Clean up the dirty laundry

Now that most of the noted late entertainers, athletes and actors have been praised, vilified or sanctified by their worshipers, foes, fans and the media maybe I can call off my self imposed moratorium on the news media — television mostly — and all the hype from supposed close friends such as Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton, whom I believe are just up to their usual game of grabbing the spotlight for themselves.

The coverage of Michael Jackson’s life and death has been the most shameful thing in the annals of news coverage. It has been a full-blown circus and irreverent tidal wave that has shown little mercy or compassion toward the family nor has it given them time to grieve privately.

Here in Nashville, the death of Steve McNair was shocking enough, but to air his dirty laundry the way it was done caused his wife and children the pain and suffering of adding insult to injury for his family.

It is extremely depressing to know that the mainstream media has gone ‘tabloid’ and are willing to exploit personal disasters regardless of harm inflicted just for ratings.

As or me, I am having none of it and will not listen to it anymore.
