Too much bite for a lap dog

Republicans are seething mad at newly elected Scott Brown to the former seat held by the late Sen. Ted Kennedy in Massachusetts.

They are raging and frothing at the mouth because of his decision to support Obama's jobs bill and calling him 'Benedict' Brown because he and four other Republicans ( Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine, George Voinovitch of Ohio, and Christopher Bond of Missouri) decided to represent the needs of the people instead of falling in lockstep with the party to defeat Obama on every issue.

To me this demonstrates that all Republicans are not evil and that there are a few willing to do the job that they were elected to do. But Brown is bearing the brunt of their collective wrath, although the others were also strongly criticized, because he is the most newly elected GOP Senator and they expected him to follow their " just say no " campaign.

It looks like Massachusetts might have gotten a Congressional representative instead of a party lap dog.

I think that girls didn't like the stooges, but the boys loved them. Mama, you have a lot of female company sharing your opinion of that dynamic comedic trio.

Hmmm...I'd like to see a poll of gay men and gay women in which the question is "Did you enjoy the 3 Stooges, as a child?"

Of course, the Stooges are fading away...they are no longer PC. Like Amos and Andy, they gotta go.

Most young people are probably unaware of the impact (pun intended) that the 3 Stooges had on several generations of Americans.

Those wise guys affected American pop culture more than we may like to admit.....the affects linger.

Why is everyone casting this as a GOP failure? Brown's far better than another Obama lap-dog like Coakley would have been. Scott brown erased Reid's super-majority.

He's a Repub. from Mass. Of course he's going to be middle of the road. A $15B Jobs bill? Obama farts $15B without even blaming it on the dog.

Go back to his speech. He always said he was going to do what was in the interest of Mass. first. I don't expect he'll jump ship on the Health Care bill but a maybe out of Brown is better than a yes out of Coakley.

Give me a moderate Repub to a hard-left Dem any day.

Anyone catch the video of our illustrious Senator Alexander standing resolutely behind Jon Kyl as he blatantly lied about the "nuclear option"? Alexander does that all the time... never has the balls to stand out front, but stands in the back. And then when you call his office on it they say, "Well the senator was only standing there"... like he was just passing by on his way to take a piss or something and decided that he'd like his picture on TV. Seriously, does he really think we're that stupid? Well, he did win in Tennessee afterall........

By: Loner on 2/25/10 at 10:40

Ben, asks, "Why is everyone casting this as a GOP failure? ".

I don't "cast "it that way, Ben. I'd characterize this as GOP buyer's remorse, not GOP failure.

No, you were not under any illusions about Brown, were you, Ben? He's performing as expected, according to your cogent analysis.

Well, others within the Grand Old Party were not as smart as you, Ben. Many expected Brown to pay back his backers.....if this guy stays "rogue", the Republican establishment may put up a serious, well-financed challenger in the primary elections for the 2012 race. Brown could be a flash in the pan.

Also Norwegian immigrants.

They changed their name to "Howard". like the "Marx" Brothers.

Generally we're sympatico, but I've got to call you on the Marx brothers comment. Coming from someone who has every Marx Brothers movie ever made, I know for a fact that one, they didn't change their names (Marx), and two, the were indeed brothers.... Chico, Harpo, Groucho, Gummo, and the handsome Zeppo.

By the way, if you really want to read something hilarious, pick up a copy of The Groucho Letters: Letters from and to Groucho Marx... it's a real hoot.

I agree with you Ben. I don't think the Health Care Bill will make it. And I hope the increase in our taxes doesn't make it. We all deserve to take home more money.

Translation: I've got mine so f*ck you!

Meanwhile back on the ranch..... over 40 million are without health insurance, an estimated 144 die every day as a result of not having insurance or adequate insurance, and over 17% of our GDP goes to paying for healthcare...

By: gdiafante on 2/25/10 at 11:42

Brrrk, Americans will go out of there way to illustrate that we are a Christian nation yet our national motto should be "More for me, screw everyone else"

This is an interesting read, starts out about hockey, then mentions healthcare and the debate is on in the comments. Personally, the attitude of Americans about health care sickens me.

The tax increase is coming, Sid. Say bye-bye to Bush's tax cuts come January. What people don't know is that the tax structure became MORE progressive under Bush... not less progressive. If things just revert as the Dems in congress are planning then we're looking at the 10% bracket jumping to 15% again. Then there's all of those people who had to pay nothing suddenly making the cut. And they will also reinstate the top bracket at 38% I think. No telling how they will d*ck around with the ranges but you can count on the fact that it won't be good for the tax payers. And, oh yeah... Capital gains will go from 15% to 20%... if you've know anyone who studies economics, just ask them how that'll affect an economy in recession. Plus the health care bill has another provision to add an additional 2-3% to the capital gains rates on investment income and interest as an extension of the medicare tax on earned income.

The democrats have the power and votes to keep rates where they are instead of raising tax on empolyers, employees and investors alike during a recession. I'm betting they don't do it though.

Hope you have insurance!

By the way, a friend of mine just informed me that his insurance premiums at the company he works for here in Nashville just went up 50%.... yep, our "health care system" is a chocolate cupcake with cream cheese icing just like the Republicans say it is.

By: gdiafante on 2/25/10 at 11:53

I do brrrk, they just declined a CT for my hip, even though I have pain, reduced range of motion and "popping" (years of running). Good thing that the medical decisions are being made by doctors, huh?

Tough break.... but then again, think of how much more money Sid is getting because you were declined a CT. Hell, how selfish can you be GD?

By: gdiafante on 2/25/10 at 12:08

It doesn't surprise me Brrrrk. Health care is a joke, and it's going to be for a long time because of the idiots that run this country and the sheep that follow them.

By: brrrrk on 2/25/10 at 12:15

gdiafante, I would love to be able to collect 288 pairs of shoes and then deliver 144 pairs to each of our senators offices so they understand just how many people die each and every day as a result of their inaction.

By: bfra on 2/25/10 at 12:16

Government is always stepping to regulate things. They need to step in on Doctors & Pharmaceutical companies. IMO their are joined at the hip and the patients are the ones get the shaft.

By: gdiafante on 2/25/10 at 12:17

They don't care. That's the problem. All they care about is retaining power. Maybe it's cabin fever, a long cold winter or the absence of NHL hockey, but I'm getting mean.

If I came face to face with a senator I'd be arrested.

By: house_of_pain on 2/25/10 at 12:30

gd, don't do anything to aggravate that hip. Those senators can get pretty heavy.

By: sidneyames on 2/25/10 at 12:33

G, when coming face to face with any gov-ment official, just chat loudly: Ain't worth it; ain't worth it. Then walk away. No gov-ment official is worth you, me or anyone else sacrificing one minute of our freedom for. JUst avoid them thar' crooks!

And G, I pay my taxes and have a high premium on insurance, just like everyone else. And when it comes to MY own health care, I do take care of myself. No pepsi cola, coke, sugar laden meals, or high fat content. Poor people just eat beans and rice, as we do. It's better for a person to stay away from high sugar, fat and starch content food. Veggies at the Aldi store are cheap. So I'm not getting more $$ than I deserve. I work for every dollar I get.

I hate taxes like everyone else. But not enough to spend time in jail over.

I think Blanket said this yesterday "it some sort of sinus thing, brrrk. i've been living on benadryl and zycam. and herbal tea."

Blanket go to www.sunrider.com and look at the SunBreeze Oil. It is menthol, cassia oil, mint, eeucalyptus oil and camphor blend. Will prevent sinus and/or cure it. Use on throat, in nostrils or elsewhere. Been using since 1997 at our house and neither of us get sinus, colds or flu. Works on burns, cuts and fever blisters.

Also, grate about 2 inches fresh ginger, put in 4 cups water with total orange cut up in cubes (including peel). Bring to boil; simmer 15 minutes with lid on pot. Then drain off ginger and orange, add honey and drink. Cleans out your entire sinus, lungs, etc. Burns like fire, but cures everything.
We also take orange flavored airborne in hot water like a tea drink. It helps a lot even though the critics say "no way".

Hope you feel better.
