Letter to the Editor

You have to admire [Belmont University's] gall.

First, they drive off their coach and then when they get called on it, Belmont has the nerve to say there were "incorrect media reports." Taking aside whatever legal employment term you wish to use, you fired your coach, probably because of her sexual orientation. That may be your legal right, but you are officially a joke, and a bigoted one, in my opinion at this point. The next time Belmont seeks a zoning/ordinance change or access to city fields, I will encourage my city council member to fight you.

Good morning, Nashville!

Nice LTE; short and to the point. "Roym" is disgusted by the bigoted actions of Belmont and suggests a method for getting revenge in the future. I agree with Roym.

Belmont is supposed to be an institution of higher learning, based upon Christian principles. If Jesus of Nazareth was a homophobic bigot, Belmont is very Christ-like.

One must wonder how and why a homosexual athletic coach would even apply for a job at a place like Belmont, in the first place. Maybe this is all part of a set-up in which the disgruntled, fired coach can now bring a multi-million-dollar lawsuit against the deep pockets of the bigoted followers of Christ.......sweet.

This is a tough one.
You've got an expensive, high profile, private Christian college in Nashville.
Maybe it was "Don't ask, don't tell'', that she was able to coach and was left alone.
Maybe everyone knew she was gay and had a girlfriend.
But, announcing the happy couple is expecting a baby (?!) was sure to raise eyebrows.
She can sue and make a cool million. Relocate to CA and live happily ever after.
I hear the climate, views, and ocean's better.

Whatever you guys do today, do not mention my Lions lost another game.
You, too, "house". Your Cowboys did get lucky!

By: gdiafante on 12/6/10 at 7:12

How 'bout them Cowboys!

For one, they're better than the Titans...yikes...Darge, I didn't even know the Lions were still in the NFL.

By: dargent7 on 12/6/10 at 7:35

The Lions are like the cars that come out of Detroit. They stink.
At least we're consistent.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/10 at 7:57

As far as the LTE...even though they aren't associated officially with the Baptists anymore, much of the culture still remains, so it shouldn't really be a shock that they would react this way to a homosexual coach.

But the cat is out of the bag now...the times at Belmont are-a-changin'...

Go Green Bay

By: bfra on 12/6/10 at 8:20

Nemo - Beautiful picture! I don't even like the Cowboys, but got home in time to enjoy them beat Manning, oops, that's the Colts, right. I keep forgetting he doesn't have his own team.

Answer: To test the water; get fired and get rich. I smell a law suit down the pike. And the "disgruntled, fired coach" is probably celebrating right now. Eventually, we'll be a gay, muslim country and non-gays will have to keep it a secret. ha, ha, just joking.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/10 at 8:33

bfra-
Thank you.

Last week I could watch another game instead of watching the Titans take a licking. This week the only game on at that time was the Titans. I found an old DVD and reran it. It was a miserable day all together. Go Green Bay!!

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/10 at 8:36

Shut up sidiot.

By: budlight on 12/6/10 at 8:40

Capt. no you shut the "fudge" up. You are a creep. You don't have the right to tell me to shut up. So crawl back into your tiny little hole and dry up. Wanna fight? Keep it up? I am loaded for bear and will defend my right to speak or write. So shut the "fudge" up, you idiot hiding behind a SCREEN name. Ashamed of who you REALLY are? And by the way, hope you're feeling better since your major surgery.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/10 at 8:41

I understand that trolls live under sand dune in the desert of the Middle East.

By: budlight on 12/6/10 at 8:41

The Titans are coming unraveled at the seams. Seems like a re-run of Pac man days. Vince is a weak link.

By: budlight on 12/6/10 at 8:42

And I understand an AH lives in the your house; you are the king of TROLLS. YEPPPER!

By: GUARDIAN on 12/6/10 at 8:42

GUARDIAN-Some bridges shouldn't be built or if they have been should be burnt down. Why should so few control so many with the use of bigot or change. I wouldn't want my children or grand children around the sick evil misfits no matter what they call me. Belmont should tell them to find another school if they want to be another Barney Frank or Rosey Odonal. I think don't ask don't tell should be expanded to civilian life and that's a fact.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/10 at 8:45

Wow, Guardian basically copied his response from the other thread...and he still has no idea how to spell "Rosie O'Donnell"...

LOL!

By: budlight on 12/6/10 at 8:45

Go Guardian. Stand up with honor and integrity. So few control so many with their game calling and name calling. People have a right to NOT accept all the other people's rules. The "majority" should rule.

By: dargent7 on 12/6/10 at 8:45

gD is right.
They, Belmont, had to know she was "gay".
That's a huge step for a "Christian" college to even look the other way.
As an aside, Christians, especially here in the South, NEVER condone, accept, foster homosexuality. Never will, until, maybe, 2076.
She and her "girlfriend" announce the expected birth of a bouncy baby boy?
Not in Tennessee.
Flying monkeys will come out my arse before that happens.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/10 at 8:45

You are loaded alright but it ain’t bear.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/10 at 8:47

Yes, Sid...because the majority is always right...just ask Rosa Parks.

By: bfra on 12/6/10 at 8:48

====================================

Guardian just using your comment to make a point. Especially bridges that house trolls that know nothing but jibberish!

By: dargent7 on 12/6/10 at 8:53

gD: Gotta love those Detroit bitches.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/10 at 8:56

I understand that Detroit’s problems began when the trolls moved under the bridges.

By: govskeptic on 12/6/10 at 9:03

If it's faith bashing story of any kind expect Loner to be
first in line. The University belongs to Belmont, it's not
a lab for social experiments like the federal funded ones
or for Press approved employment morals!

First things first, the hog needs a name.

The Porcine Terror of Percy Priest? The Cane Ridge Hog Monster?

Whatever it’s called, it’s a problem.

Folks along Daisy Lane down in Antioch are being downright terrorized by what residents describe as a “wild boar.”

sid must be off her meds and now the neighbor are up in arms.

gov - So true and neither should Belmont change their requirements for 1 person. Would be interested in what her resume indicated.

By: bfra on 12/6/10 at 9:08

Nemo - Darn, you just solved the mystery, and thus a pot-bellied pig! Still wonder how anyone can mistake a pot-bellied pig for a wild boar? Oh, I forgot, her rants!

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/10 at 9:08

When does the Christianity come into play at Belmonte?

By: budlight on 12/6/10 at 9:11

Yes, Sid...because the majority is always right...just ask Rosa Parks.

so you're comparing being born black and discriminated against with a sexual preference? Shallow!

bfra, back at 'cha you hog full of hog wash.

By: oyharward on 12/6/10 at 9:11

In today’s warped minds, some of those who practice homosexuality and Lesbian activity appear a desire to “cram it down our throats”. Golly, that sounds more like what I have been saving about political issues supported by the Obama/Reid/Pelosi team.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/10 at 9:11

Belmont will end up changing their requirements eventually. Otherwise they'll start attracting bigoted fundamentalists.

Progress doesn't happen overnight.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/10 at 9:12

No Sid, I'm not, but I'm not surprised that you would miss the point entirely.

By: Loner on 12/6/10 at 9:14

Every NFL football fan must now be obliged to admire Big Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers' tough-as-steel quarterback. The guy goes into the game with a broken bone in one foot and on the first offensive series, he gets his nose bloodied and broken. There was blood on the frosty gridiron and on his jersey, still, he kept his cool and led his team, the underdogs, to a hard-won 13-10 victory over the Baltimore Ravens..

You just have to admire that sort of true grit.

Miss Piggy speaks.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/10 at 9:16

No Loner, I don't have to admire a man who sexually assaults women because he's a good football player.

By: oyharward on 12/6/10 at 9:17

Rather than settling a lawsuit, may I suggest Belmont ascertain legal assistance from Liberty Counsel or Alliance Defense Fund.

By: bfra on 12/6/10 at 9:22

g - I don't understand Roethlisberger. It is a known fact that dumb women throw themselves at Pro players, all the time. It has got to be something "mental" that he assaults them. IMO, he need professional help.

By: bfra on 12/6/10 at 9:23

Nemo - Quit insulting the real Miss Piggy! MOI Lol

By: gdiafante on 12/6/10 at 9:27

I agree bfra.

By: dargent7 on 12/6/10 at 9:34

Loner: I only admire "Big Ben" for getting off the hook for assulting a female in the Men's Room. Avoids prosecution, jail, and loss of benefits.
That takes skill.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/10 at 9:36

The times is a changing and GUARDING / oyharward are hiding behind their fears that they maybe something else.

Americans' Acceptance of Gay Relations Crosses 50% Threshold

By: dargent7 on 12/6/10 at 9:37

bfra: Oh, contraire.
It's the women who need professional help.
He's a 27 year old, double Super Bowl winner.
Hell, for $50 bucks, I'd give him a foot rub.

By: Loner on 12/6/10 at 9:37

Govskeptic wrote, "If it's faith bashing story of any kind expect Loner to be

I'm afraid Govskeptic is right. Anytime a faith-bashing opportunity presents itself, my PC is programmed to alert me.

When I saw that red light flashing and heard that digitally-simulated klaxon horn sound, I sprang from my bed and started pounding the keyboard.....Good morning, Nashville!

Then, old Oyharward posts his view: "In today’s warped minds, some of those who practice homosexuality and Lesbian activity appear a desire to “cram it down our throats”.

That's only half true, Oy...the other half wants to cram it up the other end of our "virgin" alimentary canals......just kidding!

Today's "Sodomites" got equal rights and they want equal rites too. It's an expression of American pluralism, tolerance and democratic secular governance. It's as American as apple pie, maybe even as American as the NFL..

In short, it's about loving thy neighbor as thee love thyself.....thou better believe it.

Amen.

By: gdiafante on 12/6/10 at 9:42

WOW...

"Dandy" Don Meredith is dead at 72.

I'm speechless...

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/10 at 9:43

Homosexuality should cover both men and women; oyharward seems to get things confused.

By: Captain Nemo on 12/6/10 at 9:46

I have not heard that name mention in years.

By: Loner on 12/6/10 at 9:58

Yeah, some will never forgive Mike Vick, for his dog-fighting operation and some will never forgive Big Ben, for allegedly assaulting a woman in a bar-room situation....both guys paid a price - jail time for Vick and for Ben R., it was NFL fines, a benching and an undisclosed "settlement" with the accuser, as I understand it.

In the opinion of many football fans, self-included, they both paid their dues.

Say what you wish, when it comes to a stoic performance, in the face of multiple adversities, Big Ben is a true champion....you cannot take that away from the man.

The Buffalo Bills went to 2-10....some say that the Bills may have delivered the final blow to Brett Favre's career...another notorious distinction for the vexed team....OJ's team....the 0-4 Superbowl record team.

Name a team in honor of a bison exterminator, and bad stuff happens.
