‘Sick bill’ needs a cure

We do need legislation to change the health insurance paradigm. We need for patients to be more responsible for paying their doctors and more responsible for their own health. We need to assume that adults are intelligent and can make wise decisions for themselves.

None of these things are in the Democrats’ bill. The more I read about this legislation, with page references and the document available for confirmation, the more I see this as a benevolent tyrant’s dream come true.

The frenzy by Democrats and President Obama to pass "health care reform" would otherwise be curious if not for the intention to keep the details fuzzy. From the Solons who brought us the $400 hammer, freezers full of cash and the GM bailout, I cannot see the wisdom in handing over total control of the "public welfare" to them.

While Medicare is currently successful, Medicaid has been a black hole. Handing supervision of my healthcare to CMS — the anonymous bureaucracy with absolute authority and more regard for rules than people — is madness.

The Democrats' "health care reform" is a sick bill. That's why there are angry citizens speaking out. Begin again with an open and honest discussion of the failings of both private sector and public sector healthcare. The Democrats' owe that to all Americans. After all, they control Congress and the White House.

Dragon drool.

Chief, you know that Congress and the White House are more important than the little people, so their healthcare should be the best that our money can buy. Just like the new private jets Congress bought.

Just keep paying your taxes and accept what they tell you to do.

If he had said this during Bush days in office, he might be more believeible.

It's not your money dumbass...you have no concept of how stimulus packages work...

And try to be a little more original than copying me...jeez

I broke my own rule by engaging with the retard...corrected

By: Captain Nemo on 8/6/09 at 8:34

Fox news viewers are the fringe right. The rest of people watch others

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/6/09 at 8:35

Gdia,

Oh it's not my money huh? The stimulus package came from taxes, correct? And I pay taxes...so it came from me, you and all other people who paid taxes.

Or is that a concept which you are unfamiliar with?

Oh and apparently you are degenerating to Nemo's level using name-calling. I credited you with more intelligence than that. Sorry I was wrong there.

By: sidneyames on 8/6/09 at 8:35

Dooley, I'm angry and the republicans are not carting me around in a bus to protest. I'm angry because I can read, and because I am sick of that jack A$$ O'bama telling me that I need him and the government to manage my health care. You said "The only angry citizens speaking out are the few hired assassins at town hall meetings hired and transported from place to place by the Republicans ". My guess is the only way you can come up with a statement like that is to REPEAT what you read or hear coming from the mouth of your exhaulted leader .... you know, the guy who knows EVERYTHING - O'bama? The people who need help can get it NOW. They just have to fill out the paperwork, wait in line, fill out the paperwork, wait in line, talk to a talking head in a government cubicle, wait in line, talk some more and all the while their condition is getting worse. That's the government for you. So Dooley, shut up and sit down. Your speech is not well taken by intelligent people who think for themselves. NO GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE. By the way, how do you like the government run housing projects we have in this country? Are you applying for one of them as we write? Is that because the government does ssuch a good job in them? Duh!

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/6/09 at 8:36

Nemo,

So you're saying the "fringe right" has grown by that much, given the increase in viewership Foxnews has and the decrease CNN and other places have?

Thanks for letting us know.

By: sidneyames on 8/6/09 at 8:37

D7, "when the country was running smoothly". Do you mean when Bill was banging Monica under the desk in the Oval office? I call that "slick" not smooth. And your ideas are getting old. You need to retire and go to the nursing home early.

By: gdiafante on 8/6/09 at 8:38

"You need to retire and go to the nursing home early."

Yeah, she needs some company

By: sidneyames on 8/6/09 at 8:39

Also, you jerks, Chris Dodd's prostate cancer and Teddy (murderer of a young woman) Kennedy's brain cancer are being treated by the BEST doctors in the world. Do ya thank that the gov-ment health plan will let us all go to Chris and Teddy's doctor? Yeah right. Think again. We'll all be lined up outside dingy clinic doors begging for aspirin. I want to manage my own health care. I do it quite well with no GOV-MENT EXPENDITURE!

By: Captain Nemo on 8/6/09 at 8:40

gdia knows a dumbass when he see one. lol

By: Dragon on 8/6/09 at 8:40

Chief, they also don't understand a tax rebate - giving some of your taxes back that were collected. For them, they didn't pay taxes so the "rebate" was free money. They see tax cuts as government handing out free money instead of just taking less.

The new unemployment numbers were seasonally revised from 580,00 to 550,000. They can't see that we lost another half-million jobs. Didn't they tell you the economy was IMPROVING, rather than getting worse more slowly?

By: sidneyames on 8/6/09 at 8:40

P.S. Where can I read the ENTIRE health care reform bill?

By: gdiafante on 8/6/09 at 8:42

The two stooges don't even understand their own whining (that's the correct spelling for Sid), do they?? LOL

You two get a room and make sure to use vaseline...

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/6/09 at 8:42

Nemo,

Really? Then a mirror is not something which either of you should have in your homes.

By: gdiafante on 8/6/09 at 8:43

Dragon, they've been saying for MONTHS, that unemployment would continue to increase even if the recession eases...are you really that unaware? Nevermind, rhetorical.

By: Dragon on 8/6/09 at 8:43

Sidney, it is still in committee but here is a working draft from the energy committee.

Dooley, I'm angry and the republicans are not carting me around in a bus to protest.

The arrogant Ms'ames is looking foe a free ride.

By: sidneyames on 8/6/09 at 8:45

Tax rebate: Yeah I got my $1200; that year I paid $1285 EXTRA above and beyond what I had withheld from my payroll and my husband's payroll. So I didn't benefit; the gov-ment got their $1200 back plus $85 of my money. The Stimulus is a farce. It's only helping friends of friends who supported o'bama.

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/6/09 at 8:45

Dragon,

That's what irritates me...people assume that the money the government doles out comes out of thin air. It comes from the pockets of taxpayers...and when someone who pays taxes gets a rebate, all they are doing is getting back a little of the money they had to give up to the government.

Those who get a rebate but didin't pay anything in ARE getting a free ride from the government.

Why is this so hard for some people to understand???

By: gdiafante on 8/6/09 at 8:45

"Chris Dodd's prostate cancer and Teddy (murderer of a young woman) Kennedy's brain cancer are being treated by the BEST doctors in the world. Do ya thank that the gov-ment health plan will let us all go to Chris and Teddy's doctor?"

Does the current system? Do you even know what you're talking about?

Yes, more rhetorical questions...I'm in a mood today...

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/6/09 at 8:47

g, can you tell that it's a full moon? LOL!

By: sidneyames on 8/6/09 at 8:47

dooley, of course you missed the point. YOur head is too far up in the clouds (or your butt) to understand plain english. No, I don't need a ride on the bus to hell. I'm able to speak for myself without having anyone put words in my mouth --unlike you demos who have to have it all scripted for you. I repeat. I'm angry about the health care bill and since I manage my own health care like millions of other intelligent Americans, we don't need you dooley-do or o'bama-rama-drama taking care of us. Leave our money and our health care alone.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/6/09 at 8:47

Anothers great come back form The Cheif Nerd. lol

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/6/09 at 8:48

when someone relies on Fox "news" (which changes to "commentary" when needed) and can only complain about the president having an occasional cigarette, you really need to laugh. talk about grasping at straws.

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/6/09 at 8:48

Gdia,

They've also been saying for months that they were going to generate jobs and drop unemployment. Now while the unemployment rosters aren't increasing as fast, I don't believe they have decreased at all. I also believe we were told the stimulus needed to be passed immediately so we would have immediate relief.

So when will those jobs start?

By: sidneyames on 8/6/09 at 8:49

Ed said: "We do need legislation to change the health insurance paradigm. We need for patients to be more responsible for paying their doctors and more responsible for their own health. We need to assume that adults are intelligent and can make wise decisions for themselves." Ed you are correct and unfortunately dooley and D-7 are not falling into the "intelligent" or "adult" part of that.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/6/09 at 8:49

you know, i just had an epiphany. Fox News is like the old testament. it only applies when needed. otherwise it's "commentary" as in the case of Fox "news" or it's been fulfilled by the coming of Jesus as in the case of the old testament.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/6/09 at 8:50

after a recession ends it takes a while for the job market to catch up. it doesn't happen overnight.

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/6/09 at 8:51

Blanket,

I just had an epiphany as well. CNN, et al are like comic books...interesting stories with little or no basis in fact.

By: gdiafante on 8/6/09 at 8:52

Don't even try blanket, the economy could turn around to the point that all taxes are abolished and two people here would find something to complain about. It's what they do.

By: gdiafante on 8/6/09 at 8:53

So, Blanket, did you have any good beer last night? Had a Sam Adams Irish Red, not bad...

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/6/09 at 8:54

Blanket,

I understand that...but the stimulus was sold under the banner it would provide immediate help.

More to the point, do you really believe the job market will be aided by the stimulus? Worse, the healthcare bill taxing the rich will simply worsen an already bad situation as it will cause those who have money to spend even less than they have now, which in turn will depress the job market further.

Simple economics.

.......................................................................................................................................................

The question now is..does she or doesn't she?

By: sidneyames on 8/6/09 at 8:54

Well, I'm going to WORK now so I can earn my own money to pay for my own health care. What a concept. Maybe you guys who spend all day long on this site, should try it. Maybe then you wouldn't be standing on the corner with "Will sit up and beg for free health care" signs. Have fun you O'dogs!

By: sidneyames on 8/6/09 at 8:55

And don't forget, during Gore/Clinton is when Clinton got the nick name "Slick Willie".

By: gdiafante on 8/6/09 at 8:56

I bet old Sid is a typical Fox News watcher...they don't seem to be very smart people...

Tacate? Never heard of that, what is it?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/6/09 at 9:00

yeah, the economy is going to really do well when there is no more middle class because they lose their houses and retirement savings due to medical crisises. you have to have a middle class to have a democracy.

By: slacker on 8/6/09 at 9:01

Broderick Crawford gay? Say it ain't so.

By: house_of_pain on 8/6/09 at 9:03

You guys with your Sam Adams & Tecate...must be nice to be rich...

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/6/09 at 9:04

i misspelled, g. it's Tecate. a nice Mexican beer.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/6/09 at 9:06

Broderick Crawford, too.! Wow

Another He-Man out in the open. I wonder if all of the Cheif Fringers are really what they say they are?

That goes double for you sid.

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/6/09 at 9:07

Blanket,

Oh yes, the economy would do much better without a middle class at all, because there will be the rich who can afford their own healthcare and can hide the money from the IRS...and then there will be the rest of us who will have to take whatever healthcare the government deems us deserving and who will have to foot the bill because no one else will be around to pay it.

Yes, that would be much better.

By: MamaG on 8/6/09 at 9:07

Okay, let's get this straight: Alice Pearce played Gladys Kravitz. George Tobias played her husband Abner. Cindy Brady's doll was Kitty Carry All and Eddie Munster's doll was Wolfie, I think.

Good morning all and talk with you all later!

You will find the number of people who don't like what's going on will continue to grow and grow. Better get used to it.
