What’s that sucking sound?

Hopefully the people of Nashville will let their elected officials know that they do not want a Convention Center Authority. Mayor Karl Dean is creating the Convention center Authority under the provisions of Public Chapter 474, the Convention Center Authorities Authorization Act of 2009.

This 22-page law greatly increases the size, scope, and power of government and then vests that power in a small group to be known as the Convention Center Authority.

When the size, scope and power of government grows individual liberty shrinks. Creation of a Convention Center Authority will greatly undermine the libertarian values so deeply cherished by the people of Nashville.

All of Nashville should come to the public meeting on Convention Center PR on the Aug. 17 and to the rally planned to oppose the Convention Center Authority on Aug. 18.

In the meantime let us flood Metro Council with phone calls, e-mails and letters opposing the Convention Center Authority. Metro Council should listen closely to the sound of $1 billion being sucked from the local economy for this project.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/14/09 at 1:51

"Thou who art ridiculous should stfu." Blanketnazi 1:1

Mama, the correct answer is, "What is an a-hole."

By: MamaG on 8/14/09 at 1:53

OH! And I also failed to form my answer in a question. Dang!

By: Captain Nemo on 8/14/09 at 1:56

I thought it was..What is a c-hole. subtract 5000

By: MamaG on 8/14/09 at 1:56

And that, "a-hole" is one of my fave words to use! I find I use that on a daily basis. Along with a few other choice words. I think Effing Idiot is probably my all-time fave, using the actual F word.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/14/09 at 1:56

close, though Nemo.....

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/14/09 at 1:57

f-tarded is my favorite.

By: MamaG on 8/14/09 at 1:58

I particularly enjoy saying the word "idiot" in the voice of the all-time great Asthma Hound Chihuahua, Ren. (Eeeeeediot)

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/14/09 at 1:59

god, i LOVE Ren! I still have a Ren doll in PJ's with the velcro back flap.

By: MamaG on 8/14/09 at 2:01

That is good too, bn2. I try not to use any form of the "tarded" words because it upsets my son. His sister is mildly retarded (autistic) and he doesn't like it, so I refrain when I'm around him.

I also like stringing along several words at once, as in, "Sh!tPi$$Damn!" You can use any combination of words you wish.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/14/09 at 2:02

yeah, combo words are fun.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/14/09 at 2:04

f***idee f*** is also fun.

By: MamaG on 8/14/09 at 2:08

My friend has one of the Ren dolls, that you pull a string and he talks but guess what? It was a defect and actually has Stempy's voice in it. He was going to take it back but decided it might be worth something one day. We loved those cartoons too and used to really enjoy watching them.
Ever notice Stempy always had a little square patch on his tongue?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/14/09 at 2:09

yup. i'm a huge Ren & Stimpy fan. lol!

By: MamaG on 8/14/09 at 2:10

The crazy Jamaican lady neighbor of mine came up with one I hadn't heard and like to use now: Fockery. Try it with the accent, it's better that way!

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/14/09 at 2:12

oh, that IS a good one!

By: MamaG on 8/14/09 at 2:14

Yes, Stimpy, my bad!

As for the fockery word, it works well when said like, "All this foolishness and fockery must stop!"

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/14/09 at 2:15

MammaG,

Granted...but there is also this:

1 Timothy 5:8
But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

By: MamaG on 8/14/09 at 2:15

It's the Blanket and MamaG shoooow!

(We're like Itchy & Scratchy! Or Ren & Stimpy!!! LOL)

By: Blanketnazi2 on 8/14/09 at 2:18

Someone gave me the Ren & Stimpy Uncut DVD for my birthday one year. I still watch it - lol!

By: MamaG on 8/14/09 at 2:21

"But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless."

By: house_of_pain on 8/14/09 at 2:46

Sometimes, I use "effin' farmer".
I picked up the "farmer" part up north.
They used it in lieu of "a**hole".

Using the Bible as the absolute source for an argument is like relying on a schizophrenic as a solid witness in a court trial.

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/14/09 at 3:14

MamaG

Quarreling? I thought we were having a discussion about the law.

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/14/09 at 3:25

Blanket,

And I answered you...but when you don't like what I say and someone else uses the bible, suddenly I'M the one woh is quoting scriptures to manipulate it to my interests?

By: chiefpayne568 on 8/14/09 at 3:26

Sorry not woh but ONE

Funkin' habitory, beanpole lookin', potato teeth, waffelo eatin', flat tire, run-over shoe, backwoods, inbred, cousin lovin', biscuit head motherf***er!
This must be said in one breath to achieve maximum effect.

By: Captain Nemo on 8/14/09 at 3:48

I believe we are surrounded, Nemo.

house, they have joined the GOP. There is no hope for recovery

By: dargent7 on 8/14/09 at 4:15

pswindle: We already got a Convention Center. It's state-of-the-art...called Gaylord Hotel & Resort. And the one downtown is plently adequate for smaller venues.
Next, we'll need a bigger LP Field because 68,000 seats isn't enough?

And I think the best act at Woodstock was Jimi Hendrix playing the National Anthem.

If I wouldn't know any better I'd say that Glenn Beck is a Democratic operative sent in to destroy the GOP from within. :-)
