Don’t pay for abortions with our taxes

Like many families across the country, my own family is struggling to make ends meet, pay the bills and fill up the car with gas. Now President Obama wants to tax my family even more to pay for the trillion-dollar health care bill.

But that’s not the worst of it. He is mandating that abortion be covered under the health care plan, meaning that my family will be paying for abortions, whether we want to or not.

Whether or not I am pro-life or pro-choice is irrelevant. Abortion does not fall under the guise of health care and is not a right. I believe it is my choice to decide whether or not I should be funding abortion and whether or not I should be forced to fund it under bureaucrat-run health care.

Tell Congress to vote against any proposal that forces Americans to pay for abortion.

Obama thinks that getting pregnant is a punishment. Did you not here is comment about his daughter during the campaign?

By: Captain Nemo on 8/3/09 at 3:54

Good morning.

From God

The people of Nashville, Tennessee your punishment is a plague of idgaf post.

By: daKine7 on 8/3/09 at 4:52

A) This is the 9th LTE on health care. It's getting old.
B) Abortion is a woman's right to choose. If Sarah Palin get's an unwanted pregnancy at 43 and at 11 weeks is told the child has Down Syndrome, and decides to carry full term, that's her decision. I don't want her or anyone else to proclaim or mandate, "the world needs more Trigs".

Michelle, you don't have the right to know about other people's medical procedures.
I, too, am sick of this same debate. We need some fresh topics.

By: dargent7 on 8/3/09 at 5:44

These rabid anti-abortion LTE's and proponets make me crazy. Case in point: Sarah Palin types: when asked, by Katie Couric, if abortion was justified under any circumstances, she resoundedly said, "No". Even if raped? "I'd provide counseling".
Even if a white woman was raped by a black man? "I'd provide counseling". A young girl raped by her father, ie., incest? "I'd provide counseling".
People, mostly old white men, I have a question for you: Are you kidding me?

By: Schuss on 8/3/09 at 5:56

I am also tired of this debate. Let's just poop-can the whole heathcare reform idiocracy and, while we're at it, the ID-10-T pushing it...

By: Kosh III on 8/3/09 at 5:57

Someone is gonna say it sooner or later so I'll go ahead and get it out of the way:

I DON"T WANT MY TAXMONEY GOING TO FUND THE WAR TO LIBERATE IRAQI OIL!

We now resume our regular postings already in progress...

By: dargent7 on 8/3/09 at 6:07

Kosh III: We pulled out of Iraq and ONLY have 135,000 troops left. We're now embarking on a more insane invasion of Afghanistan. Up to 65,000 troops there now, and the "commanders" say we need 150,000, minimum to "complete the job, ie., WIN". Here we go again. Can you say, "Another trillion"?

By: Kosh III on 8/3/09 at 6:11

We should pull every last one our of Iraq, and Afghanistan and Europe and Korea and Japan and dismantle the military-industrial complex.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/3/09 at 6:17

It appears to me that the right-wing fringe is trying to bring back an old wedge of thiers, the abortion ploys. However there are other concerns that have a far more impact on our lives that grab out attention.

By: CAH on 8/3/09 at 6:34

Did any of you catch the ABC TV talk show yesterday morning where Treasury Secretary Geithner was interviewed?

"WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama's treasury secretary said Sunday he cannot rule out higher taxes to help tame an exploding budget deficit, and his chief economic adviser would not dismiss raising them on middle-class Americans as part of a health care overhaul."

http://tinyurl.com/n97p49

So, as many have warned, it's not if middle class taxes will go up more than that oft quoted "Single Dime", but when.

By: Dragon on 8/3/09 at 6:54

Obama is the NEW Democrat. Gone are the days of "tax and spend". With the new PAYGO, they have 10 years to "pay" for new spending.

Now it's "Spend and Tax". Don't you love change?

By: gdiafante on 8/3/09 at 7:03

Whew, I thought we were going to go the entire morning without someone whining about Obama...

By: house_of_pain on 8/3/09 at 7:12

Nemo, how was your convention? Any intelligent life out there?

By: CAH on 8/3/09 at 7:16

The way things are going, we're not going to have any change left.

By: gdiafante on 8/3/09 at 7:20

There sure isn't any signs of intelligent life here...we could use someone from the Federation to break the Prime Directive and guide us to enlightenment...

By: dargent7 on 8/3/09 at 7:41

GD: OK., you've got your PhD. in Beatlemania....
A couple of questions left out:
1) Lennon's "Dear Prudence" was referring to whom?
2) Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" song...what religious group was the chant's mantra?

By: idgaf on 8/3/09 at 7:47

Abortion is a health care issue how, that should be paid for by taxpayers?

I don't know any insurance companies that pay for them unless the health/life of the mother is at stake.

If you claim it is a freedom of choice issue (like cosmetic surgury) then why should you not pay for it yourself?

By: gdiafante on 8/3/09 at 7:47

This is getting old...

1: Mia Farrow's sister
2: Hindu. The song was about Krishna. It also ripped of "He's so Fine".

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/3/09 at 7:53

id, most abortions are not used as a form of birth control.

By: Loner on 8/3/09 at 7:55

Good morning, Nashville!

This LTE is very similar to one published on the 17th; I suspect that theocratic preachers are whipping their congregations into a frenzy over the Health Care debate. Letter-writing campaigns are an old but effective tactic, once again, the fear-based rhetoric is getting traction in the houses of worship.

Everyone has some objections as to how tax revenues (our money not other people's money) are spent. I don't wish to see our money spent on faith--based and race-based colonialism in Palestine; the theocrats, however, don't object to bankrolling Zionism and arming the militant "settlers" using US taxpayer funds.

'twas ever thus!.

By: idgaf on 8/3/09 at 7:56

What is the purpose then nazi?

By: dargent7 on 8/3/09 at 8:09

id: Are you brain dead, or just play one in this forum? Women don't use abortion as birth control. They, due to Republican hypocracy, are ill informed, or not informed at all, how humans make babies. Your kind, and associated fools like you, want to keep sex education, condom use, STD statistics, etc. out of public schools.
What are you, in your late 70's, early 80's?

By: JohnGalt on 8/3/09 at 8:10

Why does the CP continue to call this "Letters (plural) to the Editor" since they never publish more than one a day? Since silver7 is published two or three times a week I guess it cuts down on work needed by editors.

By: dargent7 on 8/3/09 at 8:10

gd: I thought it was fun. OK., no more. Sorry for the inconvience. Let's talk about the daily specials at Shoney's.

By: Dragon on 8/3/09 at 8:12

"Women don't use abortion as birth control."

Abortion is used to terminate an unwanted pregnancy, to PREVENT BIRTH. You must be talking about pregnancy control.

By: dargent7 on 8/3/09 at 8:13

BigJohn: I haven't been published in over two, maybe three weeks. They do use "CW Clouse" once a week. They are a strange bunch over at TCP, but no match for the horseshi** that goes on over here.

By: gdiafante on 8/3/09 at 8:13

Here's one for you Dargent:

What song was being recorded when Harrison was running around the studio with an ashtray on fire?

By: idgaf on 8/3/09 at 8:16

Don't change the subject. 7

Your argument is that it is a freedom of choice issue so make your case why others should pay for that choice and how it is related to health care?

Nazi said its purpose was not birth control so enlighten us what is its purpose.

Skip the name calling which is the lefts trademark taught by Alinski (in his rules for RADICLES) and just answer a few simple questions.

By: dargent7 on 8/3/09 at 8:16

Blanket: You hold down the fort. These OLD, WHITE MEN are useless when it comes to a coherent, reality based discussion on abortion. You and pswindle deal with these fools. They probably are still upset about not being legally able to have slaves on their plantations. And a woman's right to vote causes them to dump in their diapers.

By: dargent7 on 8/3/09 at 8:18

id: You, gd, and Dragon, probably Chief, CAH, are all my guess, ALL WHITE MEN.
'nuff said.

By: idgaf on 8/3/09 at 8:22

Can't answer eh 7 (and the Nazi (how appropriate))

You are the one that can't make a "coherent, reality based discussion on abortion"

Make your case your close your mouth so you can't shove more feet in it.

I do think I have stumped the Nazi/Liberals.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/3/09 at 8:23

id, abortion is most often used when the birth will put the life of the mother in jeopardy or if the child is so ill or disfigured that he/she would not live long after birth or would be stillborn. you know the abortion Dr. that was recently murdered? did you read about the cases he dealt with? please enlighten yourself before you make the ASSumption that abortion is used as birth control. it simply is not the case.

if a 13 year old child is raped by her father, you believe that your dogma should determine whether or not she should carry the child? seriously?

By: Loner on 8/3/09 at 8:25

Does anyone else see the irony of tax-exempt, organized religion determining how tax revenues are spent?

The Judeo-Christian priests, pastors and rabbis are expediting Armageddon by using other people's money, yet nobody seems to mind. Yes, we have slipped into theocracy; Holy Wars Suck.

And now these "Holy Men" are using their pulpits to strip women of their right to control their own reproductive systems. This is beyond irony, this is ludicrous.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/3/09 at 8:25

please inform yourself.

By: Dragon on 8/3/09 at 8:25

Dargent7 playing the race card? He has previously identified himself as Paul D'argent, so we can only assume he is not white. What color is he?

By: idgaf on 8/3/09 at 8:27

Gotta love the way 7 and the other leftys always play the race card when they can't defend their position.

7 did you ever think that abortion is a way to keep your population down? remember if it was up to the dems the civil rights act and the voting act would have never passed with KKK Bird against it and algores daddy.

Could they and the nazi really want to commit genocide against your people or just control you at a manageable leval?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/3/09 at 8:28

"The 9-year-old girl had been raped by her father. She was 18 weeks pregnant. Carrying the baby to term, going through labor and delivery, would have ripped her small body apart......"

http://warner.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/06/04/george-tiller/

By: dargent7 on 8/3/09 at 8:28

Dragon: Than verify the factual assumption I made. Are you an OLD WHITE MAN? It's really an easy queation.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/3/09 at 8:29

And most importantly....read the cases:

http://www.aheartbreakingchoice.com/kansasstories.html

these are not "genocide" cases.

By: slacker on 8/3/09 at 8:30

Dragon, dargent is an Albino actor, he played the lead in the movie ''Powder''
He sometimes gets some vampire roles.

By: dargent7 on 8/3/09 at 8:31

Nazix2: I repeat, they will NEVER change their beliefs re: abortion. They think it's a "poor person's problem, mostly for black folk". Now some idiot is questioning my race, but calling me a race baiter on abortion.

By: idgaf on 8/3/09 at 8:31

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/3/09 at 9:23
id, abortion is most often used when the birth will put the life of the mother in jeopardy or if the child is so ill or disfigured that he/she would not live long after birth or would be stillborn. you know the abortion Dr. that was recently murdered?

That is a real strech nazi where did you pull that from? (nevermind don't tell us this is a family paper)

Are you trying to tell us that millions of woman died pre Roe v Wade?

Thats absurd.

By: dargent7 on 8/3/09 at 8:32

Slacker: Wrong, albino breath. I tan very easily in the summer sun.

By: gdiafante on 8/3/09 at 8:34

What's a "strech"?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/3/09 at 8:44

no, id. it's not absurd. try to educate yourself.

By: idgaf on 8/3/09 at 8:44

is that the best you can do ante idgaf?

sad

By: gdiafante on 8/3/09 at 8:47

Actually, I can turn it around to you, is it the best you can do? A pocket dictionary would work wonders for your inferior intellect. They are cheap too, so you won't have to spend most of your government check.

By: gdiafante on 8/3/09 at 8:48

Blanket, dumb old dogs can't learn new tricks, they just lie around and fart alot until they die.
