Up for debate: The State Fair

The Tennessee State Fair is the subject of wrangling between Metro and the state. The newly appointed state board has told the Metro Fair Board that it must offer a lease to the state's appointed non-profit. The Metro board has asked for more money. Who's right?

Raspy old boy, not counting myself, I know that two who post here make in the neighborhood of 175,000 and one is over 200,000. None have made a ass of themselves bragging what there income is annually.

NEMO......Every single dime including college tuition was afforded by me. My parents gave me more than they could afford and was greatly needed and appreciated but it was only a smattering of the real cost. I drove a Renault Dauphine in college that sometimes did not have enough compression to get me up the hills in Knoxville and my friend would push me up with my foot on the gas pedal. I know about potted meat and I know about vienna sausage and bologna and spam.
I also knew that I would do everything in my power to rise above my circumstances. They did not have college loans when I was in school. I worked during every semester and quarter and summers to afford state school tuition. My parents cheered me on.
See, I don't grumble about paying my taxes. I recognize the value of paying them and I don't begrudge the people less fortunate than I am.

d'arge... I think Taylor Swift is the country version of some of the old folk guys... not in the same class of course, but the music is like early Springsteen... (think, the River) and Dylan... and though her writing is a bit more candy and pop she seems very talented musically.
She doesn't have the pipes of Carrie Underwood but her songs are catchy, rhythmic... very folky.. Not my taste really but I see why she'd so popular... another story teller.

Unlike you I worked at night (in Nashville) and went the school in Murfressboro during the day. I had a room on campus to get a nap before I went to work at night then go to school when I got off work in the morning.

And I correct myself. The killer in LA didn't set the fire. The tear gas (or whatever it's called) ignited the fire. BUT it would not have been necessary if the monster had not invaded the home. New Topic: I read where the mother of the 6-year old kidnapped from the bus, had already decided to forgive him (kidnapper) and believed he meant no harm to her son. I thought the child was 5, but in the pictures, he didn't look that old. Regardless, just thankful the child wasn't physically harmed & hope he can return to a normal life.
