Of course, my views concerning the US-Israel Special Relationship do run contrary to the conventional wisdom.....hence my username.

By: BenDover on 6/20/12 at 9:18

Cool. I'll be able to count on their support if I run against Cooper in the Democratic primary in 2014.

Since I support gay marriage, am for immigration reform, I want to close half the prisons and legalize Marijuana; and I am a real fiscal conservative not just one when Nancy Pelosi will let me be; I think I can win the Democratic primary against him in the 5th.

By: Loner on 6/20/12 at 9:19

Gotta run....my grandson is taking his road test....this is a big deal....later!

And you would be better why?

Guys... 13 points is waaaay out of line. It's embarrassing.

Gallop's got Romney up by 1 which is in line because they've tracked within 2 points of each other since the beginning of May.

By: slacker on 6/20/12 at 9:24

Go for it Ben. The ''Coop'' needs to fly away.

By: BenDover on 6/20/12 at 9:26

I think they peppered it so Obama wouldn't dip below zero on the RCP rolling average.

By: gdiafante on 6/20/12 at 9:27

No doubt Ben. Especially if the public got wind of your ten stones thesis. This is the land of fairy tales (bible belt).

By: gdiafante on 6/20/12 at 9:29

It's a conspiracy Ben. I hope, when you pose for campaign photos, you don't wear your tin-foil hat.

By: slacker on 6/20/12 at 9:33

I actually thought the council would lower the property tax a few cents.
I fear for my early football picks now.

Wear one? That is how ol' Ben is doing to help the unemployment rate - He is going to open a factory here and MAKE them!

By: slacker on 6/20/12 at 9:37

Ben, just don't pose for campaign pics with the wife & children. I just can't take anymore of those.

By: BenDover on 6/20/12 at 9:38

"And you would be better why?"

Coop stays away from the social issues so he can carry the suburbs in the general election revo. Within the Democratic caucus he's very vulnerable there. The 5th is a cornucopia of views now... skewing more and more toward a libertarian mind-set. Lots of new money and enthusiasm for causes like gay marriage, immigration reform and education; and the African American community understands well the problems with our hang-em-high justice system.

Coop's too comfortable and there's little chance of him being taken out in the General against whatever Christian conservative wins the Repub. nomination.

Plus I'll cut every deal on earth to bring home the bacon; as I will owe allegiance to neither party. I'll get the biggest Capital Hill Whore award every single year.

BenDover for Nashville, 2014!

Vote BenDover.. ''he won't roll you over in the clover''

By: slacker on 6/20/12 at 9:40

A huge wallet and long chain in every pot.

By: gdiafante on 6/20/12 at 9:42

Some pot in every huge wallet...I like that better.

By: slacker on 6/20/12 at 9:43

''Hipster's'' endorse BenDover

By: slacker on 6/20/12 at 9:45

I remember when the milkman carried one of those huge wallets attached to a chain.
''What the hell going on''

By: BenDover on 6/20/12 at 9:46

lol gd, slack.

I'm going to trim down to a goatee and have pictures of Maynard Krebs as my campaign logo.

By: gdiafante on 6/20/12 at 9:48

Keep the full beard, then you can get Chuck Norris or the Dos Equis guy to endorse you.

By: BenDover on 6/20/12 at 9:53

Or this guy, gd...

I don't normally endorse candidates...but when I do, I prefer BenDover...

Stay fiscally responsible, my friends.

By: slacker on 6/20/12 at 10:02

Get a Mohawk haircut Ben. Tell 'em your 23/23 Cherokee indian, with a Mohawk,. One who can communicate with ''Mittens,'' the great white father in Washington.

By: slacker on 6/20/12 at 10:02

''Iron eyes Dover''

"No beads and fire-water... me bringem home bacon."

By: slacker on 6/20/12 at 10:19

I fear a PC attack coming congressman Dover. Better circle the wagons.

By: BenDover on 6/20/12 at 10:21

Not since the days of Low-Tax Looper will Tennessee have seen such a blatant pandering to my favored constituencies.

"A chicken in every back-yard"

"Federal money to pay off the convention center!"

"Rainbows over East Nashville"

"Free Uncle Willy (the pothead)"

"Anchor babies for BenDover"

By: BenDover on 6/20/12 at 10:24

See... that's the trick slack. Being a Democrat you can get away with most anything because your heart is in the right place.

By: BenDover on 6/20/12 at 10:31

The way I see it Williamson county pays some of the highest per-capita federal income taxes in the country. And if you've ever traveled I65 you'll see as many cars coming to down-town to enjoy the Hockey games / Football games / Music Events / night-life etc... though since their property is outside Davidson they contribute little directly to the infrastructure.

That's why Bringing Home the Bacon makes so much sense. Why should the rest of the country benefit disproportionately from our neighbors when it's us providing the services? Hell... they don't care where their income taxes go after they're forced to pay them. I'm sure most would agree... Bring Home the Bacon!

Bendover for Nashville 2014!

By: yogiman on 6/20/12 at 11:21

I see where Obama has invoked executive privilege for the first time since usurping office in the "Operation Fast and Furious" in an 11th hour decision on that gun deal with the drug industry in Mexico.

What a surprise. To hell with Eric Holder, Barry doesn't think he should get involved.

By: JohnGalt on 6/20/12 at 11:27

dargent7 wrote, "I don't think most people know The Times is a Gannett paper which also owns The Tennessean, and printed right here on Broadway in Nashville."

Though he is often wrong in his opinions he is not often so completely wrong with his facts. Very little research would reveal that the New York Times is owned by the New York Times Company and has no business relationship whatsoever with Gannett other than doing contract printing and delivering the Times in the Nashville area.

By: Loner on 6/20/12 at 12:51

So, Ben Dover wants to go stealth Tea Bagger and pose as a liberal...to the left of Cooper....I like it! Here's my input:

Ben Dover for Pork.

Bringin' Home the Bacon.

Washington: Squeal Like a Pig!

Chopping the Pork, but Bringing Home the Bacon.

Ben Dover for Congress...Swine Not?

By: BenDover on 6/20/12 at 1:00

lol

You know well my positions, Lone One. I think I match up to his base a lot better than he does.

I'll even refuse to take any campaign money from them Jews if I can get your support.

By: BenDover on 6/20/12 at 1:06

Oh... what the hell am I saying. Of course I'll take money from them Jews! And spend it in Nashville. But giving money to other countries directly contradicts my main campaign plank of Bringing Home the Bacon so unless they pay off our Convention Center I'm cutting them off.

How's that?

By: Loner on 6/20/12 at 1:06

Ben Dover may be a male Chauvinist pig, but he is a firm believer in sow's rights.

Ben Dover is a fiscal conservative; a man who knows a silk purse from a sow's ear.

Ben Dover is a social liberal; a man who believes in Responsible Hedonism....Grow yer own...Roll yer own...whatever....just keep it within one's own species.

As your man in Washington, Ben Dover will squeal like a pig....he'll be that squeaky wheel...he'll get us the grease we need right here.

By: BenDover on 6/20/12 at 1:13

BenDover for Nashville!

By: Loner on 6/20/12 at 1:14

Well, Ben, to be quite frank...the practicing Jews do not eat the flesh of swine.....so we may have to run it by a Jewish focus group....if you want to play the role of David Ben Dover and take a sling-shot to Goliath, (AIPAC), you will get instant notoriety, if nothing else.....fame and infamy are related things....it's your call, Chief.

By: BenDover on 6/20/12 at 1:15

Oh crap. I forgot about the women. I'll have to start working out and upgrade my wardrobe.

By: Loner on 6/20/12 at 1:18

May I suggest Rasputin for Fashion Consultant? He advised me well.

By: slacker on 6/20/12 at 1:45

Loner, lol

By: Loner on 6/20/12 at 1:53

I'm in an upbeat mood, Slack...my grandson passed his road test. The kid needed a break....he did well. His attitude improved immediately....mine too.

By: BenDover on 6/20/12 at 1:55

Good news!

By: slacker on 6/20/12 at 2:00

Loner, congratulations to your grandson.

By: Loner on 6/20/12 at 2:09

I'll pass that on...thanks...I'll tell him that Ben & Slack in Nashville offered their congrats.

By: slacker on 6/20/12 at 2:14

Ben, you'll have to have the women's vote to beat Coop. Your gonna have to go touchy-feely, go so far left you're in the pacific ocean. No more aspirin jokes. The ladies like Coop., Its gonna be tough.

By: puddycat on 6/20/12 at 2:17

" BenDover for Nashville! "

Ben, That's what happened in last night's council meeting.

Hey Ben, If you run for office, I wonder if yogi will run against you ??

By: yogiman on 6/20/12 at 2:27

Naw, puddycat. I don't live in Ben's detrimental district. I can't sell my farm to move there so I'll stay home.

By: BenDover on 6/20/12 at 3:25

I already backed off my push to repeal the 19th amendment, Slack. What more could they want?

Women like the environment and green stuff right? How about high efficiency irons and low impact laundry detergent?
