No job shortage here

Last week, my friend who works for the state of Tennessee sent 50 state jobs openings to his mailing list. I looked over the list and found just five jobs [I think] are critical to providing services to people.

This got me thinking: Why is the state is hiring 50 people to do jobs like wildlife manager when the governor is cutting important services like limits on hospital visits for TennCare recipients, and deleting speech therapy and physical therapy for patients on TennCare. I am an animal lover but I think people are more important than animals.

The government thinks it is more important for the prisons to have staff for a store where prisoners shop instead of helping 50 disabled people on the family-support program or providing services for people with mental illnesses.

I think the state should spend the limited money in the budget more wisely for the people of Tennessee.

To me, Heineken tastes like what we used to call "green" beer. Meaning beer that had gone bad--skunk-y tasting. I hate it. I'm an all-american type of beer drinker, I guess. I like the old faithful ones! Like Budweiser...although I've switched over to the MGD 64 since the diabetes thing, if I even drink. Either that or vodka with diet tonic and lime. Yummy!

you know, G. I must roll over and admit. I"m stupid. Yes, I have to use the measuring stick that you use. So I"m stupid. I"m dumber than a rock. Awww. And to think, I even got a driver's license in this state.

We went to the Sportsman's Grille...mahi mahi sandwich...would have tasted really good with a brewski.

By: DustyU on 2/5/10 at 1:20

house - mahi mahi - loved when Shoneys had it on special for less than a dollar more than their burger platter :)

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/5/10 at 1:21

i used to go to Sportsmans for happy hour a lot.

By: bfra on 2/5/10 at 1:25

Fate Sander's Marina in Smyrna has one of the best catfish sandwichs. Anyone know where there is a good oyster bar that doesn't serve mini sized oysters?

By: DustyU on 2/5/10 at 1:25

happy hour = noon to midnight :)

By: gdiafante on 2/5/10 at 1:26

"I even got a driver's license in this state."

That's not surprising. All you need here is a pulse.

By: DustyU on 2/5/10 at 1:27

gdia - I have one of those - I think?

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/5/10 at 1:29

bfra, i've been to Sander's Marina to eat. i agree - their catfish sandwiches are great!

By: DustyU on 2/5/10 at 1:31

I prefer the Denny's in Coyote Wells TX - they have a grilled rattlesnake hoagie to die for :)

By: MamaG on 2/5/10 at 1:31

The old Laurell's was good! I don't know of any good oyster bars nowdays...perhaps Wild Bill's? They're on 5th, downtown, across Broadway from where the Ryman is.

"The Fellowship" (aka "The Family) is an actual Christian shadow government in America. I usually don't believe in conspiracy theories, but this group really exists, they're huge, they're secret, and they've been around since the 1930's. And the stories about them are not exaggerations.

Their goal? To replace democracy in America with a theocracy run by Christians. No joke. That was their founding purpose, and remains a real, if now distant, goal.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/5/10 at 1:34

By: gdiafante on 2/5/10 at 1:34

You know, if you take the "G" out of "God" and add a "d" and rearrange the letters, it spells "Odd"...I know, that's weird...

By: gdiafante on 2/5/10 at 1:38

I'm a member of the GOP.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/5/10 at 1:45

lol!

drink locally - order a Yazoo!

By: gdiafante on 2/5/10 at 1:46

I do drink locally, I just drink imported beer...lol

By: dnewton on 2/5/10 at 1:46

Does this mean that if we has a society kick children, animals and the elderly then denewton is happy?

No, it means that people are neither elderly nor children their whole life and the government should take into consideration the whole range of human needs for the whole time that they exist. On the whole, it is better to facilitate legitimate activity in a way that the benefit is more universal. The government should not do for one person what it is not willing and able to do for all. That is a very high standard but after the last century, it seems like a standard worth pursuing.

So that does not explain how you, with no heart, got one. Do they let zombies drive also.

No, GOD is "go on doing" good works.

I did buy Blackstone when it was available in groceries. Now, I'm a total import snob...in fact, the last time I drank domestic beer I got rickets.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/5/10 at 1:51

lol - i have a wide range when it comes to beer. wine on the other hand - i'm a complete snob when it comes to that. and scotch.

By: gdiafante on 2/5/10 at 1:53

Oh, scotch...haven't had that in a loooong time...thanks Blanket, I know what I'm buying tonight...

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/5/10 at 1:55

yeah, i don't drink it much because i can't afford what i like!

must be single malt!

By: gdiafante on 2/5/10 at 1:58

The good stuff is always expensive. The key is moderation in consumption...yeah right...lol

By: DustyU on 2/5/10 at 1:58

personally I stopped drinking scotch after I tasted the real thing in Scotland - they don't export the good stuff :(

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/5/10 at 2:00

last bottle of scotch i had lasted almost a year because i sipped it! i don't have the luxury of having scotch very often.

By: house_of_pain on 2/5/10 at 2:08

Scotch? I'll pass. But I just got home, and will now take a shot for the posters.
Rum or Tequila: you decide.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/5/10 at 2:09

Tequila!

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/5/10 at 2:09

*tequila song playing in the background*

By: house_of_pain on 2/5/10 at 2:11

Appropriate. That song & I have a history.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/5/10 at 2:12

care to share that story, house? 8~D

By: DustyU on 2/5/10 at 2:13

House - Tequila definitely! Have you ever tried Jose Cuervo Centenio? 100 year old -compared to regular tequilla - like comparing the finest scotch to bar whiskey!

By: bfra on 2/5/10 at 2:15

pain - Rum

Laurell's was good! Good seafood restaurants don't seem to last long here,

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/5/10 at 2:16

i wonder why that is, bfra.

By: house_of_pain on 2/5/10 at 2:16

Don't make me tell that...oh, if I must. Senior year in HS...the band asked me for assistance with the halftime show...while they played 'Tequila', I ran to the middle of the field, dressed as Pee Wee, and did the dance. Every game(home & away) and a band competition.

By: Blanketnazi2 on 2/5/10 at 2:18

that's awesome, house!

By: bfra on 2/5/10 at 2:21

Beyond me! When I eat out, I prefer seafood but when I have one in the past that serves fresh seafood, they just don't last long. Guess more people prefer steaks, we have plenty of those.
