Hey, negative Nate
Just let me know if Larry Woody is able to say something positive about NASCAR? Just once?
I got tired of major league baseball once and quit watching it. I felt better about it..... Maybe Larry needs to do the same with NASCAR and let the rest of us enjoy it.
Come to think of it I might take my own advice and quit reading his articles.

OFF-Topic Div. is now open....how 'bout them Titans?
Freaky Full Moon Payday Friday. Oh yeah.
C'mon d7, I know you're a big fan of left turns at high speeds.
Why are Repelicans so afraid to let their children hear Obama speak about the importance of studying hard? Are they are afraid they may start to see that he's a smart man and not the Anti-Christ as they they've been taught?
"House"...that's right. Full Moon today @ 12:04pm. That's just past noon for the astronomically challenged..
And, as you probably know by now, I go both ways.
Fun: Good post. Republicans are an odd assortment of derailed DNA. They're afraid of the dark, the unknown, and basically themselves. That's why they need to carry .357 Magnums into parks and bars 'cause all the troubles and fears they themselves have are projected outward onto others'.
I don't see what all the fuss is about, Funditto. If Obama says something that a child doesn't really understand, or something the parent(s) disagree with, it provides an opportunity to have a discussion with the child. That's a good thing.
Besides, it gives you the chance to say, "...now you know, and knowing is half the battle.".
Funditto, I think Larry Woody should speak to the children, but he might turn them against NASCAR with that hypnotic voice of his.
I suggest Joe Biden as an alternative speaker, or maybe just let the little dears study, reading, writing, and arithmetic.
d'pain: I think that's the 1st post you've made that was sincere. Usually yours are Henny Youngman "one-liners" about the blind or cripples in wheelchairs. Maybe there is hope for society.
And you know if McPalin were in office and doing this they'd be all over it saying how wonderful it is that they're taking time to speak to child and that they care about education and blah and blah and blither.
Notice the letter writer couldn't say anything positive about them either.
NASCAR went big business and out priced the fan base and took the excitement out of it.
Its like the NFL going to touch football rules.
"And, as you probably know by now, I go both ways."
Me too, I drink sweet and unsweet tea.
idgaf, if you want NASCAR, just get on any interstate, everybody drafts you, and you sometimes swap paint.
pain, early line: Titans +5
House,
I would agree with you House...IF the fuss were about what Obama says.
But I don't think that was the problem. The problem was the recommended curriculum that was being pushed. I think that was the issue...at least it was for me.
BTW, I will be letting my 16 year old and my 7 year old watch. I will be standing by with answers for questions, if they have any.
Funditto,
"And you know if McPalin were in office and doing this they'd be all over it saying how wonderful it is that they're taking time to speak to child and that they care about education and blah and blah and blither"
And as I recall, Bush spoke to the children and was accused of pushing politics onto the children as well by the Democrats.
Still going up I see.

slacker, many seem to think our defense lost all its teeth when Fat Albert left.
I think the team, as a whole, is better this year.
d7, I didn't mean to lead you on...here you go:
Why do farts smell?
So deaf people can enjoy them, too.
How will you be standing by chief? Are you going to go to their classroom? No. Wait. Let me guess. You home school.
Funditto,
No...I will simply answer any questions when I get home. Contrary to what you may think, I am not afraid of words.
As a matter of fact, my 16 year old didn't want to listen. I told him it wouldn't hurt him to listen. He told me he would probably sleep thru it, given the opportunity.
I would like to know what it is about NASCAR that requires a statement of "good: about it. I used to be a rabid Nascar fan and now consider it one notch above roller derby.
I wonder if Chief teaches his children how to cheat employers by goofing off on the internet while at work?
Points to ponder...
So did the Titans win last night? I watched the Philly/Jets game...
Kosh III: I meant left and right turns.....boy, is this going to be a long weekend. Labor Day is Mon., so no LTE's until Tues....
Wow. I thought Obama opposed extended tours. I guess he's decided it's not so bad to do now.
Pentagon Extends Tours for 82nd Airborne Troops in Afghanistan
Members of the 82nd Airborne Division headquarters serving in Afghanistan have been told their tours will be extended by 52 days from 12 months to nearly 14 months.

Vy didn't fumble or get intercepted, playing against scrubs, so he will be going to the hall of fame again.
Gdia,
"I wonder if Chief teaches his children how to cheat employers by goofing off on the internet while at work?"
I teach them common courtesy...would that your parents had done the same.
gdiafante, as slackerdamus predicted, Vick will be starting for Philly velly soon.
I'll take that as a "no" Chief.
Taking a shot at my parents? Tsk tsk...I thought you better than that...not really, it suits you perfectly.
He's activated by game three, doesn't mean he's going to be starting. But I am anticipating a nice team implosion when the fans start whining for him to play. I wanted Vick to go to Washington, but looks like Philly will be even better.
When the Secretary of Education wants the children to say how Obama "inspires" and list the ways they can help Obama, then we are rapidly heading toward "Dear Leader" territory. Especially since no one has any idea what he is going to say.
This Obama administration is firmly rooted in propaganda. Just look at the White House website or any of the new (recovery, healthcare, middle-class, etc) sites. It is readily recognizable propaganda, not information.
I don't know...if his team is THIS far off, I wonder how they arrived at their conclusions. Maybe he needs a new economic team???

Gdia,
"Taking a shot at my parents? Tsk tsk...I thought you better than that...not really, it suits you perfectly."
Indeed...taking a shot at one's parents is probably as bad as taking a shot at someone elses children, yes?
Dragon seems to take issue with this administrations propaganda, but had no problem with the last.
You know the word that applies so I won't type it.

Wow. I thought Obama opposed extended tours. I guess he's decided it's not so bad to do now.
He needs more troops, especially now, since troops will have to start guarding the embassies.
Poor Chief, still lacking in reading comprehension...I was taking a shot at you. Here ended the lesson.
Dragon,
I guess so. But it will be interesting to see how his base supports him once things get even hotter there.

Way to teach respect for our Commander in Chief. Nice.
Obama's supporters are already calling for him to abandon Afghanistan. Too bad that Obama won't write down is (verifiable) conditions of sucess for the war.
You make a good point Funditto. One of my theories about how we've become so divided as a nation is that parents are not giving their children all the information about a topic and letting them decide for themselves, they're indoctrinating them into a party from day one.
The flip side is that children will always tend to adopt the beliefs of their parents, to a point. It's a fine line. The same can be said about religion.
"Obama's far left supporters are already calling for him to abandon Afghanistan."
Fixed...again...you should really proofread...
Worthwhile off topic discussion
"The supreme court in Argentina has ruled that it is unconstitutional to punish people for using marijuana for personal consumption."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8221599.stm
"The Argentine court ruled that: "Each adult is free to make lifestyle decisions without the intervention of the state."
I wonder why the corporate-controlled media in this country didn't mention this?
Where are all the avowed "libertarians?"
Just a simple question. Did it ever cross any of your simple minds to go to a chat room to carry on your childish dribble? Some oy you have gotten to the point of absurdity with your same old same old every day.
And yet Dwils reads our "childish dribble" and is compelled to comment. Nah, that's not childlike...classic example of someone on the outside projecting their shortcomings onto those who he perceives as "popular".
Perhaps Dwils should rent a copy of "The Breakfast Club" and then write a 500 word essay on the correlation.
Welcome back, Dwilso31. How was the NAMBLA convention?
dwils, that question was asked many years ago. catch up, will ya?
As for NASCAR, it sucks since they took the tobacco out of it.
And, I seem to recall Bush "speaking" to children when 9/11 was going on. Great impression he made at that time...not.
Mama, the impression he made on me at that time was that the audience was smarter than the President. Or that the Supreme Court gave a deer the Presidency and the children were shining a bright light at him...either way.
Gdia,
"Poor Chief, still lacking in reading comprehension...I was taking a shot at you. Here ended the lesson."
About the same as me saying that you didn't have common courtesy. Ah well.
I can picture the deer in the shining lights, gd, so that must've been what it was. Surely not our prez at the time looking like a fool. Nah, couldn't have been that! lol
Funditto,
"Way to teach respect for our Commander in Chief. Nice."
I told him to stay awake and at least show t he courtesy of being there. As for him listening, that I cannot enforce.
Hmmm...something positive about NASCAR? Okay, they're really good at turning left. That's about all I can think of.
