Hey, Mikey’s at it again

Seems Michael Moore is at it again. This time taking on American capitalism in Capitalism: A Love Story, his new movie just out.

Fresh from his last movie, Sicko, which ridiculed America's health care system, this one is sure to stir debate and fan the flames of conservatives. I've only seen clips and his many talk show interviews where he states his case and makes a lot of sense.

He seems to have a knack for shoving a microphone and camera in unsuspecting culprits faces that always stumble into proving his point. Appearing hapless and confused, like Lt. Colombo, in the end he always gets his man.

Calling capitalism “un-American, unpatriotic, and un-Christian,” the movie audiences and critics especially will be screaming bloody murder. No wait, that was in Farenheit 911.

Good morning.

Michael Moore is a bit over the top for me, but I do find his humor funny. I'm sure that we will find a BenDover type in the movie.

Speaking of Ben, have you noticed that he comes more to this board when the market is not doing so good. It is always Obama's fault when the Dow is down.

I kind of fell sorry for him. His life dictated by the fickled finger of faith or in his case the fickled finger of the stock market.

By: Funditto on 10/6/09 at 5:59

It's a movie. It's for entertainment. Ask Mr. Moore and he'll tell you the same. He's no hero - and doesn't see himself as such. He's just a talented film-maker who pushes buttons. If you take him seriously then you may as well watch FOX News, too. Next topic?

By: dargent7 on 10/6/09 at 6:20

What, Fun-ster, no insults?

By: Dragon on 10/6/09 at 6:36

When asked about him making millions from his films (capitalism at its finest), Michael Moore said, "Ironic, isn't it?"

By: Kosh III on 10/6/09 at 6:46

"Un-Christian" may be the most on the mark. In Acts the first congregation lived communally with all assets held in common for the good of all. An early form of the people controlling the means of production?
And communal living has been a staple of Christian practice for centuries; look at all the religious communities of monks, nuns, Shakers etc.

Good morning, Nashville!

I have yet to see the new Michael Moore movie, so I'll reserve my commentary.

Again, congrats, D7, your verbal legacy, as recorded on these ethereal webpages, continues to expand. Big brother is reading all this and filing it all away...you may be asked to "explain yourself" at some point.

That's progress.

As for Doctor Dover, he's probably working as a professional zealot again. His rants here are not subsidized and he's gotta make a buck.
Hey, if somebody wants to pay me to pontificate, I'll consider the offer, I gotta pay the roofer man.

By: chiefpayne568 on 10/6/09 at 7:08

I say, if Michael Moore is so anti-capitalism, he needs to give away his movie for free. He can always post it on Youtube.

Of course the fact it bombed so badly that it was outdone by Zombie-land should tell you something.

By: gdiafante on 10/6/09 at 7:13

I love how some get so offended by him. Cracks me up.

By: gdiafante on 10/6/09 at 7:22

By the way, is it me or does the LTE have a spelling error in the last sentence?

Editor?

Hello?

By: sidneyames on 10/6/09 at 7:34

When asked about him making millions from his films (capitalism at its finest), Michael Moore said, "Ironic, isn't it?"
Yeah Dragon and the sad part is that some people "worship" Moore and hang on his every word and deed.
And Loner, D7 keeps a file on all of us, so I think he IS Big Bro!

By: slacker on 10/6/09 at 7:35

Didn't Moore make Ishtar?

By: Kosh III on 10/6/09 at 7:37

Yes. Fahrenheit.

By: chiefpayne568 on 10/6/09 at 7:37

Sidney,

Ironic, no. Hilarious , yes. The fact those who are going to watch his movie can't fathom that he is PROFITING on their viewership shows how far gone they are.

People really worship Moore? Why? I have to ask because I've never seen any of his movies and really don't want to...not even if they are free. They just don't interest me.

By: chiefpayne568 on 10/6/09 at 7:38

Now I know Fahrenheit was about 911...but what was Ishtar about?

By: house_of_pain on 10/6/09 at 7:40

It was about an hour and a half too long, chief.

By: pandabear on 10/6/09 at 7:45

There were 2 films on this subject at the Toronto Film Festival.

Mike Moores' is the "candy" version, made for entertainment and such.

Collapse is the real deal:

By: Blanketnazi2 on 10/6/09 at 7:48

wow, the right wing ding bats think "liberals" "worship" Moore and Obama? i don't know a single "liberal" who thinks that way.

By: dargent7 on 10/6/09 at 7:49

Does "Farenheit" have another "h" in it? I never use Spell Check. Newsweek regrets the error.

By: slacker on 10/6/09 at 7:51

Chief, Moore has a following, and they have made him wealthy. Its as American as apple pie, find a need and sell to it. He appeals to liberals, that have been indoctrinated against Capitalism. Its a money maker, think of Moore as the''heel'' in wrestling. His stuff is harmless.

By: house_of_pain on 10/6/09 at 7:51

d7 no speeka engrish.

By: dargent7 on 10/6/09 at 7:51

"Ishtar" starred Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman. I think it tanked sooner than the Titanic. I made it thru 10-15 minutes.

By: gdiafante on 10/6/09 at 7:53

"The fact those who are going to watch his movie can't fathom that he is PROFITING on their viewership shows how far gone they are."

Fact? LOL

Take some more Oxycontin, Rush...

By: dargent7 on 10/6/09 at 7:54

d'pain": See, that's what 10 years of college gets you. Cannot spell or pronounce "Worcestershire" either.

By: house_of_pain on 10/6/09 at 7:54

Hoffman claimed it was his first love scene with a camel...yeah, right.

By: slacker on 10/6/09 at 7:57

pain, that camel was promoted right after the film was completed.

By: slacker on 10/6/09 at 8:00

Isn't Dustin Hoffman gap toothed? Coincidence? I think not.

By: DaddyYo on 10/6/09 at 8:10

Ha, ha. Listen to poor little fat Mikey whining that people don't appreciate him lying about what caused the current Second Great Depression. From USA Today -

"The movie, an excoriation of the banking industry and final hectoring of President Bush, blames the economic meltdown on corporate greed and Reagan-era deregulation. But Moore sprinkles personal moments throughout the film, including glimpses of his faith, fears and father. And he threatens that if America doesn't getting off its rear end, Moore is sitting on his."

Oh no, what are we going to do without fat Mike leading the way?

And people think the Obama birthers are kooks.

By: house_of_pain on 10/6/09 at 8:11

slacker, I think the correct term is "camel-toothed".

By: gdiafante on 10/6/09 at 8:16

Whoa, House...0-4...wow...

On the bright side, the Preds are undefeated.

What is the matter chief? Moore is just an entertainer just like your god Limbaugh.

By: sidneyames on 10/6/09 at 8:18

What amazes me is that during a critical time in Afghan, the paper just over looks that topic altogether. Before too long, the gangs in America will be so big, that we'll need the real troops to defend us against them. I know that I sound skeptical, but I woke up on the wrong side of my checkbook today.

By: house_of_pain on 10/6/09 at 8:19

I sat through a 1-15 season with them before, gd.
Still not completely discouraged.
Lost my 1st FF game this week by 1 effin' point: 132.1 to 131.1.

By: slacker on 10/6/09 at 8:19

pain, you are correct. That explains why attractive women hang around.

By: gdiafante on 10/6/09 at 8:21

Two words for you house: regime change.

If it was good enough for Iraq, it's good enough for the Titans.

I haven't checked, I had a twenty point lead before last night. The other team had Favre, so I'm pretty sure I lost.

Although I do look like a genius in sitting Romo and picking up that Knox kid from Chicago...

By: Captain Nemo on 10/6/09 at 8:23

On the sad side of reallity de Lions has a better record the de Titans.

By: slacker on 10/6/09 at 8:23

Hey gdiafante, are you jonesing for slackerdamus early football picks?

By: house_of_pain on 10/6/09 at 8:24

I picked up Knox last week, as well. Started him instead of P. Crayton.

By: gdiafante on 10/6/09 at 8:26

Sure slacker, especially your "book it" about the Cowboys...I live for slackerdamus...

That's a good choice House. I thought about Crayton but Dallas isn't going to let Romo be Romo, so I don't expect too many high passing yards. Now if only Jones wasn't a damn glass back...

Funny you bring that up, gdia. I avve always said that the team would be better off with a new owner.

By: Captain Nemo on 10/6/09 at 8:33

There they go again. Some onw took the "h" from have.

By: slacker on 10/6/09 at 8:53

gdiafante, this pick is pure gold, you can set up your kids college fund with this pick. Treat the family to a vacation with this pick, pave the drive, buy new Beatle albums.

Ahmadinejad is a Jew

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/iran/6256173/Mahmoud-Ahmadinejad-revealed-to-have-Jewish-past.html

By: Captain Nemo on 10/6/09 at 9:04

Ahmadinejad must have been kicked out of the family. This would explain his hate for Jews.

By: MamaG on 10/6/09 at 9:34

Nemo, now he can just kill himself, since he hates Jews so much.

By: Funditto on 10/6/09 at 9:35

The only difference between Rush and Micheal Moore is their medium.

By: Funditto on 10/6/09 at 9:36

And their point of view. Forgot to mention that.

By: Captain Nemo on 10/6/09 at 9:37

MamaG, that must be why he is in the state of mind that he is in now. How does one kill themself and still rule Iraq?

By: DaddyYo on 10/6/09 at 9:40

The only difference between Rush and Fat Mikey ia that Rush is right and Fat Mikey is wrong.

By: Captain Nemo on 10/6/09 at 9:40

Funditto:

One is to far to the right and the other is to far to the left.

Bet the fruitcakes can't understand what that means.

By: Captain Nemo on 10/6/09 at 9:41

See already.
