Letter to the Editor

Tennessee seems to have kept its well-qualified role as the Volunteer State. Gov. Bredesen signed into law on May 27 Public Chapter 983, which included the HB-3768 and SB-3740. Both branches voted yes for each of these branch bills with “no” votes and only one not voting in each branch.

This bill denies the Sharia Law from being recognized in Tennessee courts. The Sharia Law is referred to as "Islamic Law."

Islamic laws have been accepted by several nations in Europe, and some were looking forward for it to be accepted in the United States.

Hopefully, the Tennessee legislature has set a great example for the rest of the states of our union to deny foreign law in our courts.

The Volunteer State has once again volunteered to lead the way.

This nonsense about be older making you smarter is highly over rated. Years of repeated stupidity on make yogi less intelligent.

By: gdiafante on 11/9/10 at 9:28

Welcome back Nemo. Nice to have a voice of reason back with us.

By: bfra on 11/9/10 at 9:32

Welcome back Nemo & it sounds like all "good" news to me.

By: dargent7 on 11/9/10 at 9:33

Uncle "Nemo": Only you can go in for knee cap replacement surgery and come out with better eyesight. Did the Dr. throw in LASIK as a bonus?

We lost "dooley" a few weeks ago.. This paper has a strict policy of only one death a year. We made our quota.
Get well.

By: bfra on 11/9/10 at 9:34

g - You seem to equate everything with a homosexual agenda, for some reason. Just haven't figured it out yet.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/9/10 at 9:36

Thank you all it is good to be back. I can stay long, because I’ve got to go and do my therapy and take care of my daily life. If I can I will check in later.

I was here when I got the news of dooley. I wish I had might him once.

By: gdiafante on 11/9/10 at 9:37

"g - You seem to equate everything with a homosexual agenda, for some reason. Just haven't figured it out yet."

You truly have reading comprehension problems...

By: bfra on 11/9/10 at 9:38

g - Maybe you don't understand what you post.

By: gdiafante on 11/9/10 at 9:41

Bfra, and read this slowly...pointing out that someone else thought 9/11 was retribution for homosexuality is not "equating everything with a homosexual agenda".

I know you're not stupid, so stop acting like it.

By: bfra on 11/9/10 at 9:48

g - You are so right, I am definitely not stupid, so tell me what connection Westboro Baptist Church, which promotes anti-gay, have to do with muslims, dancing in the streets, celebrating 9/11.

By: bfra on 11/9/10 at 9:49

have should be "has"!

By: gdiafante on 11/9/10 at 9:57

Wow, just wow.

It's simple, bfra, you cannot judge all Muslims based upon the actions of a few (yes, there are a billion or so Muslims, did they all dance in the street?) just as you cannot judge Christianity based upon the actions of a few (like the Westboro Baptist Church nuts).

Is that better? I can post one word at a time if it will help you.

By: dargent7 on 11/9/10 at 10:16

gD; No, they did not all "dance in the streets". But, NO Imam, their spiritual leader and procurer of funds to build these mosques, DID NOT rail against, refute, do anything after 9/11.
They were silent. From Dearborn, Mich. to Saudi Arabia.
So, 10 years later, they're coming out of the woodwork saying Sharia Law is compatible with the US Constitution and the Bible? You freakin' kiddin' me?
They are plying us for the fools we are.

By: gdiafante on 11/9/10 at 10:20

Darge, I found this doing one quick search on google...

Care to rethink your position?

By: dargent7 on 11/9/10 at 10:43

gD: For the record, I do not go around attempting to discriminate and label people.
But, Muslims, 1.57 billion strong, have a foothold in the Middle East.
Look at current phots from that region.
Women wear burkas, head to toe.
They've had 5,000 years to "work on it", and you think they'll listen to a pipsqueek country, the USA, 230 years old on what to do, say, and believe?
GW Bush's grandiose plan on changing the Middle East into a Democracy was ill- concieved, ill- thought out, and something we can ill-afford.
Muslims take their religion much more seriously than Americans. It's a way of life.
Live, and let live. Sure. Them there...us, here.
No Muslim strong hold here in America.

By: bfra on 11/9/10 at 10:52

And 1 Baptist Church does not represent all Christians, but several countries with muslims celebrating 9/11 does represent the hate muslims have for Americans. Note g, I did not say all muslims. However, I don't want myself, nor my family or friends, to be in a situation to find out which ones they are.

By: bfra on 11/9/10 at 10:56

g - Google will prove anything, if you look long enough. Couldn't find where your link came from, but willing to bet, from the name, it was by a muslim.

By: yogiman on 11/9/10 at 11:02

RE; your 9:06 post; I've done took my medicine, gdiafante. That's what makes me so much smarter than you. I take it every day. Its not only good for the body, its also good for the brain. You should try some.

By: AmyLiorate on 11/9/10 at 11:07

Glad to hear from you Nemo. Sounds like you are happy, we've missed the daily pics.

By: yogiman on 11/9/10 at 11:18

Those of you who aren't worried about the "Islamic" law coming into the US had better start thinking. Get your poor minds off these idiotic comment on this web sight. Don't you understand none of the European nations gave it one iota of a thought it would enter into their nations?

I'll repeat, folks, one step at a time. Keep on stepping and sooner or later, you'll get there.. unless you are stopped.

By: Kosh III on 11/9/10 at 11:32

you are oversimplifying. Women in the Middle East wear everything from traditional garb to modern western high fashion.
Here is a photo
I have yet to hear whines about how Jewish Law trumps US law. In NY there is occasional furor over the fact that civil courts give precedent to Jewish Orthodox divorce laws, usually to the detriment of the wife. See New York Statute: DRL 236B.

There are more Jews in the US than Muslims.

By: gdiafante on 11/9/10 at 11:38

"I've done took my medicine"

Did your parents teach you basic grammar? Never mind, rhetorical.

Bfra...so you dismiss condemnations from Muslims concerning 9/11 because they're from Muslims yet complain that Muslims didn't condemn 9/11...lol

I haven't seen this kind of circular logic since Chief posted...

By: bfra on 11/9/10 at 11:43

g - If you are that naive, that's a pity.

By: gdiafante on 11/9/10 at 11:47

Yes, silly me...

Circling the drain folks...

By: AmyLiorate on 11/9/10 at 11:57

If several countries had a one time celebration of say 100,000 people does that represent all muslims?

If a million of them cheered does that represent the other 1.4 billion?

So far the number of fanatics who have actually done us physical harm is really small.
About 0.0000023% of all muslims.

If there are 30 people in the Westboro Church who go around protesting like absurd fanatics that makes them about .000010% of the US population.

A far greater percentage of Americans believe that US soldiers die because our country "sins" than there are muslim lunatics who can reach us.

By: yogiman on 11/9/10 at 12:02

Sorry, gdiafante, I just try to put my notes in a language I think you might understand. But, yes, I have already taken my medicine. Every damn pill of it.

By: yogiman on 11/9/10 at 12:06

Amy, there are gooduns and baduns in all walks of life. You can only hope the gooduns are in your walk of life.

By: dargent7 on 11/9/10 at 12:13

K-3: No Jew ever blew himself/ herself up on a bus, in a subway, in a car.
Bllowing yourself up is an act of faith and religion to these people.
That's the crux of what some of us question. What's all this suicide bombing?
McVeigh and Nichols didn't kill themselves in their acts.
These people do.
Learn it, practice it, preach it. But, do it somewhere outside America.

By: bfra on 11/9/10 at 12:30

And they can hide a lot of explosives under those billowing frocks!

By: Captain Nemo on 11/9/10 at 12:39

Religion and the leaders of religion look for converts among the weak and poor of the world. For the people that have no hope other than life will be better have they die, and then blowing oneself up in the name of God is really a simple choice.

Have you ever asked yourself why the streets of heaven paved in gold and not diamonds?

By: Kosh III on 11/9/10 at 12:41

"K-3: No Jew ever blew himself/ herself up on a bus, in a subway, in a car."

Really? How about the King David Hotel? Stern Gang? Menahem Begin?

A simple perusal of the British occupation of Palestine proves you wrong. Look up any of the above.

By: yogiman on 11/9/10 at 12:50

Welcome back to the dock, Captain Nemo. Did you get that thar boat's hull up off'n the ocean's floor?

And by the way; how do you know what is lining those street up yonda? You just coming back for a little visit so you could tell us?

By: dargent7 on 11/9/10 at 1:40

The ratio of Jews blowing themselves up at church sevices, weddings, subways, buses, mosques, police recruting stations, PALES in comparison to Muslim's.
You think Muslims want to come to America and improve our society?
How? Assimilate? They already demand their "laws" reign supreme, over ours.
They demand their own "garb", even when getting a Driver license photo.
I suggest you and gD "google, "Trojan Horse".

By: gdiafante on 11/9/10 at 1:47

This country is far closer to having a Christian Theocracy than Sharia Law.

I've never seen such a fearful, cowardice society, afraid of every thing and every one.

By: house_of_pain on 11/9/10 at 1:51

gd, your use of italics frightens & confuses me.

By: gdiafante on 11/9/10 at 1:53

My italics will eventually usurp the Constitution...

By: Kosh III on 11/9/10 at 2:11

Really? I work with some folks from Egypt. They are completely assimilated; their dress is like everyone else, the husband keeps Home Depot in business with his handyman projects, their teens live on Facebook. How radical.

By: dargent7 on 11/9/10 at 3:07

K-3: Again.
google, "Trojan Horse".

By: gdiafante on 11/9/10 at 3:10

I did, Darge. Got a lot of info about the Trojan war and computer viruses.

Is this another conspiracy theory? Sorry, not a fan of the X-Files.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/9/10 at 3:18

Osama bin Laden plan is working. Get the westerners to fear anything that remotely looks Islam. Then he can say, “Look they are destroying Islam. It is a Holy War.”

Then Loner can say, “Holy Wars Suck.”

By: dargent7 on 11/9/10 at 3:26

My point is the religion of Islam and it's adherents is 100x more "intense" than any religion in America.
We here go to church on Sundays.
Those people pray, on mats, facing Mecca, 6x a DAY.
It's not only a way of life, it IS life.
Americans are superficial when it comes to God.
We worship the banks and Walmart.
They worship Al'lah and Mohammed.
They will die for it, we won't.
Big difference.
You better get to know youre ememy because they are.

By: house_of_pain on 11/9/10 at 3:35

lol, Nemo

By: Captain Nemo on 11/9/10 at 3:37

I agree 100% with that post d7. Americans is too soft. When was the last time was did the US citizen suffer to save the country. World War 2 we had to give up many thing in order to win.

If we are to get out of this debt we are in, then we must do
with out our little perks and pay higher taxes for a time to climb out of this debt we have built.

By: slacker on 11/9/10 at 3:37

darge, I agree with you. There is friction with Muslims in other countries, such as France, England, Sweden. This country, and Europe, is going down the tubes anyway. Don't even worry about it, we're probably gonna get nuked anyway.
But on a cherry note, I'm glad to see that Nemo has returned.

"Volunteer State leads rejection of Sharia Law"

Hey everyone, go get your fav-o-rite fishin' pole!!!!! The red herrings are runnin'.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/9/10 at 3:47

Thanks slacker. I feel like Slim Pickens riding the bomb down now. lol

By: house_of_pain on 11/9/10 at 3:49

Fact: I do not have a fishing pole.

Maui!!!! For God's sake man, what are you doing here!!! I know, I know, it's expensive there..... but I'd rather be a poor man in heaven, than a rich man in hell.

By: slacker on 11/9/10 at 3:53

brrrrk, Sharia Law is perfect for the ''Greenies.'' That stoning folks to death, cuts down on chemicals, excessive use of electricity, gas, hemp.
