Up for Debate: NHL locks out

Monday, September 17, 2012 at 1:44am

How do you feel about the NHL lockout that started Saturday night? How much does it concern you, even if it could mean no hockey this season? As fans, how do you feel when major sports leagues hold lockouts while they negotiate over millions of dollars?

bfra, he knows, he just can't admit that a non white is his leader.

yogi is a liar and a coward.

By: Rasputin72 on 9/17/12 at 7:42

Gdiafante..........No one with any knowledge of the NHL can argue with your logic.

As far as your comment about "who gives a rats behind about millionaries and billionaires arguing about more money"

I think this election is going to be decided in favor of Barack Hussein Obama over the fact that the common man (the majority) has decided that the major issue in this campaign is the 1%.

Quite strange in my opinion but a wonderful and creative campaign strategy by Barack Hussein Obama.

The common man has bought into his creative anger towards the 1%. I know if I made $60,000 dollars a year or less and with little chance of being able to improve my lifestyle that I would be reaching for my pitchfork.

By: Captain Nemo on 9/17/12 at 7:43

What ever the reason for the lock-out, I feel sorry for the fans and the merchants. The city needs to be planning and alterative of the empty arena.

By: bfra on 9/17/12 at 7:45

Karl is probably sweating bullets, since he has us in hock to the hilts.

By: Loner on 9/17/12 at 7:48

Prayer vigils could be held in the vacant arena....TN is always in the mood for praying...especially if the prayer is an us versus them sort of prayer...huge Christian rallies could be held there...after all, Nashville is the buckle of the Bible belt....cash in on that....get the puck out and put Christ on the ice.

By: BenDover on 9/17/12 at 7:49

Fisher dinged the Redskins yesterday and almost took out Detroit in the opener.

Blocking and tackling and owning the clock... Fisher style... I think the Rams are on their way to a 9 and 7 season with a good shot a wildcard slot.

By: Captain Nemo on 9/17/12 at 7:49

That anger is legitimate Rasputin and is generated by comments such as you post. Now go puck yourself.

By: Loner on 9/17/12 at 7:50

How about doing the Christmas story on ice? The shepherds in their figure skates....Mary and Joseph doing some ice-dancing...the baby Jesus could leap out of the manger and race across the ice as the three kings skate after him...whadya think?

By: bfra on 9/17/12 at 7:53

Ben made a commendable comment! Hoorah for Fisher, hope he takes the team all the way to the Super Bowl & if so, I will be cheering for them. Bud can sit & cry in his beer.

By: Loner on 9/17/12 at 7:53

So, if there is no NHL hockey in the arena, the taxpayers are forced to make the mortgage payments? You gotta be sh*tting me....did Nashville crave the title of "Jock City" that much? The fix must have been in.

By: yogiman on 9/17/12 at 7:54

bfra,

I presume no one else on this site misrepresents a quote. So, what quote are you claiming I misrepresented?

By: Loner on 9/17/12 at 7:56

Tom Brady and the NE coach looked like they had lost their best friend as they apologized to the press and their fans...forlorn....crestfallen.....depressed....brooding....hey, it's just a friggin' game, man....grow up already.

By: bfra on 9/17/12 at 7:57

Oh the fix has been in ever since Karl decided to use Mama's money, cause he wanted to be King Pin Mayor. He doesn't have to worry about taxpayer's debts, he has Mama's money to fall back on.

By: dargent7 on 9/17/12 at 7:57

I have a topic: What about these 'Green on Blue" killings in Afghanistan?
Another 4 US servicemen were killed over the weekend. Seems these slick little weasels have another plank in their platform on how to kill Americans.
Get trained as Afghan police officers, upon graduation, are issued their Glock. They immediately turn it on the presenters and shoot to kill. 52 killed so far.
I was never in a foxhole, but no way would I feel safe and secure 'bunking" with an Afghan or any Arab.
I once did sit next to a guy in Chemistry class, a Morturary Science major, and he was always sizing me up for emballming and a coffin. Maybe it was my imagination.

By: gdiafante on 9/17/12 at 7:58

Well, that's not really what I said Raspy, but whatever. And, I find it interesting that you seem to think that it's perfectly acceptable for the 1% to fight to keep what they have but not the working class.

Loner, Jesus can skate, that explains the "walking on water". See, the Bible debunked. I'll be going on tour next year...

By: Loner on 9/17/12 at 8:01

The Bills beat the Chiefs yesterday....but the football talk shows barely mentioned that fact....the Bills never get any respect....the Bills could be hot this year....you heard it here first.

By: gdiafante on 9/17/12 at 8:03

Darge, that's why we should be out of Afghanistan...it's not a winnable situation. Period. It's this generation's Vietnam. That's a national tragedy.

By: yogiman on 9/17/12 at 8:04

dargent7,

Your comment about Obama given a visa to attend school in Indonesia. No, You had to be a citizen of Indonesia to attend their schools. If he could attend on a vise, why did Lolo Soetoro adopt him? As commented before, so he could go to school there.

Then the question is: When did he repatriate his citizenship back to the US? What makes you so sure he isn't still an Indonesian citizen?

By: Captain Nemo on 9/17/12 at 8:08

Loner the city goes crazy for any thing shinny. Planet Hollywood comes to town and wants to put up its giant globe. The problem with that is that it is in a Historic District and it could cost the city that Historic distinction. You old friend Sonny West lets it come in while he conveniently turns his back and lets it go up.

Now mind you, they had to get a permit to bring it down Broadway, but fail to get one for it being place on the building. To do that it would have had to go before the Historic Zoning, but for some oversight it was not. There was an unwritten law at that time that said, just do it and then ask forgiveness.

It stayed up and a few months later Planet Hollywood went belly up. They did the same to another history site years ago for Minnie Fried Chicken Franchise, that also went the way of other bad ideas.

I have been considering abandoning this site for sometime now. Not because of the troll that drools on these pages, but because all that keep being lured into his demented nightmare. If not for that I would not pay any attention to his lies. We know that he is a liar and a coward and does not have any comprehension of the authentic humanity in which we all live in.

This coming from a man/woman (?) who supports Obama? Wow! Can one get any dumber than that?

By: bfra on 9/17/12 at 8:45
Karl is probably sweating bullets, since he has us in hock to the hilts.

Karl is not sweating bullets over anything, including the $700,000 that will probably come out of the general fund for the so-called cancelled conventions that are not going to materialize because of the BIG FAT DADDY KARL'S DREAMBOAT CONVENTION CENTER NOT OPENING ON TIME. And we will pay for that. And we are still paying for the floods cancelling out a lot of revenue (who knew a flood was coming - probably not Karl). And so we, the Davidson County taxpayers keep on paying. Look for ANOTHER TAX INCREASE - in the form of reassessment coming to a neighborhood near you -- SOONER than you think or want.

And you people love Obama and Karl. Go figure.

By: Captain Nemo on 9/17/12 at 8:09

Yes one could be budlight.

By: Loner on 9/17/12 at 8:13

Yeah, Darge, the riots in Kabul and the green on blue murders sure seem to indicate that Bush & Cheney were absolute fools for putting US boots on the ground in Afghanistan...of course, neither Bush nor Cheney ever served in a combat role, so they could easily sentence thousands to death and tank the economy in the process, without any feelings of remorse whatsoever....they laughed as they left Obama and America a huge and unnecessary mess....Afghanistan is a total debacle....our illustrious, non-veteran president was unable to stop this madness...he actually upped the ante over there....the Peace Prize is a joke.

For reasons known only to the war lobby, the US is going to remain in that hell hole through 2014.....once we leave, any locals who cooperated with us will probably be be-headed. The landing skids on the US helicopters will be festooned with panicked lackeys when we finally pull the plug on the ridiculous experiment.

And Willard is ready to go to war with Iran...he delegated the responsibility for committing US troops to another holy war to the Israeli PM. Romney should be deported, IMO.

By: yogiman on 9/17/12 at 8:17

Wrong on your 8:33 post, bfra. I, nor you, knows who is in the Oval Office. All you know is who he says he is. If he is who he claims to be, why does he refuse to identify himself?

By: Loner on 9/17/12 at 8:24

Take two draft-dodging Texas oil men and put them in place as Pres and VP and this is the horrific result......put a Nobel Peace Prize idealist in the White House and guess what....nothing changes.....the special interests control the major parties, the president and congress...these elections are pure theater, to entertain the masses....no matter who wins the election, US foreign policy remains the same.....support for the Jewish state and its ambitious and belligerent agenda is absolutely bipartisan in America today.....in order to liberate our political system from foreign domination, we may have to do some nuclear carpet-bombing across all of Palestine....to finally burn-out the infection, once and for all.

NUKE THE HOLY LAND!! Let Jehovah, Jesus and Allah sort it all out.

By: Loner on 9/17/12 at 8:25

The stink of troll droppings is just too strong for the lone one this fine morning...I'm outta here.

By: Captain Nemo on 9/17/12 at 8:29

have a good day Loner.

By: yogiman on 9/17/12 at 8:32

Loner,

You make a remark that Bush nor Cheney ever served in a combat role. Did you? How many on this site have served in a combat role? I have, have you?

What combat role has your man Obama served in? Why does he still have our forces in Afghanistan? Why does he tell our enemies when he's bringing our troops home?

You claim Romney will put us in war. Can you swear Obama won't?

By: gdiafante on 9/17/12 at 8:38

And we are still paying for the floods cancelling out a lot of revenue (who knew a flood was coming - probably not Karl).

Yeah, that dang Karl...he should have stopped that weather system from moving into the area...we all know he has a weather machine. He loaned that to the Dems in order to whip up that hurricane during the RNC...

By: Captain Nemo on 9/17/12 at 8:40

Cleaning the Ships Head is not a combat roll, yogi,

Yogi is a liar and a coward.

By: parnell3rd on 9/17/12 at 8:49

Unions=corruption=lockout. Or in the case of teachers in Chicago who "do it for the kids" a strike.

By: gdiafante on 9/17/12 at 8:50

Why does he tell our enemies when he's bringing our troops home?

So did you not have a problem with Bush signing the Status of Forces Agreement? Do you even know that that is and what it says?

I'll wait...

By: gdiafante on 9/17/12 at 8:51

Parnell, you do realize that the owners are the ones locking out the players...this isn't a stike...lol

By: Captain Nemo on 9/17/12 at 8:56

gdia, like his troll master, p3 has little in the way of understanding. he,he,he

By: Captain Nemo on 9/17/12 at 8:58

Greed = corruption = no morals.

By: dargent7 on 9/17/12 at 8:59

9:32pm Yogi:
Romney, if elected, will bomb Iran in his 1st 100 days. Just to show "how Presidential" he is.
He will gain McCain's ear, nose, and throat and re-surge in Iraq and keep forces in Afghanistan.
That is the Republican platform: A strong Military. At all costs.
$680. billion a year fighting people in robes, sandals, deceit, lies, and a religion that borders on fanaticism and psychosis.
See how Romney now holds his press conferences? Stands at a podium with two American flags behind him...just as President Obama does.
He's "assuming" the Presidency, subliminally, not waiting for a meaningless election.
This guy has a screw loose. And only people who also have a screw loose and cannot assimilate reality will vote for him.

By: Rasputin72 on 9/17/12 at 9:33

Gdiafante.........That is not exactly what I advocated. I am all for the working class to keep what is theirs. What I am against is giving my money to them to make up for what they lost.

Ross Perot kept telling the working class that there was going to be a great big sucking sound as jobs went to foreign countries. Bill Clinton made China an equal trading partner. The working class decided to buy their goods from the Chinese distributor WAL-MART. Corporate American had no choice other than their manufacturing operations to second and third world countries.

It appears to me that the working class worked very hard at exporting their own jobs. If you want to keep your high wages you need to buy your goods from the high wage producers.
If I were going to cast any stones at the 1% it would be more strategic than just assaulting all of them......

If I were going to give the working class a fair shake it would be the health care industry ,the legal industry (lawyers) Goldman Sachs and a 24 hour surveilance of every Congressman and Senator to see where these people were spending their time. My guess is that most of their time is listening to the lobbyists and special interest groups that will make them rich and richer by favoring positions that give the 1% an advantage.

I doubt that a broad brush wholesale killing of the 1% is any more than a lynching by a very unsophisticated and underclass lynch mob.

By: gdiafante on 9/17/12 at 9:43

Unbelievable...so it's our fault that we had to resort to buying cheap goods because you wouldn't keep wages on pace with inflation. Brilliant.

The deflection of responsiblity by the few in order get "free stuff" (less taxes, more bailouts when they **** up) is mind boggling. I'm beginning to think you have a mental disorder.

By: gdiafante on 9/17/12 at 9:52

So, it's perfectly acceptable to have the middle class lose 50% of their wealth because we had it coming.

Of course, when Wall Street crashed and banks were about to fail (they really did have it coming), who were the first ones whining on their knees for a handout...

Give me a break.

By: Rasputin72 on 9/17/12 at 9:57

Gdiafante.....I always gave you credit for being able to see a larger part of the big picture until that post.

I am beginning to think that the only people who are able to live a good life in this country are those that have a mental disorder as defined by those that do not have a mental disorder. What is as clear as a bell to me is not what people like you see.

I say this because everyone that I know that is either in the 1% or the top 2% has an opinion just exactly like mine. Obviously a mental disorder is the way,the truth and the life at least as far as being a part of the 1 to 2%.

You should be delighted with your own prognosis of mental stability.

By: bfra on 9/17/12 at 10:03

Raspy - I say this because everyone that I know that is either in the 1% or the top 2% has an opinion just exactly like mine. Obviously a mental disorder is the way,the truth and the life at least as far as being a part of the 1 to 2%.
==============================================

Then why did you mention Ross Perot? He definitely does not agree with your opinion. How do I know? I have known the man for years, he has a box near mine at the Walking Horse Celebration. He & his family are some of the most giving people I have ever known & he certainly wouldn't agree with any self serving comment you have ever put on this board.

By: Rasputin72 on 9/17/12 at 10:04

G diafante.......Your 10:52 is not debatable. I too have a very difficult time with finding solid footing for the rescue of the Wall Street crowd. If you will refer to most of my posts I give no plaudits to Wall Street or the politicians who rescued them.

No, I do not have a defense nor am I capable of inventing a defense for the scum that permeates Wall Street. I abhor the "bought and paid for politicians who paved the way for this debacle."

By: Rasputin72 on 9/17/12 at 10:11

Bfra........Are you saying that Ross Perot did not warn the working class that a "huge sucking sound will be heard if you elect another democrat."? The sucking sound will be that of American jobs being exported out of this country?

Surely you are a better historian than that.

Ross Perot of course was a champion of the working class.

By: bfra on 9/17/12 at 10:18

Raspy - I am not saying whether he said squat! Read my comment & if you can comprehend, you will know what I said. Re: your referral to the 1% & 2%, do you not think he is in either. Equate yourself with someone you have something in common with & it definitely isn't Ross Perot,.

By: Captain Nemo on 9/17/12 at 10:20

The sucking sound comes from the likes of Rasputin.

By: bfra on 9/17/12 at 10:30

Nemo - More like slurping!:-)

By: Rasputin72 on 9/17/12 at 10:35

fra...........Perhaps Ross Perot does not want you to know he has a mental disorder. I can imagine not wanting to get into any discourse with you on social order, welfare, politics or economics.

It always winds up with you being over your head and angry and disoriented.

You are not capable of debate, but I am sure that teachers long ago made you aware of t
things that you were deficient in.

This is it for the day, It is time for me to rejoin the thinking and educated crowd at my club for lunch.

I cannot imagine you being a sorer at the Walking Horse celebration. I thought you would have realized that someday that will be a punishable crime of 5 to 15 years.

By: dargent7 on 9/17/12 at 10:37

11:30am.
They just had a great piece on Romney on CNN.
He's speaking, "of what he'll do as President, in my administration..."
Keith Richards hair on his neck stood up.....
He, "will confront Russia, China, Iran, and all countries that don't stand with us".
He will abandon Planned Parenthood, the EPA, and the DOE.
He'll pour more money into the military to have the yearly budget hit and exceed $1.0 trillion a year.
He'll turn back the clock to the 50's when there was a Cold War.
I agree, Obama is in over his head, but the plnet Earth has lost it's collective mind, he's the smartest guy in the room, and can show retraint and be forward thinking, visionary, like JFK was.
Not a moronic simpleton like GW Bush who screwed the whole place up for 20 years.

By: yogiman on 9/17/12 at 10:42

Loner,

When you come back "home", tell me: How can you claim a person to be a draft dodger when they don't volunteer for service? Do you mean someone you don't agree with should volunteer for service but others you do agree with, shouldn't have to?

To make that fraud, you're showing your ridicule on our society of today.

By: bfra on 9/17/12 at 10:45

Raspy's MO - When you can't think up a quick retort, shift to insults. Enjoy your lunch, what is the mission having today?

BTW - As I have stated before, I do not attend the celebration any more, except a quick stop in to visit with friends & family that enjoy the box. The soring is the reason I quit attending full time. And, since you jumped in with your knowledge about walking horses, back when, did you ever learn that they are "born" with 3 gaits & do not have to be sored to "walk". Even small children are aware of that.
