Number 1 and Number 2
The daily revelations of the secrecy and misdeeds of Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld without any constitutional authority to do any of it reminds me of the Austin Powers movie adventures with Cheney and Rumsfeld closely paralleling "Dr. Evil" (for Cheney, note the actual resemblance) and Number 2, his comrade in crime.
[We’ll leave the role of Mini Me to a confused President Bush who was not even cognizant of anything that was going on.]
This Bush mob has stained our country forever and their comedic evil can in no way can ever be considered funny as the Austin Powers movies were intended to be. Enough has already been revealed that war crimes trials should on the table, but it seems that the American people don't stand much of a chance at receiving justice.
President Obama should insist that the justice department proceed in that direction. If not, it will be hard to proceed into the future with hope or any kind of standards if the crimes of the past are allowed to evaporate for the sake of moving ahead.

Dargent,
I said lawful orders. I do what I'm lawfully ordered to do. The Nazi did what they were told to do, regardless of whether it was lawful or not. BIG difference...except to those who want to project a Nazi attitude on their own military, I guess.
Slack: Forget the Sally Field "Bone" pills. I highly recommend Dr. D'Argent's Boner Pills....with beer of course. Wait an hour, then find a willing participant on Broadway and 2nd.
Oh come on Chief: Just state the obvious, and quit hiding behind the "shield". Now you're a semantics major who wants to knit-pick over "lawful" and "ordered"? I cannot believe you believe what you post. The war is right or wrong. You simply cannot "organize" the truth.
dargent, I'm sensitive and try to help out. Those old chicks have to take Sally Field bone pills, or they will get irritated, and collapse like a cheap suit.
Sally says so.
Good Day. I just got back from Memphis.
First off it is a good letter dooley. I have a different person in mind from Mini Me, but it is your letter.
I see that the little man still can not or will not distinguish between Afgahistan (The Real War)and Iraq (The War For OIL and Revenge).
Dargent,
The problem is, it is not within my perview to determine if a war is right or not. I simply fight them. Should the soldiers of Korea said the war wasn't right and so refused to obey orders?
An Army lives by discipline...if you cannot maintain that, then anarchy ensues. Sorry you don't like that, but that is the way it is.
Slack: I think dating Burt Reynolds messed up her mind. Flying around house tops in a Nun's Habit didn't help either.
This is a win in Afghan as it has been for the Russians ,British and every country that has went to war in Afghan has lost,it does look like it taking the America;s war machine longer than it did all those other countries.
It was never a problem in whipping Afghan's before until we got into it it been a big problem in govern Afghan. Its a problem has been Afghan it to big and not enough people to rule. We can win in Afghan but afghan has never been concurred
That is why Afghan's elders just wait for the ruling country to go home in a few years the Afghan goes back to the way it was before it was invading by others. IWe can look for them to do it again this time.
Where is Osama ben Laden is he in Afghan or is he in Pakinistan we also know what would happen if we killed Ben Laden we would have to leave, why we do not want to leave dam if i know why. We must wonder if the Cheney Bush government did not send warning to him every time we bombs where he had just been. Again if Bush had not wanting Osma Ben Laden to be capture for he wanting to be God's order for him to be known as the WAR president appointed by God in place of the fool president history will award him as being.
Bush took his eyes off Afgahistan for three reason. Revenge, Oil and fot the fact he could not focus on why we were in Afghanistan.
This is an interesting take on the current situation.
The Party of ‘No’ in 2010

What is a "Lawful Orders?" Does that mean tourcher can be "Lawful Oderes?"
Nemo,
Orders within the preview of the Uniform Code of Military Justice which was written by Congress.
Torture, aka interrogation, could be within the bounds of lawful orders, depending on what is specifically done. And of course, it would depend on whether it was military forces doing the interrogation or civilian...because of course the UCMJ is only enacted on military personnel.
The problem we find is that the term torture is not specifically defined, as far as I've been able to ascertain. But then I am not a member of the US Intelligence Agency either.
Chief: Want I want to say and communicate to you is way above my pay grade. I look at this board as Jr. High School, and that's a stretch. You go off to fight your wars, don't question authority, don't make moral judgments, don't think for yourself.
Follow your "orders" as if they came from the Bible or God Almighty Himself. But, be very aware, you are personally culpable by your actions. Saying, "I was following orders" when history has shown time and again it's politics that dominate America, doesn't get you off the hook. I do believe you enjoy it, anyway. You wouldn't have it any other way.
Make it up as you go along? Good policy.
Then the code of terrorist....touture, beheading or bombings done by Taliban and other assassins would be legal?
Dargent,
I do believe in what I do in service of the US. Sorry if that offends you but it's the truth. A lot of good people are in the service and I am proud to count myself among them.
So, put us down all you like...we do a rough job that very few in the US wants to do. We do it better than most other country's armies in the world could do it. We are proud of our place in America and are proud of our fellow soldiers.
You're right...I wouldn't have it any other way.
dargent, i don't think chief has the capability to think for himself. that's why he just regurgitates links and refuses to engage any critical thinking skills.
he thinks Bush was a great president and Obama is an idiot, he believes in the Guy in the Sky and he's confident that his teenage daughter practices abstinance only.
Nemo,
Nope...that falls on your Government to make up laws and policy.
BTW, last time I looked, we didn't behead any prisoner or specifically target non-combatants like the Taliban do.
The little man is programed like a good automaton. It it knows what has been programed into crosswired jello brain.
Nemo,
You just cannot accept losing an argument, can you? Ah well, juvenile behavior is expected from you by now anyway.
Go kill the baby chief!! It is order from command.
Nemo, how was Memphis? Did you have any BBQ?
Chief: The US Military isn't the patriotic "shield" it once was. It's 2009 and a half, and with global instantaneous communications, all people can access correct information. I'm not putting you "down", I'm just asking have you asked the relevant questions...not even questioned authority...but "THOUGHT IT OUT"? Your answer, sadly, is NO. You follow orders. But I also think you like the violence, warfare, the power, the killing. You know it's wrong, but hide behind the "I'm an American", moniker. I know that's your pay grade and you like it. Otherwise you'd be doing something else.
Nemo, I finally figured out why chief is so on the whole abortion thing. I've never had an abortion but he has technically speaking murdered millions of babies each time he spilled his seed. So, who's the hypocrit?
Nemo,
Unlawful order, Nemo. But then, since you obviously haven't been in the military, or if you have, you didn't learn much about the UCMJ, I expect you didn't know that.
dargent, thinking requires responsibility obviously. i agree that it is much easier for some people to not think and "follow orders."
India turned down Hillarys overture to lower carbon emissions.
Spilled his seed, lol nazi
slacker, the question now is how many of them had Downs Syndrome?
Discipline requires following orders...as long as those orders are lawfully given. I would think those of you here would prefer a disciplined military as opposed to one that could follow whatever orders are given and simply take out whomever their superiors choose.
You have not giving me any logical arguments.
You can not except that Iraq was a mistake, because if you did then you would have to admit that you was wrong. And you can never do that, because you think yourself perfect.
nazi, thou art going biblical on us.
slacker, i was trying to think of a way to get my point across without being too graphic! LOL! plus, i figured that was a language he could understand.
Nemo,
Why would I have an issue with Iraq? It would not be me or the US Army that was wrong...it would have been the President, the Congress and much of the American people who were wrong. We were sent to do a job and we did it.
I am hardly perfect...far from it in fact. But to put the blame on the military for something that they were ordered to do by the President with Congressional approval and the backing of the public is insane.
what blanket said.
The baby is suspected of having a bomb. Kill the baby, chief.

Hey Chief - I like your links. Many are things I've missed in my own news perusal but needed to know to stay informed.
On a side note, which is more important to the Taliban and the war chiefs; Islam or their drug trade? Seems they didn't mind us being there too much until we started eradicating the poppy fields.
see more dog and puppy pictures
Kill the baby chief. The law has been changed. It is alright to kill the baby. NOW KILL THAT DAMN BABY!!!!
nice link, Funditto.
8~)
Nemo, it's only good to kill non-Christian babies.

he thinks Bush was a great president and Obama is an idiot, he believes in the Guy in the Sky and he's confident that his teenage daughter practices abstinance only.
Blanket, up until the scoolyard comments above tend to kick the child everybody else is kicking without really knowing why, I used to have a lot of respect for you.
Now, not so much.
Sad that.
oh, and "welfare" babies.
no big loss for me, CAH.
CAH,
Thanks. Nice to know someone reads them.
Actually that's a good question. In Afghanistan, the people are pretty dependent on growing the poppy to make a living. Islam is very important...but starving is high up there too. I would say growing a crop to make a living takes priority...but Islam is a close second.
BTW, we actually started a bank there...the first one they've ever had. Took our finance guys some time to explain how it works...but it seems to be working quite well there now.
CAH, do you still respect chief for telling me that I would abort my Downs Syndrome child if given the opportunity?
Sad that.
CAH,
Blanket is still angry with me so she will resort to such things. Just let it go...that's what I do.
chief KILL THE BABY!!
Blanket,
1. I said given your position on abortion, I would be surprised you'd keep it.
2. I've already apologized for offending you.
Sad that you cannot accept an apology.
Nemo,
Sorry but I'm anti-abortion.
