Up for Debate: North Korea's rhetoric

Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 12:16am

What do you make of North Korea's latest actions? Do you continue to take the threats with a grain of salt? At what point should the U.S. step up and call the bet? Or is that even an option?

No, my speculations, as to what Mitt and the Neocons would be doing right now is not a complaint; on the contrary, I am expressing genuine relief that they are NOT in power.

So, Ben, you reject the idea that invading Iraq was a mistake...you deny that it was an elective war, based on "sexed up" intel, half-truths, speculation and flasehoods....and then you blame the length and tremendous cost of it on those Americans who recognized the war for what it was....have I summarized your position accurately?

The fact is, Loner, you have no idea what way any other person in that office would re-act.

If you did they should have you in their office as an adviser... and I'm sure they could use your advice on Israel.

To yogi's first point: Yogi, I just had my crystal balls tuned up and updated....trust me.

To Yogi's second point: Amen...from your lips to G-d's ear, Yogi....BHO would be well-advised to seek my counsel.

Oh, for Christ's sake!
Leave these people ALONE.
No one can fire a ballistic missile, nuclear warheard toward the United States.
We'd blow them off the face of the Earth.
Let's just play chess like we've been doing for the last 50 years....

By: Loner on 4/4/13 at 10:38

flasehoods...s/h/b falsehoods in my 10:27 post...mea culpa. Missed the red squiggly line.

By: Loner on 4/4/13 at 10:43

Darge! Good morning. I agree, let us not hurl a harpoon into a hornet's nest....Lil Kim thinks he's playing checkers, not chess...he is saying to Obama, "King me." Obama is cool and replies, "Smoke before fire.".

Where is Slacker these days?

By: budlight on 4/4/13 at 10:57

Hey, are all of you impressed that Obama gave back 5% of his salary to us po folks? What a joke. 5%? That's the gas discount for some places where you're a frequent shopper. 5% - I am laughing my butt off.

And then the kicker is this: He has declared April as National Budget Month and is urging that we teach kids how to manage their money and budget when they are in elementary school. Is this an April fools joke, or did he really say that?

If so, I'm sure he wants the youth to save up their money early so he or others like him can use it to pay off the debt he is incurring for them. They will be slaves - regardless of their race or national origin. King O'drama.

Mutually Assured Destruction does not work when a nut-job is one of the players...that's what the Israelis say about the Mullahs and Iran; if so, then that same logic may apply to Lil Kim and North Korea.

Experts claim that Kim has six to eight nukes. That alone makes this a plausible threat....one to be taken dead seriously.

Iran, on the other hand, MAY have a secret nuclear WMD program, but nobody thinks that they presently have any nuclear WMD, not even the Israelis.

Swatting Lil Kim down, like a piss ant, is tempting...but the little fella has a guardian angel with a full arsenal of nukes and the means to deliver the ordnance on target right now....the question is, would China wage nuclear war upon the USA, to pull Kim's fat out of the fire? How would the Russians react? All kinds of nasty shit could hit the fan quickly.

I'll have to admit, Loner; you are a good comedian. One joke after another all the time. You must be a Nuyawker.

By: Loner on 4/4/13 at 11:14

Well, thank you, yogiman.

Yes I am a New Yorker. New Yorkers who live in NYC and Long Island speak in the manner you suggest...Nu Yawk....Tahtah Sauce (Tartar Sauce)...cupa kwaffee (cup of coffee) etc.

Upstaters talk with a different dialect...more like a Great Lakes accent...not a New England type accent. We call it "pop"....they call it "soda"....upstaters use more short "A's" than our downstate neighbors do.

Upstaters are considered to be hillbillies....NYC people are city slickers....really two different mindsets....NYC is blue, upstate is red, except for upstate cities.

I think we should be ready to be willing to wipe the Outlaw Nation off the face of the earth, if necessary.

As for me being a dunce, I know who and what Rasputin is and the buffoon has no clue to who I am.

You sure create some interesting words, Rasp...can you give me the definition of wealthunate?

Treehugger, the boob is channeling Palin.

By: Rasputin72 on 4/4/13 at 11:18

NEMO........Why would anyone other than your Mother want to know who you are?

By: Loner on 4/4/13 at 11:20

One more thing about New Yorkers...downstaters tend to add a few Yiddish words to their language....words like schlepp, oy, schmuck, putz etc....upstaters tend to add a few Italian and Polish words to their speech...if you know what I meangya....if not, kiss my dupa.

When was the last time you saw Ask beat the war drums, blanket?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 4/4/13 at 9:23
Ben, you would be complaining if he didn't.

Right on target Blanket and not the store.

By: Loner on 4/4/13 at 9:33
Just this week, Chuck Hagel diverted an anti-missile battery that was supposed to go to Israel, to Guam....to counter the NK threat....the Israel lobby will undoubtedly point to that decision as proof that Hagel is an anti-Semite.

Point taking, Loner and it would not surprise if something like that took place.

By: Loner on 4/4/13 at 11:26

That gives me an idea for a Tee-shirt...

If you don't know what I meangya, kiss my dupa.

Maybe it's the herb, but right now that sounds good...I'll check back around 4:20...gotta run...working on building a new workbench...and they claim that old Loner is lazy.....Oy!

By: bfra on 4/4/13 at 9:52
Blanket - That is slick, yogi caught an error in your 9:20 post that is invisible.

The old fool see ghost at anytime of the day and night. 9:20 was just the time he remembered. LOL

By: Loner on 4/4/13 at 11:28

Take it away, Captain Nemo!

Hee hee, so you both noticed my intentional 'error'. It's good you're at staying alert on my error, so now quit making your own.

I will say that it was on purpose and they won’t no(sic) the better.

I'll have to admit, Loner; you are a good comedian. One joke after another all the time. You must be a Nuyawker.

If I can make Loner, think he is the funny one and not really me, then I have made a respectable come-back.

NEMO........Why would anyone other than your Mother want to know who you are?

Change the subject. I can’t have the world know that I am really a BIG FAT DUMASS

By: Captain Nemo on 4/4/13 at 11:37

Thank you Loner, I will and able.

By: Captain Nemo on 4/4/13 at 11:41

Loner I loved the Three Stooges yesterday, but Larry is more of a dork.

By: Captain Nemo on 4/4/13 at 12:00

By: Jughead on 4/3/13 at 3:16
@Nimrod: If I possess a dork, is it not implied that I have balls? Now, go sit in the corner and try to matter, freeloading libtard.

Dorks don’t have balls. They just stuffed shocks down their pants for the allusion.

By: Captain Nemo on 4/4/13 at 12:21

Loner, you are correct in your assessment of Little Kim as a nut-job. And if anyone that China needs to be the one that bring him under control. However I believe that there should be plenty of missiles pointed at North Korea, to make the point if Chins can not control the evil Dork, we will.

By: Captain Nemo on 4/4/13 at 1:42

Who are the Chins? ;-)

By: yogiman on 4/4/13 at 2:52

So you're agreeing you're a big fat dumbass, eh, dumba$$?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 4/4/13 at 3:19

RIP, Roger Ebert. See you at the movies.

By: Captain Nemo on 4/4/13 at 3:43

I just heard that Blanket. R I P

By: Blanketnazi2 on 4/4/13 at 3:45

Very sad.

By: Captain Nemo on 4/4/13 at 3:47

Why are you talking about Raspy that way, yogi. Did you realized that he considered you to be his underclass stooge

By: Captain Nemo on 4/4/13 at 3:49

I just hope he did not surfer at all, in his last days.

By: brrrrk on 4/4/13 at 4:15

Got to love this....

"Rep. Barry Doss, R-Leoma, said it was OK with him if children go hungry for a little while if it makes them buckle down with those books."

By: Blanketnazi2 on 4/4/13 at 4:20

omg.......

By: Blanketnazi2 on 4/4/13 at 4:24

Can you imagine the kid with an abusive parent who comes home with low grades? Has anyone thought of that? Many low performing students have a lot of problems at home.

By: Ask01 on 4/4/13 at 6:33

Ben, I hate to rain on your parade, but I would have the same opinion if President Bush was still in power.

The ruling family in North Korea is certifiably insane, unstable, and highly unpredictable. I believe our best course is to step up surveilance, keep theater forces on alert and wait. We should enter into low key negotiations to China and Russia to ensure those nations will not become players if we are attacked and drawn into a shooting war with North Korea.

While North Korea may have a large standing army, I have serious doubts about their true dedication, capabilities, and the quality of their weapons.

I never served in Korea, but have friends who did. Trusting their opinions more than someone I've never met, when they tell me the ROK military is highly efficient and lethal, I tend to put more stock in their opinions than yours. Sorry.

I'm not sure where you got the idea I was banging the drum for war, though. We need to be ready, no doubt, but war is never the first answer. It is to be avoided if at all possible. That said, if we are drawn into a conflict after diplomatic avenues have failed, we need to commit to win and use all resources to do so.

By: yogiman on 4/4/13 at 8:36

Ask01,

I hope I'm wrong, but with the USA becoming a world wide guardian after WWII over most of the world; and if we re-enter into war with North Korea with the communist in our Oval Office, and the congress that is backing him; and China and/or Russia enter into the 'conflict' with North Korea, we could go down in history books as a former nation.

By: 4gold on 4/11/13 at 10:41

N.Korea is more likely to blow themselves up. Push the button. It will be the first birthday of the elimation of N. Korea and they will become one Korea again.

Go Dores, Preds, Titans! Go Nashville a great place to live!
