To you, what are the pros and cons of each of the three sites mentioned in the Sounds stadium site analysis? Which site makes the best sense?

Cumma see, cumma saw. To me it makes no difference. I can't see any advantage of one site over the other.

Location is that immaterial.

By: dargent7 on 12/2/11 at 4:26

I wonder how Cain's speech went over at MSTU last night.
Had to be some hecklers in the crowd.
Can't believe they didn't cancel the dang thing.

The scrap metal site along the River bank will probably be favorite
of the Chamber as well as by many citizens just to get rid of the
ugliness of that site. That site, however, will possibly cost a King's
ransom to clean up environmentally! After the city has paid $100,00 +
for a study as to locations the existing site was not mentioned
except by the Major who says it would be a good "Green Space".

By: Captain Nemo on 12/2/11 at 6:38

The East bank site is a good place, but the cost of enviroment clean upis going to bt high.

By: JayBee56 on 12/2/11 at 7:14

All valid issues. PSC has been there for years and years. Cleanup will cost a lot. Do we NEED a new baseball stadium financed with public funds? Is this a necessity or a "want to have"? Any essential services or improvements that we are NOT doing that should take precedence over this project?

By: Captain Nemo on 12/2/11 at 7:20

I heard that there was176 cars that crashed on Vietnam Vet. Yesterday. Has there been any more to the story?

By: treehugger7 on 12/2/11 at 7:21

Cain got heckled by occupy folks--as it shoud be. Just go sell books and leave the politicing to the real candidates! Not that there are any of consequence left.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/2/11 at 7:23

PSC and a lot more hidden dangers I would think lies in wait, I would think.

By: treehugger7 on 12/2/11 at 7:26

Yes, Nemo, one man died. He was very active in the community and will be missed. All these flyover bridges have deadly consequences when combined with bad weather and the idiotic drivers in Nashville. That's what you get with little public transportation and design flaws in constuction.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/2/11 at 7:30

Cain is just another example as to what the GOP has let infest the party. I think that the Democrats should be out courting the moderate and conservative Republican members. Let the fringe implode.

By: dargent7 on 12/2/11 at 7:30

50 cars...one death...28 year old Paul Warren. Got married Oct. 15. Was to attend his sisters wedding, tomorrow (CXL'd).
Doesn't get much worse.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/2/11 at 7:35

I drive on the V.V a lot and even on good weather days it is dangerous. I am sorry to hear someone died and that he was an community actives. Who was it and what was his interest in the community?

By: dargent7 on 12/2/11 at 7:36

"...design flaws..."? Talking about God?
The temperature is what it is. 27 degees is below freezing, and people still have to go to work. Try telling your boss, "But, it's cold outside".
There's plenty of 40-50 car crashes in Colorado, California, etc.
Winds, fog, snow, ice, sleet.
People need to go where they need to be.
Too bad they can't use discretion and JUST STAY HOME!

By: Captain Nemo on 12/2/11 at 7:46

That is horrible, d7. It is like driving in a rifle barrel through that area and the driver are among some of the worst in Middle Tennessee. In my opinion the divers between Nashville and Murfreesboro on I-24 are worse.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/2/11 at 7:52

I got my snow driving skills while I was working in Rochester, NY. The people there do not panic in the snow like they do here. Now days when we have a big snow, I wait till after 9 to go to work. By then the people have either wreaked or gotten to work.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/2/11 at 7:55

Well I got now. I coming home and I will stop and make my usual deposit in Gordonsville. LOL

Occupy folks need to occupy jobs and not street space. Glad to hear some cities are "cleaning up the streets".

Capt. I am obligated to agree with you today. I 24 drivers do not understand that the speed limit is posted for a reason -- LIMIT -- being the optimal word. And the weather plays a role in the speed LIMIT. But they don't get it. So they drive like crazies!

I'm not sure if mass transport would help in fog cause the mass transit might be involved in the accident!

By: govskeptic on 12/2/11 at 8:08

Funny that only interest by local and national media last night was a
few disgruntled students at Cain speech. What he said to students
concerning Business (only subject of speech) would have been too
far over the head of 99% of the so-called Journalist present!

By: yogiman on 12/2/11 at 8:30

Welcome home, dumba... I hope some good crap comes out of you. Your lousy s... is too much.

By: BenDover on 12/2/11 at 8:40

Looks like the old steam plant is off the list.

If they want that recycle plant's property they'll just get the feds to shut it down for them. City and state governments get waivers on EPA stuff all the time so if it's city owned the clean-up should be minimal. Snodgrass is full of Asbestos but only a private company would have to fix it.

By: bfra on 12/2/11 at 8:47

Too bad the taxpayers can't get an EPA waiver to clean up our government, local & State. They are more contaminated than any property.

By: BenDover on 12/2/11 at 8:58

Yeah... those saints at the federal level could really show us backward-ass rubes a thing or three.

By: bfra on 12/2/11 at 9:02

Ben - Referring to our politicians as "us", didn't realize you worked in government.

By: dargent7 on 12/2/11 at 9:12

Yeah,...kinda like Nixon giving a speech on diplomacy in China all the while the Watergate investigation was at it's peak...his 18 minute 'erasure"...(but, we're not going to talk about it).
Cain's a liar from start to finish.
He's only now, "starting to remember he gave Ms. White thousands over 13 years", 'cause I'm down with the unfortunate".
PT Barnum: "There's a sucker born every minute".

By: BenDover on 12/2/11 at 9:13

Well it would seem to be a criticism of the idiots who elected them, bfra.

By: BenDover on 12/2/11 at 9:22

Nixon's 18 1/2 minutes over the bumbling plumbers attempt to steal the DNC's prostitute list is chicken shit compared to Gun Walker which most people still have not even heard of. The double standard with the media prevails undaunted though, reputation untarnished.

By: bfra on 12/2/11 at 9:24

NO Ben it is a criticism of politician's claims before an election and their actions after elected. They take the stance of, what ever benefits ME & my cohorts goes, to hell with the people that elected ME!

By: BenDover on 12/2/11 at 9:49

Who are you talking about bfra? That would sound more like what they do at the national level rather than the local and state level.

By: bfra on 12/2/11 at 9:53

Ben - I am talking about the majority of our politicians on the local, state & national level! Including the councilpeople here!

By: BenDover on 12/2/11 at 10:02

Whatever... what about the double standard on Gunwalker?

By: bfra on 12/2/11 at 10:08

I haven't really kept up this that and the last I saw, there was no final verdict.

By: sidneyames on 12/2/11 at 10:09

D7 said: "Cain's a liar from start to finish.
He's only now, "starting to remember he gave Ms. White thousands over 13 years", 'cause I'm down with the unfortunate"."

Well, if he gave her thousands over 13 years and she was "sleeping" with him, she must be a hooker, which is also illegal.

D7, anyone can accuse anyone of anything at anytime and get it heard in a court of law, usually. If you were accused, would you want to be tried in the media? Probably not.

There is currently a lawsuit against this woman by her former business partner (another woman) for libel (which is lying, as you know). So let's just clarify one thing: At this point it appears Ms. White is a lying hooker, so why would you believe her about anything she says? Are you so gullible that you can't hold on for the facts to surface? I say hold off and wait for the real answers.

And by the way, who did Obama date BEFORE Michelle? Hmmmmmm?

By: bfra on 12/2/11 at 10:16

this that, should be "with that"! Sorry!

By: bfra on 12/2/11 at 10:20

bud - Without reposting your entire "sick" comment. This coming from a woman that went on the Geraldo show, because her livein boyfriend left his money to his family, instead of her. Info put on this board by you. Really!

By: BenDover on 12/2/11 at 10:42

You have not kept up with it because the media isn't covering it. That's the point.

By: sidneyames on 12/2/11 at 11:00

bud - Without reposting your entire "sick" comment. This coming from a woman that went on the Geraldo show, because her livein boyfriend left his money to his family, instead of her. Info put on this board by you. Really!

You have not got a clue what you are talking about as you hid behind your "initials". I am happy to report that I went on the show to inform others of the mistake of shacking up without the benefit of marriage. I went on the show to let others know that it was "wrong" to "live in sin" and that the states give you no rights. It worked. While in NY City shopping at Macy's I met a young woman in her 20's who recognized me. She said "thank you, my boy friend and I are NOT living together any longer and are planning our wedding". This was good news to me and I said if only one person benefitted, it was well worth my pain.

I have lived with the pain of my WRONG decision to shack up (no gentle way to say that). And I do not ever back down on saying I was wrong in doing so. What about you, bfra? How's the window in your glass house? You must have had to install bullet proof glass like the White House. LOL

Keep up with your stabbing and jabbing. Whatever does not kill me, makes me stronger and it's OK because I know you can't "hep" it!

And my "live-in" boyfriend's sons got his "wrongful" death money which I understand was about 11 million and reports are that they have squandered it. He was such a hard worker, so I know it would hurt him tremendously to hear that. I bet you think that's a good thing. I am not driven by $$$$, but Love. Keep on keeping on bfra!

By: sidneyames on 12/2/11 at 11:01

bfra, stay out of the mall; it's not safe for haters like you.

By: BenDover on 12/2/11 at 11:01

They got Nixon for an erased tape... Clinton for a Blow Job... but nothing for Arming the Mexican Drug cartel with thousands of automatic weapons?

By: bfra on 12/2/11 at 11:09

bud - I didn't put your sorrid past on this board, you did. It is definitely nothing to brag about & no I have never put myself in that situation. But, don't call Ms. White names, when you don't even know the true facts. So with the info, about yourself you have plastered on the board, are you a hooker, like you called her?

By: bfra on 12/2/11 at 11:11

bud - The NYC story, did you get that from yogi?

By: Loner on 12/2/11 at 12:19

Hello, Nashville!

Back from my latest road trip. As for the topic of the day, here is an iteration of something I said on another board devoted to this same tired subject:

By: Loner on 12/1/11 at 7:56

More bread and circus, to benefit politicians, at taxpayer's expense.

Minor league baseball is moribund...professional baseball itself is an endangered animal. Google it....baseball is withering on the vine.

This Sounds Stadium idea is being forced down the taxpayer's throats...the idea has been repeatedly rejected by the taxpayers...but kickback seeking politicians and land speculators just won't let the idea die a natural death. Let the Sounds die in peace....or let them take a hike.

Kill this wasteful and stupid idea, once and for all.

OK. Got that out of the way....what's up, Nashville?

By: yogiman on 12/2/11 at 12:30

bfra (big foolishly remarking asinine),

I wish I had the intelligence you seem to think you have. But I'm sure glad I exceed what you actually have.

By: Loner on 12/2/11 at 12:42

Relevant snippet:

Dec 1, 2011 - What was once a promising start for the Buffalo Bills has turned into a disappointing 5-6 season with five games left in the season. They enter Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans on a four-game losing streak and faint hopes at the playoffs. The Bills opened this game as one-point home underdogs, according to Odds Shark. Multiple odds makers have already moved the spread around from being a push to having the Bills favored anywhere from one to three points.

Looks like it could go either way...with home field advantage, if the weather is sunny*, the Bills should squeak by the Tennessee Titans....IMO.

*Daylight Deprivation Disorder (DDD) is already setting in around here....makes one lethargic and rather torpid.

By: dargent7 on 12/2/11 at 12:56

Ms. White and the 4 others are to blame, Sidney?
She didn't sign a "confidentiality" agreement with a year's pay like the 4 others.
She's the "hooker"?
How about, "He's the lying slut"?

By: Loner on 12/2/11 at 1:04

You gotta give Cain credit for his world class chutzpah....

Herman Cain's campaign is out with a new "Women for Cain" website described as "an online national fellowship of women dedicated to helping elect Herman Cain as the next president of the United States."

The site describes Cain, who has been accused of a 13-year extramarital affair as well as multiple instances of sexual harassment, as "a strong advocate for women throughout his lifetime."

Cain's wife Gloria is "National Chairperson" of the effort; the site calls her "the very special woman who Mr. Cain devoted his life to many years ago." The site, which notes that Herman and Gloria Cain have been married for 43 years, encourages women to send in videos and written testimonials of their positive impressions of the former Godfather's Pizza CEO. The site does not include an image of Gloria Cain or a personal appeal from her directly.

The unmitigated gall of this guy is something to behold.

By: Loner on 12/2/11 at 1:05

Sid and Bud are members of the "Women for Cain" fan club?

By: bfra on 12/2/11 at 1:17

Loner - Sid & Bud are one & the same.

By: Loner on 12/2/11 at 1:25

The GOP raised the morality bar for US Presidents, when they tried to crucify Bill Clinton for his extra-marital tryst....getting something on the side was deemed to be a high crime...an impeachable offense. That's the new standard for any POTUS.

Using that established standard, Newt Gingrich and Herman "the Sperman" Cain fail the Presidential vetting test.

I suppose that the born agains, the GOP base, would prefer a thrice married, known marital cheater, like Newt Gingrich, for President, as opposed to a member of a cult...a Mormon... like Mitt Romney.

The Republican-Tea Party base is willing to forget that Newt has been a well-compensated lobbyist ever since leaving public office....along the lines of one Richard Cheney.....and we now know how disastrous it can be, when a former politician turned lobbyist gets back into a position of federal power....huge lies, wholesale corruption, sweetheart deals, kickbacks, no-bid contracts, expensive privatization etc. are the demonstrated result.

By: brrrrk on 12/2/11 at 1:36

Loner said

"Sid and Bud are members of the "Women for Cain" fan club?"

Isn't it funny that the GOP seemed to be OK with Cain when "all" he did was sexually harass women.... but now that he has cheated on his wife all hell has broke loose? Hmmm, wonder what that implies.....

By: Loner on 12/2/11 at 2:24

Brrrrk, Ginger was the proverbial straw that broke the elephant's back?

Bfra, I was trying to play along with that poster's delusions...you know, humor the poor SOB.

So, where are the Cain love children? Let's trot them out too....but seriously, Cain is finished...time to move on....Cain has been disabled....the Cain Train has been derailed.

Mitt, or Newt? Or some Savior Figure? My crystal balls are silent on that subject...so, I dare not venture a guess at this time.

I think that Obama will be re-elected, regardless of his opponent...unless some unseen disaster occurs....that's the X-factor...the election is nearly a year away...a lot can happen between now and then.
