Up for debate: Should democrats be able to remove Mark Clayton from the ballot?

Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 9:05pm

Democrats were embarassed last week when a candidate with very little in common with their party won the nomination for U.S. Senate. Should they be allowed to replace him with an actual Democrat?

Actually, Ben, it's the masses that desire the welfare. Example: Try and take food stamps/medicaid/SS.

Go ahead...try.

In a Republic, representatives act on behalf of the people. The people won't stand for it. You can whine all you want, but that's the way it is.

Rand was no conservative. Libertarianism is probably a better ideological match but her Objectivism abandons... (severs, actually) any connection with Western social and cultural roots. Her only connection to conservatism is in an extreme, almost evangelical, adherence laissez faire economics.

Talk about neo-serfdom...the Judeo-Christian warriors are all for that stuff too....we have returned to the mentality of the Great Crusades of the 11th, 12th & 13th centuries...Divine Right leaders are leading the masses to their faith-based demise right now....with today's nuclear arsenals, humanity could be forced back into feudalism in a post-nuclear nightmare world....lots of serfs, a few nobles and a Divine Right warlord king.

We both agree there should be social safety nets, gd... my point has always been that when you have a progressive tax system there's little popular political check on how much of the economy these programs will consume.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 8:57

Willard & the Wiener have embraced the philosophy of a cold-hearted, godless, abortion-loving, feminist...that's a political tar-baby, Ben....Rand's whacko views are now stuck like tar to the Republican Presidential ticket....add in Willard's tax evasion, his draft evasion and his question evasion and BINGO! Obama wins by a landslide.

Get used to it, BHO is here for four more years.

By: dargent7 on 8/13/12 at 9:05

Religion was a big concern with JFK in 1961.
Obama overcame Rev. Wright in 2008, which was no small feat.
Both were extremely likable, charismatic, youthful, great looking men.
Richard Nixon? A dog. McCain? Older than dirt.
Romney and Ryan are also good looking. It's the only thing that counts in America.
Obama's camp cannot exploit Catholics so they'll go after the Mormon ties. He being a Bishop. That could kill the ticket.
Cannot believe all the Republican strategists are extolling Romney's, "gutsy move", "bold choice", in picking Ryan. How hard was it?
Only 42, still married only once, 3 kids.
This Nov. election will come down to FL and OH.
2004 deja vu' all over again.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 9:07

Uh...it's time:

"A Bishop in a heretical cult and a Randian Papist march in to a gay piano bar..."

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 9:12

The Cheeseheads of Wisconsin...former home of American Motors, George Romney's firm...will now go GOP? Or will WI do a TN and condemn their own native son?

The cheese-making, meat-packing, beer-brewing, NFL-loving Wisconsians may decide the fate of this election. ...I tell you, the Electoral College system sucks.

By: BenDover on 8/13/12 at 9:14

Methinks you're about to climax too soon there loner. It's easy to dismiss Ryan with sound bytes when he's House budget committee chairman and has no sizable stump from which to defend himself.

All the false Mediscare claims will fall apart when Fact-Check is forced to start printing the truth about Ryan's plans and about his critics' vacuous hysterical fear mongering.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 9:23

May the truth come out...let's see the tax returns. Let's see the Bishop's LDS Ordination Documents. Let's see the Social Security Department's record concerning Paul Ryan's survivor's benefits that financed his college education. Let's see the plan.....if it's more deregulation, tax breaks for corporations and tycoons, more Super PAC activity, more union-busting, more disenfranchisement of safety net stake-holders, more voter suppression, more privatization, more holy war, then we know the plan...is there anything more to it than that?

We tried that plan under Junior Bush...we are still recovering. NO MAS!!

Objectivist Randian bartender announces, "altar boys and prepubescent wives... 3 for $10"

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 9:27

Climaxing too soon? LOL, Ben. At my age, I should know how to pace myself....sorry, if my orgasmic rantings offended thee...I'll try to do better going forward, thank you.

But, it was good for me...I feel like having a smoke.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 9:29

Again...LOL on the punch line for the running gag, Ben....we need to keep things light here, IMO.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 9:33

Internet Rumor Mill:
Paul Ryan was an abused altar boy? He WAS voted "biggest brown nose" in high school...and the phallic nature of the kid-attracting Wienermobile is undeniable ...he was a known Penn State fan....put it all together, give it a shake and see what falls out.

Just kidding.

By: BenDover on 8/13/12 at 9:38

The attack machine was cocked and ready when the announcement for Ryan came. The plan must have been on-file like those canned obituaries they whip out when an older Hollywood star or political figure dies.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 9:39

Is Willard a closeted polygamist? His grampa left the states to pursue his polygamous ways, right? Does he have more than one spiritual wife? Let's schlepp polygamy into the debate...make the LDS Bishop take a stand on the issue....we, the people, have a right to know.

By: BenDover on 8/13/12 at 9:40

"... 'scuse me while I whips this out ... " Cleavon Little

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 9:41

You bet, Ben...we just opened up a six-pack of Whup-Ass....Nazdrowie!

By: BenDover on 8/13/12 at 9:41

I've just totally stocked your armory today, haven't I, Loner.

By: BenDover on 8/13/12 at 9:44

Don't forget the magic underwear and getting his own planet to be God over when he dies.

By: BenDover on 8/13/12 at 9:46

Are the networks planning the Mormon expose to run parallel with the Republican convention yet?

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 9:51

Ben, you have been most helpful. Thank you...please continue with the generosity.

BTW, this is Protest Monday.....gotta take the DJ5-L into Orleans County...gonna carry my sign, HOLY WARS SUCK, in front of the Courthouse once again. Lot's of thumbs ups lately. One guy flipped us off. That's par for that course.

I may head back to Brushwood later in the week...Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen are scheduled to perform in the Sherman, NY area. I'd like to get in just a little more Summer camp, if I can....a little more campfire and fest...a little more drumming, piping and dancing....it's gonna be a long, cold winter...gotta party while we can.

By: BenDover on 8/13/12 at 9:54

Happy Protesting, loner... and have a hippie chic or two for me while you're at Brushwood.

By: Loner on 8/13/12 at 9:57

The Mormon Hill Cumorah Pageant in Palmyra, NY should be extra popular this year...talk about Profound Bullshit....don't take my word for it go here:

As I said heresy upon heresy, IMHO.

Do we really and truly want an ordained LDS Bishop as POTUS and CINC? Methinks not. Let the truth come out about Mormonism and Willard's abiding faith.

Pick up this weeks edition of TCP, Aug. 13th
The Backpage has re-printed an anonamous letter they received.
re: Muslims.
It's a great pictorial and outlay and the Editor's comment is superlative.

By: BenDover on 8/13/12 at 10:07

I think you are overreacting a bit there loner. The Osmonds never instilled fear into my heart the way they do you, I guess. Donny and Marie were a little cozy to be brother and sister though.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/13/12 at 10:09

Good morning Nashville, I'm coming home and I am bring some Kligons.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/13/12 at 10:12

Are you saying that Donny and Marie were........ Kinky.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/13/12 at 10:12

Well... there's obviously something wrong with them if they are Mormons, right?

By: bfra on 8/13/12 at 10:33

I quit watching "Dancing with the Stars" after they literally "gave" Donnie the trophy. He sure didn't earn it and has two left feet, to boot.

By: brrrrk on 8/13/12 at 11:01

I ran across this new Romney campaign photo.....

By: BenDover on 8/13/12 at 12:07

That's good brrrrk

By: gdiafante on 8/13/12 at 12:17

I read that darge. Doesn't surprise me at all. Any bets it was yogi?

That has yogi "ritten" [sic] all over it.....

By: Captain Nemo on 8/13/12 at 12:59

Someone and I won't say their name ( brrrrk ) said the bad word and now I fun will begain.

By: dargent7 on 8/13/12 at 1:34

yogi didn't write that.
He's strickly limited to FOX News talking points and several Birther's out there in tv Land.
A myna bird.
This guy is pissed off, alright, but he wrote from his belief system, what he feels. Lot of emotion.
Yogi is strictly repetitive, mirroring someone(s) elses, eg., Rush Limbaugh.

By: yogiman on 8/13/12 at 1:45

You kids seem to want to have a little fun, check out Obama's crimes and let me know how much you enjoyed it. Have fun.

By: dargent7 on 8/13/12 at 2:15

Ok, yogi,
I'll see your claim of Obama's crimes and raise you on GW Bush's and Cheney's, et al., war crimes in 2003
Add in daddy's 1991 invasion of Iraq. That's 20 years of war crimes.

By: yogiman on 8/13/12 at 2:18

It would be great if you knew what you're writing about, dargent7. How about learning what you're posting in your comments about me.

You're exposing why you flunked civics in college.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/13/12 at 3:08

yogi kisses pigs.

By: dargent7 on 8/13/12 at 3:26

At Michigan, we we'ren't offered any "Civics" classes. Called them, "Arts & Letters". Were those you refer to a gay division of Home Economics?

I had Civics in high school, but in yogis defense, maybe in his day civics was a college course.... along with courses like "The Wheel: Is it just a fad or is it here to stay?"

It doesn't make any difference. Career Dems all know they are going to be washed out to sea in November. They all know why, too - because "It's all about ObaMao" who doesn't care a bit about the party. He plans to get a second term on his "cult of personality". If that works, he'll have no governing majority in the Congress and will have to try to rule by "executive orders". He seems to believe he has some magical powers which will allow him to rule as a despot.
