Heaven help us
Free speech and hate speak are two entirely different things. Free speech is guaranteed by The Constitution but hate speak and inciting violence is not.
The atmosphere that is created by the hate mongering of Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck — two of the worst among a bevy of fringe right hate mongers — only serves to create and atmosphere that is extremely dangerous for our president and his cabinet members that refuse to bow to their vitriol.
These right wingers know that there are more unbalanced right wing nuts out there than them and will listen to their bitter rhetoric and act on it. The Republican Party has lost its way and refuses to refute these crackpots.
I think that the networks are complicit in aiding and abetting these hate mongers and should be held accountable along with them if any situations of violence arise as a result of their hate speak. Right wing hate mongering has been responsible for several assassinations and attempted assassinations.
Remember if you falsely yell ‘Fire!’ in a crowded theater, it is not covered by the Constitution. So I really don't think the kind of hatred that Limbaugh and company spew is either.
If the true conservatives don't get tough and try to take their party back heaven help us all.

Could be, Funditto. Xenophobia being what it is in Nashville. I'm surprised then, if you are right, that they let me post here....of course, they could throw me out again. I have my blog as a back-up and I post all over the globe. I like this forum, but it is not my only platform.
LoneWolf: "Sid" is attempting to hold off menopause. She's taking that "female Viagra" (like Chakracon) and 10 years from now we'll all hear about the nasty side effects: vulgarity, insults, threats,...and the worst of all....voting for the Republican ticket across the board.
Dargent,
Look, they were kids with $3000 trying to take down a company with BILLIONS in assets. They did the best they could. Granted, Fox showed it raw...but the story wasn't going to keep because rumors of it were already coming out...they had to show it or drop it.
As for taking them down, they got them whether the news media want to admit it or not. ONE film could have been tampered with or a fluke...but FOUR? I don't think so.
And what kills me is, no one is even talking about following up on this in stories and digging deeper into this corrupt pile. They're just taking the word of the person in charge of ACORN, for crying out loud!
But anyway, I'm glad we can agree on this one.
Wow chief, you can sure spin? Been studying Goebbels lately?
Saying that there plain untruths (like "death panels" ) which will be refuted is not the same as breaking rules which you know exist and acting like a boor. Wilson was rude and broke rules he knew about.
If I say: the sky is filled with Vogon Construction ships ready to demolish the planet. You are quite correct to tell me to turn off the tv and get a reality check.
Obama said no undocumented aliens would be covered. I took him at his word. You and Wilson should do the same UNTIL he signed into law a bill which does cover them.
Bush spent one third of his time away from office on vaction. Maybe more than anyone eles.
Loner: Please give me your blog address. You're the smartest person on this board. You know more about the English language than Merrian-Webster.
D7, could be that. Actually there was a poster named LoneWolf on these boards years ago, no relation.
Hey Sid, talk to me, buddy...it's OK, you are among friends here. Did you get a football or a BB gun on your birthday or did you get dolls and a tea set?
At least The First Lady doesn't have astrologers giving the President advice. AND the current President isn't practicing adultery like the GOP's St. Reagan.
And as for the Acorn videos.....
Let's consider the source, James O'Keefe . He's been known as a right wing activist for awhile now, in spite of his young age. He comes out of The Leadership Institute school of thought; the very same institute that produced the likes of Mitch McConnell, Karl Rove, Ralph Reed, Grover Norquist, and the ever popular Joe Wilson. To say that he's someone with a clear political agenda and an axe to grind would be, I think, an understatement.
http://www.yuricareport.com/GOPorganizations/MyRightWingDegreeFromLeadershipInsti.html
Then there's Hannah Giles, the "Ho" in this "Pimp and HO" saga. She's the daughter of Doug Giles, the anti-Obama preacher who hates gays and thinks torture is.... well... his TownHall.com column entitled "WWJT: Who Would Jesus Torture?" pretty much says it all.
http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/riptide/2009/09/acorn_smasher_hannah_giles_dad.php
One other thing, have any of you seen these two? Talk about about lily white. If you look up WASP in the dictionary of acronyms, it shows a picture of these two. On top of that, the outfits that these guys wore when they went into these Acorn offices were right out of Starsky and Hutch... remember Huggy Bear? Well, that's what O'Keefe looked like....
http://www.mediaite.com/online/getting-to-know-james-okeefe-first-lucky-charms-now-acorn/
One of the Acorn workers stated (and I'm paraphrasing here) that she went along with "Pimp and Ho" because she thought it was some kind of stunt. Seriously folks, look at that picture again.... Halloween, right? I may not be the worldliest person in the world and I may not know what a "Pimp and Ho" look like, but I know what they don't look like... and that's O,Keefe and Giles in costume.
Now has the right wing pulled off a good one? Yep, I give credit where credit is due.
I think you are bustin' my chops, Paul, with that suspicious compliment. But, here's the URL, I just put up a new Journal Entry the other day and no comments have come in on it. Here's the URL:

Please visit and comment.
brrrk something is in the mist. lol
Loner: I only fool around with guns and "House's" wife. I'll write you.
Today's not a bad day... several people on this board called me a "despicable human being", a "liar", and I'm "too short"..."ugly, too". Wait, the "ugly" was on Monday.
I can get that with one phone call to my ex-wife. First sentence.
Kosh,
"Saying that there plain untruths (like "death panels" ) which will be refuted is not the same as breaking rules which you know exist and acting like a boor. Wilson was rude and broke rules he knew about. "
Now wait a minute. Wilson apologized to Obama for calling interrupting his speech...basically for sayin what he thought in the wrong time and place. Wilson is allowed to believe that Obama lied, if he wants to.
"If I say: the sky is filled with Vogon Construction ships ready to demolish the planet. You are quite correct to tell me to turn off the tv and get a reality check."
And if you tell me a government program devised to take over such a large portion of the GNP isn't going to add one thin dime to the deficit? I mean COME ON. When was the last time you saw a government program not cost ANYTHING?
"Obama said no undocumented aliens would be covered. I took him at his word. You and Wilson should do the same UNTIL he signed into law a bill which does cover them."
Wilson didn't believe him and said so. I believe we can't believe what anyone says about what's going to be in the bill until we SEE it.
But then, advocating amnesty to prevent illegal aliens from being covered as it appears Obama's doing, isn't the way IMO either.
brrrrk,
"Now has the right wing pulled off a good one? Yep, I give credit where credit is due."
So, while you don't like the two kids who pulled off the investigation...and believe that there were a few who were "just going along with it because it was just a stunt", you still want to give them credit?
I don't understand...if you really think the workers KNEW these two were plants...and that they were completely biased in their reporting, then why give them credit at all?
Nemo,
"Bush spent one third of his time away from office on vaction. Maybe more than anyone eles."
Ok...so how much time has Obama spent physically IN the White House since he was elected?
Thank you, Brrrk for the enlightenment vis-a-vis the ACORN-haters. I did not see the video, did they use terms like, "right on", "solid" , "out of sight" and/or "groovy"?
This sounds like more Rovian dirty tricks, sadly, Obama has thrown ACORN under the bus. Let's see how many folks are now stuffed under the bus - Rev, Wright, Van Jones, Jimmy Carter, Blagoyevich and now the entire ACORN organization. I'm surprised that Obma's bus can get any traction with all the bodies jammed into the wheel wells and wrapped around the drive train. It's starting to stink like burning flesh and burning rubber.
Kosh,
"At least The First Lady doesn't have astrologers giving the President advice. AND the current President isn't practicing adultery like the GOP's St. Reagan."
No, the President already is getting advice from a string of guys, and calling them Czars, about which we have very little knowledge.
Oh and you mean practicing adultery like your precious Bill Clinton? Careful where you throw those stones!
'And if you tell me a government program devised to take over such a large portion of the GNP isn't going to add one thin dime to the deficit? I mean COME ON. When was the last time you saw a government program not cost ANYTHING?"
I have never said that. The simple way to avoid adding to the deficit is to increase income. If you have too many bills do you get a second job or add to your discovercard debt.
I think health care for all is a compassionate act that increases the common good of the people of this country and is worth the cost. Of course it should be run as efficiently as possible, certainly more efficient than private insurance is run.
Chief: I've said it before...nothing an American President can do is more despicable, vile, immoral, illegal, unethical,...than starting an invasion and "war" against a sovereign country. Like GW Bush did with Iraq. You may quote Eisenhower did it to Vietnam. Then JFK, LBJ, Nixon. Maybe so. That was 1959 onward. But, Bush & Co. KNEW what they were doing (at least Cheney did). It does not get any worse than that. N. Korea's, Iran's missiles ( 1 or 2 or 3 ) are "chump change" compared to what Bush & Co. did.

The problem with calling this a dirty trick is, they were simply allowed to say or do whatever. The ACORN people could have simply told them they couldn't help them and shown them the door...but they didn't do it. Sounds more like what 60 Minutes would do to me.
Deliberate misrepresentation, with the intent to defame, villify and destroy is a "dirty trick" in my book Chief. Your rule book does not consider such dirty work to be at all unfair, because the right-wing believes that the ends justify the means - all theocrats subscribe to that erroneous theory.
In this case, the ACORN folks were the "idiots", while the dirty-tricksters were the @ssholes. The left wing is filled with "idiots" like that, the right wing is filled with A-holes like that. Take your pick.
Research released this week in the American Journal of Public Health estimates that 45,000 deaths per year in the United States are associated with the lack of health insurance. If a person is uninsured, "it means you're at mortal risk," said one of the authors, Dr. David Himmelstein, an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.

Kosh,
"I have never said that. The simple way to avoid adding to the deficit is to increase income. If you have too many bills do you get a second job or add to your discovercard debt. "
You missed the most basic and simplist way to avoid adding to the deficit...STOP SPENDING more than you pay in bills! BTW, how do you think the government could increase it's income. Raising taxes simply causes those who have money to hide it or find creative ways to keep Uncle Sam from getting it.
"I think health care for all is a compassionate act that increases the common good of the people of this country and is worth the cost. Of course it should be run as efficiently as possible, certainly more efficient than private insurance is run."
I understand that...but surely you know that you are advocating raising the bills side even higher.
what about reducing what we spend on the military?
"How about we stop having Bud Light at all our meetings?"
Loner,

I assume then that any investigating reporter who "deliberately misrepresents themselves, with the intent to defame, villify and destroy" are the tricksters. Does this include those investigative reporters looking for a story who do the same thing?
Just trying to be fair here.
Blanket,
"what about reducing what we spend on the military?"
Ok...where do you suggest we cut it then?
i'd need to go through it with a fine tooth comb. i bet i could narrow it down.
first off, we'd stop unnecessary war.
TGIPF, Blanket.
Blanket,
Define unnecessary war. Oh and remember that we have various military bases all over the US and the world, used to train soldiers in their jobs and in the use of their equipment.
So where would you cut?
Blanket said: Research released this week in the American Journal of Public Health estimates that 45,000 deaths per year in the United States are associated with the lack of health insurance. So let them get gov-ment help. I don't want mandatory insurance. I want to make my own choices. And I bet those 45,000 eat well, don't smoke, don't drink pepsi and exercise regularly. NOT!
"

What would you have done with Sad-dam Hussein? Invited him to the White House garden for a beer? Probably!
Funditto: Somehow, I doubt the non-profits are lining up at your door.
Fun, first of all, I'm not a charity case or a fundraiser, so why would they? I'm self employed.
And to those of you who think Sidney is a man's name, you have to check out Yeahbaby.com and see the following: "Sidney -A hip name for a girl, a little old fashioned for a boy". My mom, Jessie Lillian, was a bit progressive in the late 40's, naming me Sidney was a giant leap for woman-kind. I love the name. It's shows great character. And I'm not ashamed to use it on posts -- or afraid. Duh! Fun, D-7, etc. Who are ya'll?
BTW, here tis:
Obama: Illegals Won't Be Covered Under My Plan. So, We'll Just Legalize The 12 Million Undocumented.

Kosh ""At least The First Lady doesn't have astrologers giving the President advice. AND the current President isn't practicing adultery like the GOP's St. Reagan."" NO, but Mrs. O'bama did double the 1st lady's administrative staff (Laura Bush 14); Michele 28, thereby DOUBLING THE COSTS TO TAXPAYERS. So, pleassssse, cut the crap. Tell me how "necessary" the war in Afghanistan is. O'bama calls it the "necessary war". What's so necessary about it?

'Racist' claims defuse once powerful word
True. It seems that none of the claims of racism lately can be taken seriously, including the NAACP lawsuit in Nashville. Sadly, it sets back race relations.
