Clinton should be commended

It seems that the hatred and vitriol exhibited by the fringe right wing nuts when Bill Clinton’s name is even mentioned has resurfaced and probably will linger until they all die out.

It's a shame that the ignorant and uncalled for remarks hurled at former president Clinton by these imbeciles because of his act of mercy in going to North Korea on a mission as a private American citizen to try to get two young ladies released from prison and a 12-year sentence of hard labor and was successful.

For this deed he should be held in the highest esteem by all Americans and not vilified for his actions as the ultra right wing are determined to do.

I along with the most Americans appreciate from the bottom of our hearts that Clinton was able to speak for these young women with a voice of reason which resulted in their release instead of threatening with a fake cowboy bravado that they have been used to for the past eight years.

This in itself showed that Americans as a whole are not a bunch of brash bullies. Rush, go to rehab please, and take Mr. Bush with you.

Gdia,

My point was, they may be doing "full fledged diplomatic/humanitarian missions" and we may not know about it.

But never mind...you have your mind made up about it.

Blanket will break down and define 'd-bag' today...I can feel it.

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/12/09 at 9:13

Kosh,

"Wasn't that the tactic used by Bush for the Patriot Act and the first stimulus package shoved thru by Paulson?"

As I recall, at least Congress got the chance to READ the bill put before them before they voted on it. Not so on the last stimulus package...and they tried it on healthcare as well.

And concerning the first stimulus package, I disagreed with that too...it was a mistake then and it's still a mistake NOW.

By: Loner on 8/12/09 at 9:13

Sure thing, Chief those two egomaniacs (the Bush boys) are doing humanitarian work "under the radar".....that's a hoot!

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/12/09 at 9:14

Gdia

"glass houses buddy..."

Granted...but at least a majority of my posts do not have spelling or grammatical errors in them.

By: slacker on 8/12/09 at 9:15

Hey Nemo, did Shatner show up at the get together?

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/12/09 at 9:16

Loner,

Mores the pity for Alaskans then. Too bad their Legislature isn't made up of rugged individualists. Shame that.

By: slacker on 8/12/09 at 9:19

Loner, Bill & Bush the old, had a charitable thang going didn't they?

By: gdiafante on 8/12/09 at 9:20

I believe they did slacker, above the radar too...

"Bush the old"...love it...that way we know you don't mean "Bush the stupid"

Please fina (sic) a dictionary...translating your pig latin (or whatever it is) is difficult.

I could not fina (sic) a dictonary with any reference to the word fina(sic). However at Flitter Island there is Fina Berry Bush.

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/12/09 at 9:26

Nemo,

Well perhaps we BOTH need a dictionary...you more than me, but there you are.

Hey Nemo, did Shatner show up at the get together?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes he did and I got my picture with him and Nimoy together.

By: brrrrk on 8/12/09 at 9:27

chief, I have a question for you? You consider yourself a Christian, correct?

By: Loner on 8/12/09 at 9:31

According to some sources, the 3 billion that Israel receives from the US Treasury as an entitlement ($580 US per capita) is only about half of the total US federal aid to the Jewish State. Resettlement funding, joint military research projects, anti-terrorism projects, forgiven loans etc. double the published per capita figure.

Several states within our union of states recieve less per capita in US federal aid for its residents than a non-US-tax-paying state, half-way around the world and a state that is outside our union of states.

Nobody in Washington would dare to bring this odd fact to light. AIPAC would undermine any politician who even mentioned this queer and un-natural relationship. Am I being anti-Semitic by questioning the wisdom and efficacy of the "special relationship"? Excuuuuuuse me!

By: brrrrk on 8/12/09 at 9:32

Captain Nemo said,

"Yes he did and I got my picture with him and Nimoy together."

Kudos Nemo, I'm sure that picture will attract the girls/guys/whatever to you like flies to..... well..... honey. :-)

P.S. I met Shatner once when I worked in the Airport... seemed like a fairly decent chap.

By: slacker on 8/12/09 at 9:32

gdiafante, ''Great leader'' would have loved to have Bush the last, pick up the girls.
Poor Bill looked thoroughly pissed, posing with that nutter Kim 2. I assumed Gore would have bit the bullet and gone over there.

By: slacker on 8/12/09 at 9:35

nemo, that's cool. Guess those two remember where they got their start, good for them.

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/12/09 at 9:36

Brrrrk,

"chief, I have a question for you? You consider yourself a Christian, correct?"

I do.

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/12/09 at 9:38

Slacker,

"I assumed Gore would have bit the bullet and gone over there."

Frankly I am curious why he didn't.

By: dooley on 8/12/09 at 9:39

Wow ! citizen I didn't know that you were in the inside loop at the White House and that Obama shared with you as to why Clinton was sent to Korea to retrieve the two women. Please let us know more of your inside knowledge.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/12/09 at 9:40

chief when you start correcting my spelling a grammar, I know that I am getting the best of you. You have nothing left in your arsenal of dimwits but the programmed that has been shoved into your tiny brain.

I should do a better job of editing than I do.

By: slacker on 8/12/09 at 9:41

chief, it wasn't fear of being taken prisoner or anything, Kim might have requested Clinton.

By: gdiafante on 8/12/09 at 9:42

Cough...I believe it's well known that they requested Clinton...for a while now...

By: brrrrk on 8/12/09 at 9:43

chief, ok. And as such, do you believe that America is a Christian nation?

By: slacker on 8/12/09 at 9:44

Loner, do you think Israel will strike Iran?

By: Loner on 8/12/09 at 9:45

Boys and girls, using Spellcheck and Word can clean up your posts, but even those tools cannot correct for missing words, wrong words or thin content. I go without a net on this board, as a general rule....if I make a major typo I'll correct it, otherwise I let the post stand - good, bad or ugly.

By: slacker on 8/12/09 at 9:49

gdiafante, thanks for clearing that up.

By: BenDover on 8/12/09 at 9:50

I'm so tired of this 'discussion', 'dialogue' , 'disruption' bullsh*t coming out of the Whitehouse. Nancy and Obama have had our congressman's ears and purse strings for the last 6 months. It's time for the voters to have their turn to make our voices heard; and the 'disrupton' of their dialogue and spin is part of it.

Shut up and listen to us, congressmen, the people you are supposed to be representing.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/12/09 at 9:50

brrrk

Shatner is Shatner. He is a very entertaining and I would think very loyal to his friends and family.

slacker they both seem to be very close friends.

I also got pictures with others from TNG, DS9, but the one I like the most is the one with Christopher Lloyd.

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/12/09 at 9:51

Brrrrk,

I believe it was founded on principles that fell along the principles of Christianity, if that is what you are asking...but if you are asking if we are a pure Christian nation, then the answer is no, because the first amendment allows freedom of religion...any religion that one wishes to worship in their own way...so long as it does not interfer with the rights of others guaranteed in the same Constitution.

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/12/09 at 9:52

Gdia and Slacker,

Yes he was requested...but he didn't have to go and Obama didn't have to sanction it. Still, like I said, it did take some guts to do, no matter if he was invited or not.

By: brrrrk on 8/12/09 at 9:54

CN,

I found it interesting that George Takei said the character that Shatner played in "Boston Legal", Denny Crane, was closest to his own personality....

By: Captain Nemo on 8/12/09 at 9:55

What are you trying to say Ben?

By: Captain Nemo on 8/12/09 at 9:59

brrrk:

That seem to be true. At less it does on the stage. He banter with Nimoy was very much like on the show.

By: gdiafante on 8/12/09 at 10:01

Don't worry about Ben, he's just pissed that the Dow is up 128 or so right now.

Hey, Ben...look...ten stones in a line!!

By: BenDover on 8/12/09 at 10:02

Hi Nemo

I'm saying that these very vocal protest are a valid time-honored form of communication between congressmen and their constituents and Obama is spinning it as something new and unacceptable. He's changing the rules of the game and for the most part, with the help of the media, is getting away with it ... classic Saul Allinski.

By: Kosh III on 8/12/09 at 10:03

Pres Clinton and Bush41 did a tour of areas devastated by the Tsunami.

By: gdiafante on 8/12/09 at 10:05

Oblivious

Adjective - unmindful; unconscious; unaware

By: brrrrk on 8/12/09 at 10:05

chief, very cool. At least we can agree on one thing there..... although I would argue that Christianity was one of the many influences, such as English Common Law and the Iroquois Nation. But I digress.

So as a Christian and as a general statement, do you feel that you have an obligation of faith to treat everyone, regardless of color, race, financial status, faith (or lack thereof), or political affiliation as "Christianly" as possible? To treat your fellow human being as decently as possible?

By: Captain Nemo on 8/12/09 at 10:05

7 hard words.

I have got to go to work.

For the twit.

I got too go too wok. lol

By: BenDover on 8/12/09 at 10:07

Dow's up? I thought it was still down about 4000 since Obama started getting traction in his March to the Whitehouse.

Funny thing... when a rising US presidential politico runs around promising to double caps gain taxes, institute cap and trade, rewrite NAFTA, bankrupt the coal industry and sock it to the earners in society; well... the people paying attention to this... the people with something to lose... they call their brokers and say 'sell'.

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/12/09 at 10:09

Brrrrk,

I have a responsibility to treat everyone as decently as possible...Christianly assumes that only Christians treat people well, which isn't a factual statement. However, yes, I should treat my fellow human being as decently as possible.

By: gdiafante on 8/12/09 at 10:09

You would think that Ben...see definition above. Thanks.

By: brrrrk on 8/12/09 at 10:13

OK Chief,

Then, as a Christian, how do you reconcile your views on health care with Matthew 25:36?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/12/09 at 10:20

douche bag
-noun

slang : an unattractive or offensive person

By: Loner on 8/12/09 at 10:20

Slacker asks, "Loner, do you think Israel will strike Iran?"

In a word, "yes". Russian TV (RT) recently featured a video interview with John Bolton, the former US Ambassador to the UN and its chief critic. Bolton must be on the Israeli payroll, if not, he should be.

Bolton played down Iran's ability to counter-attack or otherwise retaliate and he feels that the US should assist Israel in executing the first-strike aggression against the Persians.

If Obama doesn't play along with the pro-Israel agenda, VP Biden will.

I hope that I am wrong, but if Obama is snuffed, Biden, an LBJ wannabe, will quickly give Israel the green light to attack the Islamic Republic; the aftermath of Shock & Awe Part 2 will overshadow the assassination.

I imagine that the Mossad will be smart enough to find a deranged Muslim to do the actual shooting, Sirhan Sirhan style. America's rage against Muslims will then fuel the Iran War, Israel will see to it.

Again, I hope that I am wrong on all that.

By: BenDover on 8/12/09 at 10:20

I'll answer that if you like brrrrk.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/12/09 at 10:23

yeah, captain kurk was the shat.
