Up for Debate: Subway death photos

Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 1:10am

A New York Post photographer and the paper itself are being criticized for running a photo of the man killed by a New York subway train, showing him trapped in the path of the train just moments before he died. There are also photos of the man on the platform with the man he was arguing with before that man pushed him into the path of the train. What is your reaction to the publication of the photos? What are the reasons to publish or not publish them? Do you blame the photographers?

bfra, not only do I have facts, I have them straight! LOL

By: Loner on 12/6/12 at 9:24

Parnell has been listening to Limbaugh and FOX again....true, the Democrats were the party of white supremacy before and after the American Civil War. Jim Crow, the KKK, the lynch mobs, the tar & featherings were all the handiwork of Southern Democrats...no doubt about it.

The other half of the half-truth is that LBJ's signing of the Civil Rights Act caused major turmoil in the Democratic Party...Tricky Dick Nixon exploited the Southern Discomfort in the 1968 election....he appealed to the Southern bigots and won them over to the GOP.

Nixon cracked the Solid South....actually he flipped the Solid South...from solidly Democratic to solidly Republican....tolerant, secular Republicans fled the hijacked party...many Northern and secular Republicans slowly drifted over to the Democratic side, or became Libertarians.

The Party of Lincoln is now the party of white supremacy...the Party of Jeff Davis is now the party of human & civil rights....the grand switcheroo has been accomplished....Parnell did not get the memo.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 9:24

Is p3 straight....about facts?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/6/12 at 9:25

That is true, Loner. That also explains why MLK was a Republican.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 9:27

Is that all you got capt nimbnuts? because as soon as the truth is out you libtards start with the name calling.

Pot, meet kettle. And there's no doubt the irony is completely lost on him.

He sounds like a child that didn't get his way, now he's lashing out. He needs a time out.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 9:27

When faced with knowledge the p3 has little understanding.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/6/12 at 9:28

Well.....wouldn't you know. There was a youtube video that came out on 11/29/12 spreading this half truth around. That's probably where parnell got his info. Heaven forbid he actually learned anything in a history class.

By: Loner on 12/6/12 at 9:29

The half-truth is a very effective tool in the propagandist's tool box...the pros use it everyday...the half-truth is to the Bullshit artist as the hammer is to the carpenter....standard equipment.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/6/12 at 9:30

You know, anytime one of these trolls show up and start harping on something you can immediately connect the dots to a newly released article or youtube from some wingnut.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/6/12 at 9:30

They're like a bunch of squawking parrots.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 9:30

That's a common misperception, blanket. When I went to see Lincoln, there were several in there making audible comments about how the Dems haven't changed since then. They really believe that both parties have been static for 150 years...

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/6/12 at 9:31

Talk about a complete lack of knowledge, g!

By: Loner on 12/6/12 at 9:32

Willful ignorance is more like it.

By: yogiman on 12/6/12 at 9:33

Also, parnell3rd, wasn't the Republican party founded to end the slavery? Seems I read that somewhere in history.

Yet, what was that comment LBJ made when he signed that 1965 anti-segregation bill? Wasn't it; "we'll have their votes for the next 200 years"?

They've still got them along with their fellow posters on this site.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/6/12 at 9:34

You are correct, Loner. That's more like it.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 9:37

Ignorance is bliss and p3 is dancing in a field of blooming Rush bots.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 9:38

That true yogi and now they are trying to bring slavery back.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/6/12 at 9:39

Legend has it that, as he put down his pen, Johnson told an aide, "We have lost the South for a generation", anticipating a coming backlash from Southern whites against Johnson's Democratic Party. Moreover, Richard Nixon politically counterattacked with the Southern Strategy where it would "secure" votes for the Republican Party by grabbing the advocates of segregation as well as most of the Southern Democrats.[

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 9:39

Don't change the subject, yogi. Did you read the correct law?

By: yogiman on 12/6/12 at 9:41

Correct me if I'm wrong again, gdiafante. I read the (a) section of 8 USC 1401 as "natural" citizen, not [natural born citizen].

Again, when was the Constitution definition re-determined?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/6/12 at 9:42

By: yogiman on 12/6/12 at 8:41

Correct me if I'm wrong again, gdiafante

Well, that about says it all.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 9:44

We shouldn't act as if one or either party had some noble ideology. Both, at one time, didn't believe that women should vote; even the abolitionists didn't believe in negro suffrage; both were dominated by white supremacists...let's not raise the flag and sing "America the Beautiful" in honor of the illustrious past of our beloved parties...talk about living in a fog...

By: yogiman on 12/6/12 at 9:46

Well, Loner, me boy, how do you know what Limbaugh and Fox are saying if you resent listening to them? Just wondering. Are their voices sneaking into the back of your head. Or maybe in your left ear, perhaps?

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 9:46

Forgetting that he had disguised himself as a pool table, yogi cued his balls. What an idiot.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 9:46

Yogi, that defines citizens who are nationals and citizens at birth...what the **** do you think that means? Jeez...

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 9:49

I told you gdia, that it was too many numbers a letters for yogi to understand.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 9:49

Again, the Constitution doesn't define the term, the USC does. My god he is dumb. It's like going in circles with the kid from Deliverance.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/6/12 at 9:50

I think the kid from Deliverance has one up on yogi.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 9:52

That kid wax smart enough to play the banjo. yogi can pick his nose.

By: Loner on 12/6/12 at 9:52

The black vote also flipped over, from GOP to Democratic...that was not an offsetting demographic factor in 1968; today, that's not the case...the black vote is an important demographic as these past few elections have shown.

The Grand Switcheroo also resulted in the Jewish demographic shift, from GOP to Democratic. Although only 2% of the US population, this demographic wields great power in the US federal government....check it out:

And this:

And this:

http://www.jinsa.org/

And this:

http://www.aipac.org/

And this:

http://www.conferenceofpresidents.org/

And this:

http://www.zoa.org/

I could go on....but that partial list should suffice to make my point about the political power of the American Jewish demographic....that's the "I" in the DIE acronym that I use to describe the war super-lobby: DIE...Defense, Israel, Energy....their selfish interests overlap in the ME....even the POTUS is powerless to resist that lobby.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 9:53

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 9:58

Please Mr. Loner no beat the old man. lol

By: Loner on 12/6/12 at 10:04

You're right, Cap'n....you can throw credible, authenticated, substantive links at them, but they won't bother to check them out...willful ignorance prevents them from opening their minds to alternative or novel ideas...but I throw out the links anyway...it's good training and good mental exercise for myself....at my age, one needs to keep exercising their cognitive skills...or they could atrophy....this board is therapeutic for me.

By: yogiman on 12/6/12 at 10:07

I'll repeat, gdiafante, how could Obama become a natural born citizen again after he became an Indonesian citizen. You're only born one time, you know.

And I'll also ask again: How in the hell do you know who that man is?

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 10:08

I do the same, Loner. I just love to show them to be fools. It's fun.

And, though somewhat predictable, it is entertaining to see them sidestep the facts, ignore what's right in front of them or change the subject hoping no one notices. Kind of like yogi's 8:59 post...lol

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/6/12 at 10:09

g, didn't you answer yogi's 9:07 post the other day?

By: yogiman on 12/6/12 at 10:10

A true certificate, or a fake?

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 10:17

You're wrong again, yogi:

The newest falsehood goes like this: Obama was legally adopted by his stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, and thus lost his American citizenship in favor of Indonesian citizenship. Sorry, that’s bogus, too. Because Obama was born in the U.S., he could not lose his citizenship as a child. It could be revoked only if he became a citizen of another country as an adult, and if that country didn’t permit dual citizenship. A glance at the relevant statute shows that all the conditions for loss of nationality are reserved for people over 18 — except for treason, fighting for a hostile army and formal renunciation of citizenship, all of which Obama was a bit young for at age 6. In two of those cases, his citizenship still would have been safe as long as he affirmed it when he turned 18. (Loss of citizenship for treason has no exemptions.)

So, what else have you got? Bring it on.

By: Loner on 12/6/12 at 10:18

OMG...a grammatical altercation in Coonskin Cap Country....let's review the basics:

Let us conjugate the English language verb, "to be", in the imperfect (past) tense:

Singular:
I was...
You were...
He, she or it was...

Plural:
We were...
You were...
They were...

The English language is flawed in that there is no spelled or inflected (pronunciation) difference between the singular and plural forms of the second person (you). It's, "you were" for both singular and plural usage...."you was" is simply incorrect...as incorrect as the slang term, "yous", to describe more than one "you".

There, that should settle the controversy in Tennessee.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 10:19

I've answered it about 15 times before, blanket. And I'll keep putting him in his place as long as he keeps denying reality.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/6/12 at 10:21

That old man is SUCH a dumba$$.

By: yogiman on 12/6/12 at 10:22

B2,

How can you know who someone is if they won't identify themselves? Just look at them?

And you're smart on this machine, please check out how much of our money Obama is giving to his native country; Kenya?

And is and is his 'presidential' library being built in Kenya or Chicago?

By: yogiman on 12/6/12 at 10:23

Sorry, too many "and ises".

By: bfra on 12/6/12 at 10:24

Double ditto on that Blanket!

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 10:25

Yogi, I've already addressed the following with sources:

1. Obama's birth certificate (long and short form) was a fake. FALSE. (snopes, factcheck.org)

2. Obama was born in Kenya. FALSE (snopes, factcheck.org)

3. He held dual citizenship. FALSE (factcheck.org)

4. The Constitution defines "Natural Born Citizen". FALSE (The Constitution)

5. Parentage is an issue for someone born within the U.S. FALSE (USC 8, 1401)

What else is there?

By: bfra on 12/6/12 at 10:25

yogi is too dumb to communicate with other human beings.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 12/6/12 at 10:25

yogi, just because you can't accept his identity doesn't mean he hasn't identified himself. And he can't just write checks to Kenya - Congress has to approve expenditures. How dumb are you, seriously?

By: Loner on 12/6/12 at 10:26

Last night, after the board died off...I asked this question:

By: Loner on 12/5/12 at 7:21

One wonders... would Yogi have been able to kick the birther habit, if Romney had won the election. Something tells me that Yogi would still expound on how and why BHO was never eligible to be POTUS....it's all he can think about....what a miserable existence....he's nuts....mean & hateful nuts....what a terrible way to spend one's "Golden Years".....bitter, frustrated, angry & bat-shit crazy.

Any speculation or comment on that?

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/12 at 10:27

yogi we are really over rating you when we call you a fool, idiot, moron. You are so far below these standards of intelligent, that are no names that would apply. Hang in there. Someday they may gave a name for such substandard IQ.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/12 at 10:28

Blanket, yogi knows or understands little of the Constitution. He, like many others, think that if the President waves a magic wand, the money is spent.
