Letters to the Editor

Are you kidding me?

The audacity of someone complaining about Virginia Trimble not writing thank-you notes really is coming from a jerk.

She had 33 days of hell in her home during the time [her daughter was missing] and someone wanting a thank-you note just wanted recognition that they were either doing their job or giving out of goodness.

Just knowing they helped should have been thanks enough.

Virginia apologized at the news conference after [Jerome] Barrett was convicted of killing her daughter 34 years ago. This woman has been fighting emotion for three and a half decades and now needs to be able to be at ease and know that Marcia’s killer is now known and locked up for life.

This story is certainly tragic. Usually, after decades, DNA FREES the incarcerated person. This time, great police work and a chance match in the DNA database proved otherwise. Bennett thought he got away with murder. How did he sleep?

By: dargent7 on 7/21/09 at 6:25

Sorry, Barrett...I'm sure Mr. Bennett is a fine person.

d7, I believe I paid you a compliment once.
Where's my d@mn 'thank you' note?!

By: dargent7 on 7/21/09 at 6:55

"House": I didn't want to bring this up, but, at the McNair thread I do believe "HokeyPokey" called you a "semi-trained monkey". Or was it addressed to me? Either way, it's fitting.

Well, I do hold a certification in the animal husbandry field...

Okay chief, here's today's scenario:
A terrorist has strapped a bomb to your lunchbox; what do you do?
Skipping lunch is not an option.

By: chiefpayne568 on 7/21/09 at 8:13

House,

Call the police bomb squad and go out to lunch...somewhere nice perhaps...and maybe within view so I can watch what happens.

By: dargent7 on 7/21/09 at 8:22

d'pain: Chief carries a "lunchbox"? Is it the one with The Monkees or The Musters on it?

By: chiefpayne568 on 7/21/09 at 8:27

Gee, what a shock! Stimulus indeed!

Classified information, d7. But I can't believe he would so easily walk away from an egg salad sandwich & two home-made cookies, packed with love, by Mrs. chief.
What kind of monster does that?

By: dargent7 on 7/21/09 at 8:28

OK., There's a new segment in our daily discussions. I was just playing with gd., but he's been a "no-show", so I'll put it out there. Kinda like Uncle Nemo's "Verbal Cartoon". By: Captain Nemo on 7/21/09 at 8:54

It is a little known fact that Ted Kaczynski tried to use the railroad looking lunches box to send out his package. However he he found it cheaper to use cardboard box, because they are lighter and don't cost as much.

The decision had been expected, as presidentially appointed task forces have failed to meet a six-month schedule for making policy recommendations on how terror suspects should be interrogated, held in custody or handed over to other countries."

Hey Mills, if you work at a for profit prison, the blanketnazi, is gonna have issues.

By: BenDover on 7/21/09 at 9:56

Chief... the FrontPage article misses the reality about liberals. They are not driven by a logic that prefers egalitarianism.

It's not often I have a paradigm shift in my world view; but I have, for years, wondered why liberals, so illogically and irrationally, sought to destroy the economic engine that funds their cherished programs. You can explain work/reward cycle and the benefits of the risk, investment, and hard work that are a result of the profit motive until you are blue in the face but it NEVER phases them.

But when you understand their religion is government; it makes sense that taxation is not to achieve stated liberal goals... instead taxation, itself, IS THE GOAL and represents a penance for perceived sins. Liberal programs are just the means to justify exacting the punishment of taxation on the sin of success.

Excellent article... a must-read.
