Council counsel

I voted for you [The City Paper’s publisher Chris Ferrell] many times for Metro Council. I think you've done a great job at The City Paper. Why don't you run a piece comparing the Metro Council that you were in to Council today?

Do we have too many councilpersons? Is it possible to cut that number back? How many councilpersons do cities with similar populations have? Is the Council effective or are they just a rubber stamp for the mayor?

An in depth article on this matter would be most elucidating. I hope to read it soon.

One armed, one legged guy, (who is not a veteran) walks into a bar...

By: chiefpayne568 on 7/22/09 at 1:33

Slacker,

Ok...gotta ask...HOW did he WALK into a bar with one leg???

Use the good arm as a leg?

Blanket: Chief reminds me of those religious "recruiters" that were on my college campus. You had the Mormons, Hare Krishna's, Jehova Witness's, Scientologist's, and a couple of Baptist's who were obviously lost. Anyway, they ALL said: "This is THE way". Read this, read that, oh, read this too. On and on. They all believed they were doing the right thing, and HAD to do it, their MISSION. "Chief" believes in "orders" and has to do it. If the US gov't says, "Take out that village", he will. "Kill 'em all", he will. He doesn't question, it's his "job". I have NO idea where his mind is at.

You don't like it? Don't read my posts.

Don't worry, chief. Nobody does.

"Chief" believes in "orders" and has to do it. If the US gov't says, "Take out that village", he will. "Kill 'em all", he will. He doesn't question, it's his "job". I have NO idea where his mind is at.

Yeah, I don't understand people like that either. Frightening, isn't it? He's got a lot of pent up anger and resentment, doesn't he?

By: slacker on 7/22/09 at 1:43

chief, he back flips, requires delicate balance.

By: chiefpayne568 on 7/22/09 at 1:44

Blanket,

For people who don't read my posts, you all certainly comment a lot on them...like this one for instance.

LOL

LOL I have a lot of pent up anger and resentment??? You guys should read your own posts too! LOL

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/22/09 at 1:45

slacker, John Kerry jokes are SO yesterday. LOL!

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/22/09 at 1:45

someone get chief a straight jacket. he's doing that creepy cackling laugh again.

By: chiefpayne568 on 7/22/09 at 1:47

Slacker,

And precision, I would assume. Pray continue.

By: chiefpayne568 on 7/22/09 at 1:48

Blanket,

Then stop using them, Blanket!

As for a straight jacket, I know you'd be happy to loan me yours but I assume you still need it...well, that and your meds too.

Interesting commentary of we expected before and after Obama's election.

It Wasn’t Supposed to Be This Hard

nazi, you are not really gonna spend good beer money, to see that hokey Greenday are you? Say it ain't so.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/22/09 at 2:13

slacker, the nosebleed seats were $20 and I'm scared of heights, so yes, I'll be spending that $20 on pints instead. not a bad trade, i suppose.

By: Funditto on 7/22/09 at 2:15

Chief we read your posts but not your godforsaken links.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/22/09 at 2:21

Funditto, chief has become so insufferable it makes me miss id! LOL!

By: dargent7 on 7/22/09 at 2:29

Chief: It's all philosophy and conjecture, this one's belief's vs. that one's. But, we on this forum DO NOT KILL ANYONE. We joke around alot. You seem to do (kill) , and like it. Because you're "following orders" is the weakest argument. The one tied for 1st place in the insanity defense is, "I'm fighting for our freedoms". Actually, it's a three way tie. "If we don't fight then there, we have to fight them here". Who, the locals? They will never accept American dominance. Nothing you crack pots can do in Afghanistan or Iraq (after 7 years) can affect my "freedoms". Obama and my gov't can affect my freedoms, just fine, thank you. Not the military's war machine.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/22/09 at 2:37

dargent, did you ever read Peter Straub's book, "Koko"?

By: dargent7 on 7/22/09 at 2:43

Blanket: No, but I read "The Wizard of Oz"...does that count?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/22/09 at 2:47

LOL! Well, I guesso.

By: slacker on 7/22/09 at 2:49

nazi, was that about the Gorillo that spoke fluent French?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/22/09 at 2:50

No. There was a gorilla named Koko, but this is a horror/mystery book written by Peter Straub that is the story of some vets who returned from Vietnam.

By: slacker on 7/22/09 at 2:58

nazi, I don;t think you can compare periods. The Vietnam army, was mostly an army of draftees. Today's army is volunteers.

By: dargent7 on 7/22/09 at 2:59

Nazix2: I don't want to read anything about Vietnam, ever. Just read Robert McNamara's account of Vietnam and had to shoot several squirrels that were staring at me.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/22/09 at 3:00

i wasn't drawing a comparison between the draftees. that wasn't the point. i guess you're not familiar with the book.

By: slacker on 7/22/09 at 3:04

No, but I did have a conversation with the gorilla.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/22/09 at 3:05

i bet it was more compelling than some of the conversations here, huh?

By: slacker on 7/22/09 at 3:08

Yes, but I felt the constant chest pounding, was a bit boring.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/22/09 at 3:09

you mean here or with Koko?

By: slacker on 7/22/09 at 3:15

Here of course. Koko's little finger was up whilst sipping tea, truly cultured.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/22/09 at 3:22

LOL, that's what I thought.

By: Funditto on 7/22/09 at 3:26

I read KOKO. Stephen King's imagination is unparalleled but frightening. The Shining is my fave.

Dargent, will you come over to my yard and shoot some squirrels. They are irritating me.

What happened to ID? And serr8d and plantsman (who I'm convinced is in jail)?

I'm not around much anymore these days either. Did I miss some drama?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/22/09 at 3:28

no, not that i'm aware of. id still shows up occasionally. haven't seen serr8d or plantsman since Obama was elected. maybe they're cell mates. or one of them is now chief. not sure.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/22/09 at 3:29

i don't see much of ycartrob either. or neartheloveless.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/22/09 at 3:31

well, now i know why gdiafante is MIA today.....

Around 7 a.m., employees at K&N Trucking, 8205 E Adamo Drive, discovered two of their tractor trailers were missing. Oh, and they were both loaded with beer.

You guy's see this Sen. Paul Stanley "stepped down" as something, over an extorsion affair, but is married and has two kids? When I saw the name, "Paul Stanley", I thought, "Oh, so that's where the lead singer of KISS has been hanging out.

By: slacker on 7/22/09 at 3:44

nazi, no no.. gdiafante has been busy, memorizing every word spoken by John Lennon from birth to age 14.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/22/09 at 3:45

HA - that's what I just thought, dargent. well, first Ronnie then Arnie, so why not, right?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 7/22/09 at 3:47

slacker, i thought he did that last week. i figured maybe today had to do with hockey somehow.

By: slacker on 7/22/09 at 3:50

No, hockey Groupie day is fri.

By: Funditto on 7/22/09 at 4:01
