Up for Debate: Roger Clemens not guilty

Monday, June 18, 2012 at 11:34pm

Are you surprised by the verdict in the Roger Clemens case in federal court in which the famed Major League Baseball pitcher was found not guilty of lying about taking steroids? What do you think this means in the long run for the processes of investigating and prosecuting high profile sports stars?

It's OK bfra... my sentiments were similar but I use the word 'care' instead of 'feel'.

Being a reformed liberal myself, I understand it pretty well.

My position is rooted in 'care' for others as well but in what I consider a more reasoned way to serve that cause... focusing more on the whole and not as much on the individual because I think the scales are tipped too far to the individual side right now, in practice and in promise, and that's what has society all bound up in this economic constipation we're suffering. The people that the left purports to want to help are being hurt the most in all of this.

Society would be disserved, though, if either side of the argument were to achieve total control.

Ben, I would argue that the 16th set the nation on the warpath....it was the best thing to ever come down the pike for the defense industry.....a full-time standing army and a global navy requires immense amounts of taxpayer revenue; the federal income tax bankrolled the military-industrial complex.

Loopholes and exemptions have bedeviled the Federal Income Tax idea from the beginning....and once the feds get the money, they can spend it as they see fit. The system does have flaws...we agree on that.

Today, the federal income tax generated revenues are used to purchase the allegiance of foreigners...they call it "foreign aid". Without the federal income tax, such schemes and scams would dry up and blow away.

The energy industry and other big-donor industries have been granted special dispensation from much of the income taxation...revenues foregone, they call it.....again, it's a sweetheart deal for big oil and the others.....and their shareholders.

It sure gave the federal government a lot of power Loner.

They walk around shaking that big stick we gave them at at anything that challenges their Authoritah!

Plus it sets up all the political theater for the congress between the haves and the have-nots. God warned us about it.... numbers 8 and 10 on the top 10 list.

nimrod,

I obviously differ with most of you "family" posters on this site. My nature is to "say" what I think to whomsoever I'm talking.

Prove me wrong and I'll accept your argument and apologize. The argument you all are using on this site is your believing the man sitting in the Oval Office legally.

It's too obvious Obama is in the office illegally. If you honestly think he's in there legally, you obviously don't know the laws. He does, and that's the reason he won't provide his records.

And as I've noted before, what scares the hell out of me more is that gang we call our Congress letting this happen.

Was it God who warned us, or the war criminal Moses?

Moses immediately disobeyed the fifth; he ordered the Levites to slaughter the idol worshipers, if I recall my Bible studies accurately. I don't place a lot of value in the preaching of supreme hypocrites like that.....others do.....we call it "diversity"....can't we all just get a bong?

yogi is always yammering "prove me wrong". How can anybody prove him wrong when he has never been right about anything. Of course his "anything" is taken from the trash sites he searches out 24/7.

As the World Changes, some people can not change with it. They set in there caves and pout like little babies and through tantrum and say such childish things like; I will do what I want and I don’t care if it is not the truth.

By: yogiman on 6/19/12 at 4:00

So prove me wrong, bfra. If you're right, it should be simple for you with yout brain.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/19/12 at 4:03

You can not prove to a fool that he is a fool. The Gods themselves fight in vain against stupidly.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/19/12 at 4:05

Go ahead bfra “yout brain. LOL

First the gods turns you into a yogi, before they destroy.

Back in the day God would go all Honey Badger on them, Loner. Deifying a golden calf? That's like #1 and #2 combined. Somebody's gonna catch some hell for that.
