Up for Debate: The 'White Paper'

Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 12:32am

What is your reaction to the release of the Department of Justice memo, referred to as the "white paper" and obtained by NBC News, that reveals the U.S. government policy of ordering the killing of American citizens believed to be Al Qaeda leaders?

This is a very difficult subject even for the intelligent and objective class. I think however that this forum will have a problem. 40 percent (6) of the make up thinks "white paper" comes on a roll.

This paper and a few other Court rulings on this and similar matters should come
as no surprise to anyone. While the 3 or 4 Americans killed abroad by drones
thus far doesn't hurt most folks feelings, the stretching of this policy and far too
many others under the continuing Bush Policies of "Homeland Protection Act"
is becoming more scary day by day. Of course, these type policies and Court
ruling started under the foolish and long going "War on Drugs" to the point
the Police State against our own citizens has cost the loss of many many rights
under the Constitution. We_The_People are apparently the big problem.

But Raspy is different, he KNOWS it comes on a "stick" or a "cob"!

By: yogiman on 2/6/13 at 6:52

It's no big deal that the government you elected to serve you can order you killed. Let's move on up to the next problem like: Who is that man sitting in our President's chair?

Does anyone know his identity?

Enough sane voters to elect him for the 2nd term! That's all that counts. Insane nuts, like yourself, don't count.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/6/13 at 7:46

If Americans are working to kill other Americans and the government kills these people, I see it as self-defense.

By: Rasputin72 on 2/6/13 at 7:53

Bfra........I doubt that sane is the correct term but certainly enough people whose only chance at a decent standard of living is the lottery or government support.

In any case 51.6% of Americans in 2012 voted for their personal best interest. In 2016 it will be roughly 53% and 2020 roughly 55% and 2024 59%. It is the era of diversity and squalor and not caring whether or not the earth is round or flat for the majority class.

In the meantime there will always be those who find a way to separate themselves from the average American and the underclass. The percentage will be getting smaller and their taxes will become onerous but somehow they will prosper and live the good life.

By: Rasputin72 on 2/6/13 at 7:56

NEMO.........I never thought you capable of even a one liner statement of intellectual thought.

I was wrong (at least today) No post on this board for the rest of the day will define the subject any better or more concisely than your 7:46.

Congratulations on thinking one through for a change.

By: slacker on 2/6/13 at 7:57

Personally, I like Obama's use of Drone technology, much better than boots on the ground.
Killing traitorous Americans, who are conspiring against the U.S. is a good thing.
Americans abroad, that are not hanging out with Al Qaeda members are likely in no danger
I wish they would send a Drone by Jane Fonda digs.

By: bfra on 2/6/13 at 7:58

And, that makes you so green with envy, you just can't get it off your mind. No wonder you fantasy about what other, more prosperous people have.

It amazes me that six people who could not collectively come up with 200,000 dollars post.opinions as though they have a resume of success

No wonder the 1% has put so much distance between themselves and the 47%.

What I fine amazing is about this drool that comes from someone that has no idea what any of the others make and yet he has never earned an honest dollar in its life. You seem to forget I know who and what you are old boy. It must be that you’re mentally equivalent to yogi, which makes you forget your place on the low run of the ladder.

By: Rasputin72 on 2/6/13 at 8:01

Bfra.......Yes indeed brfa......."Green with envy" came very quickly to your mind I am sure.

By: bfra on 2/6/13 at 8:03

Nemo - From Raspy's comments, I doubt if he has even had 200,000 in his entire life time.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/6/13 at 8:05

5. Narcissism is just physical vanity. Physical vanity is a correlate of narcissism, but there are plenty of other [aspects of narcissism], including materialism, entitlement, antisocial behavior, and problems in relationships.

By the post you spew here Raspy old boy you have not changed at all, except you’ve gotten worse. But I suppose never having anything would only make you worse.

By: bfra on 2/6/13 at 8:05

My! My! Raspy, your retorts are getting weaker.

By: govskeptic on 2/6/13 at 8:08

Capt: I didn't mean for my rant to mean I opposed just what you described on those
Americans in foreign lands acting against America or it's soldiers being killed.
Such actions are, in my opinion, a surrender of Citizenship rights anyway. It's
domestic use of drones by Police and others that is a worry to this reader.

By: Rasputin72 on 2/6/13 at 8:09

NEMO..........The chances of you and I being in the same block would be slim and none.

However if we were standing next to one another and I gave you my name you would recognize it immediately. However that instance would be the first time that mine and your life have crossed. You state that you are not Rat Nemovitz. If that is true, then there is absolutely no chance that our lives have ever ever crossed paths.

As I have said on numerous occasions imagination runs amok among your class of people.

If you are Rat Nemovitz, you could only have know me as your families paper boy. By the way if you are Rat Nemovitz and want to deny that for some reason your mother still owes me 45 cents for a Sunday and six Nashville Tennesseans.

NEMO.........I never thought you capable of even a one liner statement of intellectual thought.

That is what makes you less than an adequate thug, Raspy old boy. You never had the brains to think something through and the courage to fulfill if you had.

By: bfra on 2/6/13 at 8:12

Nemo - 8:09 AM comment - About as comical as usually seen on this board. The old boy (Raspy) does write hilarious dreamed up comments.

Your cool, govskeptic.

By: Loner on 2/6/13 at 8:19

Good morning, Nashville.

The morality, legality and efficacy of drone strikes, to kill targeted Americans and others is the topic of the day. Here are my thoughts:

The "shared values" between the US and Israel are coming to light. The Israelis have always used assassination...which they euphemistically call "targeted killings", or "extra judicial killings", as a regular tool of statecraft. The Israelis machine-gunned the UN's first peace envoy, Count Bernadotte, on Sept 17, 1948 and never apologized....Yitzhak Shamir masterminded the killing and then went on to become Israeli PM.

The US has adopted Israeli values and Israeli morality...the "Special Relationship" has tainted American values and brought them down to the levels of the Jewish supremacists in apartheid Israel.

It's the old "existential threat" canard...Israel has exploited that idea for 60 years...and now, Uncle Sam is emulating the Jews who are viciously colonizing Palestine....The US is now playing the "existential threat" card, to rationalize and justify cold-blooded murder....the Founders wold be stupefied to witness this.

By: Rasputin72 on 2/6/13 at 8:21

Bfra..........Everything you do not understand has seemed "weak" to you. It is a trademark of your genetics.

It is time for me to make an apperance on the tee box. Today will be an entire day with people just like me. You would despise everyone of them. Not one of them voted for Obama. Not one of them has any expectations that equality is something that can be mandated or voted upon.

I will be back tomorrow morning (assuming the subject matter can be altered into class warfare) for an attitude adjustment for you and your kind.

By: Loner on 2/6/13 at 8:22

Postscript: The Nobel Committee should seriously consider rescinding BHO's Peace Prize...the man has signed the death warrants of hundreds of suspected militants.....Obama has blood on his hands...the Peace Prize is tainted....Obama made his choice, he should suffer the consequences of deceit.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/6/13 at 8:22

bfra-

I find his attempts to uncover my identity or both humorous and pathetic.

By: slacker on 2/6/13 at 8:24

gov., some police agencies, & the border patrol are now using Drones.
I assume they're required to get a court order for surveillance, as in a wiretap.

By: bfra on 2/6/13 at 8:25

Nemo - I find everything he puts on the board humorous & pathetic & obvious lies.

By: yogiman on 2/6/13 at 8:30

Rasputin72,

A bill, HJ Resolution 15, has been submitted for vote in the House. That bill is to take the 22nd Amendment out of our Constitution. Should that bill pass, it will eliminate the 2 term limit rule for the presidential office. That would mean Barry can run for usurpation of office until his death.

By: Loner on 2/6/13 at 8:32

Rasputin heads off to the "tee box"...a euphemism for the nice & warm public library, where he can get off the streets for awhile and wait for lunch at the mission? Poor devil is nuttier than a fluffer-nutter sandwich.

This site does seem to attract the fringe...we got racist birthers, homeless tycoons, air-headed Limbaugh-lovers, government-haters, gun nuts, born-agains, secessionists...you name it....diversity is good, I suppose....but we could use some more articulate free-thinkers here...sadly, the trolls are bringing the quality of the board down....good posters have fled...new posters don't stay.

Enough sane voters to elect him for the 2nd term! That's all that counts. Insane nuts, like yourself, don't count.

And bfra, who are these sane voters? Surely you gest!

And Loner, you finally said something sane - BHO peace prize is bunk! It should never have been awarded to him in the first place, like all the other "awards" he has gotten through ill-gotten methods, such as the POTUS award!

By: Loner on 2/6/13 at 8:37

According to my knowledge, it takes a constitutional amendment to rescind a constitutional amendment...two thirds of the states have to ratify the proposed amendment within a limited time frame, for the proposal to become law. Once again, our racist birther troll has been had...a victim of on-the-air, right-wing BS....what a tool.

By: bfra on 2/6/13 at 8:37

bud - Did you just omit the last election? It still happened & Obama is the President, again.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/6/13 at 8:38

You sure got that right Loner, but that is why we are here to keep the riff-raff in their place. LOL

By: Captain Nemo on 2/6/13 at 8:40

Speaking of insane nuts... Morning bud. You loser.

By: bfra on 2/6/13 at 8:40

Loner - The troll doesn't verify anything. If he had searched, he would have found that this proposal has 0 chance of even getting past the committee. 1 nut can propose "anything", that doesn't make it happen or even have merit.

By: yogiman on 2/6/13 at 8:40

Loner,

Your man Obama has not only put this nation deeper into debt than all president before him combined, but he has said more lies than all presidents before him combined. He's already become the national liar in office, so he'll win a championship that can't be tied for generations to come.

By: BenDover on 2/6/13 at 8:41

Bush's guarding of the country with 'homeland protection' is pale in comparison to Obama guarding his ego. We will be safe from foreign attack because Obama is not willing to be embarrassed on the matter. Civil liberties and protections be damned.

Virginia's not going for Droning

bfra,

How much proof do you need when the proposed bill number is shown. Don't you have enough intelligence to simply check that number out?

By: Captain Nemo on 2/6/13 at 8:45

I could not get that link slacker.

By: Loner on 2/6/13 at 8:46

Slack...I had to leave the board abruptly the other day...the Slippery Nipple cocktail sounds good...the drop of Grenadine atop Bailey's Irish Cream...the creamy Bailey's floating on the dark, anisette-flavored Sambuca ....I may order this, for me and my camp wife (wives), on my retreat this Summer....sounds yummy.

By: yogiman on 2/6/13 at 8:47

You forgot to mention your Obama lovers in your 8:32 post, Loner. Are you just leaving yourself out?

By: bfra on 2/6/13 at 8:48

yogi - More sense than you, I read what was said about the bill. Try another warped angle!

By: bfra on 2/6/13 at 8:50

Dumbass-yogi - Loner didn't have an 8:32 post!

By: slacker on 2/6/13 at 8:55

Loner, after a hard day of self-flagellation.. nothing hits the spot better.. than to sit down, put your feet up, and sip on a Slippery Nipple.

By: Loner on 2/6/13 at 8:56

Virginia balks at a federal law/policy...nothing new here...Virginia has always had a secessionist-streak in her body politic....Again, the South should never have been admitted back into the union with their borders intact...the names of the seceding states should have been banned for future use...the whole confederacy should have been assigned the status of a US Possession.....hindsight is 20/20, of course.

By: Captain Nemo on 2/6/13 at 8:56

You know folks that Rasputin will complain that we spend way to much time on yogi and not on him.

By: yogiman on 2/6/13 at 8:56

You're right, Loner, it would take an amendment to abolish the 22nd amendment. But considering the congress we have and none of them have questioned Obama's eligibility for that office would mean it would be presented to the citizens for approval.

Then when you consider the people like you, and yours, on this site who so strongly support a man whom they don't even know his legitimate name will probably vote for that amendment to keep their man in office, he won't need to take over as dictator.
