Are you willing to pay more taxes? House bill HR 4646 is a proposed new taxation that will give the government 1 percent of each transaction you make with your money. Do you want it? Can you afford it?

Consider that on any move you make of your money, you will be charged a 1 percent tax. Using your credit card? A 1 percent tax on the transaction. Transferring money from your checking account into your saving account? A 1 percent tax. Transferring your money from your savings account into your checking account? A 1 percent tax. Is your social security check being directly deposited? A 1 percent tax automatically deducted. Writing checks on your social security deposits? A 1 percent tax.

Let’s say you make a $5,000 deposit. You will pay $50 to make that deposit. OK, you decided to move that money into your savings account. You will pay $50 to make that transfer. Now, a couple of weeks later you need to place that money back into your checking account. Another $50 charged. Does that $150 read 1 percent? Not in my dictionary.

Now, consider the use of writing a check on this money to pay a credit card bill. Yep, 1 percent more out of that account.

Now consider, is it only going to remain at 1 percent? Don’t count on it. This proposal is being placed by a man (Rep. Chakah Fattah, D-Penn.) who said if you did not make a minimum of $250,000 you would not be taxed. What has the lower minimum wage become already?

@ yogiman: Such a bill should be classified as larcenous legislation. It would be oppressive for everyone, regardless of income. What you describe is worse than a value added tax (VAT), and a VAT at any rate is a drag on an economy. These types of innovative government gouging are used in Europe to milk the populace, and swell the tax coffers. Simply put, they are part and parcel of their socialistic system.

There are degrees and types of socialism that do not fit the classic definition, but they well fit the progressive agenda. European Socialism, like any other type eats like a canker, and eventually destroys. As some European countries are finally seeing the folly of such systems, and backing away, others have already reached the brink of insolvency.

Progressives like to point to Europe as a model for the U.S.A. to follow. Only those with a penchant for Marxism, or a socialist worldview embrace such asininity. Tragically, the Obama Administration, and many in the 111th Congress are committed to taking this country into their version of Utopia, which is actually an abyss. Let us hope that the 112th Congress can return us to a degree of sanity.

Note: Perhaps you can persuade the new Congress to aggressively seek that long form birth certificate.

Rep. Fattah was on C-Span just yesterday morning. Although
he has served in the House for several terms representing a
Philly suburb, he's a liberal democrat and this proposal will go
no where. I doubt even the few remaining Blue Dogs would
agree to this proposal.

Given yogi's history with copy and pasting chain emails, I thought I'd do a little investigative reporting...

The NCP has been hoodwinked...lol

bnakat,

I fully agree with you on that birth certificate issue. Our nation is now on the downhill side of the road to Rome.

I hope a few states pass a law requiring everyone running for an office to prove they are legally eligible. Maybe the Volunteer State can become an example.

The sad part is a congress that allowed an illegal man to take that office without any question.

By: yogiman on 11/17/10 at 8:07

gdiafante,

If you would have looked a little deeper you would have noticed the law hasn't become a law yet. It is in a proposal stage. Let's just hope it stays there.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/17/10 at 8:07

nice work, g! you'd think a good editor would AT LEAST check snopes! lol!

oh geez, here we go with the birthers again.

You should have been here yesterday, blanket. Yogi thought the Revolutionary War was fought to defend the constitution. lol

Didn't Obama say Afghanistan is HIS WAR? And Obama said the Wars are over also. Of course, he's on so many vacations, how would he know. He was in his home country praising THEIR warriors while Biden laid the wreath. Obama was selling our country to China or the highest bidderr.

Soldiers died at Fort Hood by the hands of a Muslim doctor in the US Army. So is the war over?

By: house_of_pain on 11/17/10 at 8:56

I seriously doubt that bill would go anywhere. Can you say, "political suicide"?
I knew you could.

Very nice Nemo, especially the colors.

Reelfoot, what a unique place.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/17/10 at 10:07

Amy-
I have been there once. It was in the middle of summer and the humidity was high I stayed in the in doors the hold time. Next time it will be in the Fall or Spring.

By: AmyLiorate on 11/17/10 at 10:14

West Tennessee is so drastically different from Middle and East Tn. This is a pretty cool state when you get down to it.

Many years ago they brought in Bald Eagles there to revive their population. They've done well. I've been to Reelfoot many times, we have some family not far from there. They like to go to a restaurant by the lake for catfish and hush puppies.

By: bfra on 11/17/10 at 10:14

Nemo - Mornin' - For some reason I couln't get that link, but I can imagine how pretty it was, I have fished there many times. The way the lake was formed & the cypress trees are realy unique.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/17/10 at 10:22

Amy-

The Eagles were not there at the time I went. That is another reason I would go back in the fall or later to see them.

bfra-

Yes it is unique. Just think of the damage such a quake would cause if it took place today.

By: house_of_pain on 11/17/10 at 10:29

Uh, Nemo...maybe you shouldn't drive around Reelfoot. For the eagles' sake.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/17/10 at 10:33

lol house. You got a point.

Soulmates on this "bored"? That would be board. But you are boring.

He's been on more than a 10 day to Asia. He needs to practice what he and his mother, Nancy P., preach: STAY-cation.

If you combined the brain power of yogi and sid, you'd get a negative fraction.

By: yogiman on 11/17/10 at 11:33

It is amazing how brilliant most of you idiots seem to think you are. I have a legitimate excuse for my brilliance. What is y'alls?

I really wish I had the brain you all seem to think you have. I'd be a brilliant man.

Please note bfra, dargent7, gdiafante and Captain Nemo; I ain't mentioning no names.

By: gdiafante on 11/17/10 at 11:36

Nice try, yogi, but you've been exposed as a fraud. Don't blame us for your shortcomings.

By: bfra on 11/17/10 at 11:36

yogi - You sure do list me in some good company, thanks!

By: yogiman on 11/17/10 at 11:49

Blanketnazi2,

What makes you so sure NCP did not check Snopes? And what makes you so sure Snopes is absolutely accurate in all phases of writings?

Is that one of your inventions to know it is absolutely accurate?

By: gdiafante on 11/17/10 at 12:10

If they had checked, they would have (1) realized that you were copying nearly word for word a chain email and (2) that the bill in question was more likely to be found engraved in a mountain on Mars than to actually pass.

By: dargent7 on 11/17/10 at 12:31

dG: There you go again. Talking about "yogi's" shortcomings, er, ah, his putter.

By: yogiman on 11/17/10 at 12:39

budlight,

I agree with you on being soulmates on this 'bored'. Hell yes, we are bored with this board.

By: yogiman on 11/17/10 at 12:45

gdiafante,

Re-read the statement. There was no mention of the bill already passed. In essence, it had been thrown on the floor. It was, and I presume is, questionable as to whether it would pass.

I don't know about you, but I sure hope it isn't. But then, don't count this congress out, either way.

By: yogiman on 11/17/10 at 12:56

bfra,

With your thoughts on my 'loading' my 'pootur' with Oba ma. Yes, and if it crashes, I'll just go buy a new one, bigger and better so I can get more facts about him in it.

Question: are you familiar with Lt. Col. Terrence going in for court marshal next month for refusing to go into a combat zone because of his question about Obama's legality in office? A man with 18 years service behind him? A simple matter would be for Obama to simply provide a birth certificate to prove he is in that office legally.

Or don't you give a damn? If you don't, that is simply saying we should replace the Sear-Roebuck catalog with the Constitution in the outhouse.

If you people aren't concerned about the currant congress letting this happen; get ready for one hell of a disappointment. I don't think you will like our nation then.

By: gdiafante on 11/17/10 at 12:57

It's strange how you left out the part about it not being very likely...it's almost as if your purpose was to create some kind of fear or paranoia...

Let me guess, you were told that if you forwarded that to ten people you'd have good luck...

The fact that you're oblivious to the nature of the chain email and the part you play is embarrassing.

By: yogiman on 11/17/10 at 1:01

Sorry, I didn't get all of Col Lakin's name in the post. The man's name is Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin.

Typing too fast and this pootur is taking it too slow and leaving some letters and words out. Need to go slower, I reckon.

By: yogiman on 11/17/10 at 1:03

Captain Nemo,

If you don't want to read my posts, don't read them. It is simple to just pass over them when you see my name. Understand?

By: yogiman on 11/17/10 at 1:18

gdiafante,

You don't know precisely what was in my LTE. You can only presume you do.

It is a letter to the editor. Don't you think it is ever edited? Sometimes they are so long they are cut short.

And I'm also sorry I wasn't aware this was supposed to be a little social tit tat post for a few personal friends. I thought it was a post to get information across for others to know.

That I'm going to do unless or until I am contacted by the NCP and told to get off the post.

I'll reiterate to you as I posted Captain Nemo, if you don't like my post, simply ignore it when you see my name, but each time you make your facetious comments tells me you was interested in it enough to read it.

And yes, time will tell about Obama being the first illegal person congress has allowed in the Oval Office of our nation.

By: gdiafante on 11/17/10 at 1:23

So you're asserting that it was heavily edited? Specifically, a statement regarding the liklihood that this bill would pass was deleted from the original copy?

Since you're so keen on copying and pasting, why don't you post the original submission?

By: brrrrk on 11/17/10 at 1:29

And from the world of hypocrisy.....

Republican freshman outraged over congressional health care plan

http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_theticket/republican-freshman-outraged-over-congressional-health-care-plan

"Harris' staff says he wasn't being hypocritical--and that indeed, the lawmaker was drawing attention to the inefficiency of a government-run health care program."

Uh, yeah, right....... Anyone want some swampland. He's complaining about having to wait 28 days. I've known people working for private companies that have had to wait longer than that to get insurance.

By: gdiafante on 11/17/10 at 1:29

And, if that's the case, why weren't you the first one on here complaining that they edited your finished version?

By: gdiafante on 11/17/10 at 1:35

I had to wait 90 days once. Considering the number of people without insurance period, the SOB should just shut his mouth and appreciate the insurance he's going to get.

By: bfra on 11/17/10 at 1:45

yogi - Several have told you they don't give a damn about your rumors or gossip, but you just keep repeating the same ole tired bull.
