Up for debate: Should democrats be able to remove Mark Clayton from the ballot?

Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 9:05pm

Democrats were embarassed last week when a candidate with very little in common with their party won the nomination for U.S. Senate. Should they be allowed to replace him with an actual Democrat?

I appreciate the back up on that Bfra....the troll has the audacity to criticize others of not being able to admit it when proven wrong....the troll here is a prime example of the poor-loser, Southern, white conservative...he refuses to recognize the legitimacy of the President of the United States of America.....that borders on sedition, if not treason, doesn't it?

BTW, since this board is played out, I posted comments here:

and here:

Maybe the Up For Debate gang can congregate on one of those boards?

We've got 12 1/2 weeks let before election. Let's wait and see what happens.

I'll repeat my argument; if Obama is in that office legally, why has he refused to identify himself by showing his papers?

I've got a helluva question: What are y'all going to think about it when it's proven I'm right?

By: bfra on 8/10/12 at 1:52

That's just the same dumb question you have been asking 24/7 from the first day you found this site.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/10/12 at 2:26

Just on TV bfra. It's to hot to leav the hotel.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/10/12 at 2:30

Now that is funny, yogi thinking he can articulate a thoutht better than Loner.

By: Loner on 8/10/12 at 2:32

BHO has shown us his papers...he's legit....the Southern white conservatives just cannot accept his legitimacy....they claim it's not a race-based issue, but that's complete BS.

Do the "duck test" on our resident troll (and his ilk): if it thinks like a racist, if it talks like a racist and if it posts comments like a racist, it's probably a racist.

All we can do is ignore the troll...it thrives on attention....but as the posting community here continues to shrink...the obnoxious and racist troll may be the last one standing.

By: Loner on 8/10/12 at 2:39

Thank you, Captain for those kind words...hope that you are keeping cool...but may your dice...your hand....your skills....your luck.... be hotter than the Nevada desert in August. May you bring home some Las Vegas bacon, Captain!

Fat-bottomed girls make this rockin' world go 'round.....may the Force be with you.

By: yogiman on 8/10/12 at 3:29

I don't know how many times I asked the question, bfra, but I do know I've never received an answer. Don't you have one?

By: yogiman on 8/10/12 at 3:33

I hate to tell you this again, Loner, but that piece of paper Barry showed was a fake. So is the SSN number he's using and the service registration he's using.

I think you need to look a little deeper into the issue.

By: Loner on 8/10/12 at 3:43

Gotta roll, kids....I'll check the Monday NCP for signs of life...or further evidence that our posting community is not welcomed here.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/10/12 at 4:05

Later Lonr and thanks for the good wishes.

By: yogiman on 8/11/12 at 8:37

Well, Mitt Romney has picked Paul Ryan as VP is the race and the race is now on. It's going to be an interesting 12 weeks.

I'm interested to see what Barry's team can come up with against Romney and Ryan.

By: gdiafante on 8/13/12 at 5:15

I can only assume that Romney has decided that he doesn't need the senior vote.

So, in summary, he's lost African-Americans, Hispanics, women and now seniors. Who's left? Oh yeah, the white male. Interesting...

I noticed that the Romney team is already trying to change the message...that Obama, not Ryan, is ending Medicare as we know it...Ryan is a reluctant budget cutter...poor guy.

So, their message is that Obama is a Socialist who wants to expand government and the welfare state by eliminating Medicare...and they wonder why people think they're stupid...lol

Let the free-for-all begin (That's your queue, Ben).

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 5:59

Good morning, Nashville.

The NCP has not put up a new UFD topic for several days now....they should just drop the feature, if they cannot maintain its freshness and topicality.

This is Monday, maybe a new board will appear this morning?

As for Willard's VP choice, Paul Ryan, the former Oscar Mayer Wienermobile pilot and Ayne Rand aficionado, it's interesting to note that Ryan went to college courtesy of the Social Security Administration's survivor benefits...his dad passed away when Paul Ryan was just 16. Now, Paul Ryan, the politician, would deny those benefits to eligble orphans....he wants to scrap the new Deal and replace it with a Darwinian-Dickesnsian paradigm.

Willard the Rat Boy and the Wiener....this is the best that the Grand Old Party can offer....Ayne Rand leftovers, re-heated and re-served.....no thanks.

By: Ummm... on 8/13/12 at 6:08

Ryan is the most dangerous proponent of social Darwinism the Teapublicans have to offer. Death to the underclass!!! This is Rasputin's boy all the way...

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 6:10

Ayne Rand LeftoversRecipe:

Take equal parts of corporate welfare, deregulation, tax exemptions, union-busting, crony capitalism and insider trading and add perpetual holy war and xenophobia. Mix in homophobia to taste. Stir fry in the glare of the media and serve on a stale sub roll....garnish with American Exceptionalism for more eye appeal.

Caution: This dish could lead to diarrhea of the treasury....consult your doctor for details.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 6:17

Former recipients of government benefits who now want to deny those same benefits to others naturally gravitate to the party of high hypocrisy: the Tea-addled Republicans.

Since neither Romney nor Ryan has ever put on a uniform and defended the nation, we can expect them to be very generous with American blood, as it is spilled to advance the agendas of states outside our union of states.

I sometimes think that prior military service should be a prerequisite for the POTUS job...the Commander-In-Chief ought to know something about what he is leading and directing, IMHO. Of course, with the new all-mercenary US force structure, such ideas are quite quaint....we have pros do the killing and maiming for us...no need to conscript soldiers these days...wars can now last forever.

By: dargent7 on 8/13/12 at 6:22

Monday 13th.
Since 7:00am, they did remove last weeks two old topics, leaving just the stale one about Clayton....
But, the astute board members, gd and Loner started the proper topic: Romney's VP pick.
Ryan's no Palin, so they have a good chance of beating Obama.
Listening to the both of them fall all over themselves about "leadership", "character", was nauseous. They referred to each other as "this guy" in 3rd person. Weird.
Ryan will address his religion to get the Catholic vote but Romney will avoid the Mormon cult.

By: yogiman on 8/13/12 at 6:39

It's their site..., and that gives them their choice. Sorry, if you want to pick your argument, buy them out.

By: gdiafante on 8/13/12 at 6:46

The religion aspect is interesting, darge. The GOP is not running a Protestant. I wonder how Obama will capitalize on this.

My guess is that Romney will argue that a Mormon and Catholic is better than a Muslim...gotta cater to the base...

On a side note: anyone catch the closing ceremonies last night? How cool was it to see John Lennon on the jumbotron singing lyrics about no religion...surprised the IOC didn't censor that...just imagine.

By: yogiman on 8/13/12 at 6:57

I hate to tell you this, but you say Romney and Ryan have never put on a uniform and served our country. Tell me, when did Obama and Biden put on a uniform and serve our country. Ya' wanna know? Never!

Now let's look at the fact, Obama want's Romney to show 11 years of his tax records but he doesn't think he should be asked to show any of his person records.

Let's see now, most states are requiring to show a photo ID in order to vote. You must also show a birth certificate to prove you're old enough to get a driver's license, you have to show a birth certificate to enroll into kindergarten and you have to show an identity to buy cigarettes or alcohol. But you don't have to prove you're who you say you are to become President of the USA.

That makes a lot of sense, don't it? But maybe Barry could persuade Romney to "swap it out"; you show me your papers and I'll show you mine.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 7:03

The NCP must not care about the number hits they receive online...most papers want to keep that number high, so as to increase the worth of their ad space....apparently, the NCP does not give a rat's patootie about the volume of their online traffic....that's their choice to make, but we regulars should have an alternate plan, if and when this paper goes belly up....it would be a shame to break up this gang, IMO.

The troll is content with a paper that is in steep decline; myself, I hate to see a good thing go to hell.

Gd, the USSC is composed of Jews and Catholics, both groups are minorities in the USA..

American Protestants must think of Catholics and Jews as their intellectual superiors....there is some evidence that supports that notion....becoming a Jewish Rabbi or a Catholic Priest is not quite as simple or demanding as becoming a Protestant Preacher.

We should never forget that Catholicism is heretical Judaism and Protestantism is heretical Catholicism...and Mormonism is heretical Protestantism....all these cults are gentile creations...it's "Judaism" after a fashion.

By: yogiman on 8/13/12 at 7:04

What's the difference, gdiafnate, a Mormon and Catholic, both of who are Constitutionally eligible for the office, or a Muslim and Catholic, one of which isn't Constitutionally eligible for the office?

I personally prefer the ones in there legally.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 7:11

I missed most of the Olympics...I did catch the tail end of the Women's Beach Volleyball....thunderous thighs in itty bitty Spandex bikinis...what's not to love about that?

John Lennon's, "Imagine" is still current....timeless perhaps. What a loss to humanity....RIP, John Lennon.

By: gdiafante on 8/13/12 at 7:14

I agree about Lennon, Loner.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 7:17

What will our troll do when Barack Hussein Obama is re-elected by a wide margin?

Will the old bigot pick up a weapon and head for DC?

Can we stand four more years of the troll's incessant rantings and ravings about the President's legitimacy?

How many nut-jobs share the views of our troll? What percentage of those are armed and dangerous?

How effective is the Secret Service today? We know that a couple of cheap whores were able to penetrate their ranks with ease.

I fear for the President's life....he is one of the most hated men in the country.

By: parnell3rd on 8/13/12 at 7:18

The Nashville Comminist Paper is getting lame! Leaving topics up for over one week! Finally removed the other 2 that had been up for close to 2 weeks! Jeez, good help is hard to find!

By: parnell3rd on 8/13/12 at 7:19

Up for debate? How about removing all Demoncrat's from the ballot!!!!

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 7:24

Parnell, let's buy the NCP....first order of business would be to ban the trolls.....or not.

I suggested an Open Forum online space...topics would be offered by the posters....new page every day....maybe we clean up the site navigation issues at the same time....it's a pain having to find the last page after each posting, for example.....a single page, viewed last to first or first to last would be nice, IMO. A new page every day would keep the page length manageable.

Ben Dover, are you out there this morning, come in please.

By: BenDover on 8/13/12 at 7:30

Wow... misrepresenting Ryan's positions and bungling Rand's... same old CP different day.

By: gdiafante on 8/13/12 at 7:32

Someone got the GOP talking points memo...lol

By: yogiman on 8/13/12 at 7:33

What do you think makes him the most hated man in the country, Loner? Could it possibly be because he usurped the office and a lot of people like me don't like it?

What worries me the most is that group we have in congress that let it happen to begin with and have let it continue for almost 4 years. If it happens again this year, you can kiss the USA goodbye.

But no, Loner, if Barry can usurp the office again this year I'll quietly stand aside and see how you all relish going into communism with him as your dictator.

You're all grown people so I don't feel any sorrow for you for your ignorance, but I do feel sorry for your children and grandchildren for the coming generations.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 7:37

Parnell likes the One-Party system. Bless his heart. Why bother to carry on a "debate" with an ideologue like that? Of course, he's yanking our chains...without "Demoncrats" who could he demonize? The Dems actually give Parnell a reason to go on living?

Careful of what you wish for, my friend....you may get your wish for the One-Party system...with the Special Interests buying influence in both major parties, hedging their bets, we are heading in that direction.

The Super PACS are the last nails in the coffin of representative democracy in America. If this is "American Exceptionalism", then it's a good thing that not every nation shares the "exceptional" distinction.

What we have is Democracy Lite...not the full strength stuff....the Founders would be dismayed.

By: gdiafante on 8/13/12 at 7:42

I'd say Sandusky is the most hated man in America.

Unless yogi thinks America is only the birthers...

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 7:44

Ah, my old friend, Ben Dover has reported in with the official spin on the spin.

Ayne Rand was not a social Darwinist and a fan of Dickensian governance?

And Ryan, the former Oscar Mayer Wienermobile pilot is the GOP's "intellectual leader", according to LDS Bishop Willard Romney.

This is going to be a cake walk for the Dems? Obama should be wary of an October surprise in the ME... Willard & The Wiener are no threat to his presidency....Netanyahu could be.

By: yogiman on 8/13/12 at 7:46

Well, gdaifarte, the USA used to be filled with home town Americans. Then we got a bunch of usurper lovers. Sad, but true.

By: gdiafante on 8/13/12 at 7:54

Keep digging that hole, yogi. It'll save time and effort when you finally shuffle off this mortal coil.

By: yogiman on 8/13/12 at 7:58

Let me know what you think Nov. 6, gdiafarte. If your man usurps again, I can't wait to see how you feel in 2016.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 8:00

Good question, who IS the most hated man in America?

I Googled it. This list includes males and females.

1. John Edwards
2. Bernie Madoff
3. Casey Anthony
4. O.J. Simpson
5. Mel Gibson
6. Jerry Sandusky
7. Kim Kardashian
8. Michael Moore
9. Tiger Woods
10. Paris Hilton

Read more: http://www.wptv.com/dpp/news/national/top-10-most-hated-people-in-america--as-compiled-by-new-york-post#ixzz23Qy1Nxu9

BHO did not make the top ten...not in the USA anyway. According to this source, "opinion polls showing that a bare six to eight percent of the Israeli public supports Barack Obama"

Source: http://www.haaretz.com/news/why-do-israelis-dislike-barack-obama-1.4930

Any nation that could attack the USS Liberty as they did in June, 1967, could easily rationalize an "extrajudicial killing" of a hated US President, if that POTUS was considered an existential threat to the Jewish State.

The Mossad could easily find an American stooge to be the trigger-man....just download the NRA membership list for starters, then cross reference them with known religious extremists and soon a nasty short list would materialize.

The Israelis certainly have the savvy and influence to do the job and get away with it.

By: gdiafante on 8/13/12 at 8:03

If he usurps again, I hope someone says gesundheit. It's only polite.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 8:12

It's a pissing contest:

John Edwards pissed off the general population.
Bernie Madoff pissed-off his investors.
Casey Anthony pissed off the mothers of America.
OJ Simpson pissed off the general population, not counting the black jurors.
Mel Gibson pissed off the Jews.
Jerry Sandusky pissed off everyone but the pedophiles.
Kim Kardashian pissed off the reality show fans.
Michael Moore pissed off the conservatives.
Tiger Woods pissed off his wife and wives everywhere.
Paris Hilton pissed of the insanely jealous.

Apparently, if one wants to be loved, not hated, then do not piss people off.

By: BenDover on 8/13/12 at 8:15

"Take equal parts of corporate welfare, deregulation, tax exemptions, union-busting, crony capitalism and insider trading "

Rand's magnum opus, Atlas Shrugged, was a cautionary tale against corporate welfare, manipulative tax exemptions, crony capitalism and insider dealings. If the Occupy Wall Street movement had not been really founded in sophomoric Marxism she would have been a great champion of much of its premise.

"...and add perpetual holy war and xenophobia... "

Rand was extremely critical of our military interventions abroad including WWI and WWII... and even criticized Reagan for fostering fear of the inept and crumbling USSR

" .... Mix in homophobia to taste...."

She was also a devout atheist and though she found homosexuality to be perverse she often rallied for an equal treatment of gays under the law (short of special privilege of course).

"...Stir fry in the glare of the media and serve on a stale sub roll....garnish with American Exceptionalism for more eye appeal...."

Her criticisms of the media were well illustrated in my favorite work of her's, The Fountainhead as she saw media clearly for the propaganda machine it is.

By: BenDover on 8/13/12 at 8:24

Note: that's just a criticism of your critique of Rand, loner... not a defense of her philosophy. Rand's views paint a stark contrast to the Machiavellian leftists but come up short in practice and philosophical wholeness, I think. Anyone who's read Marx's Manifesto should contrast it to Rand's Objectivism. The dueling arrogant atheists miss great aspects of reality though that were, and are, hugely important to the evolution of Western Civilization.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 8:26

Ben, all the great thinkers are victims of misinterpretation, Rand is no exception. The author's views get taken out of context or are mistranslated. "Intellectuals" then interpret the thoughts of the great ones for the masses. The rest is history.

I'm sure that Rand was not a fan of Scrooge; but she had little compassion for Tiny Tim's family.

Correct me, if I am mistaken, but Rand thought that "charity" - that is caring for the poor, the elderly and the disabled - was not within the purview of governance...she preferred the tried and failed method of letting the faith-based groups do the social work.

I think that the record is clear, the New Deal has been a great leap forward for Americans; the churches, temples and synagogues had their chances to do the job...they failed....government, however has delivered the goods....if that makes me a "socialist", so be it.

By: gdiafante on 8/13/12 at 8:26

Rand is too long-winded for me. Atlas Shrugged did cure my insomnia though, so thank you Ayn.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 8:35

Thank you Ben, for responding to my recipe for Randian Leftovers. It was a mix of conservative leftovers....no new ingredients.

Machiavelli was a leftist? That depends on whether the Prince was a hero, or a villain. I guess that all anti-monarchists are leftists, in that case....this would include conservative small d democrats, I suppose, the merchant class etc.

I like your phrase, "dueling arrogant atheists". The fact that Rand was an avowed atheist could be used against the GOP ticket...the Evangelicals might not be fully aware of Rand's "Satanic connections"....we will spread the word on that...thanks for the reminder.

By: BenDover on 8/13/12 at 8:38

I addressed the points where your critique of Rand's views was incorrect loner. the tome Shrugged illustrates her views to be the antithesis of cronyism, corporate welfare and insider dealings. Like I said... if Occupy wasn't simply veiled Marxism much of what they tout could have come from a Rand novel.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 8:42

Let's air Rand's dirty laundry, shall we?

Here are some Rand quotes on the issue of a woman's right to choose:

[Ayn Rand on Abortion] “An embryo has no rights. Rights do not pertain to a potential, only to an actual being. A child cannot acquire any rights until it is born. The living take precedence over the not-yet-living (or the unborn).

[Ayn Rand on Abortion] “Abortion is a moral right—which should be left to the sole discretion of the woman involved; morally, nothing other than her wish in the matter is to be considered. Who can conceivably have the right to dictate to her what disposition she is to make of the functions of her own body?”
from Rand’s book chap “Of Living Death” in bookThe Voice of Reason, 58–59

This stuff is dynamite, Ben...Willard & the Wiener will have to pick & choose some limited parts of Rand's philosophy to champion and other parts will have to be condemned.

By: BenDover on 8/13/12 at 8:42

No... the leftists invariably adopt Machiavellian tactics when their attempts at central planning for the welfare of the masses always fall apart. Heavy handed becomes heavier handed in a self-feeding cycle of increasing failure on each of Hayek's roads to serfdom.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 8:44

I can hear it now, "Ayne Rand was a godless feminist who advocated for unlimited abortion on demand."

Dynamite....it could blow up the coalition between the Christian theocrats and the GOP.
