2013

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/brotherrichard/2013/06/atheist-huckabee-go-to-mars/

By: Blanketnazi2 on 6/13/13 at 7:03

Huckabee had this to say during the Southern Baptist Convention’s annual meeting in Houston:

“You may not clap real loud for this, but at least hear me out and think about it and pray about it,” he said. “I think we need to recognize that it may be time to quit worrying so much about the tax code and start thinking more about the truth of the living God, and if it means that we give up tax-exempt status and tax deductions for charitable contributions, I choose freedom more than I choose a deduction that the government gives me permission to say what God wants me to say.”

Huckabee said it may be time for churches to say: “Keep your deductions. Keep the exemptions. We stand more faithful with what God would have us to say, and we choose our freedom more than our financial benefit.”

By: Captain Nemo on 6/13/13 at 7:24

That won't happen, Blanket. The religious originations that hate gays and anything other than their particular bran of religion, will rather keep the status quo. Free ride while they continue their preaching hate.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/13/13 at 7:26

B/T/W it is a topsy-turvy week.

Government Waste

By: budlight on 6/12/13 at 2:07

Yeah, I'm so stupid I'm making money just to chat with people and I get paid for mileage and an hourly when I'm driving. That's stupid alright. And if the gov-ment (sic) gives stupid a job, how come Obama (sic) is working for the gov-ment? (sic) After all, isn't the presidency a job? How stupid is he?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 6/13/13 at 7:56

Nemo, I agree but it's interesting to see the right becoming so fragmented.

By: Jughead on 6/13/13 at 8:14

Balls.

By: Jughead on 6/13/13 at 8:16

Aleta Trauger is a liberal political activist. What did you expect? A fair application of the law?

She LOVES liberal causes. The law means nothing to her.

By: Jughead on 6/13/13 at 8:19

The right is not fragmented. The GOP is imploding because it abandoned conservative principles.

The right is alive and well. And, we are well-armed.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/13/13 at 8:20

Blanket, this is nothing new for Democrats. They have always had a party of free thinking people and have learned to deal with that reality. On the other hand the GOP has had conservatives that fall in place and does what the leadership dictates.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/13/13 at 8:26

The Republican Party has been infiltrated with low life scum and now is starting to regret the decision to ever of letting them in. If the GOP does not find the courage to remove decaying horde it will never recover to it true principles.

By: bfra on 6/13/13 at 8:36

Nemo - The low mentality of the Teapubs on this forum is very apparent.

By: Jughead on 6/13/13 at 8:44

Liberals are scared of conservatives. And, they should be.

I look forward to the day when the Rule of Law crumbles due to liberalism and I can personally meet the enemies of freedom---liberals. It will not be pretty, but thinning the heard of the lazy and incompetent is necessary from time to time.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 6/13/13 at 8:45

Nemo, I completely agree with your analysis. The left has always been open to diversity of thought which is why it can't always seem to make a united front. The right has no tolerance and is narrow-minded - even more so now with the Tea Party members. But that's a dying crowd. As we can see the GOP is having a hard time recruiting younger members and minorities.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/13/13 at 8:49

bfra-

What I find so unsettling with the GOP is that as a whole they are intelligent and well educated people. They just seem to have thrown away their principles for power. They were infiltrated by the Neo-Cons (disgruntled Democrats) during the 60’s and then Newt’s so-call revolution. Now they are stuck with bunch of hooligans that they can not control.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 6/13/13 at 8:50

That's true, Nemo. Sometimes I actually feel sorry for John Boehner.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/13/13 at 8:55

I don’t Blanket. He sold out to power.

By: bfra on 6/13/13 at 8:56

Blanket = I agree with you on that one. Boehner comes across as a very intelligent & compassionate person. He tries to be fair with the best solution for all conscerned.

By: bfra on 6/13/13 at 8:57

Nemo - What power?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 6/13/13 at 8:58

Boehner isn't a tea party crazy and he has to contend with them in the House. It's like herding wild cats. No wonder the guy is always three sheets to the wind.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/13/13 at 8:59

That is just it, bfra. He has none, but he clings to the illusion of power.

By: budlight on 6/13/13 at 9:03

By: Captain Nemo on 6/13/13 at 8:24
That won't happen, Blanket. The religious originations that hate gays and anything other than their particular bran of religion, will rather keep the status quo. Free ride while they continue their preaching hate.

In 55 years I have never attended a single church that I heard preaching hate. The only time I have heard hate preached was on tv when I hear Jeremiah Wright, Obama's "beloved minister" preaching hate towards whites and damning God.

Explain his rant please. Most of the people who tithe do not do it FOR the exemption, but since it's lawful to do so, why not put it on your taxes? Tithing is a command from God. He gives us 90% and only asks for 10%. Wonder why He didn't ask for 90% and let us keep 10%?

Occupy people need to occupy jobs. I don't think that camping out on the public property is protesting. The anti income tax protesters went to the capitol, protested and then went home. People don't need to stay all night for weeks to protest.
Especially if they have a job and homes. They just wanted to have a law suit to file and they got one.

Oh well, off to ride around and chat with people for a living following my gov-ment training, of course.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 6/13/13 at 9:06

bud, surely you've heard of Westboro Baptist Church.....

By: Blanketnazi2 on 6/13/13 at 9:07

http://hatechurches.com/

By: bfra on 6/13/13 at 9:07

Bud - You didn't go to Church until you was 15 yrs. old? From all the garbage you spout, that isn't surprising. Is that when you started to school, too?

By: Captain Nemo on 6/13/13 at 9:08

That is over her pay grade, Blanket.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 6/13/13 at 9:11

Apparently. Look at the people who post on this board who defend religion then spew hate. It's not like you have to go far to find it.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/13/13 at 9:13

More government waste;

By: budlight on 6/13/13 at 10:03

Oh well, off to ride around and chat with people for a living following my gov-ment (sic) training, of course.

By: Jughead on 6/13/13 at 9:14

Muslims preach hate. Liberals love Muslims.

Make sense? I didn't think so.

By: brrrrk on 6/13/13 at 9:19

"What influence, in fact, have ecclesiastical establishments had on society? In some instances they have been seen to erect a spiritual tyranny on the ruins of the civil authority; on many instances they have been seen upholding the thrones of political tyranny; in no instance have they been the guardians of the liberties of the people. Rulers who wish to subvert the public liberty may have found an established clergy convenient auxiliaries. A just government, instituted to secure and perpetuate it, needs them not." - James Madison

By: Blanketnazi2 on 6/13/13 at 10:06
bud, surely you've heard of Westboro Baptist Church.....

Blanket I've heard OF them, but never heard a preacher or anyone preach a sermon. I know they are blights on the face of the earth and they harrass military families and I deplore that act. Anyone who gave their life for this country deserves the best and these people are hate mongers.

I am 66 bfra; I was introduced to the real Jesus by Rev. Charles Hughes a minister at Williamson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Danville, Va. Prior to that I was taken to Sunday school by my mother's sister and none of it made sense until Rev. Hughes.

Blanket you and others are not so perfect either, but at least I don't claim to be perfect. I'm a work in progress, as we all are.

OK, hitting the road for income purposes. Hope I get one of your home addresses assigned to me. Now that would be fun. BY LAW I have to go back again and again. Not my law - the gov-ment law. Just kidding. If I got one of your homes, I'd turn it over to my boss and he'd reassign it.

By: BenDover on 6/13/13 at 9:22

My wife and I would walk up to the War Memorial to watch the desecration offered by the Occupy Marxists and the homeless who were happy to have a sanctioned camp-ground in the middle of the city.

Geezzz... what a mess. It kept most of the homeless off of lower Broad for a month or two though so that was a plus.

By: bfra on 6/13/13 at 9:23

bud, still posting on taxpayer's money! The holier than thou (according to bud) thief. That is what cheating on the job is bud. Hypocrite!

By: budlight on 6/13/13 at 9:26

Very good Ben. That was the truth.

and bfra, I don't punch in to work till I start driving, so I'm not posting in my car, you idiot. Shows what you know. And calling me a thief is slander. I do not cheat on the job or steal from anyone.

You are such a jerk. You claim to know everyone, including me and my neighbors. Such a jerk.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/13/13 at 9:26

I see that bud is living up the her job, now that she is on her own. Start to work at 10; 03 and then takes a break at 10:19

By: BenDover on 6/13/13 at 9:26

We watched a meeting one day of these free thinking revolutionaries... I lost it on the 'up twinkles / down twinkles' gestures. lol... all they needed was a set of bongos and Loner with his tin whistle and it would have been 1969 all over again.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/13/13 at 9:29

So bud drive around in circles and talks to people. Government waste.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/13/13 at 9:31

Ben I have heard a different story about the Occupy People from a friend that took them trash bags and other supplies. You must have gone on a bad day.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/13/13 at 9:38

I feel sorry for Ben. He has a bud, a yogi and a flea to back him up.

By: bfra on 6/13/13 at 9:40

I don't care who they are, even King Karl & his puppet council people. IMO & pretty sure, according to the law, nobody has the right just to congregate & set up camp on public property. Let somebody urinate, in public, most places & they would be arrested for indecent exposure, not mentioning a lot of other lewd acts that were reported.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 6/13/13 at 9:40

Sort of like John Boehner, huh?
