Up for Debate: Santorum visits, leads Romney in MTSU poll

Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 2:22am

Are you surprised at all that an MTSU poll found Rick Santorum leads Mitt Romney statewide? Do you think Santorum's focus on health care, energy and debt will strike the right nerves in Tennessee Republican voters to bring him a victory here Tuesday?

BFRA......I do know a lot about the lower class. I was born among them. The escape clause was that my parents were poor but not underclass.

Funny, I thought the whole "class warfare' angle was a Leftist conspiracy. It would seem that Raspy was raised believing in that war. Fascinating.

Oh that's right, to the Right, everything is a conspiracy.

20 years ago I had 2 in diapers, living in a 2 bedroom trailer, making $850 a month and going to night school. I'm in that class of people who has sold plasma for gas money to get to and from work and who cut lawns on the weekends to make rent. Thankfully I'm not in that situation anymore but it wasn't really so bad... dad calls it 'building character'.

Wasn't Brietbart the guy who broke "Weinergate"? No wonder Ben went to see him in person. Probably hoping for some more pics...

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

By: Loner on 3/1/12 at 11:13

May Brietbart Rest In Peace.

Captain Nemo said

"Santorum is just another TV evangelist, selling his product to the gullible."

I disagree, Santorum is a true believer who will abandon pragmatism in order to push through his theocratic views.

on the other hand.....

By: Loner on 3/1/12 at 12:12

Brrrrk, dogmatic trumps pragmatic?

In Holy War, it's Dogma eat Dogma....alpha males lead the frothy-mouthed packs into a snarling dogfight of conflicting beliefs....Santorum would be our Top Dog....unlike our docile lap-dog POTUS, President Santorum would not be man's best friend....he's a Papal Pit Bull.....and he's not house-trained...and he don't care...deal with it!

And Vince Foster turned up dead in the Clinton W.H. years.
What's really going on behind those Oval Offices and closed doors?

By: Loner on 3/1/12 at 12:55

Darge, talk about closed doors....JFK said no, to Israeli nukes...LBJ gave them the OK....and the dirty deed went down in Dallas....and the trigger man was snuffed by a Zionist Jew, before he could be properly interrogated...later LBJ immediately forgave the IDF for its murderous, prolonged, air & sea assault on the USS Liberty....all coincidences?

Jackie Kennedy suspected LBJ's complicity in her husband's murder....they kept that hush-hush for years.

Knowing what we know about Israel's use of the assassination tactic...from the killing of Count Bernadotte, in 1948...to the Mossad hits of today...we should not rule out the possibility that the Israeli government was in on JFK's murder...they certainly benefited from it.

JFK made Ben Gurion puke too...the rest is history.

could be the 2nd US citizen he's put a hit out on... that we know of... lol

By: brrrrk on 3/1/12 at 1:49

I just read that there's going to be an autopsy to determine the cause of Breitbarts death. Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if they find something in his system. I say this because the last time I saw him on a show (which was about 2 days ago) he definitely acted like he was "hopped-up" on something; having all the symptoms of someone on coke (or some other stimulant). And as someone who cut his musician teeth as a guitarist playing in biker bands during the late 70's and early 80's, I know "hopped-up" when I see it.....

By: dargent7 on 3/1/12 at 1:50

" ...had dirt on Obama from his college days..."? Ok, at 21, Obama, at Columbia, had a homosexual affair. He's now, 50. Clinton didn't inhale, yada, yada, yada.
I was once young and good looking, ...well young" ( Curley Howard).
Who give's a shit, at this point in our country's history?
We'd all better right this ship, because it's sinking. And, fast.
$16.+ trillion in debt? To the Chinese?
Some one, somebody, somewhere, better step up to the plate.
This Republican field is below ZERO. Obama's in over his head.
Out of 325 million people, nobody can fix this mess!!?

Actually, only a fraction of our debt is owed to china.... depending on the source it goes from about 9.8% to 26% (the 26% appears to be high in comparison to the rest of the sources).

By: gdiafante on 3/1/12 at 2:03

If he had anything on Obama, it would have been produced a long time ago. Maybe that's why the Righties hates him so much...because they haven't been able to create a scandal yet.

By: Rasputin72 on 3/1/12 at 2:39

Dargent7...I give your 12.50 post the nod as the best post of the day.

By: BenDover on 3/1/12 at 2:46

Oh he had the dirt. He was just timing it for maximum effect... that's his hallmark. Hope he had copies that the black suits that likely took him out didn't know about.

By: gdiafante on 3/1/12 at 3:07

You just keep telling yourself that Ben.

Well sure, he has it all holed up in the same place where "the Donald" has all that juicy stuff that he claimed he had......

By: gdiafante on 3/1/12 at 3:36

Basically what Ben and other sheep hope is that something pops up, preferably before the general election. Especially if the economy continues to improve.

Remember when people put country ahead of party?

Yeah, me either.

By: BenDover on 3/1/12 at 3:44

I happen to think Obama is bad for the country and taking us in the wrong direction. Why wouldn't I like to see him revealed for the anti-colonial father's-dream-living marxist he really is?

By: gdiafante on 3/1/12 at 4:05

Actually Ben, the country is finally starting to recover. Back in reality, Obama has either extended Republican programs, like the Bush Tax Cuts, or copied Republican ideas, such as "Obamacare". That's the reason Democrats aren't too happy with him either.

So, if you don't like what you see, don't look in the mirror.

By: bfra on 3/1/12 at 4:13

gdiafante - That is a very accurate analysis!

By: BenDover on 3/1/12 at 4:13

Yeah... just don't look behind the curtain at that extra $1,000,000,000,000 in deficit spending every year and the big O is an alright guy. Fact is, economy is recovering despite Obama's policy, though he'll be happy to take the bows.

The expansive regulatory environment, the moratorium on drilling for oil, the stupid pipeline decision, the uncertainty related to Obamacare, NLRB, etc... combined with the minimum wage increase to stifle job growth for the last 3 years and are still hindering job growth in everything but the public sector.

By: brrrrk on 3/1/12 at 4:22

"combined with the minimum wage increase to stifle job growth for the last 3 years and are still hindering job growth in everything but the public sector."

Yes, that explains why almost every red state (who are heavily pushing austerity) is seeing their economies tank.....

By: gdiafante on 3/1/12 at 4:26

No, the private sector is providing the uptick in employment. Of course, as I said earlier, people can't be happy that workers are working because it might mean that big, bad boogie-man Obama might get some credit.

If there was a driving uncertainty in the country, it was from consumers and rank and file workers who were scared out of their wits that they would lose their job. Some of that fear is starting to subside, so they spend more money. Funny how that works, huh?

Oh, sorry, I'm off script...yeah, it's all Obama's fault...

By: Loner on 3/1/12 at 4:27

Ben expresses his honest opinion: "I happen to think Obama is bad for the country and taking us in the wrong direction. Why wouldn't I like to see him revealed for the anti-colonial father's-dream-living marxist he really is?"

"Wrong direction"?

"Wrong direction", you say...."Marxist", you say...the record indicates quite the opposite to be true.

As for President Obama being an "anti-colonialist", he supports the colonization of Palestine by the world's Jews...he supports the Jewish State concept, the Jews-Only settlement blocks, the Apartheid Wall etc.

By: gdiafante on 3/1/12 at 4:34

All it really boils down to, Loner, is the little letter next to the name. If Obama had an "R", everything would be peachy king to Ben and he'd be explaining how Obama only acted in the nations best interest at the time and that it's taken three years for his policies to become effective enough to be measured statistically. Now that this time has passed, the country will soon enter Nirvana, gift-wrapped by a Republican President...

Isn't that the schtick, Ben?

By: brrrrk on 3/1/12 at 4:49

Food for thought.....

The Blunt amendment (just voted down in the Senate), which would have allowed employers to refuse to pay for any insurance benefits that they object to on moral grounds, would also have allowed Muslim employers to restrict insurance benefits based on Sharia law. Now why is the GOP supporting Sharia law? Bet they didn't think about that, did they? But then, that's assuming they think......

By: yogiman on 3/1/12 at 5:02

I just got back BenDover. Regarding your question about the death of Breitbart in your 9:44 post. Unless it was obvious, no one will know until after the autopsy. But doesn't it seem familiar to many other early life deaths in politics?

By the way, did you watch Sheriff Ariola's talk today? The only basic thing he said was the birth certificate was fake. Hell, I already knew that.

But they are going deeper into who created that certificate and why. The question here would be: Knowing it was a fake, why did Obama show it as his birth certificate? How could a man having used his birth certificate in getting his passport and many other needs for one think it was his real one?

By: bfra on 3/1/12 at 5:48

yogi - Shake dim bones, bet you think dim bones, they gonna git up and walk around! Ho Ho Ho

By: yogiman on 3/1/12 at 6:08

bfra,

Let's wait and see. And by that I mean you'll see just how stupid you are to readily accept someone as your president whom you don't even know who he is and who refuses to show who he is.

We have 256 days left for all the facts to come out before the election. And if the communist party has taken the country over enough already, the fight's over.

And as I have noted before, it isn't Barry Soetoro that worries me the most on this issue; it's the majority we have in our Congress going by the names of the Democrat and Republican parties.

End of day wrap up.....still no reply from Ben Dover to my 3:27 post.

I wanted to post something here that probably will not get posted on the comment board for which it was composed....too much censorship there. The board is an Israeli site ....Ynet News. I spent too much time doing the research to let it all evaporate.

Here's the provocative headline:"Missiles on Israel preferable to nuclear Iran"

Here's the URL:
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4197263,00.html

Here's my post:

From the article:
"According to a Thursday report in Yedioth Ahronoth, the former official – speaking anonymously with the New York Times – detailed the formula by which Israel assessed the magnitude of Tehran's response: "1991 + 2006 + Buenos Aires, times three-to-five. " (end quote)

OK. I Googled it. Here are the normally accepted figures:

1991 = 74 (A total of 74 people died as a consequence of Scud attacks. Two died in direct hits, four from suffocation in gas masks and the rest from heart attacks (Jerusalem Post, January 17, 1992).

2006 = 162 (119 Israeli soldiers and 43 civilians.)

Buenos Aires = 116 (March 17, 1992. a bomb killed 29 and 87 people were killed on July 18, 1994, )

Here’s the math: 74 + 162 + 116 = 352. 3 x 352 = 1,056. 5 x 352 = 1,760.

So, the Likud government of Israel is willing to sacrifice 1,056 to 1,760 Israeli citizens - men, women and children - to keep the Iranians from getting a nuclear weapon anytime soon.

Admittedly, the job might have to be redone in 5 years or so…. experts estimate that it will take that long for the Iranians to restore their nuclear program to today’s level.

That’s a lot of Israeli blood being bet on somebody’s assumptions….who knows how many Iranians would die in the exchange…probably thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands….again, a lot of innocent people could die, because somebody assumed that something worse was the only alternative.

(end of my post)

Notice how the Israeli planners did not factor in any US lives that might be lost, if they attack Iran...with "allies" like that, who needs enemies?

Remember we have 2 aircraft carriers in the Gulf, each has a crew of 5,000. Even a US aircraft carrier's defenses can be overwhelmed in the event of a simultaneous attack from several shore-to-ship Chinese-built missiles....Iran has plenty of them, the question is, how many launchers do the Iranians have and can they be coordinated to fire simultaneously? Nobody on our side knows for sure.

More questions remain:
Would the Persians avoid a direct attack on US forces?
Would an Iranian counter-attack on Israeli cities draw the US into it?
Are the Iranians and the Israelis rational, or not?

We shall see.
