Up for Debate: Subway death photos

Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 2:10am

A New York Post photographer and the paper itself are being criticized for running a photo of the man killed by a New York subway train, showing him trapped in the path of the train just moments before he died. There are also photos of the man on the platform with the man he was arguing with before that man pushed him into the path of the train. What is your reaction to the publication of the photos? What are the reasons to publish or not publish them? Do you blame the photographers?

Why was there no one helping the man up?

Will we have another day of Rasputin trying to get more attention than yogi?

Will yogi repeat the same questions over and over to remain #1 troll.

Will p3 spill coffer today?

By: Rasputin72 on 12/6/12 at 5:08

This subject has no substance, much like the "Simple Six" Not worthy of comment.

Perhaps a better subject tomorrow.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 5:11

Yet the troll comments.

Rasputin are your richer then Warren Buffett?

By: Ask01 on 12/6/12 at 6:06

Speaks very poorly of New York City, doesn't it?

An unpleasant side effect of becoming large city is the impersonal nature engendered by having so many people in such a confined space.

A highly effective argument, in my opinion, against allowing a city to grow so large people lose empathy for each other.

As morbid as the photos are, I believe their publication can serve a positive purpose if public condemnation were sufficient to shame the residents into changing, which is highly improbable.

The greatest service these photos may provide is as a warning to beware of small minded, small time, small town politicians with aspirations of expanded power trying to guide cities to grow beyond their humanity.

Perhaps a lesson to be learned locally.

What kind of shlemiel manages to insert into every comment some mention of his worn out pet peeve, even when there are absolutely no connections to be found?

Give it a rest when such comments are so obviously non sequiter, you ignorant hockey puck!

You have ample opportunity to display your obsession for all to ridicule.

What a meshhug!

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 6:23

You insist I'm wrong; prove it.

Been there, done that. It's not our fault you aren't smart enough to understand the information presented. Sounds like a personal problem to me.

Good morning, Nashville.

Haven't seen the photos in question and I don't care to see them. The New York Post and the NY Daily News are sensationalist rags; so, I'm not surprised by all this. Nobody tried to help the doomed man, or so it seems...that part is truly frightening.

The alleged pusher is homeless man, if found guilty, he will spend the rest of his life in a nice, warm, New York State, jail cell... with three hots and a cot...that's better than being homeless, I suppose....maybe the pusher just wanted out of the New York rat race....he's out of there now....the killer rat is now in a cage and he needs to be fed and cared for....that's "justice", in the Empire State.

By: Loner on 12/6/12 at 7:04

Yogi's brain surgery went horribly bad....he's been left with a one track mind...stuck in first gear....like a boy just out of puberty, suffering from Beaver Fever, our troll, Yogi, suffers from Usurperitis....he is obsessed with the President's eligibility.....he simply can't think of anything else....his "mind" was removed by surgeons....the poor bastard is bat-shit crazy.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 7:10

I haven't seen the photos either. To play devil's advocate and argue for the case of mankind, maybe it happened so quickly that people were either in shock or thought it was something else...

Ok, maybe not...but there are two things we should get used to...people paying more attention to their phone (taking pictures/video) than the scenario playing out right in front of them and a general apathy towards our fellow man.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 7:13

Things like this happen anywhere Ask01. There is as video of three woman and a man beating and robbing a woman at a Citco. All the while passer by watched. This took place here in Nashville.

I would hope that I would take action in a similar case, but then....

By: Loner on 12/6/12 at 7:14

Yogi's apparent madness may be attributable to his brain surgery; Rasputin's delusions of grandeur are not so easily explained....alcohol could have been a factor, he's a gin freak.

We all have our shortcomings....I have plenty of quirks & faults too...remember, life can be cruel and nobody gets out alive.....or sane. Let's try to be a little more civil to each other....thanks.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 7:15

The photos lead to the arrest of the suspected.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 7:18

IF he had brain surgery, it's moot because he believed the same delusions before then. And, he continues to post here, cite crazy sources, etc. I'd say nothing has changed. He's a proven liar so I'll let his reputation speak for itself.

By: Loner on 12/6/12 at 7:20

Good point, Captain...the pusher might have gotten away with murder, if the photographer had not snapped the pic....as I understand it, there were plenty of bystanders who could have helped the doomed man.

By: parnell3rd on 12/6/12 at 7:21

p3 does not spill coffee! oh, you said coffer your bad. Watch out bfra or gdia will spank you for you mispelling!

By: yogiman on 12/6/12 at 7:24

Well, fellow,

This old fool still wants to know how a "former" Indonesian citizen can become our president; or is he still an Indonesian citizen? I don't know, do any of you? Didn't think so.

Where was that lack of natural born citizen removed from our Constitution? I've never read of that amendment. Has any of you? Didn't think so.

Why did the Senate approve John McCain for the office because both of his parents were American citizens, not just one?

My question remains: What idiocy are you using that you can accept a person as your president when you don't even know who in the hell they are? Simply because they was "elected"? Then I ask: How can you be elected to an office if you aren't legally eligible to hold that office? You know, you can't play in spots for one school if you go to another school. Can Vanderbilt athletes play for MTSU sports just for the hell of it?

On such grounds, then anyone born to an alien parent in the US can become president.

By: Loner on 12/6/12 at 7:25

Parnell, drink your coffee and get to work...pay your taxes, so that I can live comfortably in my Golden Years...I appreciate it....have a good day.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 7:29

Rasputin' s actions is his genetic inferior genes and his inability to connect to humans. As a child he was never bonded with his parents. He was a mistake in the first place and past from one relative to another. Much like he lives now.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 7:31

Leave me out of your fantasies, parnell, you sick bastard.

Yogi's Xmas recipe: mix hyperbole, innuendo, rumors, speculation and conspiracies, add one cup of nuts, bake for 20 minutes, serve with a side of denial.

Enjoy!

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 7:33

There were Loner, but it is the photographed that is getting the attention.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/6/12 at 7:33

LOL - good morning, folks.

I saw this posted in reddit. I don't understand how someone could not only not help but take a picture! That is a sociopath.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 7:36

LOL gdia

By: Loner on 12/6/12 at 7:40

When you work for a sleazy paper, you look for sleaze to photograph....the guy hit pay-dirt....they call it, "journalistic capitalism"....FOX News is a leader in the field; they'll probably hire that Post photojournalist....he's now got a hot resume.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 7:44

Well Fox is surely the leader in entertainment journalism, I'd be hard pressed to find a news outlet that wouldn't show photos or video of something like that. It's not really about good taste or ethical behavior, it's about ratings.

All in all, it's just another brick in the wall of compromise. As a society, we've compromised compassion for monetary gain. Yay us.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 7:45

I was an emotional slob at my daughter graduation and the only way I could get through her graduation was to look through the lens of the camera. I don't know what was going on with the photographers mind at the time, but I know from experience that when taking pictures you can lose yourself in the moment.

By: yogiman on 12/6/12 at 7:48

gdiafante,

Did I misinterpret Section 1401 of code 1408 where it stipulated the mother must be 19 years old when she gave birth? Barry's mother was only 18-1/2. Was he an exception?

According to our laws, under those laws, she had to be 19 years old for him to be registered as a "natural born citizen". So what makes Barry Soetoro aka Barack Obama a natural born citizen?

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 7:53

The pictures I scene have been on TV and it was a single shot of the man trying to get to get back on the plat form. There has been no others of this, I've seen.

I have seen videos of a young girl being run down by a car that never stop. The little girl lived, no thinks to the driver.

By: Loner on 12/6/12 at 7:57

Subject Change Alert:
Here's an interesting CBS article and video that caught my eye:

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505266_162-57557466/marijuana-legalized-in-wash.-seattle-celebrates/

We shall see if Obama cracks down on Washington and Colorado for passing Cannabis legalization legislation...Cannabis is still illegal in the USA, due to a nation-wide federal prohibition of the much-maligned herb.

Obama should abolish the federal Cannabis prohibition, by Presidential fiat (Executive Order)...let the states decide...it's a states rights issue, if there ever was one.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 7:58

Mean while back at the funny farm, not knowing that yogi had disguised himself as a pool table, bud raked his balls.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 8:01

It's 8 USC § 1401, not 1408. And read (A). That's the only one that applies to Obama.

By: Loner on 12/6/12 at 8:05

Those who suffer from chronic Usurperitis are known to off-gas a putrid type of brain flatulence that can clear a room....Yogi's 7:48 brain fart is an excellent example....it's an unholy odor....like that of a dead horse.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 8:07

Too many letters and numbers for a feeble mind, gdia. He will never understand.

By: parnell3rd on 12/6/12 at 8:09

The 1st Grand Wizard of the KKK was honored at the DEMOCRATIC national convention in 1868.
No Democrat voted for the 14th amendment to grant citizenship to former slaves.
And to this day the Democratic party ignores 144 years of Racism in their party.
Aren't you proud of your DemoNcratic heritage?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/6/12 at 8:11

Parnell's lack of history knowledge is showing!!!!

By: parnell3rd on 12/6/12 at 8:13

Hey Loner, I guess you have not figured it out yet. Obama only cracks down on people he does not like.
In 2010 he flew over Tennessee on the way to the oil spill in the gulf, while we had a flood. In 2009 he denied the State of Texas FEMA aide for wild fires.
And the woman he promised to cut through the red tape after Hurricane Sandy has not recieved any aide.
This is our federal gov't in action.

By: bfra on 12/6/12 at 8:13

p3 must be wired into the same trash, rumor, undocumented sites as yogi.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 8:14

In 2012 the KKK has taken over the Republican Party.

By: parnell3rd on 12/6/12 at 8:16

Funny a comment like that comming from some one with NAZI in your screen name!
Your kind knows all about propaganda.
It is a well known fact the KKK was started by Democrates. Even Bill Clinton in a euolgy for a west Va. Senator Byrd acknowleged that the Sen. was in the KKK.
So nazi get your facts i mean lies straight!

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 8:17

Back at the funny farm p3 did not know the balls on the pool table he was playing with was yogi's

By: parnell3rd on 12/6/12 at 8:17

Yea bfra and Capt Nemo your both wrong. You both like to rewrite history the way you President Huseine likes to do it!

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/6/12 at 8:17

The early Democratic party was associated with the KKK. However, the early Democratic party was also associated mostly with conservative causes. This changed late in the 20th century when the Democrats espoused liberal values. This change in values also occurred in the Republican party, hence the early Republicans' support of progressive and arguably liberal causes like emancipation and civil rights for African Americans. In short, the Democratic party during the heyday of the KKK bears little resemblance to today's Democratic party.

By: parnell3rd on 12/6/12 at 8:18

Is that all you got capt nimbnuts? because as soon as the truth is out you libtards start with the name calling.

By: parnell3rd on 12/6/12 at 8:19

or is it capt numbnuts?

By: yogiman on 12/6/12 at 8:19

Regardless of that law, or any other, gdiafante, how did Obama "re-become" a natural born citizen after he became an Indonesian citizen? You don't even know if he's an Indonesian citizen or a naturalized American citizen, do you? If he did become a naturalized citizen, he sure as hell isn't eligible for that office as a natural born citizen

Tell me, would you be willing to spend a pocket full of money to hide your presidential eligibility if you was running for that office? Haven't you even wondered why he refuses to offer absolute evidence?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/6/12 at 8:19

Seems like you are the one doing most of the name calling, parnell.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 8:20

Great come back p3. In time you could be yogi's stand by.

By: bfra on 12/6/12 at 8:20

Oh no Blanket! You bursted p2's bubble.

By: bfra on 12/6/12 at 8:21

Oh well, should be p3, but it really doesn't matter.
