Up for Debate: The replacement refs

Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 12:51am

There's been some growing chatter in the world of NFL fans about the replacement referees and the job they are, or aren't, doing. How do you feel about the job the replacements have done? Have you seen blatant instances of either loss of control of the game or worse-than-normal blown calls? Do you worry that the NFL isn't too concerned about bringing back the regulars because the league knows the viewers are still going to watch either way?

Loner, reducing our corporate rates and eliminating all the meddlesome cronyism with the deductions would increase corporate revenues greatly while at the same time eliminate a lot of non-value-added compliance costs.

It would be nice to repatriate some of those dollars and compete on par with other countries for the revenues since we are footing the bill for all of the defense costs of these other nations.

Also it would be nice to restructure the tax system so it make sense to release some of the gain in the form of dividends rather than continuing to wrap it up in unnecessary capital investments.

Luv the Gov....

By: govskeptic on 9/19/12 at 10:23

It would appear the NFL needs a tough guy like Bibi to run the organization.
I don't think he has ever been accused of Union busting.

I agree, Gov....Netanyahu routinely disses the world's "Officials", who would like to inspect Israel's nuclear facilities, its arsenal of nuke WMDs etc.....Bibi don't need no steenkinig Non Proliferation Treaty... nor the UN's nuclear officials - the IAEA.....to umpire or referee anything. He loathes them all.

With Bibi as NFL Commish, the rule book would be thrown out...the law of the jungle would be the only law....eat or be eaten....beat or be beaten....Darwinian Rules only.

And the American fans would simply love the new Darwinian Rules and they would gladly finance the whole thing.....grinding the meat, right on the grid-iron.

Not when you're preoccupied with assigning blame instead of recovery.

Oh yeah, also that little thing about pointing the finger at the other side all the time. Like I said, whiny little girls...

And no, it makes no sense to go back to the deficits don't matter philosophy when in fact they do matter, they always have.

It also makes no sense to whine about government spending and then support tax cuts and military spending.

A recovery will require sacrifices and hard choices, neither of which the Dems, Republicans or citizens are prepared to make. That's a fact. Until they are, we'll be chasing our tails in this childish you did it mentality.

By: Loner on 9/19/12 at 9:42

If Bibi was the NFL Commish....the carnage would begin with the coin-toss.

By: Captain Nemo on 9/19/12 at 9:42

The GOP has master that trick extremely well over the years Ben.

I’m glad the news is good on the home front, Blanket.

Ben wrote, "Loner, reducing our corporate rates and eliminating all the meddlesome cronyism with the deductions would increase corporate revenues greatly while at the same time eliminate a lot of non-value-added compliance costs."

I cannot disagree, that corporate revenues would go up, if they were allowed to continue shirking their duties as good corporate citizens....they are already getting state & local tax breaks up the wazoo....that's my point, Ben.

Ben trivialized the massive fraud that is inherent in the US campaign finance system...calls it, "meddlesome cronyism"....a benevolent description for sure.

Ben thinks that "compliance costs", the costs of compliance with the rules of the game are "non value added" items. The crash of 2008 is grim evidence of the folly of that view.

As we now see with the NFL officiating, when the rules are ignored, either deliberately or through ignorance, or sheer incompetence, the entire game suffers...the Rule Book has added value to any game, Ben...it is actually essential.

By: Loner on 9/19/12 at 10:02

I love it....Ben trots out some heavily biased, BHO-bashing links, sources that blame our president for "degradations of American society" etc. ....then Ben has the chutzpah to admonish the left with this nugget: "Assigning blame is important if you are going to use your view of the history to form your political paradigm."

We can see that Ben practices what he preaches...he is a blamer.

By: Captain Nemo on 9/19/12 at 10:06

To blame others has been a Republican tool for years Loner. Ben is just keeping in step with them.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 9/19/12 at 10:06

Thanks, Nemo. :)

By: yogiman on 9/19/12 at 10:07

B2,

Be my guest in calling me a fool. Unlike you, I don't mind acknowledging my ignorance on any matter I can be proved to be an idiot of. You know; like believing a man is who he says he is but refuses to prove it.

I believe I'll lot a laugh harder than you idiots when Barry shows you what kings of idiots you are.

By: Loner on 9/19/12 at 10:09

Reducing corporate tax rates decreases the corporate share of the burden...the argument that reducing the rate increases the total revenue generated is a specious one....if any such phenomenon can be cited as a relevant and credible example, I'd immediately counter that argument...I would accuse my opponent of using the "post hoc, ergo propter hoc" logical fallacy.....total tax revenues may have briefly surged, in spite of, not because of the decrease in the corporate tax rate.

By: BenDover on 9/19/12 at 10:14

The US has the highest Corporate tax rate in the world Loner. That is why corporations like GE realize all of their revenues (that they don't have a crony deduction to offset) in other countries.

By: Captain Nemo on 9/19/12 at 10:17

Loner with greed blocking the view, there is no seeing the wall ahead of the driver.

By: BenDover on 9/19/12 at 10:17

I didn't invent spin loner... I simply am pointing it out where I see it.

Back from getting out of jury duty. The ''bring back ole Sparky'' line still works every time.
Its rumored, the NFL hired the replacement referees from the Mexican Midget Wrestling Association.
Those guys don't see anything. Being distracted by sideline agitators, while hair is being pulled... you noticed the helmets flying off. After the games several linemen were shamelessly caught with brass knuckles in their pants.
I honestly saw Petunia Manning, get hit in the back with a folding chair. Something has to be done, skeptic is right, its time to call Bibi.

By: yogiman on 9/19/12 at 10:26

I hate to have to educate you a little more, dargent7. But it's hard to do with what's in your skull. On you 10:13 post you stated; "Then, sent him off to Indonesia to go to Hiogh School." I presume you meant [High School].

I read where he was taken to Indonesia at the age of 6 years old and put into grade school... where he had to be an Indonesian citizen to go to their schools. If he was taken to go to high school, he must have been born in 1954. So, if he supposedly went in the White House in 2009 at age 45 he must have lied one more time.

If what you're posting is correct, he had to be 54 when he usurped the office.

By: BenDover on 9/19/12 at 10:37

To paraphrase Uncle Ronnie, Loner... the trouble with my liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn't so.

So as a service I jump into this Whitehouse spin echo-chamber from time to time and work to undo a bit of the programming my friends have suffered.

By: Loner on 9/19/12 at 10:43

Slack is back....gallows humor today...old sparky, the faulty electric chair.... the executioner was forced to work the switches on & off several times...in order to get a good contact....they'd bring out a can of WD-40 and spray the switch box and levers...while the condemned man watched the repair work....then they'd try working the switches again, trying to get contact...then POOOF!!...Old Sparky would kick in....flash-frying the seated one.....the switch would then stick in the "on" position, creating a pall of human smoke and a puddle of rendered human fat....Old Sparky...what a spectacle.

By: Loner on 9/19/12 at 10:50

Thanks for caring so much, Ben. We need a bright, blinking light out on the starboard wing tip...that is you, Ben....a green lamp for non-green interests..other than greenbacks.

Over here, on the port wing tip, a red lamp flashes in the night....that's the "red light" that Bibi was talking about on 9-11-12. He wants red lines, not red lights...he is seeing red...hoppin' mad....the US prez "snubbed" him...no meeting in NYC...Bibi will not be disgraced like this...he could go nuts....again.

My computer is slow; I want a new one, but I'm poor. Loner, based on the following Obama theory and hope, I am ordering you to cough up some of your money to me for a new computer:

"An audio recording of President Barack Obama surfaced on social media Tuesday in which the president can be clearly heard telling a Loyola University audience in 1998 that he believes in the “redistribution” of wealth in America, something that his critics have long charged.

“I think the trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some redistribution because I actually believe in redistribution — at least at a certain level to make sure that everybody’s got a shot,” Obama can be heard saying.

The audio file, which was posted on YouTube, purports to be from an Oct. 19, 1998 conference at Loyola University, where Obama, then an Illinois state senator, termed the substance of his speech policy research “for the working poor broadly defined."

Important: Do You Support Pres. Obama's Re-Election? Vote Here Now!

AND YOGI regarding the fact that Mitt's kids didn't JOIN the VOLUNTEER army, neither did Obama and I'll bet you dollars to donuts, his little girlie Q's won't be ENLISTING unless it's in the Peace (left wing) Corps.

Regarding the Obama "share the wealth" I just sent my Mercedes driving brother a note to hurry up and get me a couple of tax free $13,000 gifts so he can share his wealth with me. Anyone, including Loner and Nazi who want to share their hard earned money with me, just let me know and I'll send you my post office box number; be sure the check is certified.

Well, Slack, at least we got our priorities right.

Tits are tits...but royal tits must be more titillating....it's udder nonsense.

There's trouble with the bread & circus deal, Slack....if the NFL loses credibility and the NHL is locked out at the same time...the perfect storm could arise....crazed fans marching on the White House...with torches, pitch-forks and a noose....."it's all the usurper's fault!" the crowd will scream, as the Secret Service goons are overcome by the incensed throng....finally, the American Spring.

By: Loner on 9/19/12 at 11:06

Now, if these photos were close-ups of the royal genitalia...the royal sphincters....royal action shots, then I'd be more inclined to view the material...but tits? Big deal.....I've been to Brushwood....as the bard of Avon might say, this is much ado about nothing.

“I think the trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some redistribution because I actually believe in redistribution — at least at a certain level to make sure that everybody’s got a shot,” Obama can be heard saying.

Notice he uses the word "trick" and that is what he has done since day one. He's a tricky little man who wants to rule the world.

Speaking of NFL, Vince Young is unemployed and broke. It's a shame these people who find "new money" with their talents, can't figure out how to manage it. He let his cousin or some family member manage it. Can anyone on here say "Dave Ramsey"; I feel sad for Vince. So young, so naive, so broke!

By: brrrrk on 9/19/12 at 11:44

Loner said

"under bishop Romney their hardships would increase exponentially.....and still some wonder why we are hated in so much of the world."

Reminds me of a quote I heard once..... If America was as good as it's word, we would have no enemies in the world.... translation, we talk a good game, but often don't back it up.

By: Loner on 9/19/12 at 11:44

Back to the charts...if federal tax revenues from individuals...mostly from wage-earners and if the SS tax on wage earners are combined, that's 83% of the revenues generated. The other 17% is evenly divided between corporate taxes and other taxes.

Now, if we could somehow increase the share that non-wage earners contribute, while cutting expenditures across the board, we could probably balance the budget.

But who are the non-wage earners? How many of them are so wealthy that they do not need to earn a wage for their labor?

How many are fakers and moochers?

How many are kids? How many are elderly? How many are disabled or too ill to work?

Are corporations non-wage-earners too?...CU claims they have person-hood, let's tax them as such.
