They will try to do as little as possible because it's an election year and they hope the electorate is stupid enough to forget the bad things they did last year.
Expect next year to be another session in which they try to destroy the liberties of citizens and shovel more money to their corporate owners.

The one thing they will NOT do is what they promised: "laser-like focus on jobs."

Wake up NCP! The featured story on Whole Foods has a bad link and the story can't be found.

By: dargent7 on 1/2/12 at 6:48

Read about the Titans. A losing record by not making the playoffs and everyone's happy with their performance.
I think "CJ" with 4 yds. a carry, game after game, should return half of that $53. million.

By: govskeptic on 1/2/12 at 6:59

First, Speaker Harwell and the assembly should do nothing about
changing the needed voter ID Law that has gone into affect nor the
E-verify requirements for employers! Skip anything on gun laws,
tread very carefully on the drug test being discussed, consider and
pass a balanced budget, and go home "very" early!

By: treehugger7 on 1/2/12 at 7:35

Maybe they could just stay home! That would help the state more than anything.

What are your expectations for the next General Assembly? Will legislators accomplish much or keep it vanilla, playing it safe?

Keeping it "vanilla" could have racial overtones in TN, no?

I suspect they'll throw some sprinkles on the vanilla and try to call that innovation.

There will be a lot of fund-raising activity, speech-making and pandering ...some grandstanding...some scandals...pretty much business as usual, IMO.

By: yogiman on 1/2/12 at 12:28

Well, Loner,

A new year has come to be and I hope you have a great new year. Today is the oldest you've ever been, yet the youngest you'll ever be. So enjoy this day while it lasts because we're back in the "who's legal, and who's not" debate.

I thought I had offered enough facts on the "argument" but y'all don't seem to be able to understand our Constitution. There has been comments about "Congress has changed the Constitution". Congress cannot change the Constitution. If they could, what would we need with it? They would have us under more of the absolute control they are pushing for now.

Congress can only submit a motion for an amendment. The citizens must decide if they want it changed.

And the Constitution "says" one elected to the office of President, or Vice-President, must be natural born citizens. Barry Soetoro is not and cannot be a natural born citizen with a Kenyan father

So, the reasons why Barry Soetoro usurped the office:

Number 1. Post American Presidency.

With his globalist worldview and "blame America first" perspective, "Barack Obama" is ushering in a new "post-American" era in international relations that is diminishing our standing in the world.

By: pswindle on 1/2/12 at 2:05

They will not be able to get away with what they did to the people of TN this past session. They have awaken the people and we will not allow this take over to continue. When does Ron leave office and take his Tea Party idiots with him?

By: dargent7 on 1/2/12 at 3:08

@ 12:28pm. I'm personally drawing up the Articles of Impeachment to ban this imbicile, either with one half a brain, 3/4th, 2/3rds, whatever, from posting on this board.
Whether Obama's father was dead, kenyan, Indonesian, is of no consequence.
His Mommy bore him on American soil, in Honolulu, on Aug. 4, 1961.
Hawai'i became a State in 1958.
Yes, pin-head, it was a close call, but the law is the law.
Romney's father was born in Mexico and Gingrich's is unknown. Research where McPherson came from.
Why not masturbate over all their implications? Oh, I see, they're "white" people.

By: bfra on 1/2/12 at 3:27

d7 - I agree, this kook ruins every topic on the board! He latches on to any gossip, rumor or (I think) some he has just made up & dittos it under every discussion.

By: dargent7 on 1/2/12 at 4:12

I remember the old days when we'd have 400+ posts. Since yogis advent, it's down to 10 or 12 a day.
Even child molesters on Death Row won't post here.

By: yogiman on 1/2/12 at 6:11

dargent7,

I'll be glad to see you in court. But be prepared to wind up in the insanity ward.

You say "His" mommy bore in in Hawaii. Okay, prove it. Now let me ask, where did he get his family name? From an alien. And I agree; the law is the law. Let's abide by it.

You can only think what you want to think but don't seem to have the intelligence to look into it.

If you had just a little bit of intelligence you would know Romney's father was an American citizen born to two American citizens living in Mexic at the time of his birth. Mitt Romney was born in the USA to two American citizens.

Go back to school, dargent7.

As with Gingrich, I know nothing about him except what has been noted about his adoptions. If you question his legal eligibility, contact your representative and ask them to check him out.

I think you should masturbate. It may help you learn what "pleasure" is all about. Have fun at it.

By: dargent7 on 1/3/12 at 4:33

"You say his Mommy bore him in Honolulu on Aug. 4, 1961...prove it..."
Besides his Birth Cert. and birth announcement in the Honolulu Advertiser, and the hospital verifying the record, what group of nit-wits you a joined to overrule that evidence?
"Mitt Romney was born in the USA..."
So, Detroit is the "USA" and Honolulu isn't?
Why not pick up the gauntlet and champion the cause to "research" Gingrich's daddy?
He took his mother's second husband's last name, changing his from McPerson. Why?
Sounds eerily suspicious.
Isn't that what you harp on all the time about Obama? Took his step dad's name?
Your argument is 100% b.s., everyone on this board knows it, and we're all tired of it.

Tues.
Loner: What do you think of Nashville changing the symbol dropped to an "Eighth Note"?

By: Loner on 1/3/12 at 5:34

Good morning, Nashville.

Don't know about any logo change, Darge...please explain.

I was hoping that they would have a new "up for debate" board up....maybe later?

I see where Obama signed new petroleum sanctions on Iran last Saturday...as directed by our Israeli overlords....now, the Iranians are threatening a US carrier in the area. Maybe Obama is going to rip a page out of Bush's playbook and go to war between now and election day. It's an old trick that works every time.

That Nobel Peace Prize is looking pretty ludicrous....Obama will do ANYTHING to get re-elected.....ANYTHING.

Never mind the fact that Iraq is descending into renewed civil war and Afghanistan is still a basket case...the Israelis are pushing us into another war at their behest....they have a lot of work for Uncle Sam to do and they are growing impatient at the slow pace of US compliance....Obama is shifting into high gear, trying to ingratiate himself with the Israelis and their legions of supporters in this country. He is scared sh*tless of losing Israeli support.

Ron Paul is the only candidate out there with any caljones.....he doesn't have a snowball's chance of getting in...they'd murder him before he could take the oath.

By: dargent7 on 1/3/12 at 5:43

L'ner: Happy New Year...this year, Nashville dropped an "Eighth Note", replacing the Gibson guitar. Thing got stuck, half way down.

By: dargent7 on 1/3/12 at 5:46

re: Ron Paul...he's too old to be President. 76 is TOO OLD.
He gave accolades to David Duke, Grand Imperial Wizard of the KKK.
Wants to legalize prostitution.
His war policy is ok, but he's unelectable.

By: Loner on 1/3/12 at 6:24

I see...they should have used an eighth rest symbol? Gibson, the environmental scofflaws and scab labor guitar-makers lost the rights to the symbol? Is this a political fallout thing?

Paul looks good for 76, IMO. Please cite where he gave accolades to David Duke.

Legalizing prostitution is not a bad idea....the only legal prostitutes working right now are the politicians...this must be a professional courtesy move.

Paul would let the states decide on Cannabis...I like that idea.

Paul would tell the Israelis who's the boss and who's the vassal....I like that idea too.

If enough people think that Paul cannot be elected, then he can't be elected...if enough think he can, he can. The media is trying to make us think that Paul is unelectable....and a KKK supporting, Jew-hating, old codger.....with a screw loose.

By: Loner on 1/3/12 at 6:39

Happy New Year to you, Darge. This could be a very big year, from several perspectives. I smell war brewing.

Do the new Gibson Guitars come with a box of tea?

They should come out with a new model called the Gibson "Bagger". Made from endangered rain forest wood, elephant ivory and blue whale bone....stained with Siberian Tiger blood and rubbed to a high gloss using baby Harp seal fur, in a Mexican sweat shop...comes with an alligator-hide-covered hard case....each one signed by Todd Rundgren.

By: Loner on 1/3/12 at 6:58

If the Iranians are stupid enough to attack a US aircraft carrier, they will, in effect assure our president's re-election...provided that Obama responds with enough force to satisfy the War Super-Lobby. If Obama whips some Iranian @ss, even Ben Dover will applaud the guy...the Republican POTUS candidates would be caught slack-jawed and flat-footed.

The Iranian Navy is not the primary source of danger for our ships in the Persian Gulf...shore-based mobile missile launchers and hardened, missile-launching bunkers ashore present a greater threat.

Of course, the Persians may already have a nuke or two stashed or pre-positioned...and the Chinese may decide to step in to save Iran's @ss; they got lots of nukes and they know how to use them. The whole thing could go berserkers quickly....if struck by Iran, Israel might nuke Tehran....who knows, this could be the last year for humanity as we know it.

I there's no Washington, DC...the elections will be rather sketchy....the states may run for the exits...Texas leading the stampede. The union could unravel overnight.

By: yogiman on 1/3/12 at 7:51

dargent7,

Its a shame you and many of your fellow posters on this site can't see beyond your noses. You claim Obama showed his birth certificate. I hate to tell you, but no, he didn't. After years of claiming the state government would not allow him to show his birth certificate he finally showed one? Where did he get it? The paper he "presented" was not a birth certificate. It was a layered document produced through a computer, not an official birth certificate.

The hospital mentioned as his birth place did not exist at the time of his birth. It became that name later when the two hospitals in Hawaii combined and became that name. He supposedly was born in the same hospital where two twin girls were born, the day after him. Can you explain why the number on his "birth certificate" was a higher number than theirs? Can you explain why the E-verify will not accept his Social Security number?

You mentioned the birth notices the papers of Hawaii announcing his birth. The address shown was his grandparents' address. His "parents" showed two different addresses at that time.

dargent7, the fact that congress, the courts and media all enabled him to usurp that office should scare the hell out of you. That is, unless you are a communist by heart.

PS: You might want to check out the bill he just signed after a large approval by congress; S-1867. Just for the hell of it, read sections 1031 and 1032. That bill showed a 93-7 approval by the Senate, and I read it was 85% of the House.

By: yogiman on 1/3/12 at 8:00

"Obama"'s goal #2: Tax Increases For All.

Despite election promises to the contrary, "President Obama" is raising your taxes. It's simple math. But it's more that math. It's "Obama"'s philosophical goal and a key component in his re-making of America.

Remember him saying he was going to "re-make" America?

Stand by. You're getting it re-made.

By: Loner on 1/3/12 at 8:12

The troll is howling at the moon early this frosty morning.

We need a new board, this one is getting stale?

We demand our bread & circus!

By: yogiman on 1/3/12 at 8:44

Loner,

I hate to say this, but you and your co-posters arguing as you are about this "Obama" matter shows you ignorance of the Constitution and the laws of out nation.

You put this in a racial matter and can't see beyond your nose. I wonder how you would think if "Obama" was considered the 44th white president. I bet you would want him to be in there legally.

By: yogiman on 1/3/12 at 8:47

Sorry,

s/h/b "your" ignorance... and "our" nation.

By: BenDover on 1/3/12 at 9:17

Damn Yogi... I just can't even stand it anymore. Everyone knows you think Obama is an imposter. I don't disagree he's got a sketchy past but it's his past and it's going to stay there. Please stop stinking up the place with all this birther crap. There are sites all over the web dedicated to that stuff where you can howl about this 'til your heart is content.

I just hate putting cogent and relative comments to the topic at hand only to see it shat all over and buried every day by unrelated birther BS.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/3/12 at 9:49

Good morning people.

My expectation for the General Assembly is not to make all the trivial laws they did last year and get down to business.

By: yogiman on 1/3/12 at 11:18

BenDover,

I don't THINK Obama is an imposter, I KNOW it. I'm, in fact, flabbergasted anyone can accept him into the highest office of our nation without question and not knowing who in the hell he is.

Aren't you even curious?

This is going to be the most political year of our lives, including y'all's. You all want the chit chat site back, so you can have it. I'm convinced you are so willing to accept a communist leader in our nation.

I realize there are idiots you can't teach so I'll quit trying, but I'm going to show the main 21 ways he is reshaping his nation (it used to be ours). It used to be our nation.

Have fun with your chit-charts, but I'd advise you to check out that S-1867 bill he just signed. The government has quit being our servants and became our masters officially.

By: Loner on 1/3/12 at 12:18

I agree, Ben, the birther-obsessed troll droppings degrade and foul the atmosphere of the forum, IMO....there's free speech and then there's irritating noise-making....some have left the site because of it...to show solidarity with them, I'm off this board for the rest of the day.

Loner out.

By: pswindle on 1/3/12 at 12:48

McCain was born in Panama. Why is this not an issue? The law says if one or both of your parents are legal citizens of the US, (President Obama's Mother) is a legal citizen Then, her child is also a legal citizen regardliess where he was born.. I'm so tired of this broken record. With the GOP looking into his background with a fine tooth comb, if there was sometning there, they wold have found it.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/3/12 at 1:32

Ben, what do you mean? You have to state what you mean in clear details or he will just twist it into what he thinks he wants it to be.

By conversing with yogi, all we are doing is feeding his dysfunction behavior. I am with Loner on this and pswindle I hope you do the same. Enough is enough.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/3/12 at 1:37

I'm off the board for the day in protest too.

By: bfra on 1/3/12 at 1:43

Enough has been enough of his babble for mos.. I'll join that protest!

By: dargent7 on 1/3/12 at 1:56

McCain was actually born in the Panama Canal Zone. On Aug 29, 1936 at the Coco Solo Naval Air Station. During wartime, that counts as an American citizen.
What war we were in is a mystery to me. Still WW I?
In any event, nut -cases who are sure Obama was born in Kenya to two black parents stink the board up.
They "think" the Hospital, newspaper, County Records are all colluding to make Obama's birth a falsehood.
Yet, these same believe Iraq was invaded, bombed, and occupied to "keep America free".
As if Cheney, Rove, Rice, Tenet, Rummy weren't smart enough to know it was a scam.
The only dummy in the equation was GW Bush, himself.
His stupidity cost 6,100 lives and over $1.trillion dollars....for ZIP.
I really hope 40 years down the road it IS proven Obama was born in Indonesia, wasn't a legal President, and it was a grand conspiracy. As was 9/11 an inside job.

By: BenDover on 1/3/12 at 1:56

If I read that correctly, yogi's going to stick to the topic at hand from now on or not comment at all. I don't want to speak for the others but I'd sure welcome that yogi. We've got a lot in common, I think, and it will be nice to get beyond just that one topic.

Thank you.

By: dargent7 on 1/3/12 at 2:03

Actually I'm thinking of running for President. My Birth records show I was born in Detroit, but my Father was born in Montreal, Canada. Also, the Hospital I was born in was burned down in the '67 riots.
The whole thing looks and sounds suspicious.
But, because I'm caucasian, White, I'll get a "pass" from the "Birthers".
That's all it really boils down to.

By: dargent7 on 1/3/12 at 2:06

BenD: Don't sell yourself short. At 24, I had a lot in common with Charles Manson...followed The Beatles, liked young girls in groups, liked adulation, let others' do my dirty work, was a team leader.
"yogi" is just plain nutz.

By: brrrrk on 1/3/12 at 4:54

When ACORN did it, it was "voter fraud" (even though it was ACORN who caught the problems).... but when someone from the GOP does it, it's "just a mistake"........
