Love sick

There are many letters and comments swirling concerning the Steve McNair tragic homicide.

Many armchair psychiatrists and Bible quoting parishioners, well-intentioned people, feel they know all the why's, how's and therefores.

“Playing with fire,” “God's retribution,” “a woman scorned” and the like.

With the forensic evidence, this woman took a love affair way too far.

I can remember countless stories of jilted girlfriends who take the sane approach when a Hollywood celebrity or NFL athlete cuts the relationship off. They burn down his house, sue him blind in court or date his teammate. Maybe all three.

Whatever Mr. McNair is accused of in popular opinion doesn't matter. What Sahel Kazemi allegedly did doesn't come close to resolving a relationship gone bad, regardless of the circumstances.

In life, you walk away. At 20, there will be many more opportunities to fail at love.

ABC: Consumer Confidence Nears ALL TIME LOW

Ben, I've been on that French Broad a few times myself.

Ok, air conditioner went out so we hung out at Target all night. When we got home watched the greatest 80's one hit wonders....number one was "Come on Eileen"....thoughts?

By: house_of_pain on 7/9/09 at 8:24

I'd rather not discuss that song...

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/9/09 at 8:24

bummer, g. you know, i never could figure out the whole hillbilly atire in the "Eileen" video. aren't they irish or something?

By: slacker on 7/9/09 at 8:25

Who invented barb wire?

By: gdiafante on 7/9/09 at 8:26

They are Irish but the lead singer said that it was just clothes, they didn't intend to create a fashion. It's a good song, I don't know that it's the best one-hit wonder of the entire decade though...

By: sidneyames on 7/9/09 at 8:27

"This isn't "Romeo & Juliet". It's so self absorbed, pathological, and narrcissitic. And her family and friends didn't know of her despair? She couldn't reach out to anyone? This is the answer ? I just wonder the the religious undertones that played into her decision". D-7, watch out. We are agreeing again. And I can tell you this: she probably killed herself because she had weighed out the death penalty, life without parole or spending years on death row because this was a premeditated, cold blooded murder. She probably figured that shooting herself would elicite sympathy and she was right. Except I don't feel sorry for her and I'm glad she did the state's job. Slacker, you said "studies have shown, mentally ill young girls, are more attractive than old, wrinkled up, mentally ill broads". Hmmm what about those young botoxed, methed up girls? I think they are dangerous. And besides "old, wrinkled up mentally ill broads" have their own bank accounts and don't need sugar daddies like the young ones do. But then the paper said "Jenny" or whoever she was, had to pay for her own car payments. Now that makes her stupid. If she was putting out to Steve AND paying her own car payment. That's messed up!

By: gdiafante on 7/9/09 at 8:29

I think sid just confessed that she's an old, wrinkled up mentally ill broad...

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/9/09 at 8:30

*hides after g's statement*

By: house_of_pain on 7/9/09 at 8:31

...and she "puts out"...

By: chiefpayne568 on 7/9/09 at 8:31

LOL NOW they do the math. Well, better late than never, I suppose.

PROMISES, PROMISES: Obama tax pledge unrealistic

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090708/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_obama_tax_promise

"President Barack Obama promised to fix health care and trim the federal budget deficit, all without raising taxes on anyone but the wealthiest Americans. It's a promise he's already broken and will likely have to break again."

By: Captain Nemo on 7/9/09 at 8:33

sid is just upset because Steve would not give her a second look.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/9/09 at 8:34

uh, not necessarily.....

By: slacker on 7/9/09 at 8:34

sidney, rumor is you had an affair with Par Boone. Correct?

By: BenDover on 7/9/09 at 8:35

That song has one of the best all time lyrics in it:

"Come on Eileen, I swear, at this moment, you mean everything... " ... had a girlfriend back then that hated it.

I still don't understand why this was blocked...makes sense to me.

By: BenDover on 7/9/09 at 8:36

Well duh, bn... my pocket protector is white with the INITECH logo of course.

By: gdiafante on 7/9/09 at 8:38

Hmmm...there is a verse from GnR's "It's so easy" that always made women VERY upset...

"you get nothing for nothing if that's what you do
turn around ***** I got a use for you
and you've got nothing better to do
and I'm bored"

It's very subtle...

huh. i never paid THAT much attention to the song's lyrics. hmm. i can see why that would be irritating. right up there with "well, i meant it when i said it."

By: gdiafante on 7/9/09 at 8:51

If those lyrics are considered irritating, what do you think of "This magic moment"?

By: house_of_pain on 7/9/09 at 8:52

"Paradise by the Dashboard Lights"?

By: gdiafante on 7/9/09 at 8:53

"Only the good die young"?

By: house_of_pain on 7/9/09 at 8:54

"I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts"?

By: BenDover on 7/9/09 at 8:56

"... So now I'm prayin' for the end of time... to hurry up and arrive.. 'cause if I got to spend another minute with you I don't think that I could really survive... "

By: chiefpayne568 on 7/9/09 at 8:56

Ben,

And is the Federal Reserve not under the authority of Congress? Why then is there a problem with an audit? We look at CBO all the time...why not have an independent audit?

Keeping track of this doesn't necessarily mean it would be under political influence, does it?

By: BenDover on 7/9/09 at 8:57

At least those are better than 'she bop' and 'Imaginary lover'.

By: Captain Nemo on 7/9/09 at 8:59

Dead skunk in the middle of the road.

Like the GOP is today. lol

By: BenDover on 7/9/09 at 9:01

I'm not sure chief but I know the intention is for it to be above political influence and a politically biased congress could have a ton of influence with mandatory reporting requirements and the like. I don't have time to research now but there are controls in place. Let me know if you get a chance to look it up.

By: gdiafante on 7/9/09 at 9:01

They are good songs, Ben. love the verse in "Only the Good Die Young"...

"some say there's a heaven for those that'll wait
some say it's better but I say it ain't
I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
The sinners are much more fun...only the good die young"

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/9/09 at 9:03

g, those are some of my all time favorite lyrics too!

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/9/09 at 9:06

Or, Eve 6....

Rendevous then I'm through with you.

By: BenDover on 7/9/09 at 9:07

If you'll notice though the dollar is holding pretty well against other currencies. It's US debt we're having trouble selling and are having to pay so much more in interest to sell.

Seem the bond-buyers / holders don't like the kind of investments this adminstration wants to make with the money. This really hurts us, too, because over time it drives up the cost of our existing debt too.

If The Obama's ego ever subsides he may have a very bitter pill to swallow in the form of his disruption of a very delicate economic balance.

I love Louden Wainwright III, Nemo.

Sid: In the old days, we were at each others' throats. Currently, you've agreed with me three times in 4 months. Careful, there will be talk.

By: house_of_pain on 7/9/09 at 9:11

"Sex Type Thing" is one of my favorites.

By: BenDover on 7/9/09 at 9:12

I'm a big billy joel fan, G. Great song to be sure.

By: Captain Nemo on 7/9/09 at 9:12

I do too, Ben.

By: Captain Nemo on 7/9/09 at 9:15

Too late dargent. There is already talk.

By: dargent7 on 7/9/09 at 9:16

I'm not going to beat a dead horse, but this double murder/ suicide is reminiscent of what Ward Churchill and other freaks said about the 9/11 attacks. Calling them "warriors". She an out-to- lunch nut case. I'm sure her family is spinning her "plight", but think about what it takes to shoot a human in both temples and twice to the chest, and then put a gun to your own head? At 20? At least wait until you hit 40 or 50. Then you know with certainty life's over.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/9/09 at 9:19

i don't know that i agree, dargent. i just think she was a garden variety mentally ill person.

By: Captain Nemo on 7/9/09 at 9:19

Suicide is the lack of hope.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/9/09 at 9:19

you know that old saying about hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
