Up for Debate: SCOTUS looks at Arizona's immigration law

Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 1:05am

As the U.S. Supreme Court considers Arizona's immigration law — with possible implications for similar laws in other states — how do you think the high court will rule? How do you think it should rule? Are these recent laws ones that should be re-evaluated and reeled in or expanded?

Ben when did you live north and if so where?

By: BenDover on 4/26/12 at 11:31

I've never lived in the North except for a few long-term assignments in Downtown Chicago. I really liked it there.

Nashville is about as far North as I want to call home though nemo.

Be sure to check out the Iowahawk link.

Have a great day everyone. I'm outta here.

By: Captain Nemo on 4/26/12 at 11:42

Chicago is nice to visit and to live if you like big cities. If I could afford it I would live in both Chicago and New York for a year. I love Ann Arbor, MI and the Rochester, NY area too, even if Loner might drop by. Lol However Nashville is my home base and unless the next civil war breaks out, I will live here to the end.

Have a good day Ben.

Before, I go here is my best guess as to what maybe a VP for Romney.

There is Brewer, Perry, Cain, and Bachman for the far right vote. As for Rubio as VP, it would be hard to sale the, fringe on a Mormon and a Hispanic on the same ticket. The GOP is too diverse in its rightwing structure for that. That is just my opinion.

I think it will be someone toward the center, to get the independents and moderate vote.

You can come out now yogi.

I've lived in PA and CT. Light years ahead of TN, in more ways than one. But, my wife likes it here...and everyone knows that what the wife wants, the wife gets.

Though, she's become increasingly alarmed at the stupidity here...

By: yogiman on 4/26/12 at 1:07

I hope you're wrong in your 9:42 post, BenDover. If Romney picks Marco Rubio as VP, that will pup him in the same party (category) as Barry Soetoro: The party of the usurpers.

By: gdiafante on 4/26/12 at 1:13

Oh, but yogi, they already are the party of the Usurpers...remember, they are complicit in the conspiracy...

They all are in on it...that's what the little mosquito told me when I got back from the UFO...

By: yogiman on 4/26/12 at 1:25

You left one of the idiots out on your 11:25 post, nimrod; Yourself.

Given that Tennessee is ranked 46th in the nation in it's graduation rate, alarmed is an understatement for me. On the other hand, coming here with a good education makes it easy to become the proverbial fox in the hen house.

By: yogiman on 4/26/12 at 1:36

You talked to the wrong bug, gdiafante. You need one that's not lying to you. All mosquitoes in your neighborhood are like your master (Barry Soetoro). They're train by him to lie as well as himself.

Git a bedbug. They only bite. They can't lie to you because they can't talk falsely like expert Barry.

The stats someone gave about "graduation rates among High Schoolers is total bullshit.
Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana aren't in the top for graduation? Then, certainly at the bottom.
Where do these posters find this horse-shit?

First of all, those figures that I quoted came from the Manhattan Institute, which is not exactly a bastion of liberal thinking as they are a promoter of the free market. The mistake I made (that I hadn't noticed) was that those figures were from 2001....my bad.

So, here's a more recent snapshot from 2011...... judge for yourself.

You are right yogi. I did leave out an idiot and that was you.

So then it is true that budlight is an idiot. She is going to be soo hurt that you think she is an idiot.

Looks like the New Yawk kibbitzer is far off his meds again.

By: yogiman on 4/26/12 at 2:33

Her idiocy is in the eyes of the beholder, nimwit, which is you. And I don't think there's any question about your ignorance... is there?

By: Captain Nemo on 4/26/12 at 2:45

So yogi what makes Rubio to be "Usurpers" and why do you think so?

By: Captain Nemo on 4/26/12 at 2:49

My eyes read and I quote...

John was is it you always show up when Loner is gone and you never one insult and then run and hide?

By: Captain Nemo on 4/26/12 at 2:56

yogi, if you don’t understand what you posted and I will attempt to explain, You said that I left out one idiot and then you said it was me. To which any normal person (obvious you are not normal) would take it that you included budlight as being an idiot too.

Not to change the subject but I just read an interesting article about George Zimmerman.

If interested go to www.wnd.com/2012/01/the-real-story-of-george-zimmerman/?_orig=us

Not changing the subject, but yet you change the subject. No wonder people think you are so silly, yogi.

"There is a science which has for its object only incomprehensible things. Unlike all others, it occupies itself but with things unseen. Hobbes calls it 'the kingdom of darkness.' In this land all obey laws opposed to those which men acknowledge in the world they inhabit. In this marvelous region light is but darkness, evidence becomes doubtful or false, the impossible becomes credible, reason is an unfaithful guide, and common sense changed into delirium. This science is named Theology, and this Theology is a continual insult to human reason." - Voltaire

Over at the Tennessean, there's a poll about that Confederate flag prom dress. 47% say it was appropriate.

Yeah, this isn't a stupid state...

By: gdiafante on 4/26/12 at 3:38

But...But...But...I thought Obama wanted high gas prices...

What kills me about this is that the girl was warned months ago about this.... not being able to go to the prom wearing this is nothing but a "stupid tax". She was told there might be ramifications for wearing this, she chose to wear it..... she's stupid.

BenDover says he can’t see any signs of war.

I still thinks that the CSA flag is that of an enemy to America.

By: Captain Nemo on 4/26/12 at 3:58

This is America and Free Speech and what she was wearing was her free speech. Even if it is a symbol of people hell bent on Americas destruction.

I agree, but along with the freedom of speech comes the responsibility of facing the repercussions for what you "say". They go hand in hand.....

By: Captain Nemo on 4/26/12 at 4:05

I have no problem with her paying for her Free Speech. ;-)

I’m going to call it a day. Have a nice rest of the day people.

nimrod, to answer your 2:45 question at about Marco Rubio: His parents were Cuban citizens when he was born. He was 4 years old when they became American citizens. There's no way in Hell he could be certified a natural born citizen.

Barry Soetoro's father was a Kenyan under British rule making himself, Barry and his siblings British subjects. Again, there is no way in Hell Barry Soetoto could be certified as a natural born citizen.

As I have noted before, if he was born in Kenya as has been subjected, his mother, by law, could not pass her American citizenship down to him and he could not have gained dual-citizenship. But even if he was born in Hawaii with a Kenyan citizen as a father, there's no way in Hell he could be certified as a natural born citizen with dual-citizenship.
