Well this bring in the needed money for Public Works to fully pay for street repair?

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/11 at 3:38

3. “The idea that a congressman would be tainted by accepting money from private industry or private sources is essentially a socialist argument.”
~Newt Gingrich, arguing that it’s okay for politicians to be bought and paid for.

Daily Mail: George Bush Cancels Switzerland Trip Over Potential Torture Arrest
http://crooksandliars.com/susie-madrak/daily-mail-george-bush-cancels-switze

Well, if Roman Polanski can stay in Switzerland for 50+ years and the US cannot extradite him for a rape that long ago, I'm sure Bush and his daddy, who killed 200,000 Iraqis, if entering that country, would be hung at sunrise.

Gingrich once said the reason of his affairs while in office, "I simply loved my country that much".
Why he is "surging" in the polls is unbelievable. The convicts on "Death Row's" all across the country are perplexed.
Bachmann would be a step up.

Good morning, Nashville!

Dragged over (and regurgitated) from the main board for this topic:

Panem et circum.....again.

Bread and circus is Standard Operating Procedure in Nashville, TN...Metro sees its central role as that of entertainment provider to the masses...and kickback provider to sweetheart contractors.

Yeah, in Tennessee, they don't need no steenking educational overhaul, they need publicly financed, professional sports entertainment facilities. Keeping the masses distracted from serious issues, by providing spectacular sports events, keeps the under-educated public compliant, docile and ignorant....it's a very old trick, but it still works quite well in the Volunteer State.

By: Loner on 12/6/11 at 6:27

Newt, like each and every US elected official, has deluded himself into thinking that accepting bribes is patriotic...it's a form of free speech...he is extremely presidential in that regard.

Obama spent 750 million dollars in order to get elected and we know how patriotic Obama is.....he set a world record in "patriotism" in 2008...he is sure to be even more patriotic this time around...a billion or so to get re-elected is my guess.

The Republicans agree that accepting bribes is patriotic, they just don't have the same high levels of pecuniary patriotism as the Dems seem to have....they tend to be cheapskates...look at Herman Cain, for example, too cheap to keep paying his mistress' rent....cheapness is a killer....just ask the Sperman.

By: dargent7 on 12/6/11 at 6:41

Just watched Trump alongside Gringrich mubbling about something.
They look like a Creamsicle.
The Donald's orange hue and hair, and Newty's pasty white face and hair.
I hope Obama eats them for lunch.

L'ner: The Tennessean published one of my incredibly brilliant LTE's today.
Something about Cain being a slutty, POS dog...
It's on Facebook now, respond to it and I'll get your address so I can send you a Christmas Card.

By: Loner on 12/6/11 at 6:58

The Donald is more orange than Boehner? I'll have to adjust the color on my TV...I thought that Boehner needed a Sunkist logo on his forehead, to set his skull off...a fashion statement and a juicy source for liquid cash from the citrus industry.

Limbaugh was defending Trump and Dissing George Will on his show yesterday...trouble in paradise? Yeah, I see an opening for a GOP savior figure to step into the race....probably Jeb Bush....maybe they'll run old HW Bush again...he only served one term, he's still eligible and now he's growing senile...the perfect combination for a Republican President....another Gipper.

By: Loner on 12/6/11 at 7:00

I'm not registered with Facebook, Darge...don't believe in it...it's a huge scam, IMO. I am thinking about registering with Assbook, however.

Give me the URL for the Tennessean LTE, I'll respond there, if I can.

By: dargent7 on 12/6/11 at 7:22

L'ner: I'm suprised you don't post over there anyway. No "yogi" or Sid sightings, thank God.
Just pull up Tennessean and drop down the OPINIONS toolbar at the top: "Letters to the Editor". As of last Sunday, you have to have a Facebook account to reply.
Mine's about Cain. Luckily I only used the "N" word twice to bypass their "southern style" filters.

By: Loner on 12/6/11 at 7:25

Notice how more and more newspaper forums are going over to the Facebook system...they are farming it out to a subcontractor....factor in the Helen Thomas effect and voila you now can stifle a lot of anti-Israel criticism in this simple manner. Most Americans do not know it, but Facebook is owned and operated by eyeball rolling Zionists - on a mission from God. Like I said, it's a scam.

By: Kosh III on 12/6/11 at 7:28

"Luckily I only used the "N" word twice to bypass their "southern style" filters."

You mean since it's the South, the filters are set up to block "black, Afro-American" and only allow N-i-g-g-etc? LOL

By: Loner on 12/6/11 at 7:32

This Facebook scam is brilliant...a handful of facebook censors can now frame and control the public debate....and nobody is the wiser....brilliant!

I can see the writing on the wall...soon, all these boards will be Facebook boards...the period of the "free internet" is rapidly coming to an end... the clever Zionists have found a way to consolidate the public debate into one central clearinghouse of Zionist-approved ideas....Facebook....it should be called "Racebook"...it's a filthy racist scheme to control public discourse.

By: Kosh III on 12/6/11 at 7:36

I have no problem since it will be paid for by the people who want to attend the games.

I only wish the fee was going from 2 to 5 instead of 2-3 so that the bond could be paid quicker, or that some of the money would go to our crumbling schools or pothole fixes or...well...about anything.
Just yesterday there was an article about how much money the school board needs for capital improvements and that they DO NOT HAVE the money.

By: Loner on 12/6/11 at 7:39

Darge, the Scott Johnson LTE? Looks like a Republican Tea Party dude wrote that.

By: govskeptic on 12/6/11 at 7:58

This 25 million expenditure will go through without questions from
both Council or Sports Authority. One can expect that any additional
revenue through ticket increases or parking will always benefit the
Team owner versus facility owners (taxpayers).

One can also expect many more stories now starting with lack of
paving budgets and more capital expenditures for schools to
continue by many other departments. Have to set the ground
work and sad stories to justify next big tax increase, which will be
assessed on mostly over assessed property values!

By: dargent7 on 12/6/11 at 8:04

L'ner: No. mine's in the cellar...last one about, "Cain still profits..."
K-3: Only people from Detroit can effectively and legally use the "N" word.
Sorry.

By: Loner on 12/6/11 at 8:19

If and when the attendance drops off, the taxpayers are left holding the bag? Myself, I would definitely have a problem with that.

Looks like there is an unlimited budget for two things in Nashville, state-sponsored pro sports and SWAT teams...the SWAT teams are there to control the dirty hippie protesters who don't attend the spectacular games; but carry signs and occupy public campuses. It's all part of the same mission - Crowd Control.

We can thank the "limited government" folks for this sorry state of affairs.

One other item: there seems to be deep pockets in Nashville... for financing public art...like the Quilt Display on the overpass, the bronze statuary etc. Again, that's part of the "circus" function, for local governance... TN style.

The priorities in TN are different than those around here...our protesters are tolerated and our sports teams are not on the public welfare rolls...we aren't into million dollar quilting displays and such....we put our money into schools, highways, public water supplies and sewage disposal projects etc. It's not so glamorous, of course...but the work needs to be done and we do it....we don't play games.

“Give the park police more ammo.”
~Newt Gingrich, responding to a reporter who asked what to do about the homeless a few days after the police shot a homeless man in front of the White House.

“The problem isn’t too little money in political campaigns, but not enough.”
~Newt Gingrich on campaign finance reform.

By: govskeptic on 12/6/11 at 8:30

Sounds like Upstate NY is the place to live if you want your tax
dollars to go just where one wishes they were spent. May look
into Condos in the Buffalo area where the people are always smiling!

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/11 at 8:32

It was a neat deal for Bud Adams, Loner. He gets it all and we the people have to get permission from him do be able to do anything with the stadium. If fans fail to fill the seats, the tax payers buy the empty seats.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/11 at 8:35

It is a nice part of the wworld gov, if it was not for the winters I would think about moving. I like the Finger Lakes area too.

By: Loner on 12/6/11 at 8:39

Found your LTE, Darge...short and sweet...nice. I agree.

I won't join Facebook...if that means that my posting career is moribund, so be it..it was fun while it lasted. Once Facebook gains control of the mainstream media's Comment Boards, we can blow "Taps", for the "free and open" internet debate forum. The party will then be over, folks, Big Brother will own the Comment Boards...I don't want any part of that phony deal.

Out of respect for the moribund "Free and Open Internet Comment Board" :

By: Loner on 12/6/11 at 8:53

No, things are not perfect in Western New York; but we try.

We have had our share of sex scandals involving elected officials...4 or 5 big ones in the past few years...and yes, in New York, good ideas soon become the law...the nanny state idea is popular around here.

The Empire State is far from being a "liberal beast"....a secular Republican could actually take NY's Electoral votes....the NY Democrats thank their God, that there is no such animal as a "Secular Republican" anymore...Nelson Rockefeller (NY Gov and later US VP) was the last of that breed.

The GOP has embraced the born-again Christians and that is a turn off to many NY'ers...especially Jewish NY'ers.

President Nixon's Southern Strategy gained lasting Southern support...but many Republicans, in states like New York, went over to the Democratic side, as a direct result of Nixon's success in winning the segregationist's support.

By: Loner on 12/6/11 at 8:56

It's now "www" Cap'n Nemo...the World Wide Web. Actually, "worldwide" is one word, right? Hmmmm.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/11 at 8:57

Still it is beautiful country and the people are friendly.

Worldwide Pants.

By: yogiman on 12/6/11 at 9:03

Loner,

It looks like Facebook learned a lot from the communist party as they have taken over the USA government of today. Their goal is control.

Remember when you couldn't sass you mother? If you did your dad whipped your ass? We called it 'control by daddy' in my childhood.

By: yogiman on 12/6/11 at 9:09

dargent7,

In case you haven't figured it out, Newt Gingrich was "worked" into his current position the same way John McCain was worked into it in 2008. If someone can now take the nomination from Newt you should look for a martial law next year.

Dragged over from the main board for this story...just to revive the discussion:

By: Loner on 12/6/11 at 9:13

Looks like professional zealots are coming out of the woodwork, to defend the "Unanimous Vote" and the "No Discussion" policies of Metro governance?

So, if the Titans suck and attendance drops off dramatically - as it can and often does in the NFL - then the taxpayers pick up the slack? Sweet.

Call it by some euphemism, if you must, but that's corporate welfare folks....Tennessee style.

I can now see why every taxpayer in the region is rooting for the Titans...it's not that they are football fans, they just don't want their taxes to go up, to pay for the team's defeat....that's pretty clever...it gives the illusion of genuine regional enthusiasm for the NFL....ingenious!

By: Loner on 12/6/11 at 9:22

Yogi is not that dumb...he sees Facebook for what it is becoming....a looming universal comment board moderation & censorship service...controlled by state and media-friendly elements....under the guise of free market capitalism and meritorious entrepreneurship... I too smell a very large rat, at the helm of Facebook...I refuse to join in.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/11 at 9:23

Nice quotes Loner. That is the way football is played in Nashville.

If it sparkles the city council will buy it.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/11 at 9:28

Yes he is Loner. He was brainwashed (I’m using the word brain loosely) by McCarthy and he can’t think for himself.

By: yogiman on 12/6/11 at 9:46

I believe you have me confused with yourself, dumba... If you had anything in your skull other than that pea I would be amazed.

No bigger than it is, though, you could play copy cat and take it out and play with it.

By: Loner on 12/6/11 at 9:47

Another cut-paste from the main board:

By: Loner on 12/6/11 at 9:43

A 28 million-dollar loan will require how many more millions in interest, before it is repaid...when will the bonds be paid off and what will be the final cost? Again, no discussion? Unanimous vote?

The article states: The resolution –– which authorizes the issuance of $28 million in public improvement revenue bonds through 2037 –– heads to the Metro Sports Authority Tuesday morning and the full council Tuesday night.

So, here we have Metro rushing at light speed to go into debt for the next 25 years and beyond...to appease a local NFL owner....himself a multi-millionaire. This is absolutely absurd. You and your children, (a 25-year commitment), are being hosed royally...and some locals are coming online to defend this larceny....ludicrous...unless they are in on the sweetheart deal....in that case this madness would make sense.

The NCP should be exposing this "public improvement" scam for what it is, not featuring puff pieces about it. The citizens need to clean house at Metro...something very fishy going on there.

But what of the Internet?
What of Google"?
All the web sites say, " Find out about your family tree". "Is your boyfriend a ex-con?" "Is your husband married to another woman?"
There's NO MORE PRIVACY on planet Earth. Gone. Poof!.
You "google" anyone's name, you get their biography.
I say that's good. I'm sick of chicken shit people attempting to hide behind false ID's, legal proceedings, closet homosexuals, pedophiles, fake names, etc.
If you're a goddamn Catholic, I want to know!

There is no confusion on my part Old fogi. yogi is so dumb he failed a blood test.

By: yogiman on 12/6/11 at 9:56

Loner,

Other than my love of my farm and the privacy I have, your 9:43 post is one of the main reasons why I live in the country. We only have two "guvmunts" to oppose; County and State..., until the city can annex you. Then you can move back into the country again.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/11 at 9:59

More of yogi’s news from the fringe.

yogi so dumb, he forgot his friends number and called her.

Darge, as to your LTE, Cain may profit in the short run...but lawyers' fees are going to eat up a lot of his wealth...and then there's the wrath of Gloria...she may have been biting a silver bullet during Cain's arrogant "goodbye speech"....biding her time...she could take half now and let him pay the legal bills out of his half...he could end up a a pizza delivery boy....or a wino, digging through dumpsters, looking for some discarded pizza fragments...but it's hard to feel much sympathy for the unrepentant A-hole....he brought it all upon himself...he was too crafty for his own good, his personal profit ploy backfired.

By: Loner on 12/6/11 at 10:20

Darge, you have my permission to cut-paste my 10:15 post and put it on the board for your LTE on the Tennessean wenbsite...if you like...tell them I'm "Facebook Shy".

If they want to debate my points, tell them to come here:

Loner look on the bright side of Facebook, it will keep the likes of serr8d from posting. yogi would be exposed and his neighbor would show him to be the liar he is. As for myself I will adapt, to the new format.

Nashville can't buy any better advertising than when you see the sky-line in Monday Night football games. Everyone thought we were just a bunch of inbred hicks walking around barefoot and still using out-houses but now they're pretty sure we don't all use out-houses.

Is it good... is it bad? Who knows? It might have been what brought d'argent here.

I tend to play up the backward @$$ hick thing when I travel to try to keep people away.
