Equal rights for all

To the Editor:

Marriage preservation amendments were on the ballot in 11 states and helped put George W. Bush back in the White House. But, these traditional marriage amendments are not winners! They promote discrimination and bigotry against citizens of this country who work, pay taxes, live, breath and love, and happen to be gay or lesbian.

According to the Declaration of Independence, "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness
