Letter to the Editor

I have had an unbridled passion for LSU baseball for decades now and my husband and I, and many of our friends, have followed our beloved Tigers to the College World Series 15 times.

Yes, we in Baton Rouge are all bitterly disappointed that our Tigers did not receive a NCAA Regional bid and, therefore, will not have a chance to play on the “world stage” in our beloved Omaha this year, the real Field of Dreams.

But, I am writing this to the Commodore nation at your wonderful university and city. You are our “first cousin” in the SEC and you have a great team. I am rooting for you to win your Regional, your Super Regional and get to Omaha …and wow the country with the national championship trophy. Omaha is some special place and I hope it’s your turn this year.

Play hard, root hard, wave your Vanderbilt flags all over the new stadium — and win. We’ll be screaming at our TV sets for you this year.

Good luck, Vanderbilt.

"He wants you to cut back your spending and driving around while he spends, spends, spends and flies, flies, flies."

First, the President can only spend what Congress allows him to spend (it's in the Constitution...ever heard of it?). Second, travel is a job requirement for the office.

And here I thought we were talking about Chris Christie.

No slacker,

I keep thinking; maybe, just maybe, someday some of these Obama loving fools will wake up and see what he is.

Will it be in vain? Maybe, but if just enough finally figure out what he, and many of the current members of congress, is, the true Americas can survive.

How about looking deeply into the matter and joining us?

Yes, I too hope that Honduras and Costa Rica survive...

Got cult?

By: yogiman on 6/2/11 at 1:12

gdiafante,

I agree, the president can only spend what congress allows, but Obama apparently hasn't read OUR Constitution.

As much as he is ignoring it, maybe the one he had studied is the one he wrote.

By: house_of_pain on 6/2/11 at 1:29

Save your breath...you'll need it later, to blow up your date.

By: yogiman on 6/2/11 at 1:40

I agree with you on that, gdiafante. Everyone born, or whom have become citizens of, are Americans if they live in North, Central or South America.

Now, can you explain the differences between the nations of the three American Continents? Why are people from Mexico called Mexicans, and the people from Canada are called Canadians and the people from the United States of America are called Americans?

American wise, what is the difference in any of us, as Americans.

Some are young, some are smart. You are neither.

Then why are you all copying me and you grow older? And by that, I mean, showing your ignorance?

By: AmyLiorate on 6/2/11 at 2:06

whew, what a laugh riot today. Keep it up guys!

Yogi, they snagged your land and you think they'll let you off the hook for some property tax? I doubt it, they made the road "better", so even if the old one served you well I'm sure they'll tell you the property tax should go up because now the road is improved. ;)

Interesting story following Mexican heritage Mitt - http://rt.com/usa/news/cindy-crawford-obama-romney/

(we know Mitt's really American because we've all seen his birth certificate)

I hope Mitt goes nowhere without Herman Cain leading him.

By: yogiman on 6/2/11 at 2:35

I was simply kidding about my taxes, Amy. They let ours ride it out this year. Hopefully,l next year, too.

And no, with the use of the land where they widened the road around a curve, I had no objection. It would have been more politically correct if they had at least mentioned it to me and asked for my permission.

Heck, have they been reading too many of dumba..es post about me they was afraid I would say no?

Maybe they thought about the issue when one of the road cleaners parked his bush hog just around a corner and I crashed into it before I could stop.

Thanks to my attorney, the time limit ran out for a law suit so I had to take the loss.

Oh, he isn't my attorney any more.

By: AmyLiorate on 6/2/11 at 3:26

Maybe you should file a suit against your former attorney due to his slipping up. Maybe it was intentional? Besides, seeing two snakes fight should be a good show, you don't have to win.

Speaking of slipping up:
"They should be shocked that opinion is so one-sided in Hollywood that it's OK to say, 'I'm fine with discrimination.'"
"My whole book is a plea for openness in the industry," he added. "Hire people from the other side of the aisle once in a while, or at least stop mocking them."

http://tv.yahoo.com/blog/tv-executives-admit-in-taped-interviews-that-hollywood-pushes-a-liberal-agenda--3086

I'd say don't stop mocking one side - mock them both, no one on this planet wears a halo and no political group is above reproach. But it is pretty lame to hear years of crap about the fairness doctrine needing to comeback. Talk about hypocrites!

Happy 4:20....UN panel urges Cannabis legalization:

Those one-worlder types finally got something right.

By: yogiman on 6/2/11 at 4:27

Amy,
I think you know; there is more hypocrites in congress than there is actual politicians.

The "new" ones usually start out as a "good man to have around". Then they become "pretty good". Then they become "not too bad". Then they become; Who in the hell did we elect them for?

I've thought about suing the guy. After it all came out he told me he wouldn't go into court against the specific attorney he would face... because they "didn't get along".I guess they don't like each other.

Remind you of a few on this site?

By: Captain Nemo on 6/2/11 at 4:27

Oh how convenient yogi has being on Road Committee. Back in the old day private property came out to the centerline of a Public Road. If that were true then the individual land owner could charge a toll for crossing their land.

You are just a damn old compulsive lair and a damn bad one at that.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/2/11 at 4:30

I will ask you once more yogi, where did I say this.

By: yogiman on 6/1/11 at 10:22
dumba..,

I know you are bad at spelling simple words, but how can you misspell Texas into Tennessee?

By: AmyLiorate on 6/2/11 at 4:33

Good word there Loner. Prohibition failed in the early 1900's and it has failed in the late 1900's and 2000's... when will people learn?

By: Captain Nemo on 6/2/11 at 4:40

Once they had figured out how to tax booze then it became legal. Once they figure out how to tax cannabis it will be legal too.

By: yogiman on 6/2/11 at 5:44

dumba..,

Since you are so good at finding all the facts you want to know about someone, you can go to what is now known as the County Mayor's office and I'm sure they will willingly give you copies of all the records they have when I served on a variety of committees when serving my neighbors on the Quarterly County Court.

Yeah, some things have changed, but they haven't taken away any of our land by simple selection.

And I repeat; the laws you quoted I could only come close to in the Texas site. I simply could not get Smith County on my 'lil 'ol cheap computer as you posted.

Did you misspell something?

By: budlight on 6/2/11 at 6:55

revo-lou on 6/2/11 at 12:26
Ahh, butlight, the hypocrite christian!

Ahh, Obama, they hypocrite U.S. Citizen and revo-lou, the hippo-crite poster. You think I care what you think or write, revo? Not!

Yogi, Christi goofed and he's already paid back the state. When will Obama put all the dough-re-mi back into the treasury he's spent? Now I hear that Bush sent 2 grants to China for research on clean air (or something like that) and Obama doubled it and has sent China 4 grants for the same blasted thing.

We owe them billions and WE are sending them grants for funding. How stupid is that? Both Bush and Obama lose my love and support on this one. But as we have seen, Obama did out do Bush - Obama doubled the stupid grants.

By: BenDover on 6/2/11 at 10:11

Ya know... yogi... and bud too... they ignore everything you say in defense. If you want anyone to read what you post it needs to be a clever and in direct offense in responding to something they have said. Reason does not work... facts do not work... actually, what I've suggested does not work because they are indoctrinated to the degree that very little can penetrate their predispositions; but the only thing that gets their attention is a witty retort. So spewing facts, over and over and over, that offend what they’ve been taught (over and over and over) will do nothing but garner their contempt.

Just my thoughts... bd.

Ben is up late tonight, coaching his team...giving a few pointers...sharing the wisdom.

Good luck with that debating squad, coach. You certainly have your work cut out for you.

Surely, brevity is the soul of wit; but, as Shaw pointed out, there must be a grain of truth in the remark for it to be humorous.

I'm glad that you liked my Weiner wordplay, Ben...it was almost too easy....the guy is an obnoxious grand-stander and an ambitious climber with world-class arrogance. Let Weiner sizzle on the grill.

Weiner is registered as a Democrat, but his true affiliation is with Liukud. I say, "Git a rope!"

By: Loner on 6/2/11 at 11:04

Question: If Weiner succeeds in getting himself elected as Mayor of New York City, could Oscar Mayer Weiners sue Mayor Weiner for copyright infringement?
