Letter to the Editor

Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 9:43pm

We can throw out stats all day long whether your pro-Vince Young or pro-Jeff Fisher. But the final count will show we should have got rid of Fisher. When the season ends next year, I hope all you Fisher coattail riders don't go into hiding when the Titans don't make the playoffs again. I can't wait to hear your excuses for him then.

In the meantime, I'll be cheering for every team that plays the Titans.

Bud was caught between a rock and a hard place.
He paid out big money 5 years ago for Young, who wins some, but looses more.
He isn't a team leader in the mold of Brees, Manning, Flacco, Sanchez, even a Vick.
His sideline antics were sad to watch someone making $6. million a year "act out" like a child.
Fisher is the longerst tenured coach in the NFL. Adams is nostolgic. He's also 88.
The Titans lost Haynesworth and Vanden Bosch. Both have proven to be losers with their new teams. They cannot seem to keep players and build a winning team.
Fisher works with what players he has available.
He cannot constantly "re-build".
Fisher probably wants to make it to 20 years with the Titans, but if he looses the next two seasons his winning % will fall below the .53 he has now.

A pessimistic comment by one of our resident trolls.
What's up with all this freakin' snow, d7?

By: govskeptic on 1/10/11 at 6:15

The wisdom in this note to the editor by "get real" is astonishing.
Does one wonder if Mr. Adams took a few days or weeks to see
just how many Agents would contact the organization from Coaches
out there inquiring about a possible future vacancy? I suspect if
he did he was disappointed!

Good morning, Nashville!

Monday morning quarterbacking and a blizzard of discontent in Music City.....that and the blame game re:the Tucson shootings. The left blames the right and the right blames the left. Homeland Security is blaming "anti-Semitism".

Get a new owner

By: dargent7 on 1/10/11 at 6:29

Al "Crazy Eyes" Gore may be onto something.
Look at the bright side. You get to spend all day with your wife and kid...YUK!

By: house_of_pain on 1/10/11 at 6:37

The wife is gonna try to make it to work...just me & the Munchkin at home.
Thankfully, I have beer in the fridge.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/10/11 at 6:47

I think we are approaching 100 accidents on the roads already. I’m staying in until they get to work or crash. Better yet I may just stay in.

By: bfra on 1/10/11 at 7:21

house - You should go out and build that baby a snowman!

By: serr8d on 1/10/11 at 7:33

Oh! You left one out: Loner, who unequivocally states "I blame the JOOOOOOOOS~!" ;D

*Bud Adams did exactly as an 88-y/o man should do: he considered his remaining time left on this planet, and decided his best chance to see a trophy was with Jeff. Hope he's right. (Did you know that Michael Vick is likely now a free-agent QB? wouldn't it be nice to attract him to QB the Titans?)

*The left is engaging in blood libel RE: the nutcase who killed a 9 year old child in Arizona, and some older people, blaming everyone from Sarah Palin to Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. And of course, gun control freaks are slavering at the mouth.

Heh. Read this by Knoxville's Dr. Glenn Reynolds, Professor of Law at the University of Tennessee...

To be clear, if you're using this event to criticize the "rhetoric" of Mrs. Palin or others with whom you disagree, then you're either: (a) asserting a connection between the "rhetoric" and the shooting, which based on evidence to date would be what we call a vicious lie; or (b) you're not, in which case you're just seizing on a tragedy to try to score unrelated political points, which is contemptible. Which is it?

Oh, and they've discovered a 'skull shrine' in Loughner's back yard, complete with a human skull and candles, which makes him a Democrat, because he's obviously not an EVIL CHRISTIAN WHITE MAN anymore, but one who 'reaches out' and embraces alternative religions.

By: house_of_pain on 1/10/11 at 7:59

Loner, did you see the story I posted on your blog?

By: yogiman on 1/10/11 at 8:05

Mr. Adams owns the Titans. It's his business and his business only as to who is coaching and playing for HIS team. Accept his team or pick another one. All are losers at sometimes in their lives, including you gripers.

By: dargent7 on 1/10/11 at 8:08

I just feel sorry for the parents whose kids are all going to be staying home for the week!
Why, in my early days in Michigan, we walked in 3 ft. of snow to school. Uphill, both ways.
Even if I had cancer spread to all my internal organs, I never would miss ONE day of school.
And, I graduated with the lowest possible honors, but graduated.
The whole state is on lock-down....brings back fond memories of the penitentury.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/10/11 at 8:52

It looks like Loner has hit a never of our deranged pig boy. It was just the other day that he posted this:

I left a comment on Bob Rich's column yesterday at the NYT that was actually published, reproduced here for yogi...
I read these comments wherein people express angry hatreds for the 'rich', a sentiment obviously shared by many of the new-Left Democrats. There's no disapproval expressed for these sentiments from Democrat 'leaders'; instead, they exploit these basest of human emotions, greed and envy, to advance their political agendas. Hatred, greed and envy are not sentiments that will drive an agenda that will turn this Republic around.

We were not, nor have we ever been, a Nation that embraces the political agenda now endorsed by the Left. We are (were) a nation of strong character that was influenced by ruthlessness when necessary. We scrabbled our way out in front and on top not by being soft and gentle at home, but by being hard and competitive. We've lost much of our edge, our 'American Spirit'.

Remember, we came out of the Great Depression only because we became embroiled in a world war, a war that put almost every American to work. We were all aligned politically behind a threat. There is no way that'll ever happen again.

At risk of howls of mirth from the 'enlightened' Democrats who are also mostly atheists, we've turned our back on God; we've become a strikingly secular nation that no longer needs help from some sky spirit who doesn't exist except in the fevered mind of Conservatives. He's never done anything for us, ever, obviously; why should we allow our thoughts to stray to such imaginary foolhardiness?

Why, indeed? Look around you. This Republic is going to fail, and will be reduced to smoldering rubble, maybe in our lifetimes.

We should never have turned away from the paths of strength and American Spirit and away from our belief in God, and embraced the weaknesses that will likely result in our downfall.

Either pray or laugh. Your choice. There's not much else to do at this juncture, really.
Hang in there, those of you who are still 'Good Men and Women'.

This murder appears to be the lone act of a derange person that pulled the trigger, but there are plenty of deranged people out there and they are being encouraged to act on the call to arms by TV personalities. Should people like Limbaugh, Beck and Paling be held partly to blame for the murder of a nine year old child along with five others, plus the wounding of others or will it be just one of those things that gets swept under the rug?

I know the tea bagger (the political group) will be giving their song a dance explanation as to way they should not be held responsible. Or perhaps that song and dance will be that all side does it. Maybe this is true, but not all sides have Limbaugh who only cries for the destruction of the left. Beck’s works for a television network that only caters is to damn any liberal and progressive thinking. Palin is riding high on that same tune and using such phrase as Pit Bull with lipstick, Mommy Grizzly or using the cross hairs of a gun to target Democratic seats and making money as she does.

Limbaugh, Beck and Palin have the right for “Free Speech” but free speech goes along with responsibility for that action.

"All are loser"

Does this mean that even the great and all-knowing Lizard of Gordonsville is a loser and a griper?

By: slacker on 1/10/11 at 9:14

I was just outside in the snow, helping build a snowman. I slipped and fell on my arse, and then pretended to make a snow angel. Quick thinking I'd say. Now I shall make some rum snow ice cream.

By: bfra on 1/10/11 at 9:15

Nemo - yogi's comment made about as much sense as today's comment, being put under the Letter's topic!

By: Captain Nemo on 1/10/11 at 9:21

You are correct about that bfra and slacker has got the right idea. Lets go make a drunk snowman.

By: dargent7 on 1/10/11 at 9:27

Nemo: IMO, the most culpable is Palin.
She will never live down her "SarahPAC" chart of the USA with cross-hairs as "targets", and 3 were in AZ.
If that shooter had that chart on his wall, that would be great.
I cannot believe he didn't kill himself with the last round, but he was loading a 2nd clip when he was tackled.
30 magazine clips. For self-defense?

By: bfra on 1/10/11 at 9:29

slacker - I don't have any rum, do ya think bourbon would work? lol

By: slacker on 1/10/11 at 9:39

bfra, yes bourbon is an acceptable substitute. Just don't use any liquor that is yellow in color.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/10/11 at 9:43

I am almost sure that the fringe right will blame Obama for this. I wonder how Limbaugh will word this attack against the left. I guess that I will have to hear his program today.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/10/11 at 9:45

Wise advice slacker. Wise advice.

I spent a week in Iowa and when I get back it snows here. Awesome.

I miss the panic over snow.

By: dargent7 on 1/10/11 at 10:04

Palin, Limbaugh, Hannity & Co. are thinking long and hard on how to deal with this.
So is the NRA.
The "right" is mentally unstable, but even they can see a Limbaugh for who he is.
I hope.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/10/11 at 10:09

Most fitting, house.

By: house_of_pain on 1/10/11 at 10:09

gd, I hope you've got plenty of milk, bread, & duct tape on hand.

By: gdiafante on 1/10/11 at 10:14

No they aren't, darge. They don't give a damn about what their "audience" does, as long as they keep selling books, etc.

By: gdiafante on 1/10/11 at 10:15

We sent to the Kroger on Cason Lane in M'boro last night, they were completely out of milk. Now, if I were stranded in my house for a week, I'd rather have beer.

By: Funditto on 1/10/11 at 10:17

The shooter was crazy through and through. Trying to politicize his actions is just as insane. However, I'm hoping Rush, Beck et al with tone down their hate speak until we know for sure what was going on with this nut.
There's not denying Palin's PAC put sitemarks on certain folks for voted for healthcare reform. She even wrote "don't retreat, instead reload."

By: serr8d on 1/10/11 at 10:17

Quick quiz for the denizens of NCP!

Who uttered this famous quote, whilst campaigning in Philthydelphia, June 14, 2008, speaking of political rivals ?

“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,”

Ab-so-lute-ly heinous rhetoric! Surely you can condemn that!

Was it

A) Sarah Palin
B) Rush Limbaugh
C) Glenn Beck
D) Barack Obama
E) Captain Nemo (well, a giveaway answer; the real speaker could at least spell)

If you answered
D) BARACK OBAMA you win!

...now you were saying what about the right wing ?

By: Captain Nemo on 1/10/11 at 10:17

Last night I stop at my locale grocery store and bought a gallon of milk and bread and two cans of stew. Casually I said to the clerk that I was doing my panic shopping.

By: treefrogdk on 1/10/11 at 10:18

whatever... i was to understand thast the pervert was methodically shooting at people in line, and yet he shot a nine year old girl?!? why has he not been publicly (televised) executed by now?

By: serr8d on 1/10/11 at 10:19

By: Funditto on 1/10/11 at 10:19

I wonder if Serr8d and his cronies would be crying free speech if Palin had been the victim. Somehow, I doubt it.

By: Funditto on 1/10/11 at 10:21

I think I change my user name to that when the time comes.

Oh, and BTW - the nut's gun was legal.

By: gdiafante on 1/10/11 at 10:28

The difference is that intelligent people see that Obama wasn't speaking literally. Right wing nuts can't make that distinction. See Arizona.

By: bfra on 1/10/11 at 10:29

serr8d - “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,”

Smart man!

By: Captain Nemo on 1/10/11 at 10:30

Here is a quiz for you pig boy.

How many Republicans died after that was said? How may 9 year old girls died.

By: gdiafante on 1/10/11 at 10:31

I'm actually surprised there hasn't been more of this type of thing.

By: treefrogdk on 1/10/11 at 10:32

nemo, you must have read "pale horse coming"

By: Captain Nemo on 1/10/11 at 10:32

I told you that the fringe would blame Obama and there is no one out there farther than the Gay Blade.

By: Captain Nemo on 1/10/11 at 10:40

There maybe more gdia. Once the fringe get started shooting then there will be more to follow. I wonder if the FBI is watching pig boy’s blog. He may not have the rocks to do it himself, but I am sure that he will encourage other to do his bidding.

By: bfra on 1/10/11 at 10:40

Golly, what sane person would want to go against a gun, with a knife?

By: Funditto on 1/10/11 at 10:40

I'm typing comments on an Iphone. Plz excuse my errors!

By: Captain Nemo on 1/10/11 at 10:42

No treefrog I never have.

By: gdiafante on 1/10/11 at 10:44

I think he was paraphrasing a famous quote from "The Untouchables", wasn't he? Why isn't serr8d blaming Sean Connery?
