A new study released this week by the General Accounting Office found that improper charging on government credit cards by federal employees wastes hundreds of millions of dollars each year.
Among the items charged were a mounted deer head, expensive wine and plastic surgery.
Federal employees began using government issued cards in 1989 as a way to cut processing costs and streamline buying.
But, the study found, the program has gotten completely out of hand with charges going from $1 billion in 1994 to $16 billion in 2003. Some federal employees have outrageous credit limits
