Keep Tony by the tale

Hello. I read your Web site’s e-news all the time. The Tennesseean? Yeah, right.

But could your paper stay on the May Town [Center] happenings? If you look at the remarks from your recent story about ol' Mr. G[iaratanna]., you got a lot of hits!

We need some way of hearing the news both for and against the politics of it all.

And Wing.

By: sidneyames on 10/2/09 at 2:45

blanket, I was being sarcastic. I know. I"m not as good at "sarcastic" as the rest of you folks. Rio got the olympic bid. Good for them. Chicago is a rough, crime ridden depressed place. They need to work their own 100 year plan and clean up their city. I don't blame the olympic committee. Looks like O'man's charm didn't pay off in the real world.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/2/09 at 2:48

sid, i'm from Chicago. in 2009 Chicago had 518 homicides. Rio had over 3,000. the Olympics would have helped the economy in Chicago.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/2/09 at 2:48

s/h/b 2008. sorry.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/2/09 at 2:49

btw, Detroit, Cleveland and Las Vegas are rough, crime ridden cities. Chicago is not bad in the whole scope of things. and i can speak from experience because that is my hometown.

By: slacker on 10/2/09 at 2:50

Rio, is gonna have to hide a lot of poor people.

By: house_of_pain on 10/2/09 at 2:51

How about Detroit?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/2/09 at 2:51

yep. Rio is very rough and has a lot of tent cities.

By: gdiafante on 10/2/09 at 2:54

Chicago's just not my kind of town.

By: slacker on 10/2/09 at 2:56

Its a Toddlin' town, but its post office stole my damn watch.

By: house_of_pain on 10/2/09 at 2:57

Well, Detroit's chief export is crippling depression.
Top that.

By: slacker on 10/2/09 at 2:59

Detroit's only claim to fame now is dargent.

By: house_of_pain on 10/2/09 at 3:05

"Detroit's only claim to fame now is dargent."
Please refer back to my previous post...

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/2/09 at 3:05

house, dargent is depressed so it's one in the same.

By: house_of_pain on 10/2/09 at 3:10

I guess I better go...Letterman is coming over later. I need to break out the rubber sheets.
Have a good weekend.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/2/09 at 3:11

have fun, house.

By: slacker on 10/2/09 at 3:13

pain, tell him I have pics of him with the NBC peacock, and I want 4 mil. or else.

By: dargent7 on 10/2/09 at 3:14

It's 4:00pm on a Friday, and I see no one has any jobs.
It's true, I was born and raised in Detroit. Michigan that is.
Chicago was always several notches up the scale of "coolness" and sophistication than Detroit will ever be. Now Detroit is lower than low.
But, Michael Moore's new film debuts today, and it should cause quite a stir. (that poor bastard is from Flint which makes Detroit look like Malibu).
Anyway, gotta side with Nazix2 on Chicago getting the Olympics. $2. billion isn't what it used to be, but we gotta stop thinking in terms of, "what's a 100 million"?
It would of been good for the economy, USA, that is. International exposure, etc.
Oh well, Obama at least tried.

By: sidneyames on 10/2/09 at 3:45

Obama tried. Sounds like a top 50 countrysong. How about he stops "trying" and starts "doing", like get his royal fanny back to the US, give up some date nights and get to work in the OVAL office. After all, didn't he run for Prezzidente' of the United States. And Rio will clean up it's crime and stuff before the olympics. I bet theywill.

By: BenDover on 10/2/09 at 3:49

I like Chicago. Read a really cool book called Devil in the White City about the World Exposition held there in the late 1800's... and this guy named H. H. Holmes was running around making Jack the Ripper look like a choir boy. It was a really good read.

I'm sorry Chicago didn't get the Olympics. Oh well... the three O's struck out. Stupid move by Obama to put his reputation behind something that wasn't in the bag.

I love going there though... usually stay down-town... Lou Malnati’s pies are to die for.

By: gdiafante on 10/2/09 at 3:49

Actually Sid, he's working right now in regards to Afghanistan. Weird thing about being President, you actually work away from the Oval office.

I've heard they've even designed Air Force One in such a way that he can work there too. Weird.

By: gdiafante on 10/2/09 at 3:52

"Stupid move by Obama to put his reputation behind something that wasn't in the bag."

Not really. Chicago was in the running, he went for it and it didn't turn out. Outside of nuts like you and Dragon, I don't think anyone really thinks his reputation will take a hit.

That's pretty funny though. You do amuse me.

By: DaddyYo on 10/2/09 at 3:54

Hello folks. Looks like I'm back.

By: DaddyYo on 10/2/09 at 3:56

Obama tried. That's all that matters in this world.

By: dargent7 on 10/2/09 at 4:33

Gd is correct. Air Force One has more telecommunications than the Oval Office.
And more peace of mind. He was in Copenhagen for 4 hours. GW Bush spent that much time trying to find the front door of the White House.
It's interesting how we Americans elect a President, then spend every waking hour trying to destroy them. They rose to the top of their game, and it ain't easy, got elected, then it's all pile on 'em, take 'em down. What the f**ck is the deal?
Who do "we" want as the next fool to take this on?

By: sidneyames on 10/2/09 at 8:21

Yeah, the way everyone stitll runs Bush down. "gwbush spent that much time trying to find the front door of the White House'. Well, at least he finally found it. O'bama ain't found it YET and he's been looking for 10 months. Sort of groping in the darkness for a wall to lean against. He's a nut cake, comparing his mission to get the olympics to a sport. Yeah, it's all a game to him and his comrades.

By: Loner on 10/3/09 at 6:29

Saturday morning...just checking the NCP board. I see DaddyYo is "back", is this poster someone we already know by another username?

Ben Dover claims that he is "sorry Chicago didn't get the Olympics"...yeah, right. Anytime the Obamas and/or Oprah take a hit Ben Dover is delighted. No, he's not a racist, he simply objects to their agenda. Right Ben?

Sid calls Obama a "nut cake" with "comrades"...but she's not a racist either, she just refuses to accept the legitimacy of his presidency - nuthin' personal.

Dargent poses two rhetorical questions, "What the f**ck is the deal?
Who do "we" want as the next fool to take this on?" The deal is simple, D7, the President is the ultimate scapegoat; Truman, though he was a bona fide @sshole, got it right when he said that the buck stops here. As for the "we" in America, there is no "we" - it's "us" versus "them". ...haven't you heard?

Sun's out, for awhile. I'm suiting up in leathers and going for a crisp, autumn ride...the big thumper has been sitting in the barn too long, it's time to ride...Yee Haw!

By: sidneyames on 10/3/09 at 7:31

No Loner, I just don't like it when a "wanna be a movie star" gets into office and then his priorities are not in line with logical thiniking. He should be meeting with the leaders of the military daily. Oh, that's right, he is the leader. Never even been a boy scout or in the military, but he's leading the military. How about you get heart surgery from an eye doctor or a vet assistant? AND if we don't like O'bama's policiess, we are not racists; we are realists.

By: BenDover on 10/3/09 at 9:43

Obama was not elected. He was appointed president by an adoring media.

By: sidneyames on 10/4/09 at 9:24

Ben, well spoken. You know some movie stars lose their appeal. Some of them, like Paul Newman continue to do great things even though they lose that sexy, youthful appeal. O'bama has great rhetoric because he has great speech writers. I listen to every speech; I hang on every word and with every word that comes out of his mouth, I hear deceit. He needs to focus on WAR (his war of choice Afghan); economy and jobs (and not those stupid gov-ment jobs that pay a lot and do a little) and being in the OVAL office. I don't care what his loving, adoring fan club says, being in a jet ain't the same as the oval office. The oval office is built on solid ground. It is not flying through the air with the high risk of crashing or being shot down. GET YOUR BUTT HOME TO YOUR OVAL OFFICE, O'MAN. You wanted it! Now work at it!
