What do you think should happen in Egypt regarding the current standoff between President Morsi (Morsy) and the country's military? Should Morsi call elections? Should the military back down?

bfra, they're probably scared of getting deported. Wouldn't you be? If you were raised as an American and have no ties culturally or otherwise and if you come forward you run the risk of being deported? That's what this bill is trying to solve.

Blanket - I do wonder about the ones, even if brought here illegally as young children, that are old enough now to be out of school & have made no effort to become a legal citizen. It kinda goes against wanting to be here to better themselves & because they love this Country so much.

Their kids do not respect what they have been given -- and I mean "given" cause no one is working for it.

Blanket, if I stole 1 million from a bank and got away with it, then somewhere down the road, I died and left it to my children, is it theirs? Well, probably not if someone proved it was stolen money to begin with. I do not feel an obligation to someone's child who brought them here illegally. The parent should suffer the consequences of their behavior and if that means they take their children "home" and start the legal process, then so be it.

There are rules in life; there are those who follow the rules and life goes on -- smoothly and without major glitches - most of the time. Then there are those who have no regard for the rules and life for them is chaotic almost all the time.

Yeah the illegals who live under the radar seemingly have a good life. BUT I can assure you, they are stressed out and afraid all the time. BUT I still would not reward their bad behavior with a free pass to citizenship. And how many of them will be able to afford a fine? Oh, it will probably be a $5 fine! Yeah, that's dooable.

Does anyone else think it's ironic that North Carolina's new draconian anti-abortion laws were snuck in on the back of an anti-sharia law; a form of law that would surely ban abortions? Think about it...... they are essentially banning a form of law that does exactly what they're doing.

bud, that's making a whole lot of assumptions about people you don't know. And it's not rewarding bad behavior - they were children and had no say in the matter. We also do not have the money and infrastructure to remove everyone. So you're cutting off your nose to spite your face because it's not "right" in your eyes. Not everything in life is "right."

The Egyptian Army is the 2000 pound gorilla in that country. Their military and the
US Military are pretty closely in contact and listen to each other. Of course, our
3 billion dollar a year to Egypt for Military purpose influences all that greatly. We
thought the people were smart enough when they got their election, but that hasn't
worked very well first time out, maybe next time will get better for all concerned.

If there's 11 million illegal aliens (as they claim) here, why should we have to pay them to go home? Would you pay even your friends to go home after visiting you?

If our government went by the laws on the books those people would head for the border as fast as they could get there when they are "put on the line". But why go if they can get American welfare handouts?

I'll admit, I feel sorry for the children; but it's their parents fault, not ours. And I'm sure they would learn how to live in their native country as easy as they were learning how to live in the USA.

There are legal ways to come to the USA and many people are spending millions of dollars and taking the necessary time (often years) to come here. No illegal alien should be accepted.

I'll admit, that's my way of thinking. If you're in favor illegal aliens coming here illegally, maybe you should open your door and invite them in.

Problems that arise when blanket deportation is attempted

It's fair to assume that industries that are largely dependent on the hard work of illegal immigrants would collapse, or at least suffer a major setback.

The cost of the program would be massive; law enforcement would need a huge amount of extra resources and manpower to put deportation into practice, and the courts (y'know, due process and all that) would also have a shortage of money and labor.

Many children of immigrants are natural-born US citizens. Hence, blanket deportation of illegal immigrants would necessarily entail expelling many US citizens as well.

I would hardly think that Reagan or anyone else is implying the illegals when the say the "doors were open to anyone with the will and the heart to get here". Criminals have the will and the heart, but do you want them next door to you Blanket?

Being vetted for citizenship is just a no-brainer. You have to get vetted to have a job; to go to college; to get a hair dresser license; a barber license, etc. So why are you all so opposed to vetting prospective citizens.

Are you even aware that nail techs, hair dressers and massage therapists have to have a criminal background check? What about day care?

What if someone was a pedophile in their country and got here illegally and allowed to stay? How's that background check going to work? It won't.

I just say Let everyone be equal and do the same things when it comes to citizenship. No exceptions, unless they are truly persecuted for political or religious reasons.
