This is a real pain
As the debate rages on in Washington whether "ObamaCare" is the right way to go or even affordable, several frequent visitors to neighboring hospitals made unexpected visits.
Former vice president Dick Cheney, who has more frequent flyer miles racked up with all his hospital stays, had "chest pains" recently. He was admitted immediately to one of America's finest hospitals, receiving around-the-clock care. Who's picking up the tab so Mr. Cheney can "rest comfortably"? The American taxpayer — many of which have no health benefits.
For more than 40 percent of Americans who feel tighness or shortness of breath, they have to work through it. Unless they want a $1,500 emergency room bill for a false alarm.
Former Sen. Bob Dole, who's also on the dole, was admitted for complications from a prior knee surgery. The U.S. taxpayer paid for his new "knee," and all follow-up treatment.
All of Congress and their families have free access to world class health care. It's available 24/7. Is that why they can't comprehend the plight of half of Americans who cannot see a doctor without the fear of filing bankruptcy?

g, not all metro cops are bad. complain to the precinct's commander. that'll get some attention.
Mama, thanks for the Zumba class info! i just did Zumba last night with a couple of friends. it's fun and it's quite the workout! oh, have you tried Far East over in your neck of the woods? it's today's special on Groupon.
g, do you have an serial numbers on file? what they typically do is a mass notification to the pawn shops and that's the best way to catch the nasty thieves.
blanket thank you
There ain't no money for the cops in property crime, gd. Even if they expend the energy to catch the punks (which they won't) then they have to prosecute... provide indigent defense, court time for the arresting officer... then incarcerate. Much more money in popping Joe Happyhour on a marginal DUI... he bends over and lets everyone from the judge down get a piece of his @$$ then pays them all for their pleasure just so he can get back to work -- paying the taxes that pay their salaries.
that doesn't describe all cops, Ben. i can tell you that from first hand experience.
well, maybe Joe Happyhour should wise up and not be Joe Happyhour.
blanket evidently you've been very lucky
grandpa says he's never met an honest cop and I don't think I have either
as much as you like to talk about taking responsibility, why are you letting Joe Happyhour and the lead footed drivers off the hook? just don't drink and drive and don't speed. it's that easy. i haven't had a ticket in over 10 years.
Brian, there's a difference between "helpful" and "honest." i didn't claim they were "honest." sometimes they're jonesing to get the punk who did it. they know who it was but they haven't been able to have someone press charges. there are cops who enjoy busting punks.
Blanket - I had serial #s, receipts, registeration papers on all guns, taken during a complete ransack. Cops couldn't find 1 finger print and I never saw the guns again or anything else. Although they knocked the back door completely in, went all thru the house and couldn't find 1 fingerpring! HMMMM!
blanket here's one of grandpa's favorite comments about criminals
Judas was a thief
Judas went and hanged himself
Go thou and do likewise
bfra, did they take anything other than guns? if not, it's not surprising that they didn't find fingerprints.
Brian, that's going to be one of my new favorite quotes - lol! i hate thieves.
blanket I guess I'm just down on metro for the way they get paid $50 an hour by the downtown businessman's association to harass the homeless
i can't say that i blame you there, Brian. but that was Serpas' doing, not the beat cop.
Blanket - Typo on that second fingerprint, I get so mad just thinking about the audacity of the low lifes.
During the short time I lived in MS, someone broke into my car and tore up the entire dashboard to steal an $89 CD player. One week after I made the report, they called me back to ask if I had any "new leads" in the case. I never realized that I had been assigned to the f**king case...I thought that was their job.
blanket true but they are all technically off-duty volunteers doing it
Blanket - They took everything they could sell, even the sewing machine. One of the guns, a Remington Ladies featherweight 20ga., with a ribbed barrel, was a special gift, not many of those around. They didn't even come up with that one.
"with a ribbed barrel"...for her shooting pleasure...
House - It was a sweet shooting gun, but I hope it blew all to pieces in the face of the one that wound up with it.
for the last time. it is not 'free health care' - nothing is free. doctors will not work out of a since of benevolence.
bfra, i second you on the opinion of low lifes. that really really gets under my skin. i can't stand lazy people either. i'm sorry that none of your stuff was recovered. that really sucks. it probably got sold out of state.
conservarage, it's not the docs, it's the insurance companies. many docs hate the red tape and just want to practice medicine. that's why many volunteer for Doctors Without Borders and volunteer for free clinics. i wouldn't be so quick to put the blame on them.
Blanket - It also takes a long time to get the feeling of security in your own home back.
We'll all end up in that meat grinder one of these days, bn... there's no end to the increasing nannyism goverment will use to expand its growth, power and wealth. .08 will become .05. .05 will become .03... it has to for them to continue to grow. No texting will become no talking on cell phones. And speed limits will creep down and down and other traffic violations will increase until it hits a point that even you consider unreasonable. Doesn't matter though. Because cops aren't focusing on crime there will always be people to say 'Do Something!' about crime and the ranks will continue to grow and they will increasingly focus on easy targets to fill their gullets and coffers rather than what the public really wants.
5% of the world's population. 25% of the world's prisoners.
5% of the world's population. 25% of the world's prisoners.
sad but true
bfra, i know the feeling. i've been broken into before too. even a house alarm doesn't totally fix that feeling of your home being violated.
Thanks, guys and gals. It's been a rude awakening for me and my family. For the first time in years, my wife is talking about moving back to Iowa. For me, that's a good thing.
g - I don't blame your wife for feeling that way, but the scumbags are everywhere.
Re guns stolen: My dad had a gun stolen from his truck once and about 15 or 20 yrs later, the police dept called my mother (dad had been dead a long time then) to say the gun had been recovered and she could pick it up. It was the strangest thing ever to get that gun back.
A friend had his car stolen several years ago (pre-Serpas) and HE (my friend) was the one who located it. Guess where? Metro's Impound Lot. They couldn't find it but he did. How twisted is that?
I've had more stuff ripped off from me than I care to think of. G, just be glad it was only possessions and that none of your family was hurt.
where as Jefferson said, "A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine".
Ah, you mean like the Republicans have cheerfully done to gay people? steal their rights?
Kosh, got into a political argument last week with a "friend" who basically equated homosexuals desire to have equal marital rights with those who would have sex with a horse.
Seriously.
MamaG - The low lifes that did it probably are so yellow bellied, they wouldn't have the guts to go in if they thought someone was there.
b, that's messed up but i've heard idiots say the same thing before. morons.
MamaG, have you eaten at Far East off Fatherland?
Gays have the same rights as anyone else.
Im a guy and I can't marry a guy either.
I'm OK with Gay marriage though. The problem with this though is how do you decide on societal thresholds for something like marriage? Any minority could claim protection privledge based on it's behavior. How do you decide where to draw the line. If I'm in love with my adult daughter and decide I want to marry her (and we're not going to have kids) who's to say that's wrong. If I want to marry two women; what's wrong with that?
The best hope for this movement is to do as it has and continue to sway public opinion toward their cause.
It's not a civil rights issue and to equate it as such diminishes the whole civil rights movement.
oops, s/h/b G, not b.

What the hell is it with Southern states and people thinking about having sex with horses?
Seriously.
LOL
I didn't ask, I just excused myself and went and had a beer.
Far East off Fatherland? No, but I've gotten high at Far Out listening to 'Cheech & Chong".
lol, brrrk! they do seem to have a fixation with the whole beastiality thing..... i have some redneck neighbors that swear that a human can impregnant a goat and that there are half goat/half human animals around that are an abomination and the person who impregnated the goat will go to hell even if they repent. seriously - you can't make that sh1t up!
Sex with a horse? Sounds like something out of Clerks 2.
Blanket, I'm sorry I didn't answer you earlier about Far East. I haven't eaten there yet but I did hear about their groupon just today. I've heard it was good, too. Definitely worth checking out!
As for Zumba, I doubt seriously that I could withstand one class at this point in time! I'm working on it though and think it would be alot of fun to do.
gd: Suprised you didn't have a dog. You seem like a "dog" person.
Almost all the houses in Sylvan Park have fenced in yards and 80% have a dog.
Criminals avoid a barking dog at all costs.
Why would gays want to get married (under the law) anyway. All privileges of marriage can be given via contract. A solid majority of people support domestic partnership laws that give equivalent rights. There are many churches that recognize the marriage even if the government doesn't... and the marriage penalty... at least for the gay couples I know... would be back-breaking. Hell I wish government wouldn't recognize my marriage … we’d probably net $15K - $20K a year in tax savings. It would decrease tort liability by dividing the assets in half.

And why not? Why is gay any different from being heterosexual? Is being gay any different than being white or black (or orange for that matter... thinking of John Boehner)? And don't give me that "because only a man and a woman can have children" crap.
Sex with horses? That is just gross!!!
house - Just happened in Columbia, TN a few weeks back. Was in the news and the perps, last I heard are still in jail.

Very Tijuana.....
Might make a good "Indian name", though...kinda like Dances with Wolves.
Fornicates with Fillies.
Good evening to you all...until tomorrow!
