Can you detect the sarcasm?
I would like to commend the FBI and President Obama on their recent arrests in foiling a possible terrorist attack in Denver and New York. I am sure happy that they are continuing that eavesdropping policy instituted by our previous president as it does seem to be working. And since we don't torture anymore, we can sit down with them and explain the evils of their ways and maybe they can tell us where all the bombs are hidden.
Or maybe we can play reruns of Obama’s sophomoric speeches over and over until they cave.
I do want to express my disappointment with President Obama’s unilateral decision to scrap the missile defense program in Eastern Europe. I would have hoped that he would have presented this proposal to Congress as our previous president had done when it came time to defend ourselves and our allies. After all, Congress did vote for the funding of this missile defense program.
I would have hoped President Obama had discussed this with our NATO allies to insure that they do not feel threatened by Russian or Iranian IBM’s. Maybe he even could have presented a resolution to the United Nations as our previous president did twice before taking such action.
I am sure this is not the change we had been hoping for when one person can decide what is of importance to the protection of people in the free world. Especially when it seems Russia is not planning to shelve its plans for more missiles and Iran is hiding their nuclear development plans.

I've watched Obama speak at several events this past month. Whether or not he uses a TelePromter to excess or not is irrelevant to me. He sounds good.
GW Bush stumbled and mumbled on any topic unless it was "keeping America safe and sound". Well, 8 years of his policies bankrupted America.

I would have to say that GWB's chuckles and chortles would be more likely to get results than Mr. Obama's.
Who exactly were the missiles in Poland supposed to be protecting us from? The Cold War ended 20 years ago.
Why should we keep massive military force in Europe? Can't they take care of themselves?

Bush reminds me of The Lone Ranger or John Wayne; he sees a problem and solves it. O'bama sees a problem and tries to talk it to death. And O'bama didn't call the enemy names; he embraces the enemy while calling Americans "liars" and other names.

Another sore loser LTE to start off the week right, Thomas Baird pines for the good old days, when the War Lobby called the tunes and Bush-Cheney danced for their masters.
Baird errored when he wrote, " it seems Russia is not planning to shelve its plans for more missiles and Iran is hiding their nuclear development plans." The Russians have announced that they are scrappig their plans to put missiles in place to counter the threat that the US installation would have posed to Russia. And the Iranians have complied with all the AEIA rules; our nuclear armed, belligerent ally - Israel - has never complied with the IAEA rules.
Both the US and Israel developed their nuclear arsenals in secrecy, who are we to demand that others follow the rules that we ignore and/or defy?

Bubba was on TV, yesterday morning. For all of his smarts and experience, Bill just doesn't seem to get it. He still advocates the counter-productive whack-a-mole strategy for dealing with Islamic terrorists, as opposed to dealing with the core issues that fuel the discontent and antipathy.
Kosh I'm LMAO; you're the first person to notice my unique spelling. O'Bama. It's like me screaming "Oh" and then BAM! He sort of came on the scene like a fast fire, buring our country's values and name down. Apology tours, extended vacations, inviting the enemy to tea and spending trillions more in 9 months then all presidents combined since GW (George Washington). So, I spell it the way I see it. Now, his biggest trip is to Sweden to push Chicago as the next Olympic venue. Now what the hell does the Prezzidente' of the U.S. have to do with bringing the Olympics to Chicago? Wouldn't that be the Governor of sick-annoy or the Mayor of Chick-car-go? And who's paying for that damn trip anyway? U.S. tax dollars? Probably. Well, not matter how you spell O'bama, you can spell the U.S. as screwed.
And P.S. This time next year tell me how you love his foreign policy. Or lack thereof.

Obama is traveling to Denmark to help Chicago get the olympics? Does he plan on being in DC anytime soon to address the Afghanistan problem? It's been weeks since he received McCrystal's report and seems to have no spare time to come up with a new stategy.
I would think Afghanistan is a higher priority than Chicago, but I guess he has many debts to repay.

Sidney, your point is well made. But let's go back to the letter. Mr. Baird made an excellent point. Had Bush made a decision like this on his own, and not brought it before congress, you would have seen the Dems crying on the floor and knashing of teeth in all the liberal newsrags across America. In fact he did bring these issues before Congress on numerous occasions, as well as the worthless bunch of thugs and dictators we know as the U.N.
Now we have O'Bama (thanks Sidney), who has about 9 months of experience reading teleprompters, telling us what kind of defense strategies HE will provide - talking to our enemies!
You can "talk" to a bully, but all you probably will get is a bloody nose. Eventually you will have to deal with a bully on terms he can understand.

I agree. The question is, who's the bully? Is the Islamic Republic of Iran the bully, or is it the Jewish State in Palestine? Which nation has the nuclear WMD? Which one has the modern, US-equipped Air Force? Who has the misslie-firing Dolphin submarines? Who has the longer range missiles? Who has the full, bipartisan, military and economic backing of the USA - the so-called "special relationship"?
Which of these two countries, The Islamic Republic or the Jewish State, seems to control the US veto in the UNSC? Who is complying with the IAEA, Israel or Iran?
Oh, there's a bully out there....and the world is tiring of the bully's BS.

You forgot to ask who agreed to comply with UN Resolution 242
For weeks now Sid the Awful and his Chief Drool, stood laughing at Sid's neighbor for building a boat so far from water. They laugh even more when the neighbor told them that the land would so fill with water.
Then after animals started to come and enter the big boat in pairs, Sid and his Drool would ask every morning, "How does it smell in there?" You would think that after weeks of the same old morning joke it would become old. But not for Sid the awful and his Drool, they had nothing else to do and a limited imagination.
Then when the rains started to fall for days on in, Sid began to worry. He and his Drool kept watching has more and more amnimals contiued to enter the big boat. Now standing in water up to their waist, the Drool kept up the laughter until Sid smacked him in the head and told him to shut up.
Sid began to worry that soon there would be no more room on the big boat and thought of a plan. The last of the animals were coming up the path. Sid and the Drool hide in the tall grass until the two Dodo birds pass and then jump them. Killed the birds and removeing their feathers and beaks. Sid and the Drool now disguised as two Dodo birds they made their way onto the big boat.
Now you know why that the Dodo Bird became exstinct. They were replaced by two Dodos humans.

I think we all know your hatred for President Obama. I just did not bother.
Good point, Kosh. I believe that Israel has ignored or flipped off more UN resolutions than any other nation on the planet. The Israelis beat Saddam on that score. But few dare to tally up Israel's acts of defiance to the world body that actually created it.
I will predict that the USA will use its veto power to shield Israel from the war crimes charges documented in the Goldstone Report, The report cited both Hamas and the IDF for crimes against humanity. Bibi Netanyahu denounced the damning report and its authors, as he waved the blueprints for Auschwitz in our faces, as if that historic wrong somehow justified Israel's crimes in Gaza.or a potential first-strike on Iran.
Obama's demand for a settlement freeze and Bibi's arrogant defiance is now old news, Bibi told the US to go screw....but, he'll still take the ten million per day from the US Treasury, thank you. Obama played chicken with Bibi, and then chickened out - big time.

Loner, the missiles that Russia said they needed protection from were "Defensive" Missiles. They were to be in place to defend our allies from incoming missiles and would not be pointed towards Russia. Russia was blowing smoke and you and Obama inhaled.
Check your history. There were NO rules in place when we developed the Atom Bomb.
Your buddies in Iran have Not complied with the IAEA requirements. However, yesterday, they did say they will allow inspections (until they change their mind again).

The Bush proposal was destablizing the region and inviting conflict. Obama is smart to pull the plug on the expensive, untested and controversial project. Military experts agree.

Loner, you know the difference between defensive and offensive weapons systems. Russia objected because the defense would lessen their offensive threat. JFK objected because the USSR would have dramatically increased their offensive threat with Cuba-based missiles.
All Obama did was capitulate to Putin and leave Europe more defenseless from a growing threat.
Dragon, the best defense is a great offense, it's axiomatic. Cuba thought that those missiles were defensive. Israel's war in Gaza wa labelled "self-defense". It's all semantics and euphemisms.

Hmmmm, that kind of introspective analysis would require us to consider the fact that our empire expanding policies could be a part of the problem. But give it a few more years of what we've allowed to happen and there will be no more empire to expand... we'll be fighting off China. If we aren't already.

The EU would not be defenseless if they would get off their butts and protect themselves instead of waiting for us to do it for them.
We have spent a century saving them. First in WWI, then II, then with NATO and our incredibly expensive and unneeded bases throughout the world.
Let's cut our military down to a defensive size; they can build their own if they wish.
