District 17 Senate primary heats up

At the end of the legislative session, we watched a battle unfold between the House and Senate. Oddly, the two controlling sides were conservative Republicans actually trying to accomplish the same goals.

We all know there is no love lost between the two conservative candidates for Senate District 17 — Mae Beavers and Susan Lynn. Both candidates have worked hard over the years to achieve conservative goals in government and to do their best to represent the constituents. Lynn decided to run for the seat after Beavers announced she would seek the Wilson County Mayor's seat, but Beavers did an about face and decided to run for re-election of her current seat.

The main legislative battle became over protecting Tennesseans from Obamacare. An overwhelming majority of Americans have rejected the socialist takeover of our healthcare system and Beavers and Lynn have worked to protect Tennesseans from this unconstitutional overreach of federal government powers.

How do we decide the right candidate? Just look at how this legislation died and which candidate fought for our rights, and which candidate played politics.

The legislative session ran very late this year. Knowing this, Beavers decided to wait until the last few days to dump 31 different bills at the foot of the House and expected Lynn to just go along with every single one of them. Instead of taking responsibility for her inefficiency, Beavers decided to blame Lynn for not rubber-stamping her bills. Then Beavers played politics with the Health Freedom Act to make sure she can say she fought against Obamacare even though Diane Black was supposed to be the senator that pushed the bill through.

Lynn's bill, HR 2622 was set to easily pass in the House, which it did. However, Beavers couldn't seem to live with Lynn getting the credit for this.

As Beavers explains in this youTube video, the Senate recalled the bill "passed in February" to insert her language and name into the bill.

So, what was so important that the Senate needed to change language on a bill already passed? Beavers wanted to force Attorney General Bob Cooper to file a lawsuit against the federal government's Healthcare Bill. Unfortunately, in the state of Tennessee, the Attorney General is appointed by the state Supreme Court so that would be the same as the legislative branch telling the judicial branch what must do.

When you listen to the language of both candidates explaining what happened, Lynn took the high road and Beavers took the low road saying, "the House needs to act like adults." Well, I will act like an adult and recognize which candidate was working for us and which candidate was working for her self.

Loner - No, I didn't take a powder, just got back from sitting 3 hrs for an MRI, after which I pitched a fit and left.

Did you get anyone on base? A home run? Or strike outs when you pitched the fit?

Congratulation brrrk.

BudLT: You're confusing Obama who received most of his donations from single individuals giving small amounts, like $50. or $100 bucks. Not like Mayor Bloomberg and the eBay chick who spent $250 million and $87 million of their own money. Obama didn't spend any of his own money. Well, maybe 100 bucks.

Brrrrk gets double credit because he used the word 'hinky' in the 4:20. Plus add 10 points for exhibiting paranoia.

Never saw anyone "dumb" enough to try to bat at a fit! Guess there is always ONE.

But all those small amounts all trace back to George Soros' credit card.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/15/10 at 3:59

Dangerously close bfra. lol

Nemo - After that 3 hr wait, I have a short fuse right now. But, did manage to only come close and tell the truth at the same time.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/15/10 at 4:03

I think the paranoia floa ting in front him bfra. He sees Obama everywhere.

By: bfra on 6/15/10 at 4:06

Must be, he hasn't responded with a description of what he thinks is brrrrk's paranoia.

By: Captain Nemo on 6/15/10 at 4:06

Remind me what the 3hrs was about or is it any of my business?

By: brrrrk on 6/15/10 at 4:10

All I'm saying regarding McNair is that a coup de grace shot to the head is not the result of an act of passion. Somebody was trying to make a point.

By: brrrrk on 6/15/10 at 4:13

Let me get this straight.... Ben wants to be able to arm to the teeth, and I'm the one who's paranoid?

Just wait until the new health care plan has been in place a while. A 3 hour wait will seem like nothing ;)

Another point:

Women just don’t shoot themselves in the head. They may shoot another woman or a man in the head, but not themselves.

Nemo - Sitting in a waiting room, waiting for a MRI. Finally - 3 hrs past my appointment.

I can't predict the future!
Right now it isn't in place and they had no reason, except slow and unorganized. I wasn't the only one upset.

I hope that I'm wrong. Only time will tell.

It is time for me to go and see how bad BP has screwed up.

By: bfra on 6/15/10 at 4:21

The exboyfriend admitted to driving the SUV home, after she was arrested & being at the condo the day McNair was killed. Never read anything about him being investigated, thoroughly. Just allowed to leave the State.

By: bfra on 6/15/10 at 4:23

Nemo - Have a good evening and hope BP has something positive going for a change.
