Letters to the Editor

Just when you thought it couldn't get worse

Had a chance to catch Larry King Live when the former Miss America contestant, Carrie Prejean was "on." Or should I say, "off"?

Touting her new book, Still Standing, she was giddy until Mr. King asked her some pointed questions.
Throwing a hissy fit, she removed her mic and pouted in his studio, labeling the bewildered seasoned Mr. King, "inappropriate."

Before the tantrum, she was able to get out the fact she admires Sarah Palin and Michele Bachman.
Hers were echoes of the same setiments as Ms. Palin regarding the media — all liberal, biased, "gotcha," mean spirited people.

I guess making a sex tape at 17, breast implants and homophobia are all ingredients for her newfound celebrity.

Palin in her new book, Going Rogue, accused Katie Couric of unfair questions, such as, "What do you read at home"? Bachman referrs to the Obama White House as Nazi sympathizers and recommends marches on Washington "armed and dangerous."

All three women have the new face of the Republican Party and are scrambling for position in the 2012 elections. Just when you thought it can't get any worse, it does.

Paul D'Argent, 37209

Good morning .

Another good letter Paul, but you know sid will try to whip your butt for it.

I did not see all of the intreview, but I did manage to see part of it. It has given me reason to think that she is not a victim of the media, as she and the right-wing have been saying.

She trys to come on as a shining example of the Amreican ideal of home spawn girl next door. The ideal woman for all girls to emulate. But I am afraid that the truth is that she is just a sow's ear.

It is easier for a civilized person to pretend to be a barbarian, than it is for a barbarian to be civilized.

Aaaaaaaa! d7 is everywhere today!
He even had a letter published in the Apartment Finder booklet this morning...

By: Captain Nemo on 11/16/09 at 6:33

lol house. I see that you are as sharp as ever.

By: dargent7 on 11/16/09 at 6:45

House: We Northerners are taking over.
Nemo: The interview is on "You Tube".

By: Funditto on 11/16/09 at 6:47

OK. I just have to say it: D7, do you hate women? While I agree with your sentiments, I'm certain that if a female had written the same, brfa would accuse her of beign ugly, fat and jealous.

Question of the day: Just who's exploiting who when Palin appears on Oprah?

By: Captain Nemo on 11/16/09 at 6:49

Thanks Paul, I thought it would be.

It is a good thing I know northen. lol

By: dargent7 on 11/16/09 at 7:03

Fund-O: I have a question(s) for you....did you see Prejean on Larry King?
Did you see the Katie Couric interview? Ever heard Michele Bachman speak?
King and Couric are soft ball interviewers. Wait 'til they ever get on "60 Minutes".
And I love women...in fact, all my ex-wives are women.

By: Loner on 11/16/09 at 7:15

Good morning, Nashville!

Congrats, Paul. Really, the NCP should put you on their payroll - the LTE section is now the Paul D'Argent column.

I feel obliged to nit pick. In the third paragraph "setiment", SHB "sentiment". In the fifth paragraph, "referrs" SHB. "refers". Paul, don't be afraid to use spellcheck before submitting a missive.

Yes, bright-eyed, dim-witted, GOP bimbos seem to be a force to be reckoned with. Horny, loud-mouthed, demagogues - like Rush Limbaugh - are captivated by the combination of sexy with mean. The three right-wing bitches that Paul mentions are all acid-queen types.

It seems like right-wing males are infatuated with dominating, take charge women. I think it's an Oedipal thing. They want their fat backsides whipped into submission...very kinky....very Republican.

By: Funditto on 11/16/09 at 7:16

Yes! I wasn't criticizing you, just had to get that out of the way because you know the others are going to say it.

Palin sure has no problem using the "liberal-biased mainstream media" to promote her book! What a hypocrite.

By: Funditto on 11/16/09 at 7:17

Don't forget about Coulter. She was on all the morning talk shows last week praising all things Palin.

By: dargent7 on 11/16/09 at 7:20

Fun: Coulter went to my alma mater. I'm asking for a refund for books and tuition.
She's Marilyn Manson in drag.

Palin's ghost-written book takes aim at the GOP machinery itself. Biting the hand that fed her, Sarahcuda seems to be enthralled with herself. Her ego knows no bounds, I fully expect that she will play the role of spolier, if the GOP does not choose her as their presidential candidate in 2012.

I can see fat and horny Lou Dobbs as Sarah's paunchy, raunchy and fawning running mate. That combo could net 20% of the popular vote, IMO.

Palin, as a third-party spolier, may be the key to a Democratic victory in 2012.....run Sarah, run!

By: Loner on 11/16/09 at 7:44

John McCain screwed up everything he ever touched, it seems....he created a monster for the GOP. From his bottom-of-the-class flight school standing, to his idiotic choice for the office of Vice President, John Sidney McCain has shown the world that he is simply a miserable loser. Liberals should thank hapless McCain for setting the stage for the potential demise of the Grand Old Party.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/16/09 at 7:46

I think that you may be correct about Palin being a spoiler, Loner. The way she and other fringe nuts are going they could very well split the GOP. They keep hounding the moderates in the Republicans and may drive them out.

I think if I was incharge of th DNC I would be courting this new source of voters. The Democrates could move more toward the center.

By: Loner on 11/16/09 at 8:02

Nemo, the GOP is being run be a man who is there at the top, primarily due to his skin color, not because of any demonstrated expertise at winning elections or bringing people together.

The Republicans wanted a black face at the helm of their intolerant Party. Smiling Mike Steele was right there, to serve in that oreonic capacity. Sadly, for the GOP, Steele is not the brightest bulb and he seems to be a follower, not a leader. If they dump Steele now , the Republicans will look like idiots and/or bigots...they screwed themselves on that one too.

The Dems are very near the center now, IMO. The War Lobby still calls the shots. Campaign finance reform is not on anyone's asgenda. I am losing hope for any real change. We've been had, folks.

By: Funditto on 11/16/09 at 8:05

Is today some sort of holiday for our Right leaning friends? Where the he!! are they this fine Monday morning?

By: Loner on 11/16/09 at 8:10

SHB "agenda", not "asgenda" mea culpa. (since I nit-picked D7, I can expect Kharmic retaliation) Need latte...it's still early.

By: Loner on 11/16/09 at 8:11

Hung over, after whipping the Bills? Ouch!

By: house_of_pain on 11/16/09 at 8:20

Loner, T.O. was just going with the plays that were called...

By: Loner on 11/16/09 at 8:29

The Buffalo Bills need a new head coach, a top-rated, young QB and a new name.

Paying homage to a guy who killed hundreds of bison in a single day - to help starve the Plains Indians into submission - is a recipe for Kharmic disaster. That's my theory.

Four consecutive Super Bowl losses cannot be explained by any other theory. The most famous Bill of all time: OJ Simpson. I tell you, the franchise is cursed.

By: dargent7 on 11/16/09 at 8:33

Loner: You infuse and interject too much emotion with your play calling politics. These people are like lawyers in the courtroom. It's strictly business.
Palin was selected as a counterbalance to Hillary. McCain thought since she's a woman, "have we got one for you!"...thus Palin. They were right, except the bobble head had too much baggage, was too stupid, and too artificial.
If the GOP wants to run her in 2012, I could care less. The press will decimate her.
Quitting the governor's job in Alaska is 100x more virulant and a deal breaker than Obama's ties to Jeremiah Wright and Ayers.
Obama, for all his shortcomings, is honest and sincere. And it shows and people love it. It's all for show, anyway. He'll smoke whatever stooge the GOP props up in 2012.

By: sidneyames on 11/16/09 at 8:36

I don't know Michele or at least don't recall who she is. Someone enlighten me.

At first I though Carrie P. was admirable; but every time she opens her mouth, I sent out a retraction. She is an idiot. I admire her standing up for what she believes, especially in God. But some of her displays are immature and stupid. Larry King was asking her: How did you arrive at the conclusion to settle a lawsuit?

From my memory of the law, the actual "reason" to settle is not part of confidentiality. What the heck? I decided to settle because: How hard is that to answer Carrie?

Sarah Palin is still in my OK category. I think her daughter is a girl who picks loozers. LEVI is a jerk and a gold digger.

No, I think D7's letter was plausible as well as got a 7 on readability.

How about them thar Titans? I guess I was right to love them when they were down and out. Made them want to get better. I get all the credit. Well, most of it.

going to work now.

By: sidneyames on 11/16/09 at 8:40

D7 Palin quit because of the Lame Duck syndrome. I don't blame her.

I have to respectfully disagree on Obama is honest and sincere. I don't thave time tot quote all the lies. But the sincere: Going on a "secret" midnight run to see coffins of warriors killed in the line of duty is a juxtaposition (or something like that). The president knows he can't do any "secret" runs anywhere. He KNOWS IT. IT WAS PHONEY TO ME. Just like when he and Michelee secretly go to get fatty hamburgers at a burger joint or he smokes in the white house. I bet he does not leave the building to SMOKE. HE's a closet smoker. And probably a closet hater!

So I have to disagree - respectfully with no profanity as you can see. Truce not off yet!

By: Funditto on 11/16/09 at 8:46

Palin has a disabled child that requires more attention than most. He should be her main priority - not a book and not the GOP. She is the only mother that poor child has and dragging him and his siblings all over the place does them no good. She's a terrible mother, plain and simple.

By: idgaf on 11/16/09 at 8:46

I think 7 and dooley are trying to use this place as a stepping stone to a liberal pundit carreer.

In fairness they are not any worse then those that have the job now and they will have about the same amount of listeners/readers. Few very few. :)

By: Loner on 11/16/09 at 8:47

That's odd, Paul the Passionate, is accusing me of being overly emotional in my political analysis. Anyone else see the irony in Paul's complaint?

Paul is confident of an Obama victory in 2012, he wrote, "He'll smoke whatever stooge the GOP props up in 2012.".

That rather emotional prediction is predicated upon the belief that President Obama will still be in office in 2012. To use Paul's language, some stooge(s) may smoke Obama before 2012 arrives.

Don't ignore the fact that Junior Bush had an 80% approval rating in Israel, whereas Barrack Obama's approval rating there hovers near five percent. To say that Mr. Obama is skating on thin ice would be an understatement.

Biden is ready to play the LBJ role, stand by....somebody, right now is thinking that the ends will justify the means. May God preserve Mr. Obama.

"sex tape at 17, breast implants and homophobia are all ingredients for newfound celebrity" ....... It's the new American way, by-products of a low standard of living, poor healthcare and substandard educational systems. celebrities rule as they dont requite substance nor intelligence.

By: idgaf on 11/16/09 at 8:59

Don't kid yourself if she was a liberal 7 would be defending her rights to do with her body what she wants to and throw in abortions too.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/16/09 at 9:04

sid gives d7 an 7 for readablity? 2012 is getting closer.lol

I think the more we hear of Palin the more she will turn off the sound of mind people.

Welcome photozen. It is the American way and capitalism at it best. After all The Donald did not see anything wrong with Carrie.

By: dargent7 on 11/16/09 at 9:05

idgaf: You're getting warmer. As a condition of my parole, I have to write LTE's that make some sense, in a hick town, south of St Louis, to people that still believe the earth is flat and the sun revolves around it. And, GW Bush was a terrific president and hope Cheney runs for President in 2012. I figured Nashville was a perfect fit.

By: Captain Nemo on 11/16/09 at 9:06

id if she was a liberal you would be posting what kind of fools the democraps are.

Now go back and kiss your Palin posters.

I have got to go for now. My company wants me to drive to egde of the earth. lol

I shudder to think what Id does while he reads Palin's book. gag.

By: bfra on 11/16/09 at 9:14

Funditto - Ugly & fat are your words, not mine! Do you have a complex?

By: Loner on 11/16/09 at 9:17

Right you are, Photozen; welcome to the board.

The Romans had an expression to describe the current status quo...Panem et Circum...meaning bread and circus (the bloody Roman games).

Today, we Americans have a social safety net and cable TV...to keep the masses placated and docile.

My crystal balls foresee two possibilties. If we follow the Roman example, the next step will be morphing from a democratic republic to full empire status....complete with emperor and a Pax Americana.

It will be that, or a slow descent into ruin and chaos, as the dollar implodes, the American union breaks apart, the rich flee and violent warlords assume control of the remaining masses.

Since modern day empire-building sucks treasure out of the republic, instead of funneling it into the republic, as tribute, the latter case seems more likley than the former.

What are your thoughts on that, Photozen?

Funditto, if Palin is a bad mother, so is angelina jolee, faith hill, the Judds, Hillary Clinton, anyone who ever had a child who was a public figure, including old ugly nancy pee-lozer. Being a public figure and being a mother is an all encompassing task. It takes great patience.

My mother left for work at 10 p.m. She left us there alone all night. She went to a cotton mill; weaved cotton all night and got home when we were leaving for school. In todays politically correct world, she'd be in jail and/or on welfare. see she can't work and mind us, so we minded ourrselves. And we never got in trouble and all turned out well.

So, she's not a bad mother (Palin) cause if she is, then all the women in the movie, music, politics and other industry are bad mothers.

Maybe you could rethink your hateful view of Palin. After all, even the woman who won either Wimbledon or the u.s. tennis championship is a mother.

By the way, are the Dads in music, movies and politics who gallavant around bad fathers. After all Obama doesn't take his kids everywhere he goes. And doesn't their mother work also? She went around campaigning for her O'man? Is she a bad mother?

By: Loner on 11/16/09 at 9:22

Pardon the Roman italics....oh, I'm gonna pay for that nit-picking on D7's typos.

Have a safe and pleasant journey, Captain Nemo.

Idgaf scores with this snappy retort: "Don't kid yourself if she was a liberal 7 would be defending her rights to do with her body what she wants to and throw in abortions too."

Id, though alone, stands up to the leftist bullies...Bravo!

By: Loner on 11/16/09 at 9:31

Folks, I have tried executing several commands to remove the italics...maybe it will go back to normal at the page change, again, I regret the screw-up.

By: govskeptic on 11/16/09 at 9:36

Resident LTE writer dargent7 has little interest in subject
written but more on Bashing of Christian virtues than
anything else. Does NCP have private stipends they pay
for weekly LTE versus having to write an editorials?

By: Loner on 11/16/09 at 9:46

Govskeptic - Paul has written at least one LTE extolling Chrsitianity and its so-called "virtues" I know, because I submitted a rebuttal to that letter but my response was not published.

More recently, gov, Paul bashed Islam and its adherents, in a LT published right here at the NCP.

Paul is an ardent supporter/defender of the Jewish State concept, Israeli apartheid and IDF war crimes.

How much more "Christian" does Paul have to be before you allow him into the flock, govskeptic?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 11/16/09 at 9:47

Bashing Christian values? So, you're admitting that being small minded and a hypocrit are Christian values?

"Christian values"...ala, per, courteousy of Carrie Perjean?
Let's see: a sex tape at 17, but lie about it. Breast implants, that's ok.
Say "No" to same sex marriage, but mumble and stammer the answer. Accuse the questioner of "baiting her". Lawsuits. Sue the pageant for discrimination. Accuse the media of "bias" and attempting to stifle her free speech. Then goes on "Uncle Larry" who wouldn't hurt a fly and gets "huffy" and pulls her mic off to pout.
Yeah, great role models you GOP relics haul out as the new face of the Republican party.

News flash...speaking of NFL team names, logos, mascots and native peoples, the US Supreme Court refused to hear the Redskins' naming case.....seems the native Americans waited too long before complaining about the denigrating, racist term.

Here's a snippet:
"Judges at the district and circuit levels said the activists' trademark cancellation claim was barred by the doctrine of laches, which serves as a defense against claims that should have been made long ago. " (end of snippet)

Here's the source:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/11/16/AR2009111601298.html

That's odd, the doctrine of laches applies to claims by American natives, but the Zionist's 2,000 year-old land claim in Palestine is not subject to the doctrine of laches.

Land claims in present day Israel, by displaced Arab natives, driven out of their homes by militant Zionists, in 1948, are subject to the doctrine of laches. They will remain stateless refugees, in the squalid camps....victims of the doctrine of laches.

And still, we wonder why so many Arabs seem to hate us.
